What is your defence in? This is a question every one of us must ask and answer. Another way to ask this is, what do you boast in? What makes you feel superior or inferior to others? It’s time to consider if we see others as we see ourselves.

We are still reeling from the senseless attack that sadly led to the loss of the lives of three young girls who had their entire futures ahead of them. My thoughts and prayers go out to their families and others who are still recovering from the physical and psychological trauma of the attack. Unfortunately, the attention, prayers, love and support that should have been directed to the victims…

Common Miconceptions about qJaiden!

She likes or is proFederation! False!

-She is not fond of the federation at all and the only ones she truly cares about from them are the Cucurucho's, the ones she spent 2 weeks with in isolation, which obviously has problems of its own. She has stated and told people multiple times that only cucurcucho matters to her and not the federation as a whole.

If it doesnt matter to a character in the server or to you as a viewer and you align cucurucho the same as the federation, thats completely fair, but its important to include that distinction when talking about qjaiden's character as the difference is important to her and her perception.

She was raised/an experiment by the Federation/Cucurucho! Uncomfirmed!

-it has not been stated anywhere the true nature between qjaiden and cucurucho's/the Federation's past. All we know is that qJaiden "helped" the federation/cucurucho in some way and they need her help again. It is not canon that Cucurucho was ever her father figure nor that Jaiden is somehow a mother figure/caretaker of them.

-Jaiden is fully aware of cucurucho's wrong doings and is not naive about the fact that they may be manipulating her. Although she IS attached to them, remember that the whole reason she started working with the Federation is for the gauranteed safety of the eggs, which they failed to do. She is not ignorant of this fact btw, she's aware that they failed to keep their end of the bargain but she's also aware that she's gotten far with her relationship with the Cucurucho's and consequently the Federation, which she believes may be used to her advantage. She's also not always agreeing or in line with what Cucurucho does, as seen when she found out about the Happy Pills and Forever being drugged, which ended with her waiting for hours to confront Cucurucho in anger but spiraled to somewhat of a breakdown as she becomes scared and nervous and tells herself that she cannot mess up their relationship now as she has gotten so far. QJaiden is fully aware and understands the drastic consequences that her actions may take, she is not naive or ignorant.

1. What did Alias think about Karlach's backstory with Gortash and Zariel?

She was able to sniff out that the Paladins of Tyr weren't Paladins even BEFORE meeting Karlach because they used Speak with Dead on the dead merc in there (and she's a paladin herself so she could just sense they were posers)—so she empathized with Karlach from the beginning. They hit it off pretty much immediately. Especially as Act 2 rolled around, they were fully prepared to help Karlach rip Gortash a new one—they would've fought Zariel, too, if it was necessary.

Of course, they didn't remember Gortash at the time, but they hated him even when they were Bhaal's Chosen (really complicated situation for them). I know Durgetash seems to be fairly popular on here but Alias did NOT have that kind of relationship with him. It's safe to say she wasn't too upset about him dying. I actually HC that she and Karlach met when she was working for Gortash too (but that's a different conversation).

2. How did Alias feel about Karlach using soul coins? Did they give her any?

She was angry that Karlach even asked about it. Honestly I think this is one of the few times in the game that Alias was ever genuinely upset with Karlach for anything.

You know how Karlach brushes off using them by saying "the souls are lost anyway"? That's not true. Like. At all. This is what the Descent to Avernus sourcebook says about Soul Coins:

"Casting a spell that removes a curse on a soul coin frees the soul trapped within it. [...] A soul can also be freed by destroying the coin that contains it."

Remove Curse is a mid-level spell. It's a spell that half the party knows how to cast by Level 10, including Alias herself. Knowing that, using the Soul Coins for Karlach's engine would be INSANELY evil.

Does Karlach KNOW any of this? Probably not! But it wouldn't be difficult for Alias to find out since she bought the treatise on Soul Coins from Blurg in the Underdark.

So no, Alias doesn't let Karlach touch them. You can't do it in the game but I HC that Alias freed them once they figured out how.

When Halsin asked Alias to share something personal, what did they say?

The actual in-game options for this are very limited, but in MY MIND the conversation they had was much longer.

Having amnesia obviously makes it difficult for you to remember things about yourself, but Alias at least TRIED to remember what little she could and answered the same questions she asked him. I imagine she told him that she also had no family based on what little she could remember (which isn't totally untrue) and shared some of the things she likes, too (music, reading, alchemy, etc). She also used it as an opportunity to catch him up on some of the things that happened to them before he joined the party (because that's really the only meaningful part of life of her life she could remember at the time).

The two of them are also Very Tall and most others tend to form a lot of miconceptions about both of them just based on how they look, so I think they bonded a little over that during that conversation too (Alias only points out the fact that he's "large for an elf" because Alias isn't really that much smaller than him—it was an attempt to find something in common more than anything)

lil mini Tyran lore dump

{Tyran is my MLP AU whose main premise is that several thousand years after the show takes place the world is recovering from several different wars, including nuclear/magical ones}

so ive been meaning to talk more about Tyran here in general because it is something i am really proud of but my drawing skills have not been going so well lately (possibly due to a several day migraine) so I am just gonna yap a bit about tyran

a lot of it is still in development but I am thinking there will be around 10 continents, all very large in size (Tyran itself is many times larger than Earth, although its gravity is roughly the same which is unrealistic but shhhhh). Each continent has a different history but in modern day all except for Tyrangue are virtually the same; flattened, rubble-filled wastelands that are barely, if at all, recovered from magical radiation and nuclear warfare. magical radiation has a significant effect on the population, especially non-unicorns who do still have ways to utilize magic but not as easily and directly. most of the radiation that floods the land is magical in nature but there are some areas where you have the more traditional nuclear wastes. unicorns are better able to handle magical radiation in general because their horns serve as an easy outlet for the radiation; the more irradiated they are the more out of whack their magic will become. They will have frequent magical outbursts of increasing power as their body attempts to excrete their radiation, which will work, but will be exhausting. The magical outbursts are a huge risk to the ponies themselves as well as all life around them as they will have no control over how the magic presents itself and what exactly happens, though, so it isn't necessarily that unicorns are "immune" to the effects or anything like that. Although the individual irradiated unicorn is technically less likely to die themselves from magical overload when compared to, say, an irradiated earth pony, other life is at significantly greater risk because of the nature of how defensive magic presents itself (random lightning strikes, explosive beams of energy, levitation of surrounding objects and creatures...)

All life on Tyran, even down to a bacterium, has some level of magic, usually quite proportional to the sentience/mental capacity of the individual (for example, a bear is much larger than a pony but ultimately has less magical energy attributed to it and is very unlikely to be able to use "traditional" magic at all). Throughout Equus and Tyran's history (same planet, different time periods) it has been a long-standing miconception that unicorns are the only "true" magic users and that they are superior to all forms of life other than alicorns. However, magic contained within earth ponies, pegasi, and other species has long been documented. A notable example would be Pinkie Pie, who is known for having had inconceivable amounts of power that presented itself in unpredictable ways (including the ability to know things that she should not know; i.e. breaking the fourth wall).

Since I someday hope to maybe? be able to publish works involving Tyran, I plan on changing names of characters that existed in the show and changing their designs/backstories somewhat to avoid potential legal issues -- although honestly, a big part of my reasoning here is just that that sounds fun. I don't have much developed for the mane six aside from wanting to change their elements to be more intricate or "mature" and to, in my opinion, better represent the aspects of friendship. My current plan for the lineup of elements is as follows: Rarity - Inspiration (an obvious choice for me, since this was her original element and I like it a lot more for her than generosity) Fluttershy - Patience Pinkie Pie - Mirth Applejack - Communication Rainbow Dash - Confidence Twilight Sparkle - Bond

I am thinking that Princess Celestia and Princess Luna will be Princess Solstice and Princess Equinox, respectively -- I also might have them be referred to as queens instead, but I don't want to contribute to the false idea that Queens = Evil (since Celestia will be not the purest of heart in this AU). Celestia (knowingly) and Luna (unknowingly) lie about their ability to move the sun and moon and instead are simply experts at illusory magic, able to make the whole nation of Equestria believe that the celestial bodies are moving faster than they actually are. Although they don't do it often, they also are capable of making it appear as though it is nighttime when it is not supposed to be and vice versa. I believe that Twilight Sparkle will find out about this falsehood but will force herself into a state of denial, unable to handle the reality of the situation. She will continue to try to uphold Celestia's positive image, perhaps even more strongly than before, and her friends will start to notice that something is wrong but will either not know how to approach Twilight on the matter or will attempt to do so, to no avail. I don't have much planned out for what will become of the mane six aside from this. I think eventually Twilight's five friends will learn the truth and will manage to get through to Twilight that it isn't right, convincing her to help them break the news to Luna.

At some point, Celestia and Luna are overthrown by Tyrani, a dictator and... well... tyrant, who utilizes their mistruths to convince the general public that they are complete frauds. The mane six are, for some reason, unable to stop her (potentially their bond as friends is broken by Twilight still struggling to accept the reality of the situation and trying to put a stop to their antics, even after agreeing to help? a betrayal? thus rendering the elements useless) and she sets out to completely bring the planet to ruins, creating her own city/kingdom that is the only place to remain safe from warfare and destruction. This kingdom remaining intact is what allows a rebellion to form that eventually overthrows them and the kingdom, now The Citadel, is the present-day hub for deities to live. The Citadel is a huge castle or cluster of castles surrounded by 4 quadrants of different biomes/environments in which varying creatures are able to live (based on the seasons) and is currently a prospering place where most ponies dream of someday visiting. The Citadel is inspired partially by the city of Zootopia but also by the land of Oz, where the Emerald City sits in the middle and four different kingdoms surround it. Once Tyrani was overthrown, the 27 members of the rebellion were all instated as deities and are now considered the 27 primary deities, seen as the most powerful/important by most although most are rather humble about it / don't want a ton of attention or applause. They see themselves as only having done their duty to repair the planet from the harm that Tyrani caused. Since Tyrani's kingdom was mostly intact, the deities hunkered down here and started rebuilding outwards from the city. Now, most of the continent is repaired to the point of being livable, and deities are starting to work on crossing over to other continents to start world repairs. This is difficult, though, with how different these outer continents can be -- and a lot of ponies and beings who threw out their morals a long, long time ago.

I could yap for longer but I think I will leave it here for now -- I would love to hear what people think and answer any questions about the world/development, although admittedly there are some things that I might not know yet! i will also try to make some art showing lore elements later, like potential redesigns of the mane 6 / celestia / luna and stuff like that. you can let me know if theres anything specific youd wanna see / hear about!! i love love love talking about tyran stuff

Im laughing my ass off at the Atlas slander oh my god- I will say altean’s blue is usually lighter than galra ���blue’ for me. I didn’t think their main color was blue, since I did check in with friends and quickly knew that they were purple.

Miconceptions I did have though usually had to do with episode specific things/characters later in the show. For example: I thought Nyma was green for a bit, I also thought Lotor was blue. Those are the two that are the most memorable examples for me.

i remember being really young and watching inuyasha late at night and i think there was some sort of attack or something that was referred to as a ‘miasma’ but I thought inuyasha said ‘my asthma’ and for a really long time I was like “oh yeah of course... he has asthma... he said it in an episode but it’s weird we never see him use an inhaler, i wonder why they never address inuyasha’s asthma??” like I was just waiting the whole series for his asthma to finally become relevant to the plot hgggh

@soup-stain that's actually a great question! I'm answering here because there's a character limit on replies and i think other people might have a similar question.

I think the first place to begin is keeping you from getting a virus is NOT the primary purpose of any vaccine, it's to make sure you don't become very ill from it. With a flu shot, for example, it's not that you're never getting the flu, but rather that if you're exposed to it, it'll probably just feel like a cold or you won't get any symptoms at all so you don't notice. And when you're not as sick, you're coughing less, sneezing less, and in general the contagious period for you is shorter and you're less likely to pass it on. All of this is also true for the COVID-19 vaccine.

So good news right off the bat! The COVID-19 vaccine will make sure you don't end up in the hospital and make it less likely that your germs will mess someone else up. There's also some exciting research coming out that shows the COVID-19 vaccine might reduce viral load, or the amount of virus in someone's blood (this affects how many COVID-19 particles you would exhale into the air). So that's another way it reduces spread potentially!

Not to mention any vaccine, if enough people in the population are inoculated, would create herd immunity. Herd immunity is when enough people are resistant to a virus in a population that it stops travelling freely and replicating! This is great because people who can not get vaccinated (disabled people, immunocompromised people, people with allergies, and children who do not have vaccines yet) become protected from the virus too! This is the goal! But it takes everyone else getting vaccinated to actually happen, or else the virus will continue spreading and mutating.

Finally, you're right, this is not our "traditional" vaccine so to say, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. It's an mRNA vaccine, meaning our bodies will use that information to produce the surface proteins of the virus (imagine it's like the virus's hat) and then create antibodies that recognize and attack those.

tldr; vaccines make sure you don't end up in the hospital, they DO reduce spread, they create herd immunity, and them being made with mRNA don't make them any less effective

I was talking to my mom recently about common miconceptions about depression, and how a lot of people think it's a constant doom and gloom feeling. For a little over a year now the lid to my coffee grinder was slightly broken so i had to stand and press it down whenever i made coffee. My pour over funnel had 2 cracks in it and wobbled on the pot. My kitchen sink had a broken piece on the bottom that made the whole faucet jangle when you touched it. Nothing was completely broken, but all those things were broken enough that it made using them inconvenient and annoying. That's what my depression feels like most of the time, not constant doom and gloom, but a frequent occurrence of things just not working as well as they should.

I've had a rough couple of days at work and was looking to the movies for a bit of distraction, but I  hardly get around to actually watching anything nowadays, because trying  to make up my mind already takes up most of my time and energy. The movie can't be too weighty, because I'm looking for escapism, but it can't be too slight either, because then it won't capture my attention. I really miss having crushes on actors; picking movies to watch was so much easier then.

For instance, I used to have a such a crush on James McAvoy, dating back to the library scene in Atonement. (I never laid any claims to originality). Clearly, he's decided to take his career in a different direction since then, more power to him, but I'm feeling a bit bereft. Anyways, at the height of my infatuation I went as far as using a picture of him as a background for my laptop. Lord knows what possessed me to do that - I had made it to uni without putting up a single poster of a celebrity in my bedroom or writing names in heart shapes or anything in that fashion, because I'm generally just not the type to go in for that sort of thing. And indeed, I never did again.

The problem with laptop backgrounds is that one might forget about them temporarily at inopportune moments, eg. when bringing the laptop along for a group project. My colleague asked me if that was my boyfriend. I was mortified.

Here's the thing: I do believe, from the bottom of my heart, my colleague didn't say that to make fun of me. She was one of those frightfully efficient women, who's super straight-forward - you could always take her at face value (type jock with a golden heart, think Steve Rogers or Carol Danvers); also I just don't remember ever seeing her make fun of anyone, that just wasn't her style. It's entirely possible she really thought the guy on the photo might be my boyfriend, because she didn't recognize James McAvoy (he hadn't been in the X-Men movies yet) and she's a pure hearted creature full of innonence and faith with no concept of notions like "out of your league" and "relative sexual market value"; or maybe just open-minded enough to entertain the wildest ideas, because you never know, do you?

Whatever, I was duly mortified, sure, but I also find it kinda heart-warming, the longer I think about it. Some people apparently really do have hope for all of us.

(It is a really nice memory, actually. I cleared up the miconception about the laptop situation and was saved from further elaboration by the arrival of the fourth team member, who had picked flowers for us to pin in button holes, reason being the beginning of spring,  and I remember thinking how lovely they looked, the girls and the flowers).

Change

Do people really change or the just get better at hiding? or maybe they just go so above and beyond to pretend? change maybe hard, but it’s not impossible? list those things you wish to change about yourself and make it your to do list of your life. I myself want to change a lot of things about myself, but recently I’ve come to conclusion that no matter  how much changes you perform upon your current self it’ll never satisfy you as long as you’re going by other people and society standards. It’s inevitable that no one is perfect, and you’ll never manage to live along with people standards because it’s a manifistaion of an endless race. At some point you will realize that you only matter to yourself, and you will just accept yourself the you are, but the realization is not enough to change the way you look at yourself. It’ll need some practice. I’m not saying that people should not change because change and changing is the way it works, life I mean. But what I’m saying is don’t just change because “people think“ or “They will think“.

We all want to love be loved, but this is one of the hardest things to process over the changes that step down upon you. I myself am one of the people that everyone hates, not because I am a bad person but simply becasue I am always misunderstood. But guess what, this is what people do, they redirect your intentions, miconcepting your actions and acuse you silently of not being typical because you do not match the society standards. But let me tell you that, no one ever thinks the way you do, that’s why people misunderstand you. “كل يرى الناس بعين طبعه“

If you’re clumsy, be it, if you’re hyper, be it, if you’re a tomboy, be it. Someday I don’t know when, but someday, somehow you’ll find someone who loves you the way you are, someone who just gets you, someone that doesn’t judge or do any of those things other people do, not necessarily a love interest but someone you’ll find peace with.
