Gah, thank youuu 💥💥💥 (this is all a little bit jarring lol, not in a bad way of course, just kinda crazy people like my silly little blog) Have a rando snippet of a fic I'm working on as a bonus (can you guess what crossover it is :P?):

“Let's just go to the house. May have something more useful than that.” He clears his throat, groaning. It doesn't alleviate the soreness. Then promptly remembers he's recording, because that was needlessly loud,

“Sorry. I'll just cut that if I…”

He trails off, mouse flicking towards spruce planks on the ground. Another sign that says condemned in all caps. Cool,

“Okay, another useless sign--! Why is this even here? And there's fences around this place but they don't even connect to a gate. Like,”

Andrew runs up to the small area illuminated by torches, and mines a fence repeatedly, “what's the point of this if it's open over there? At least there’s torches to prevent mob spawning-- but still!”

He doesn’t consider himself a good Minecraft player, but at least he finished his little cobblestone wall perimeter around his house,

“It's like that one Adventure Time episode where the Ice King is-is trapped in that cell but it only has two bars! What are these fences going to keep out? Like oooh! Look at me, I'm waltzing right in this half-assed property line!”

He then stops his stride, mouth clipping closed because what's his problem?

Every new frame I see of the Minecraft movie reminds me more and more of that one old really gritty Minecraft texture pack that was used so much by horror map makers. I had to look a bit but I found it, it’s called GrungeBDcraft

For those who thinks it’s kinda familiar but not quite, that’s because grunge is a variation of the base texture pack, BDcraft which is much more cartoony.

Masterlist pt.2

Lando leaned back in his chair, his headset snug over his ears, as he focused on the intense F1 simulator race he was playing live on Twitch. Thousands of fans flooded the chat, spamming emojis and cheering him on. His tongue poked out slightly as he braked late into a sharp corner, his face scrunched in concentration.

“Alright, alright,” he muttered, glancing at the mini-map. “P1 is mine—just need to nail this next sector.”

The chat exploded with messages.

"Focus, Lando!”

“Y/N would be beating you right now!”

“Y/N is streaming too, isn’t she?”

He chuckled, shaking his head. “Yeah, I saw her go live before me. She’s probably off building another ridiculous castle in Minecraft or something. You guys know she gets way too into that stuff.”

Unbeknownst to him, you weren’t playing Minecraft. You had decided—for reasons you were already regretting—to tackle a survival horror game that was known for its relentless jump scares.

As Lando passed the final sector, his victory within reach, a blood-curdling scream pierced the air.

It wasn’t just any scream—it was your scream. High-pitched, panicked, and filled with the kind of terror usually reserved for an actual emergency.

“WHAT THE—” Lando flinched violently, his hands jerking the wheel as his car spun out. “Y/N?” His heart leapt into his throat as he ripped off his headset, his wide eyes darting toward the direction of your gaming setup in the next room.

The chat went into an immediate frenzy.

"WHAT WAS THAT!?”

“That sounded like Y/N!”

“BRO, GO CHECK ON HER!”

“SHE’S SCREAMING LIKE SHE’S BEING MURDERED OMG.”

“Hold on, hold on,” Lando muttered, fumbling to mute his mic. He shot out of his chair, his wheels spinning with a loud clatter as it hit the wall behind him. He bolted toward your room, heart pounding, as every worst-case scenario ran through his head.

Meanwhile, in your stream, chaos reigned.

“Oh my God, oh my God, NO!” you shrieked, your voice breaking slightly as your in-game character crouched in a dark hallway. You clutched your mouse tightly, your other hand hovering over the keyboard, ready to hit the escape key at any moment. “WHERE IS IT? WHY IS IT SO QUIET?!”

Your chat was absolutely loving it.

“This is why you don’t play horror games!”

“Headphone users are DEAD.”

“LMAO she’s about to quit.”

The silence in the game dragged on for a moment longer, heightening your nerves. You inched forward cautiously, your character’s flashlight flickering ominously.

And then, without warning, the grotesque creature you’d been dreading lunged at the screen with an ear-shattering roar.

“AAAAHHHHH!” you screamed again, throwing your hands into the air as your chair shot backward, slamming into the wall. Your headphones slid off your head and dangled around your neck as you scrambled to get away from the desk, heart racing.

“NOPE! I’M DONE! I’M DONE!” you yelled, your voice cracking as you practically launched yourself onto the couch in the corner of the room.

That’s when Lando burst into the room, his face pale and panicked. “Y/N?! What happened? Are you okay?”

You screamed again out of fright before you looked up at him from the couch, still clutching your chest. “Lando! Oh my God, you scared me!”

“I scared you?” He blinked, his gaze darting around the room. His eyes landed on your paused game, the horrifying creature frozen mid-attack on the screen. Slowly, his face twisted into a mix of confusion and disbelief. “Wait…was that scream because of… that?”

“YES!” you shouted, gesturing wildly toward the screen. “Look at it! It jumped out of nowhere!”

He stared at the screen again, squinting. “Are you serious? It’s just a…a thing with teeth! That’s not even scary!”

“Not scary? NOT SCARY?! It’s terrifying!” you exclaimed, still catching your breath. “I thought I was gonna die, Lando. Like, my soul left my body for a second.”

His lips twitched, and before you could say anything else, he burst out laughing. “Your soul—oh my God, Y/N. You screamed like someone broke into the house!”

“Well, it felt like someone did!” you retorted, your voice still a little shaky.

Both of your streams had caught up by now, and your respective chats were absolutely losing it.

“LMFAO HE BARGED IN LIKE A HERO!”

“Her scream broke the sound barrier.”

“Why is this the funniest thing ever?”

Lando walked over to your desk and leaned in toward your mic, grinning. “Chat, I need you to confirm—did she actually scream that loud over this thing?” He pointed at the screen dramatically. “Be honest.”

“Stop embarrassing me!” you groaned, grabbing a pillow and tossing it at him. He caught it effortlessly, smirking.

“Oh, you’re never living this down,” he teased, sitting down in your chair and swiveling toward you. “You just gave your stream—and mine, for that matter—the greatest moment of the night.”

You buried your face in your hands. “I hate you sometimes.”

“No, you don’t,” he said confidently, leaning back. “You love me. And besides, I’m your knight in shining armor. I came running when I heard you screaming for help.”

“Yeah, and then immediately started making fun of me,” you shot back, crossing your arms.

“That’s just my way of calming you down.” He shrugged innocently before turning to look at your paused game again. “Alright, let’s finish it together. I’ll keep you safe from all the big, scary monsters.”

You groaned, but a small smile crept onto your face. “Fine. But if you scream, I’m never letting you live it down.”

“Deal,” he said, smirking. “But trust me, I don’t scream.”

Fifteen minutes later, after another brutal jumpscare, Lando let out a high-pitched yell that could probably rival yours. And you? You made sure both of your streams—and all the clips—had proof.

Dogwarts - A Horror-Themed Minecraft Map

Ever since the beheading, paranoia has taken hold of the Red King.

Dogwarts is a short Minecraft map full of secrets, made for AUFest 2024's Reverse Big Bang. You can find more information on it here, including the world download, content warnings, how-to-play guide, and a video showcase for anyone who can't or doesn't want to play through it themselves.

As part of the event I had the honor of working with two INCREDIBLE writers, Sparrow @erstwhilesparrow and Writer @capriciouswriter207!! Both of them did a masterful job bringing this story to life in a new medium, and I'm delighted that I got to have them on my team <3 Check out their fics:

The things Martyn carries with him have dwindled to almost nothing. One bucket that he doesn’t dare abandon to the capricious shadows, a handful of glass bottles. A scrap of banner that he keeps in his pocket, that he wipes his sweat on but never without feeling a little bad. If it’s the tunnels themselves that are responsible for all his misfortune, they never make a sound to suggest so. If this place is haunted, it’s not haunted by any ghosts but his own.

The enchanter must be protected at all costs. Away from prying eyes, deep below the ground, nobody but Ren will ever lay their eyes on it again. A labyrinth of dirt and stone must be dug to further protect it. The process weighs heavily on Martyn, and the tunnels themselves seem to suffocate him. It's all worth it, though. The enchanter must be safe.

This is a grossly reductive list, because I try and engage with as much media as possible at any given time. My range is vast, as I am always broadening my horizons to better refine my sensibilities and learn new things about the storytelling arts, but my subjective preferences often come back to silly ass cartoons, furry media, 2000s novelty nostalgia, or surrealist pieces. I'm overall pretty picky and also cringe as hell. I am not cool. But of course my interests do not start and end with media engagement.

Hermit-a-Day May, Day 22: Iskall85. Today's style/medium is Minecraft map art! This is because I wanted to make Iskall's portrait with as much diorite as humanly possible. The entirety of the background (except for the green) and most of his face? Yep, that's all diorite. I think I'm very funny. Details, materials, and screenshots under the read more!

Materials: Krita (for the base art), Rebane2001's MapartCraft site (available here), a Minecraft superflat world, a structure block, and way, way too much time spent trying to get the orientation and placement of the art to line up with the map borders. Structure blocks are weird, y'all. This tutorial by PuffingFish HQ was very helpful for figuring out how to access the file in the first place.

This is probably the earliest I've ever been done with my art this month, and it still took longer than it should have, due to various technical difficulties. That's probably because this piece is rather simple, but I refuse to feel bad about that because it was for the bit, y'know? Also don't ask me what's going on with his left eye because I don't know either. It just felt right.

The first time I loaded the structure into Minecraft, I just burst out laughing because it looks. Ridiculous and slightly terrifying, honestly. Diorite eldritch horror and/or biblically accurate angel.

Side note, my apologies if the images' alt text isn't useful or if it makes no sense--I honestly have no idea how to describe these in a helpful way.
