Rewatching Suits and just finished 2x16 and so I assume I'm not the only one who sees the parallels between when Mike loses his grandmother and tries to have sex with Rachel, but doesn't and then ends up having sex with Tess, and when Mike thinks he's lost Harvey and again decides to have sex with Rachel? His answer to emotional trauma is sex. I mean I get it. It's life affirming, but also, talk about your shit Mike.
I'm not the only one drawing that conclusion, right?
No, it's just me? Okay, cool, cool, that's fine, we're all fine.
I'm gonna assume that this was discussed in depth the first time it aired.
The other part of this episode that makes me nutters is that Harvey goes on a whole fucking rant about how he doesn't want to be the guy to make a fool out of another and that he's pissed Scottie turned him into that and, then later in the next season goes on to tell Mike to take Rachel back after she cheats.
NO FUCKING WAY it goes down like that. Especially since he hasn't reconciled with his mother yet or gone to therapy yet. There is no way that with as much as Harvey cares for Mike, THAT'S the advice he gives. He doesn't want Mike to be that fool, and he doesn't think Mike deserves it. I mean, part of who Harvey IS is his stance on cheaters. And they just drop that like a hot fucking potato.
That is terrible writing just to keep the heteroquo.

Joan McCarter at Daily Kos:
After months of House Speaker Mike Johnson dragging his feet, the House finally voted 316 to 94 to advance the foreign aid bills for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Democrats made that happen—again. In fact, Democrats have been responsible for passing every key funding bill during Johnson’s tenure, a fact that continues to enrage the far-right Freedom Caucus. That, in turn, makes Johnson even more reliant on Democrats to keep his gavel. The importance of this week’s success in the House is hard to overstate. For the first time in decades, the minority party bailed out the speaker in the Rules Committee—the most powerful committee in the House—to advance the aid bills to the floor. In fact, it’s called “The Speaker’s Committee” because it’s the vehicle the speaker uses to send their priorities—which are typically the priorities of the majority party—to the House floor. Three Republican extremists on the Rules Committee, the group former Speaker Kevin McCarthy installed in his negotiations to get the job last year, rebelled, leading all four Democrats on the committee—Reps. Jim McGovern, Mary Gay Scanlon, Joe Neguse, and Teresa Leger Fernández—to do the previously unthinkable and approve the package, sending it to the floor.
Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters that Democrats were united—this time—in helping Johnson. “Once we made that decision, it was clear that we would do what was necessary to make sure that national security legislation was considered by the entire House,” he said. They did just that, ensuring that the legislation moved forward Friday morning with Democrats in the majority—165 Democrats and 151 Republicans in favor. Which means that, at least for the purposes of this critical package, Johnson shared control of the floor with Democrats—a quasi-coalition government, for the time being. That will be cemented Saturday, when the House votes on final passage for the individual components of the package, and Democrats will undoubtedly hold the majority again.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA)'s job has been bailed out by the Democrats, infuriating the House Freedom Caucus nutters.

Here's a crossover nobody asked for, but has wormed its way into my head and won't leave: Good Omens × The Magnus Archives.
To clarify, not characters taken from one and put in the other's setting, both characters and settings put together in a weird soup.
I know the crossover doesn't make any sense, but the thought of the Them and the NotThem existing in the same universe greatly amuses me.
Further ramblings below the cut.
I've been debating between the Fears being an invention of Hell that has gone out of control and them being completely unrelated, outside beings with a power level closer to God, I feel like the first option diminishes their status a bit, but it is funnier. Maybe there could be a connection between them and the four riders of the apocalypse?
I want there to be a concrete divide between the divine/occult and eldritch, so that it's not just Hell's horror department and Angels and Demons are separate from monsters and avatars. But in universe not a lot of people know about the existence of either (aside from faith of course, which isn't the same as knowledge), so the ones that do encounter them have little to no basis for telling them apart. Also the Fears have a more active presence on Earth, so Angels and Demons often get mistaken for avatars by those in the know about the Fears.
The broad strokes of both narratives stay the same, so the GO apocalypse is prevented, but then TMA eyepocalypse happens and GO's characters are really salty about it. The eyepocalypse doesn't trigger a war between Heaven and Hell because of a legal loophole.
Tadfield is completely immune to the influence of all the fears because of Adam's powers, like Salesa's safehouse during the eyepocalypse or like how Aziraphale and Crowley hid Gabriel from Heaven and Hell with a miracle. Aziraphale's bookshop and the building with elevators to Heaven and Hell are the same in that aspect due to the concentration of divine/occult energy. This also applies during the eyepocalypse.
Aziraphale is Jurgen Leitner's biggest hater. He drunkenly made the Jurgen Leitner rant™ in universe while Crowley was cackling and wheezing on the floor. He's been "in correspondence" with Jonah Magnus 200 years ago and is the reason Jonah got obsessed with immortality in the first place. They first met each other at a discreet gentlemen's book club. Aziraphale deeply regrets ever talking to him. He had to fight off Mike Crew with a broom, when he was still looking for a Leitner to call his own. People in the know about the Fears, but not the existance of Angels and Demons assume Aziraphale to be an avatar of the Eye, possibly another Archivist.
Crowley's assumed to be an avatar too, but noone can agree what fear he serves. For a time Desolation was a popular theory, which he hated. Now they lean more toward the Web, the Stranger or the Spiral. He knew Maxwell Rayner back when he was Edmond Halley, because they were both in the astronomy circles at the time. A lot of the things he takes credit for on his reports to Hell are actually the doing of Fear avatars, it works out, because Hell refuses to acknowledge the Fears as a point of pride and noone bothers to check.
Gertrude thought about blowing up the bookshop, but Aziraphale convinced her otherwise. They had tea.
Jared Hopworth called Aziraphale a slur once and had to promptly change career paths.
Jon and Martin passed through Tadfield at some point during the eyepocalypse and met Adam. It was kind of awkward, but they got to pet Dog.
Agnes Nutter wasn't an avatar, she was just like that. Her prophecies mostly didn't concern the Fears, aside from telling one of her descendants not to go to the hundred and fifth house on a road atop a hill.
Anathema and Newt stay as far away from the Fears as possible, especially after Newt's encounter with Sergey Ushanka (Newt accidentally deleted him).
Everyone thinks Shadwell and Tracy are avatars, of the Hunt and the End respectively. They're not. They're just scammers. Tracy likes that it makes her seem more legitimate. Shadwell doesn't like the Fears, but he doesn't count them as witchcraft (except for the Flesh, because nipples, obviously), so he doesn't really care.
Nina and Maggie on the other hand are avatars. They're pretty good at hiding it though. Not sure which ones, probably the End and the Vast. Nina's ex is an avatar of Corruption.

Day 5 - November 15th
Thankfully, the work deadline is over and I can have a little less stress in my life.
I wasn’t super hungry starting off the day so kept it light.
Breakfast - 2 buttered eggos
Snack - Clementine
I feel like I have been doing a descent job in incorporating a fruit for either breakfast or a morning snack this week.
I get off at noon(ish) on Fridays so lunch was a grab to eat in the car. I got a Cesar salad wrap from our office/building market - it was the best option available. However, I also got some chips and dip to go with it from my Target pick up order.
Traffic stepped in at the end of eating lunch when I was still eating the chips and dip because I had to slam on my breaks and the dip flew off the seat to the floor THANKFULLY SITTING FACEUP AND NO SPILLS! So, I rolled up the chips and was like I’m done.
Today I was going to moms after work (after picking up @hrstories1234 and our dog). She didn’t feel like cooking and neither did I - so even tho it wasn’t food from home I choose to order a Jersey Mike sub - I figured it was a descent option. Mom actually had us stop to get Captain D’s for her and it smelled so good - but I decided I didn’t need the fried food so held off and stuck to my plan.
Oh, but as we were heading to moms we did stop and get Starbucks because I promised Hayden we’d get one for the drive - plus I was la tired.
Late night treats - 4 Nutter Butter Cookies
Super Late Snack - Hot Chocolate/French Vanilla coffee (from gas station because driving home at midnight from moms)
That wraps up the day - honestly food wasn’t that bad and I was never stuffed just satisfied. I think not feeling stuffed after eating is a big deal for me this week.
I have also noticed at night I’m not food full tired - I am just tired from the day. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it does to me.
Didn’t take too many photos, but enjoy what I have. lol

Meet the Members of Neo Team Nice
Forzen
Being only 19 and with a rapidly expiring student visa when the game ended, Forzen was very lucky to meet up with his two American cousins in order to maintain a permanent residence in New Mexico with said cousins and the 15 other people that left the military after the Resonance Cascade.
Adrian Shephard
A guy that's in the same boat as Gordon when it comes to being puppeted around by a Player, although his Player seemed a bit kinder than Gordon's...if a bit trigger happy.
Mitchell Shephard
Gordon's Player had a copy of Hunt Down the Freeman that went rogue, resulting in a very sentient Mitchell. He ended up confined in a Virtual Machine for several months before eventually being ported into the Post Game with his brother, Adrian. He is so serious about everything that it is almost laughable.
Jackson
He got an experimental surgery that gave him the Black Mesa Sweet Voice, but he never learned how to turn it off. He carries a fake cigar in his mouth to avoid suspicion about the BMSV. His favorite BMSV tone is Miku.
Johnson
Not to be confused with Jackson. His number one lifelong aspiration was to become a dragon...his second was becoming an engineer. He ended up going with the latter.
Tower
Literally the coolest guy you could ever meet. He goes skateboarding with Eddy on weekends and works at Poastgame's local Radio Shack.
Eddy
He is Neo Team Nice's only registered nurse, but literally everybody is actively trying to avoid getting injured or sick because they would feel bad about making him take care of them. His hobbies include skateboarding and dog-walking, sometimes simultaneously.
Adam and Nick
Started playing Gay Chicken and simply decided to never call for a winner. They both work at Home Depot and are tasked with making sure people aren't making out in the Lumber Aisle.
Mike
The tech guy that knows how to fix computers and phones. Favorite candy is Skittles. He insists that Dave is his rival.
Dave
The tech guy that know how to program code and hack into databases. Favorite candy is M&Ms. He thinks Mike is trying to flirt with him and is simply bad at it.
Sean
Certified Truck Freak and designated driver for the Jeep Jumble, a limousine-shaped Jeep summon by the military through unknown means but nonetheless serves as the perfect vehicle for Neo Team Nice.
Jimmy
The acquisitioner of weapons for Neo Team Nice, he's pretty sure the End of Days is near and he wants his buddies to be strapped when it happens. He has an uncle in Europe that taught him how to use a shotgun.
Boyd
Knows how to cook, but only when he's winging it. Giving him a recipe somehow always results in disaster.
Dee
A random private that ended up in Black Mesa. He's the military equivalent to Tommy and has a tabby cat named Fanta (he loves all animals, though). Ironically, he and Tommy are unaware of each other's existences.
D. Nutter / Mrs. Coomer
One of Dr. Coomer's ex-wives. She only uses Coomer's name on legal documents and would otherwise prefer to be called either Darlene or Sergeant Nutter.
Lydia
A former black op that bailed on completing her mission upon becoming sentient (like Forzen)
Anthony
A totally normal guy that is definitely, 100% not a Gene Worm.

Robert Zeidman, a software developer, took Lindell up on a so-called “Prove Mike Wrong” challenge at an event the election-denier hosted. Participants in the challenge could win $5 million if they proved data Lindell provided about the 2020 election wasn’t real election data, according to rules the participants agreed to. The contest allowed participants to arbitrate if needed.. . .
Lindell had hoped a federal judge would wipe out the $5 million award to Zeidman. But the judge, John Tunheim of the US District Court in Minnesota, refused to do so on Wednesday.

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️
Another week, gone. We’re picking up the grandkids this morning so I’ll have to get this put together quickly this morning. Sorry, grandpa duty calls! 👴🏼
I’m finishing this off in the car as we go to get them. 🤣
Hope you enjoy the links.

The GOP’s abandonment of Ukraine makes me ashamed to be an American
This is gut wrenching. Ukraine is standing between Russia and Europe. That nutter in Russia isn’t going to stop at Ukraine. He’ll go until someone can stop him.

“Leave the World Behind,” which is based on a 2020 novel by American author Rumaan Alam and produced by among others Barrack and Michelle Obama, is nothing less than a modern-day version of Alfred Hitchcock’s unforgettable 1963 hit “The Birds.”
I watched this last night and I really liked it. If you have Netflix check it out.

Once upon a time — way back in, like, 2004 or something — I used to turn my nose up at sites that served an RSS feed with only an excerpt. It felt, I think I would have said, like a sleazy way to drive clicks. (“Information wants to be free!” etc. 🙄) Twenty years on I still read a ton from RSS feeds, but I found recently that I’m starting to thaw on that position quite a bit.
Ashur, what happened to the curmudgeon in you? 😃
As a developer of a feed reader I get request to display the full article and it’s what I prefer so I don’t have to visit the website. That’s a feature on the feature list for Stream. One of these days.

Earlier this year, a developer slid into Eric Migicovsky’s DMs with a spectacular claim: that he had reverse engineered Apple’s iMessage, allowing any device — Android, Windows, whatever — to send messages as a blue bubble. Migicovsky didn’t believe what he was reading.
This is an interesting read. Bravo to the 16-year old who figured it out!

But Overcast does exist, and it’s the app where most people with exquisite taste in UI are listening to podcasts.
Poor Castro has languished and definitely doesn’t have the geek recognition Overcast does. I’d imagine that’s why it’s the number one podcast player in John’s stats.
As far as UI preferences and paradigm go, Castro fits me better.
I’d love to be able to buy it from Tiny and keep working on it. I’ve already shared my opinion on the matter.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, whose grand vision for America includes transforming every uterus in the country into a Pez dispenser, is convinced he’s the North American Moses who will lead his people to the Promised Land.
Yeah, this guy wants a theocracy. No thank you.
Sure, the Christians might agree with you but what about Jews, Muslims, Buddhists? Name your religion. It’s not right. Our First Amendment was setup to protect us from a theocracy, but we all know the G.O.P. doesn’t really care about the Constitution.

The Comixology app, the mobile incarnation of the digital comics platform owned by Amazon since 2014, has finally shuffled off this mortal coil.
I’ve had ComiXology for a number of years but I never went for the subscription. I just don’t read enough. I don’t see this as a bad move. Comics are just another type of book and the Kindle App is fine for reading.
ESPN
While four teams are celebrating the opportunity to play for a national title on the field, undefeated ACC champion Florida State is on the outside, becoming the first unbeaten Power 5 conference winner to ever miss out on the College Football Playoff.
This broke a lot of hearts and it’s a real shame the 12 team — why not 16 — playoff wasn’t in place this year.
Of course I say that and my own thoughts on the matter didn’t include Florida State.
I also thought Georgia should have been in. Off by one error. We got Alabama from the SEC instead.
Apple
Apple TV+ today shared the first images from “Constellation,” a new eight-part, conspiracy-based psychological thriller drama starring Noomi Rapace (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “You Won’t Be Alone”) and Emmy Award nominee Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”).
So, yeah, I’m looking forward to this! Anything with Noomi Rapace in it is good in my book.

The Author
Lord, do you really want to know?
Oh, all right.
I was born in Vancouver, Canada, and came to Australia with my parents when I was 2. I think. Dad’s an Aussie, Mum’s English, go figure. Talk about Fate and Destiny. But three passports come in handy.
I’ve always lived in Sydney, except when I didn’t. After graduating with a BA Communications from the then Institute of Technology (now University) a few years ahead of Hugh Jackman, dammit, talk about rotten timing, I headed off to England and lived there for 3 years. It was interesting. I worked for a bunch of nutters in a community health centre and got the sack because I refused to go do EST with them (you stand in the middle of a circle and thank people for hurling verbal abuse at you for your own good, they said, and then were surprised when I said no), was a customer services officer for DHL London (would you believe at one time I knew every single airport code for every single airport in the world, off by heart?!?), got roped into an extremely dubious life insurance selling scheme (I was young and broke, need I say more?) and ended up realizing a life-long dream of working professionally with horses. After 18 grueling months I woke up, and came home.
Since then I’ve done customer service in the insurance and telecommunications industries, been a training officer, PR Officer in local government, production assistant in educational publishing, taught English and Business Communication at TAFE, been a supervisor and run my own sf/fantasy/mystery bookshop. Money for jam, there! I also managed to squeeze in a Master’s Degree in Children’s Literature from Macquarie University.
I used to have horses of my own, and spent lots of time and money showing, breeding, training and judging, but then I came off one time too many and so a large part of my life ended.
When I’m not writing I’m heavily involved in the Castle Hill Players, my local community theatre group, as an actor, director, prompt, stage manager (but not all at once!) and publicity officer.
I’m a story junkie. Books, film, tv ... you name it. Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica (the new series), Stargate, Firefly, X-Men, Buffy, Angel, Supernatural, The Professionals, Forever Knight, Due South, The West Wing, The Shield, Sandbaggers, Homicide, Wiseguy, The Shield, The Closer ... and the list goes on. And that’s just the media stuff!
I love music. While writing I listen primarily to film soundtracks, because they’ve been written primarily to evoke emotional responses in the listener. This helps access emotion during tough scenes. Plus, the music is pretty. At least the stuff I listen to is. Favourite film composers include Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, James Horner and John Williams. Vocalists I enjoy are Josh Groban, Russell Watson, Sarah McLachlan, Simon and Garfunkel , Queen, The Moody Blues, Steeleye Span, Meatloaf, Mike Oldfield ... anyone who can carry a tune, basically.
In short, I’m an only child with an overactive imagination, 3 dogs, 2 cats and not enough hours in the day. I don’t drink, smoke, or do enough exercise. I make periodic stabs at eating properly. Chocolate is my besetting downfall.
So that’s me. You can wake up now ...

If there had been a third season of punisher the opening scene would be frank breaking into whatever prison kingpin is in and putting a bullet in his head for making Karen cry
Honestly this is a #mood HOWEVER (and this is just my humble opinion):
If this could happen, I would prefer that it would take a bit more time than that. I want Karen and Frank working together to take him down. Maybe have the help of a few close, trusted friends. I want Karen to face him down again, do what she did™ in DDS3 and this time, have it not get interrupted and actually affect Kingpin. I want a few more scenes between Frank and Kingpin where he’s playing to Frank’s weaknesses. And it seems like Kingpin is getting to him but in truth, Frank it that good™ at deception. It can end with Frank going up to Kingpin and putting the bullet in his head but the journey to that point is what I care about.
Not saying it has to take an entire season but like give me some solid episodes where they give Kingpin his due justice.
tl;dr A good, well told story that takes time and develops nicely with a satisfying conclusion > sticking a bullet in a character’s head with little to no development or effort and making it easy and convenient
#ask#prison-mikes-bandana#mod post#kind of#Also didn't know how to add to this what might be an unpopular opinion#But I did not like how Billy died at the end of TPS2#It was super unsatisfying for me#Probably because his whole storyline revolved around fucking Dr. Nutters#But Frank finally tracks him down#After chasing him for most of the season#And just kills him#Right there#I mean#That kind of sucked in my opinion

okay so um francis @by-thunder gave a brainworm with his tags abt a mamma mia monkees musical so. here's my ideas for
Monkee Mia (working title)
first of all this would have to be a fusion/crossover w some of the og mamma mia characters just bc there is Not enough recurring monkees characters to fill all the roles :')
SO
Micky as Donna -
i think he fits well as the wild character who was getting it on w all three of the others on some greek island . also because i love projecting wanted the story to make sense, micky is trans <3 i can't decide whether he was out when his kid was conceived and the Fathers knew, or if he's come out since and now its like surprise !!! that masc girl you got with 20 years ago is a guy now (and you still find him hot)
Mike as Sam -
basically mike is engaged and getting married too young to try n ignore the fact that he's gay, and obviously it's not going to be a very happy future for mike (or his fiance). and then he meets micky - so quick sidetrack here, i can't think of a way mike would get to greece? on his own? so either the whole story is actually just set in LA or cali wherever instead of greece OR micky gets w mike in california and then soon after goes to greece (this could work for the whole 'i came back 2 weeks later and you were gone' thing) - okay so yeah they have like a few weeks or aonth together? and they fall in love ofc, but then micky finds out about mike's fiance (phone call or letter or the classic finding a photo) and they fight and mike goes back (to texas? to his fiance anyways) and then yeah the whole 'i broke it off w my fiance and came back for you but you were already gone' thing - however that works out
Peter as Bill -
idk most of my reasoning here is that he's also a scandinavian hippy who would 100% just travel around in a boat if he could... he meets micky (if we're doing greece then they meet in greece and peter has a boat like bill does; if just cali then i think he's more of a roaming surfer) at like. the beach i guess, they have a fling for a couple noghts and then part amicably - i think peter's moving onto somewhere else, and they split as friends :)
Davy as Harry -
again my justification here is mainly that i can easily equate the characters - davy as a timid little queer-coded english guy isnt that hard to imagine lmao. anyways instead of how in the movie harry basically sleeps with donna to try n convince himself that ge's straight, this is davy having like. his first gay experience. i think if we do greece then they meet in greece bc davy's doing the whole english boy does the Med thing for like a gap year or whatever, and if we do cali then he's visiting the west coast from new england where he's doing broadway or uni or smth. either way they have like a one night stand, and davy afterwards somehow manages to briefly bump into peter - not knowing who he is of course but i think maybe pete helps him sort some stuff out (they probably meet in a bar or something)
uhhh in terms of the main storyline with the fathers showing up to the wedding, i'm just gonna leave sophie and skye as they are and have their same storyline lol .... that is not the focus here. obviously Sophie's dynamic w each of them will be different to the og dads:
i think mike is the one who teaches her some guitar and is all like omg... youre so quick to learn... and they have that cute little bond w him being a biiit awk over the whole 'micky's kid' thing but he gets over it eventually
peter teaches her about either the boat or surfing and they just have a super chill vibe.. he shows her some photos of him & mick in the hippy days (more later on time period setting)
davy & sophie go into hysterics over what a nutter micky was for just getting it on with this rando he found moping arnd the beach (and talk abt his awakening etc?) and they're besties from there i reckon
okay so about time period setting:
as much as the original mamma mia is iconic for being in like a timeless little greek town, i think it's important to have the time period when all of them met (and sophie was conceived) be the late 60s, bc well. thats when the show characters existed & were young. that doesnt mean it would be specifically set in the late 80s or whatever bc again - timeless greek island (unless we do the beach of course which . idk what would happen w that id just not refer to current events) but yeah . summer of love etc <3
if i did end up writing this i'd probably change sophie's character up a liiittle just to make her more matched with what micky's kid would be like, but probably not skye bc he's a bit 2D anyways (would def change the names but idk what to)
i'd keep tanya&rosie as micky's friends bc theyre honestly perfect as is, and would include them in flashbacks pre much the same as in mm:hwga (rosie would fancy peter etc)
me and my friend had the atrocious idea of calling their trio 'micky and the minnies' instead of donna and the dynamos, which i would definitely not do but i DO think they should still have their singing group bc !!!! micky can sing boy !!!!! and i love the idea of him doing the whole glam rock glitter thing for sophie's hen party <3
anyways yeah plot pretty much stays the same, sophie & sky end up travelling instead of getting married, i dont think mike would outright propose to micky (ambiguous setting is suddenly a bit questionable once you start thinking abt gay marriage/recognition of trans people etc) but they def get together in a more private moment that same day.. im not saying peter/rosie endgame if anything it's tanya/rosie endgame and peter/davy endgame even if both are ambiguous bc i believe thats how the og movie shoulda worked out anyways >:)
this is absolutely batshit wild all over the place. and i think i need to actually write this AU now.... but lmk if you guys have any further thoughts !!
