miniroth is peak nickname and i personally am a babygeal truther but smolgeal is sooo cute to me because we know he ends up like a brickshit house. baby genesis gets the short end of the nickname stick with minisis or babysis not really having the same pizzazz the poor baby. idk if we can even get silly enough with rhapsodos (babysodos??? mini soda........ like a fun size can of pepsi..... our beloved minnesota rhapsodos........) i want to see all of them as babies SO BAD but i'm glad we have time to make the trinity of silly nicknames for baby mode firsts
Genesis is gonna be the tricky one lolol "Baby" and "Mini" have already been taken. He needs something extra special. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

My favorite arthurian tv shows and minisiers (part 2/2)
(My favorite movies here)
More details under cut. Some of these I love, some are so bad so good, some are beautifully epic, some are just funny.
Kaamelott: French long running series about Arthur and his court. It started with very short comedic episodes and slowly stated to get into more serious events still keeping a comedic tone. More on how to start watching (for English speakers) here.
Merlin (BBC): Okay, this might have filled me with frustration many times, and it might be annoying (for me) in the way some stories were adapted (Morgana going evil, Guinevere and Lancelot) but I still love the first season and I enjoyed the fifth season a lot. Plus, Guinevere in Merlin BBC is probably one of my favorite Guinevere ever created, I just adore her. Not to mention that this show has take arthuriana from tv movies and turned into something marketable again, giving rise to a bunch of movies.
Camelot (Starz): Oh boy, so much potential and so good. Everything but Arthur and Guinevere, for me, is perfect. Literally delightful. The settings are beautiful, the story of Merlin and Igraine actually made me shed a tear, Kay is adorable, Gawain had the potential of being the first queer Gawain ever (I could feel it!), and Morgana was absolutely perfect. I truly believe that if they had cut Guinevere's story, and changed the actor playing Arthur this could have been our long arthurian tv show.
The Librarians: An extremely fun show with a Galahad living in modern times and working with the Librarians. While the arthurian elements are not a lot (there is Morgana, Galahad and some Lancelot), the show is still enjoyable for the self-contained adventures it offers.
Trollhunters / Tales of Arcadia: This animated series is not really an arthurian one, but it does have Merlin, Morgana and Arthur as main characters in the third season, which takes a more arthurian setting (it is called Wizards). I really enjoyed the backstory of Morgana, and in general even the first two seasons are quite fun for what they are.
Fate/Apocrypha: I admit I am not a fan of the Fate universe, mainly because it confuses me, but seeing Mordred in the flesh? I loved them. This one season anime does not have a lot of arthurian backstory for Mordred, but the show still manages to keep some of the angst and for me it was enough.
Arthur et les enfants de la Table Ronde: Probably my favorite animated arthurian show ever. The story is for kids, but it still manages to throw in some interesting twist, in particular related to Uther's cruelty/harshness and Morgana's actions. It follows a kid Arthur who is an orphan living in Uther's kingdom and going to adventures with Sagramore, Guinevre, Gawain, Morgana etc. It also has one of the few Morgause out there!
Cursed: Okay, hear me out! Is this show good? Not in my opinion. Is it fun? Yes, I actually enjoyed it. The Merlin and Nimue duo was an interesting take, Arthur's story was developing to be really good, Morgana as a lesbian? Yes, please. It was messy, but it managed to pull together even a final battle and give us some surprising moments so this is one of those shows I will probably feel like rewatching in the future (and buying the dvd if they sell it).

Top 5 places you'd like to visit
ooh! a good one because i am truly not a travel-for-whimsy person. i largely find travel awful unless there is a specific reason for said travel, i.e., someone specific on the other end i want to see. that said, there are places i would willingly go if i had the opportunity (money and politics included) and could do so without being "part of the problem" while doing so. having lived in a major tourist destination for almost two decades has made me very aware of the ways tourism is a scourge, and i have a lot of complicated feelings on travel for travel's sake as a marker of success and education or wev the common belief of it is as a result.
that said:
5. scotland. while i do have one singular friend there whom i would enjoy seeing, this is a place to which i would travel without that being the main purpose. i don't have any deep reason for it. i think it's extremely lovely, would love to see some of the castles, and some of the really old graveyards. i also have this weird idyllic notion that i would enjoy hiking and staying in bothies in the process. i have a really distant relative who was forced out by the clearances but has never actually been part of the draw.
4. tibet. this is definitely a "if i could not be part of the problem" thing. because i don't mean like, chinese controlled tibet. like, tibet as it belongs to the indigenous people of the region. i just want to learn as much as i can about it from the people who love it, who can tell me about it without the oppressive government twisting, and it may be the one place on my list i want to see purely for this purpose. it's also, for many reasons, the one place on this list i am least likely to ever have the opportunity to visit, second only to one place i will mention shortly.
3. australia. while i pretty famously have a dear friend here, my desire to have my ass kicked by nature extends far before that friendship was even in its infancy. seeing @icescrabblerjerky would obviously be the main goal now, but i really need to have a kangaroo stare me down from his native land or something. there is also a "don't be part of the problem" element here, as respecting, supporting, and understanding indigenous culture is always a goal of mine wherever i might be.
2. far northern america. like, canada, alaska, and even the northwest stretches of the upper peninsula. like i grew up there and have never been to copper harbor. i've been to alaska once on a layover with enough time to go to the best state fair i have ever experienced, but i'd appreciate the opportunity to see more. the northwest territories. the yukon. nunavut. i don't have a goal or actual destination in mind, but the far reaches of turtle island/mishiike minisi hold a lot of (probably obvious) appeal to me.
1. your house again. obvs. you have cool dogs and take me for walks. i know i am cheating a bit, but really. you're the main attraction of the midwest, baybee.
there needs to be an honorable mention here that has too many caveats to list, but north korea. having lived in seoul, i think it's natural that i would be curious about it. there is so much about life in seoul that was in relation to the north in an odd and casual way that i only sort of grasp, even after 20 years of it being a factor in my life. we did visit the dmz and incursion tunnels on a guided historical tour, and there is a "city" (kijong-dong) you can ostensibly visit (we were forbidden by our specific circumstances from doing so), but that tour experience has a very bizarre atmosphere i have a hard time putting into words, and as i was much younger and not a korean speaker like my spouse, i am sure a lot was lost on me. like, our guide made a joke about there being a body in the han river as we drove by on our tour bus and so many people (mostly korean people, as we were surprisingly the only americans on that tour???) found this hilarious, but i found it extremely uncomfortable. like i said, a lot was lost on younger me. so, a complicated mention here.
so, there you go! thanks for the ask! i am feeling needy for them today lmao.

Special Exhibition
Artists: Ruth Read
ArtLab Artist in Residence: March 30 – April 22
Gallery A Exhibition: April 19 – May 29
Introduction: RMG Fridays April 1, 7-10pm
Reception: RMG Fridays May 6, 7-10pm
Artist Talk: May 15, 1-3pm
Ruth Read received her BFA (sculpture) from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. Since then she has exhibited in both group and solo shows at The Station Gallery, Whitby, the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, the Visual Arts Centre, Clarington, and the Latcham Gallery, Stouffville, as well as other galleries in Ontario and St. John’s, Newfoundland. She has taught art classes at The Station Gallery, the Haliburton School of the Arts, the Visual Arts Centre, Clarington and for Fleming College.
An interest in structure and articulation is an underlying factor in all of my work. It has led directly to my interest in life drawing, portraiture, painting and installation sculptures, which incorporate the proportions of the human figure. I create an environment conceived in painterly terms while dealing with real and illusionary space. The viewer’s visual participation is engaged by using familiar objects which direct the mood of the work through association of ideas.
Inspired by the song by Fredrick Brooks, “Nine empty rooms” is a multi media sculpture installation reflecting on the abandoned house, memories of the past and its occupants. Further interpretations by music and dance  will be woven through the narrative.
The Robert McLaughlin Gallery72 Queen St.Civic CentreOshawa, ON L1H 3Z3
The Robert McLaughlin Gallery is in the treaty lands of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. This land has been the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg since 1700; before that time, it was stewarded by various communities belonging to the Haudenosaunee and Wendat confederacies. It is covered under the Williams Treaties and the Dish with One Spoon Wampum.
This area continues to be home to many Indigenous people from across Mishiike Minisi. We recognize the sovereignty of all Indigenous nations and are grateful for the opportunity to learn, live, and work on this land.
We acknowledge that the RMG is in treaty land, and respect our collective responsibility to protect and nurture the land. We also recognize the continuing impacts of colonialism and our responsibilities to redress the ways this has helped shape our organization. We are committed to working to address structural inequities and to centering Indigenous voices in the gallery.

@sabertag105 has a pretty good explanation: most any two places the language will be so different that so is the name.
I’m Néhiyaw (Cree). There’s a lot of kinds of Cree, and so many dialects that some are barely mutually intelligible. Different Cree will have different names for what our people are called (though it generally boils down to how you say “our people”), and generally we call things by what the people who have them refer to them as. That’s why there will be dozens of words for the same thing, because each is used by a different people. We have… I think 10 or 12 ways to call ourselves? Some are more common/standard than others.
As for the Great Turtle/Turtle Island, that is what I know mostly Iroquois peoples call it, with varying names depending on their language and dialect. Anowara:kowa is the name it’s called by Kanienʼkehá꞉ka (Mohawk). Each tribe has their own word. I know it has another name in Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe language), I thiiiink it’s called Mishiike Minisi but you’d have to ask an Ojibwe person.
The story of the Great Turtle is shared by peoples in parts of the US and Canada, and there are a lot of tribes located there who have a similar story. The way it goes is generally that when the earth was covered in water, many animals tried to swim down and gather up land to create continents. Muskrat succeeded, putting the dirt he collected on the back of a turtle, and eventually that became the continent. Most things are named in a similar way when storytelling tradition is oral: you need a good story behind things.
On the other hand, depending where you go the story is different and the name is different entirely. The Nahuatl name is Cēmānāhuac, and (according to Wikipedia, this is not my area of expertise) it means “land which is completely surrounded by water”, essentially the whole greater North & South America landmass. Very practical.
But yeah: pick any two points (or any two peoples) and the name will be different, and the further apart they are the more likely the name has an entirely different meaning.
Okay do I have any Native American followers? I gotta a question i'd like to ask and I'm having trouble finding an answer online

My favorite arthurian tv shows and minisiers (part 1/2)
(My favorite movies here)
More details under cut. Some of these I love, some are so bad so good, some are beautifully epic, some are just funny.
The Adventures of Sir Galahad: Short one season tv show (15 episodes) about Galahad having to recover Excalibur after it was stolen. Also the one and only show where Galahad and Mordred interact.
The Adventures of Sir Lancelot: 30 episodes of self contained light and sometimes comedic adventures focusing on Lancelot living at Camelot. Still very much enjoyable today! Other characters who appear are Merlin, Arthur and Guinevere.
Arthur of the Britons: The first attempt to make a tv show focusing on Celts and a Celtic Arthur. Episodes are self contained. Kind of strange sometimes, and the only arthurian characters are Arthur, Kay and Ector.
The Legend of King Arthur: An 8 episodes BBC show which adapts Malory. This is the best arthurian tv show ever created! It also has an amazing Morgan and a stellar Mordred. Actually made me cry!
Entaku no Kishi Monogatari Moero Asa: Toei original anime (no manga) of 30 episodes that follow Arthur's journey to reclaim Camelot after it was conquered by a villain.
The Boy Merlin: Very short 6 episodes series about Merlin as a kid discovering his powers. It was very light and with an historical aesthetic.
Merlin: Two episodes miniseries, extremely popular! It follows Merlin from his childhood to the death of Arthur. While it is not my favorite, it has some great scenes in the second part where Guinevere, Mordred and Lancelot are introduced.
The Mists of Avalon: Miniseries adaptation of a novel I really dislike - but I love this miniseries. It might actually be one of my favorite arthurian series. It focuses on Morgana and her relationship with Arthur and Guinevere. It also has an amazing Mordred and Morgause, one of the rare times where we see Morgause.

Goddess Minisis
Tumblr media
Name: Minisis Goddess of the Magic, Stars, Knowledge, and anything Strange.
Symbols: Scrolls, Stars, Books, Swirls.
Color Symbols: Blue, Black, and Gold
Favorite Style of Sex: She loves kinky weird sex and her taste are always changing. She has a new desire every day some say if it’s new and strange then she is all over it.
Info: Minisis is the goddess of the Magic, Stars, Knowledge, Music and anything Strange. She is the goddess who gives birth to stars so they may fill the night sky so her mother Awsha would have something to admire from her home in the moon. She even taught mortals how to use magic and spells but sadly her knowledge was hoarded by the spiral mages and used to harm the world. After the Great Collapse Minisis scatter every magical book across the lands, allowing people to hunt them down and seek out the lost knowledge.
Minisis temples also act as libraries. Storing knowledge and wisdom from any who would share it. It is said you can find almost anything in her temples and if you can’t then it meant you needed to find the answers yourself. Sailors give her praise by singing songs in her honor for teaching them how to use her stars to travel at night. It is said that if you were to bring her something strange or a song that she had never heard of she may gift you with a blessing depending on what you offer her.
