tbh every active scientist I’ve ever known has flown in the face of the whole “SCIENCE IS DIVORCED FROM EMOTION AND CAN’T APPRECIATE BEAUTY” thing.
I mean I know my favorite illustration is the banding volunteers - mostly scientists or “if we could afford the degree we would” scientists - all getting distracted cooing over a local communal spider species with a colony in one of the agave by the site.  We have a group that will go over all the data collection on a hummingbird then ask them if the know how pretty they are - then get briefly distracted because someone spotted an unusual wasp and that’s ALSO neat and pretty!  We have an actual entomologist who volunteers sometimes who was THRILLED with my habit of taking pictures of random unusual insects I see; he specializes in certain types of flies and will wax about how beautiful they are.
The XKCD dog vomit slime mold comic is real.
(ALSO AMEN ON CONTEXT FOR FUCKS SAKE)
I like personality quizzes in theory but in practice I just get irritated by the semantic ambiguity of literally every question. "On a spectrum from scientific to artistic what are you" motherfucker I literally wax poetic about the laws of thermodynamics where the fuck does that land on your spectrum

I swear, I swear like it means something, that this is my last doll. Unless I get the chance to move somewhere more spacious. (Still dreaming of that spare closet I could turn into a giant dollhouse...)
Anyhow, this is Fiadh, a Black Cherry Dolls Agave! I got her at the in-stock sale a few weeks ago, and she arrived on the last day of September. I thought she was just so cute when they first showed pictures of her.
So now she's home, my doll cabinet is getting full, and it'll be on to giving her a faceup and wig and also filling out everyone's wardrobes. I swear, there's never enough clothing.
[ID: Six pictures. The first one is of a doll box within a cardboard shipping box. The doll box is light green with a white stripe and Black Cherry Dolls logo. It has a white ribbon wrapped around it.
The second one is of the inside of the doll box. It has an insert of black foam, in which there is a doll-shaped cutout and two oval cutouts to the side of the doll's head. There is also a small envelope with a red wax seal on it.
The third has the envelope open and shows a close-up of the certificate of authenticity within. It reads Mold: Agave. Number: 05. Date: 11.09.2022 (This is in the day/month/year format.)
The fourth shows the foam insert with the cutouts removed, revealing a faceless doll body and a faceplate that Jaxx is holding beside the body. The doll's skin tone is pale, with a slightly pinkish undertone. The body is pear-shaped, but not super exaggerated.
The fifth has the doll assembled, with its faceplate attached to the head, and sitting in Jaxx's cupped hand, its hands almost resting on its thighs, head turned to the side. It fits right in Jaxx's palm.
The sixth shows a close-up of the doll's face and bust. It has a square face, with wide, prominent cheekbones and a similar jawline. The nose is round. The eyes are almond-shaped and somewhat wide-set. The lips are not quite thick but not thin, and are slightly parted. Overall, the doll has a thoughtful expression.
End ID.]

Yup, that's an Echeveria agavoides, sometimes called a Molded Wax Agave. It's definitely not an Agave, though, which is why I like botanical names better :)
Tumblr media
I've had this succulent for quite awhile. I'm very fond of it, I particularly like gently squishing its leaves. They are very firm. I think it is a variety know as molded wax but that's just a guess.

Distinguishing styles of heap - the yarn that makes up a cover - turns out to be simple when you see tests very close. Heap is sheared for "cut heap" or left in place for "circle heap". A mix is called "cut-and-circle heap."
Seeing and touching floor covering tests will commute home their disparities - and your inclinations. Heap statures incorporate short velvet heaps and longer plushes; more profound heap has a more rich feel, yet short heap has a tendency to be less demanding to look after.
A Kashmiri Carpets Online mark is required by law to list fiber substance and nation of source; some will incorporate extra accommodating subtle elements.
As you shop, accept the open door to make inquiries, read marks, and discover how to introduce and keep up the cover you purchase.
Remember that cover is frequently valued per square yard, not square foot. (To figure the cost per square foot yourself, isolate the cost per yard by nine.) Be mindful that when you take a gander at a cover test, the shading may contrast marginally from what might be conveyed to your home. Consider requesting a move cut specimen - a bit of cover cut from the parcel you would really buy. This is especially useful with regards to strands with an inclination to blur, for example, sisal or jute.
The weight a cover withstands brings about smashed heap and ground-in earth. Some of that can be eased by cushioning, which additionally ingests sound. Not all paddings are appropriate for all rugs, so ask before you purchase.
For example, "hard" cover, including those produced using most plant filaments, can be harmed by ultra-cushiony cushioning (the space it makes welcomes shoe foot rear areas to cut the cover).
"Introducing" a range floor covering is simple - simply make sure to set out the best possible cushioning first. However, one end to the other can be very dubious. To ensure cover stays put and the creases are unnoticeable, leave the employment to experts.
For huge rooms, inquire as to whether the cover you're purchasing will "crease well." No crease is undetectable, yet a few rugs mask them superior to others.
Before cleaning, check the maker's directions. Cleaning techniques for cover shift by fiber, however a week by week once-finished utilizing a vacuum with great suction and a pivoting head keeps many floor coverings looking great.
(For fragile floor coverings, for example, hand-woven or hand-tufted, utilize a vacuum without a pivoting head.) An expert can steam-clean manufactured and fleece cover, if necessary.
How a cover's heap is sliced and formed adds to its look and feel - short or shaggy, delicate or nubby - and to how well the item wears.
What to know: Because circle heap has no uncovered tips (not at all like cut heap), it is particularly tough. This settles on berber a decent decision for high-movement territories, for example, family rooms, lobbies, and staircases.
A cover's appearance, surface, and life span additionally are dictated by its filaments. The heap can be regular, engineered, or a mix of a few filaments.
