After Gaza truce, international community must keep pressure on Israel, Palestinian PM says

The international community will have to keep up the pressure on Israel after a ceasefire in Gaza, the Palestinian prime minister says.

Negotiators in Doha are trying to broker a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip after 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas that has left tens of thousands dead.

The international community will have to keep up pressure on Israel to agree to a Palestinian state after a truce in the Gaza Strip deemed inevitable, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa said on Wednesday.

Mustafa said ahead of a meeting in Oslo on a two-state solution, Israeli and Palestinian, in the Middle East:

“The truce we are talking about (…) is mainly due to international pressure. It shows that the pressure is bearing fruit.”

Israel “must realise what is just and what is unjust, and that the veto on peace and a Palestinian state will no longer be accepted or tolerated,” he added, speaking to the press.

The Palestinian prime minister made the remarks on the sidelines of the third meeting of the “International Alliance for the Two-State Solution,” which is attended by representatives of some 80 states and organisations.

Negotiations on a ceasefire agreement “in the final stages”

At the same time, negotiators in Doha are trying to finalise a ceasefire agreement in Gaza after 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas that has killed tens of thousands of people in the Palestinian territory. Qatar, which is the main mediating country along with the United States and Egypt, said the talks were “at the final stage” and “major issues” had been resolved, but did not specify which ones.

On Wednesday, the Kremlin said it was “cautiously optimistic” about a truce in Gaza, which has been portrayed as inevitable, deeming a cessation of hostilities “extremely necessary” amid a “humanitarian catastrophe.”

“A ceasefire and a truce are extremely necessary for the people who remain in Gaza and who are experiencing these absolutely inhuman difficulties and need a ceasefire, all possible forms of humanitarian aid,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Finally, a spokesman for Palestinian Islamic Jihad told AFP on Wednesday that a delegation from its movement had travelled to Qatar to take part in discussions with other Palestinian groups on prisoners to be released in the event of a truce in Gaza.

“A delegation of leading members of the Islamic Jihad movement arrived in Doha on Tuesday night to take part in the final negotiations on a ceasefire agreement in Gaza,” a spokesman for the armed group, which is allied with Hamas, said.

Yeah, whatever he's saying it for peace. To him its a piece of property that he wants. Typical. And let's say he's entertaining the idea of peace.

If Trump really wanted to help out the people in Gaza and slow down the war. Then open up America for Palestinian refugees. They don't have to go but they can. And it sure as hell isn't forcing a bunch of countries into a situation they DO NOT WANT.

Trump is all against immigration unless it involves other countries. If you don't want it, WHY WOULD JORDAN AND EGYPT??? They're FAR SMALLER THAN THE US! And please, do not get me started on immigration in the US. America is built on immigrants.

As far my take on the Israel-Gaza conflict, I am for the dead children. Neither side is going about it right. Hamas does not represent the Palestinians as a people, they are simply an extremist group. Israel is murdering civilians. I hate both sides and no, there is not one side is right. IT'S COMPLICATED.

Personally, I am for the dead children. For the dead innocents who are dying in all of these attacks.

Donald Trump says US will take over Gaza Strip, make “the Riviera of the Middle East”

US President Donald Trump has called the Gaza Strip a “demolition site” and said US authorities plan to take control of Gaza, “flatten it” and will make “the Riviera of the Middle East” of it, US media reported.

During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and at a press conference after the talks, Trump said the Palestinians had “no choice” but to leave Gaza because of the destruction caused by the Israel-Hamas war. He described Gaza as a “very dangerous and unsecure demolition site” and said the Palestinians “would love to leave.”

The US president emphasised:

“I don’t know how they could want to stay. It’s a demolition site.”

Trump’s comments marked the first time he has publicly floated the idea of permanently relocating Palestinians from Gaza. In his opinion, it is possible to relocate Gazans to Jordan, Egypt or “other places.”

Trump stressed that Palestinians from Gaza should be relocated to “a beautiful area with homes and security so they can live their lives in peace and harmony.”

“The US will take control over the Gaza Strip and we will deal with it,” he said.

Trump said the US would “own” Gaza, be responsible for “dismantling all dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons” and clearing Gaza’s land of destroyed buildings. He also said Gaza should not be rebuilt “by the same people who led a miserable existence there.” The US president envisioned that the Palestinians of Gaza would move to a new place where “they will not be shot and killed.”

“The only reason the Palestinians want to go back to Gaza is because they have no alternative,” Trump said.

Not for Gazans

He believes the US will gain “long-term ownership” of Gaza, which will bring “greater stability” to the entire Middle East region. Trump claims that everyone he has spoken to is “thrilled with the idea that this piece of land will belong to the United States.” He also noted that US troops would be stationed in the Gaza Strip “if necessary.”

“The New Riviera” that Trump wants to build in Gaza will not be for Palestinians. He emphasised that the US is not going to pay for new homes for Palestinians and the new Gaza could be home to “people from all over the world.” At the same time, Trump said he “doesn’t necessarily support�� Israeli settlements in Gaza.

Criticising the idea of creating a “Riviera”

Commenting on Trump’s statements, US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said that the US president has “completely lost his mind.” Murphy said a US invasion of Gaza would lead to the deaths of thousands of American soldiers and decades of wars in the Middle East.

The Saudi government said shortly after Trump’s speech that it rejected any attempt to force Palestinians off their land. Saudi authorities emphasised that they would not establish relations with Israel unless a Palestinian state was established.

Meanwhile, Greece’s former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis wrote on X:
