Now that classic Mickey is getting more attention, i think it's about time to talk about one very annoying design misunderstanding
Has anyone noticed how Mickey Mouse eyes are COMPLETELY misinterpreted in coloured version? 👀
Tumblr media
He has a mono eye like Sonic, which was changed into two small eyes inside his pupils
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also for example, notice the placement of Minnie's eyelashes that went from her eyelids to the top of her pupils
Yet Goofy retained normal eyes for some reason
Tumblr media
Does anyone know why it's the case? 🤔

I hate the misconception that introverts don’t like talking. If you’re the right person, we’ll talk to you for hours on end about pretty much everything. However, it’s incredibly difficult to find the right people, so for the most part we’ll probably just stay quiet.

Misconceptions About Despina Hatun
Tumblr media
*I: Olivera Was a Serbian Spy*
No. That’s all.
*II: The Lazarevics Brothers Asked Bayezid to Marry Their Sister*
Stefan was 11 years old and Vuk 9 years old when the permission of the council of bishops was granted for Olivera to marry Bayezid in late 1389, and though the Lazarevics preferred to partake in familial council, the boys likely had nothing to do with this due to their age and inexperience in politics.
This misconception comes from an Ottoman chronicler who tried to portray the Lazarevic brothers as spies who were seeking more land because, in truth, Bayezid granted them more land despite them being his state’s vassals.
*III: Milica Asked Bayezid to Marry Olivera*
Though the Serbian side was likely aware of an upcoming proposal from the Ottomans as Olivera remained the only chaste daughter, the proposal itself did not come from them.
It is true Milica, as regent, accepted vassalage to the Ottomans, however, the vassalage itself only included taxes and soldiers. Bayezid and his council likely asked for Olivera as a “Symbol of Peace.”
It did not benefit the Serbian side to make such a proposal as they gained nothing from it. However, marrying Olivera would guarantee that the Serbian side would remain loyal.
This belief likely comes from the Ottoman belief that Bayezid did not make the right decision by marrying Olivera, and thus are trying to blame said union on someone else (other than the one to blame, their Sultan).
*IV: Bayezid Captured Olivera*
This is something I see being mentioned from the Serbian side. They try to explain Stefan’s loyalty and closeness to Bayezid with this misconception.
Many choose to believe that Stefan stayed loyal to Bayezid because this one had forced his sister to be a concubine, which is not true. Their marriage is mentioned by Constantine the Philosopher, the biographer of Stefan Lazarevic.
She is neither his captive nor his concubine.
*V: Olivera Had Sons*
All of Bayezid’s sons were recorded by an Ottoman chronicler from that time as being from concubines.
It is therefore not probable that Olivera had any son.
The only children she had were three daughters, who were mentioned in the Zafarnama; the biography of Timur narrated by his grandson, Ibrahim.
If Olivera had a son, Stefan, her younger brother who assisted Bayezid at the Battle of Ankara would not have stayed for as long as he did. Additionally, he wouldn’t have saved Suleiman, Bayezid’s eldest son from a concubine, when this one almost fell to the enemy, he would have let him perish for the easier succession of his blood-nephew.

Monkey King Misconception
There's a misconception about Sun Wukong that has been going around since at least 2021. It states that Monkey can transform into an even stronger version of an opponent he is facing, thereby giving himself more power and enabling him to win the battle. See the attached examples, one from Quora and two from Twitter. I think this mistaken belief is based on a misreading of Wukong's battle with Nezha in chapter 5.
Tumblr media
During their battle, Nezha takes on a three-headed, six-armed form. Wukong responds by taking on a similar form. The battle is finally decided when Monkey creates a hair clone of himself and performs a sneak attack, thus wounding the child-god.
Young Nata grew angry. "Change!" he yelled loudly, and he changed at once into a fearsome person having three heads and six arms. In his hands he held six kinds of weapons: a monster-stabbing sword, a monster-cleaving scimitar, a monster-binding rope, a monster-taming club, an embroidered ball, and a fiery wheel. Brandishing these weapons, he mounted a frontal attack. "This little brother does know a few tricks!" said Wukong, somewhat alarmed by what he saw. "But don't be rash. Watch my magic!" Dear Great Sage! He shouted, "Change!" and he too transformed himself into a creature with three heads and six arms. One wave of the golden-hooped rod and it became three staffs, which were held with six hands (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 1, p. 155). [...] They clashed like raindrops and meteors in the air, but victory or defeat was not yet determined. Wukong, however, proved to be the one swifter of eye and hand. Right in the midst of the confusion, he plucked a piece of hair and shouted, "Change!" It changed into a copy of him, also wielding a rod in its hands and deceiving Nata. His real person leaped behind Nata and struck his left shoulder with the rod. Nata, still performing his magic, heard the rod whizzing through the air and tried desperately to dodge it. Unable to move quickly enough, he took the blow and fled in pain. Breaking off his magic and gathering up his six weapons, he returned to his camp in defeat (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 1, p. 156).
Both characters obviously have the ability to magically manipulate their bodies. Therefore, this is not the same as copying the magical skills and strength of an adversary.

I think one common misconception about asexual people is that we're prudish and innocent. That is just not true. We don't immediately get grossed out when we see just the slightest bit of skin. We don't immediately close our eyes when there is a sex scene on TV. We aren't little kids! In fact many asexual people are very comfortable with nudity (e.g. me!). Sex scenes on TV can be cinematically very beautiful or tell a story. Of course there are asexuals that aren't comfortable with nudity, of course there are asexuals that dislike sex scenes categorically. But that's not because they are asexuals! That applies to everyone regardless if they are asexual or allosexual!

It wouldn't have done Uncle Andrew much good if he had succeeded, for he was aiming at the right-hand pocket because he still thought the green rings were "homeward" rings.

The Loving Womb of Buddha Dharma
Buddha dharma teaches us more than the fact that our peace, compassion and unity do not arrive into our lives via a god. It teaches us to face our reality as it is in the moment we are alive in, to not grasp at the suffering of hope, and to not knowingly choose to live to encourage the misconceptions of illusory devices.
The universal ruler born of a woman's womb was conceived from the teachings of buddha dharma.

I hate that I have to do this but like I’m sick of seeing people criticizing things while not understand them as well. Now note I’m indifferent on what I’m about to slightly defend and I think plenty of the criticism is valid. That being said celbs at the met gala don’t really pick their clothes out guys. They are basically being models on a runway for fashion designers to experiment with outfits okay. You can not like the met gala still but I keep reading criticism that seems to misunderstand this point and be based heavily within this misunderstanding and it really bugs me.

Feeling this SO MUCH
And I can't leave this in the original tags: "a reverse grimdark". YES! That's exactly it! "Reverse-Grimdark" SHOULD be a fantasy subgenre!
me: i'm adding realism to this medieval fantasy setting
what people think i mean: grime, gratuitous sexual assault and murder, misogyny, child marriage
what i actually mean: everyone reads out loud, women are spinning wool all the time, peasants marry at 20, people wear colors.
