just watched a video essay and realized how perfect missy's death is in the doctor falls. after the redemption arc this whole season, then the "will she wont she" that is this whole finale, guessing whether or not she'll actually do what's right this time, she chooses to abandon the doctor despite clearly considering it very heavily, and then changes her mind, kills her past self, and goes to stand with him for no other reason than it being the right thing to do. it feels like a very appropriate conclusion, and we as the audience are *so ready for it*. but we (and missy) have forgotten something, haven't we?
because what has the theme been this whole season since episode 6? "without hope, without witness, without reward". so logically, for missy's redemption arc to truly be complete, she needs to be good under these conditions. so let's check the situation. without reward? well that one's easy, standing with the doctor she'd literally be sacrificing her life, doesnt get much more "without reward". without hope? absolutely, nardole literally calls this out in the episode and the doctor agrees with him. even if this plan succeeds, the cybermen will get those people eventually. no matter what happens, they or their descendants will eventually be converted or killed. its a completely hopeless situation.
but without witness? if missy dies standing with the doctor, he'll know she was good in the end. she will have the satisfaction of showing him her completed character arc and having him recognize that she is, in fact, good.
and for the conclusion to *really* work, for her redemption arc to really be fulfilled, that can't happen. we need that second condition, "without witness", to be fulfilled. and so she has to die alone. it's another greek tragedy: it's clear in hindsight that this was always going to happen. it always *had* to happen. as the master says, *this* is where she was always going. shooting herself in the back. her past prevents her from moving forward in a very literal way (and in a way the fact that she doesnt anticipate him doing this shows how much better shes become, shes forgotten she was ever that evil and vindictive) but in a way it only solidifies her redemption. in the deepest pit, in the darkest hour, without hope, without witness, without reward, missy is truly good.
#doctor who#the doctor falls#missy#michelle gomez#the master#john simm#i realize this is incredibly obvious and also something that everyone figured out six years ago but i needed to scream about it

Sorry about how quiet it's been over here recently, I've had lots of exciting things keeping me busy!
I was so incredibly lucky yesterday and went to meet Matt Smith and Michelle Gomez at comic con! I had an absolutely phenomenal day, Michelle called me gorgeous and said she loved my eye makeup, and Matt said I had cool trousers and held my first ever sonic from 2010 for the picture! I also found a holy grail signed piece at the official merch desk for the convention, and can now say I own something signed by the mistress of the dark, Elvira!
I can safely say it's up there with the day I met Sacha as one of my most favourite things I've ever done- I'm so thankful that I was able to go down and experience it, and that I now have a few more autos and pictures to add to my collection!
#honestly It was so incredible#also so well organised!#now i just need to meet john simm and i've completed the master trifecta#matt smith#michelle gomez#11th doctor#missy doctor who#the master#doctor who#personal

Michelle Gomez Panel
Please note this IS NOT word for word, but so you can get a general gist of the panel. Both Michelle and Sacha were hilarious.
Whovians of all ages got to ask Michelle questions.
This post is just Michelle’s panel I’ll make separate posts for them together and Sacha’s panel soon!
How’s your New Zealand accent?
Bad I only have one and it’s Scottish I’ve been working on it my entire life… so 27 years. Lol
What was your favourite episode of Doctor Who to film?
I went to set and there was an army Daleks of every variety, and I stuck my 8 year old son in one and they started filming and I didn’t know were he was just that he in was in a Dalek.
Would you like to be in the new series of Doctor Who?
Hell yes, I’m just waiting for the call.
In Who and Sabrina you play a define feminine who was wronged by others what was your motivation to play these kind of villains?
With my face it’s hard not to plays witches and bitches and I long to play a character called Alison but Madam it is. I want to make sure I’m not just playing bad, I believe people are the way they are because of their experiences, so what makes them bad? That’s what interests me in the characters.
Did you like sitting on the throne of hell in Sabrina?
I loved sitting on it and wish I could have taken it home, I would have made room for it.
Did you Ad lib much in Doctor Who?
Steven Moffatt is a phenomenal writer so there’s not much you could add to it. But sometimes on the day something would fit. But Moffatt wrote to my strengths so I didn’t feel I needed to.
Why did you want to help the Doctor?
There’s a thing called a frenemy, keep your enemy’s close. They were originally friends and like all relationships they go through good times and bad times and sometimes they go their different ways. The master went to the dark side and the Doctor went to that other side. I was trying to bring in the nuance to that relationship
If you make it to the new series will you still help the Doctor?
No
If you put Missy and Lilith in a room together would they plot world domination or try to kill each other?
I think they would try each others costumes on. Once I wanted to bust of of Missy’s costume and it was hot so I took the top layer off and thought I’d just wear the petty coats in the scene, and Steven Moffatt was like… what are you doing? This is a children’s show, put your clothes back on. Lol. Lilith got lots of incredible costumes.
Being the last of the Timelords do you think the Master and the Doctor ever had a child?
Wow, I don’t know, I’m not sure the Doctor and the Master have those bits. They’re like Barbie and Ken. The first thing you do with a figurine of yourself is check.
What would you have changed about Missy’s costume?
I don’t think it could have been more Missy, it was a phenomenal image. It sent the message that Mary Poppin’s was the most evil woman in the Universe. There was a corset and after lunch I did hate the costume.
How did you get the role of Missy?
I was offered another part but I was doing psycho bitches at the time so I wrote to Steven Moffatt if you need a villainess I’m your man. Then a couple months later my agent called, said to sit down and that Steven was offering me the role of the Master, I was blown away. I might have planted the seed, I’d like to take credit for it.
If you could travel with any other Doctor and torment them who would it be?
Tom Baker
Do you like being the villain of Doctor Who?
I do. If anyone is listening I do, I would like to come back, stop fucking around, I’m available.
There’s episodes with multiple Doctors why can’t we have multiple Masters?
Because there’s only one! Although Sacha is quite good, I like Sacha.
Were you nervous the first time you were on TV?
Yeah, that was a long time ago on a show called The Bill and I played a ticket warden. The director said to do a banana around the car and slap a ticket on the window. I didn’t know what a ‘banana’ was so I acted like I was slipping on a banana, landed on the ground, the crew looked at me and I just jumped up and they told me what I actually needed to do.
What was your favourite part of being chaotic and fun with your Missy?
They let me piss about with focus, I could be physically free, I could dance and bounce a lot.
Can you share a funny moment on Doctor Who?
I was nervous, it was my first day, Peter and Jenna were there, when I get nervous I over compensate so I grabbed Peter, it’s like I go into some kind of black out, I threw him against the wall and snogged him, had my hand behind my back, because I knew that would make a nice visual, Jenna Coleman took my hand, that was my first 5 mins, it was weird.
What was it like being on set with Peter?
When I was younger I’d see Peter around and he was so cool like the David Bowie of paisley. And I looked up to him. When we started working together I felt like I already knew him, we had an instant short hand, so we crack each other up.
Shouting from the back…
Sacha: Oh so boring!
Michelle: SECURITY, SECURITY!
*Coming soon… there will be a part 2 with both of them and 3 with Sacha… I just don’t have time to post now.

In our voice-acting pantheon DA-DW, Michelle Gomez has been added who gave us the incredibly Missy and the divine voice of Ghilanain. She tickles Daleks and my nerves already in the second franchise.
Maybe there’re other voices from doctor who in veilguard?

Hello new follower! I am over 21, so I am not going to follow you back, but I thought I could send you an ask for the character ask game :)
I'd like to choose Missy as the character and the questions:
6. What's something you have in common with this character?
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?
I hope, you are having a good day!
ooh thank you!! I appreciate the not following back, and also when i tell you i love missy with my entire being is an understatement. SHE IS MY FAVOURITE PART OF THE ENTIRE SHOW HANDS DOWN!!
6: we are both so incredibly dramatic and sarcastic, theres this one thing on pinterest that pretty much sums it up (dont remember who the creator is sorry!!)
20: i feel like it has to be 12, they are everything, friends, enemies, lovers, annoyances etc.. i would love to see missy and river meet though!
24: not really a fandom but im the wicked witch in my schools production of wizard of oz and i am TAKING NOTES on missy's character and the way michelle gomez performs, she is MASTERFUL might i say, and is a great reminder that you dont have to shout to be equally intimidating, and that evil sort of playfulness? Also she would very much show up, threaten the doctor and his companions then laugh and leave with no further explaination, which is pretty much what i do the whole show!
Hope you have a good day too!

New thread for Capaldi!Doctor.
Deep Breath - "Here we go again." Excellent start for Capaldi!Doctor. I do love regeneration episodes and this one was a bit deeper than the usual madness. Always lovely to see the Paternoster gang. And Missy! Missy, my love. <3
Into the Dalek - Danny! "She cares so I don't have to." A good episode - a nice change to the usual Dalek ones. I like Journey, I think she should have come along.
Robot of Sherwood - A funny episode, good performances all around but nothing very exciting. Loved Capaldi!Doctor sword-fighting Robin Hood with a spoon though.
Listen - Creepy, sad, beautiful. Everyone is at their best. Love getting to see the baby!Doctor's history and Clara comforting him, and then comforting Capaldi!Doctor too. They are great together. As are Clara and Danny.
Time Heist - Love a heist. Especially a time-travel one. Keeley Hawes is always good and strangely, always terrifying. Clara looks magnificent. Love Psy and Saibra. I think we should have had little gang again.
The Caretaker - I still don't like all the weird posturing from the Doctor and Danny over Clara. She can do what she wants. They're idiots most of this episode.
Kill the Moon - I completely understand Clara's feelings. Jenna is excellent, as always. I love the moon being an egg and another one just being laid in its place.
Mummy on the Orient Express - Love the whole aesthetic. Love all of Clara's beautiful clothes. A really good murder-mystery. Tense, fun, nice resolution. Great episode.
Flatline - Really interesting concept. Love Clara taking on the Doctor's role and carrying around the TARDIS and the Doctor in her bag.
In the Forest of the Night - A lovely episode. The trees covering London and protecting the earth. The kids are great too.
Dark Water/Death in Heaven - I love Missy so much. Michelle Gomez is having an absolute blast and she looks so gorgeous while being completely deranged. I am sad Danny is dead though. Cyber-zombies. Poor Osgood. Poor Danny and Clara. Poor Missy. The Brig! <3 Danny is a very good boy.
Last Christmas - Doctor Who does Inception. Lots of fun and silliness with a lovely ending and Clara staying with the Doctor.
The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar - Have I mentioned that I love Missy. She should be in every single episode. Possibly of every TV show ever. What a brilliant pair of episodes this was. The best Dalek episode in a long time.
Under the Lake/Before the Flood - Very creepy and atmospheric. I enjoyed the story and I'm enjoying these two parters.
The Girl Who Died/The Woman Who Lived - I loved the first episode. It was fun and funny and Clara has grown-up so much, I'm proud of her. Capaldi!Doctor realising why he chose Caecilius' face was a really brilliant moment. The second episode was also good - though not as good, imo but it did have a great ending for the Doctor and Ashildr.
The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion - Kate having more to do is always a good thing and it's nice that we still have one Osgood at least - and then two! Good story with a great resolution and excellent work from Jenna as always.
Sleep No More - I'm going to be singing Mr Sandman all night now. It was a decent episode but nothing special storywise. Just there really.
Face the Raven - Brave, wonderful, stupid Clara. I love you. The whole episode was great and I know it's not her last episode but I think that was a good ending for her and perfectly in character.
Heaven Sent - Weird, fascinating and absolutely terrifying when you think about it. Peter Capaldi is incredible. But not an episode I'd want to rewatch honestly because it too much.
Hell Bent - I don't think we should blame Missy for this when she's not here to defend herself. Amy & Rory mention! I cried buckets because it was heartbreaking. Farewell, Clara!
The Husbands of River Song - And farewell, River (at least I assume it's a farewell). A lovely end to her story. I enjoyed Capaldi!Doctor getting to do the "bigger on the inside" speech he always wanted to hear.
The Return of Doctor Mysterio - The weakest of the specials, across any era, tbh. I don't have a lot to say about it.
The Pilot - Bill is fantastic. Love her. Enjoyed the chase across the universe and Heather doing what she promised Bill she would. Love the pictures of Susan and River on Capaldi!Doctor's desk.
Smile - The Happiness Patrol 2.0 Very good, very creepy, very sad. I wouldn't have lasted five minutes in a place I had to smile all the time.
Thin Ice - Ooo, Regency period, love it. Great episode. Loved the Doctor punching Sutcliffe and giving his house to the orphans. There should be more of that.
Knock Knock - Lovely creepy episode with a nice twist. I loved the Doctor going to have dinner with Missy and her playing the piano omg *hearteyes*
Oxygen - Interesting concept and very believable but not as thrilling as it should have been.
Extremis - I'm just going to sob about how much I love Missy forever. A really great epiode. I loved it - the simulations, Nardole being a badass.
The Pyramid at the End of the World - The weakest of the three I think, but the ending is good. I enjoyed the lab stuff more than the pyramid stuff.
The Lie of the Land - So proud of Bill for shooting the Doctor. I think she should have slapped him when he told her the truth though. I want a whole show just about Missy's time in the vault. I would watch her do anything.
Empress of Mars - Great episode, fabulous to look at. I really enjoyed the story and seeing Alpha Centauri again!!!
The Eaters of Light - Another lovely story. Missy and the Doctor at the end was obviously my favourite part but the supporting cast was excellent.
World Enough and Time - I don't think I breathed for the last five minutes. The Master in disguise is perfect and a perfect bastard. The start with Missy being "Doctor Who" is one of the best things ever on this show. I wish she could have been an actual companion. Poor Bill, she deserves better than this.
The Doctor Falls - Of course the Master is a bad influence on themself. Oh, Missy, I love you so, so much. And John Simm is looking fantastic. Two Masters - my dream come true. They're such shits but I love them. And I'm crying because she died. And that he didn't know she was going back to him. At least Bill gets a happy ending (ish).
Twice Upon a Time - Twelve and One and Bill and Polly and Ben and Mark Gatiss as the Brig's Grandad(?) and Clara. I am sobbing. Mostly it was hilarious and heartwarming, which was much needed after the previous episode. Hi Jodie!
Capaldi!Doctor Era Roundup
Honestly, it took a while for me to warm up to Capaldi!Doctor - not that I didn't like him, just that I didn't get him, I think. But by the end I loved him. Season 10 was probably my favourite. I liked him being grumpy and not wanting to hug people. I loved Clara and Bill and especially Missy. Excellent stuff.

top 5 side characters (from anything at all)
Oooooh side characters... that's a good question... I think I'll pick my fav side character from my most recent fandoms, one from each.
5) (Doctor Who) Missy- This incarnation of the Master is always very fun to watch, because her actress Michelle Gomez absolutely spends every second chewing the scenery clear off the walls. I also always enjoyed how they gave her a clear character arc in the seasons she appeared in- plus, it was lovely to see an incarnation of the Master who wasn't clear-cut "evil" as past ones have been, but rather Chaotic Neutral, and just in the game for the benefit of herself.
4) (The Legend of Zelda) Revali. A lot of the gaming community drags on this one, but I think there's a ton of interesting threads one can pull from what little we get of him in BotW canon that lend towards a fascinating picture of an incredibly insecure young warrior who's lashing out against someone (Link) who he sees as gaining everything he ever wanted but never working a second for it, as opposed to his hard, years-long struggle in perfecting his special flying ability. It's sad, in the end- because had he realized that Link was burdened by his own destiny and worked just as hard as he had to himself feel "deserving" of it, I bet they might've been able to find something to connect over, and became friends.
3) (The Adventure Zone) Barry Bluejeans- Goddammnit, FUCK YOU BARRY BLUEJEANS for having such a stupid ass name and making me CRY over you in just one 5 minute prologue! I really, really love this NPC... there's such a deep tragedy to his story- losing his wife and his whole found family and not even being able to remember that they're gone while in human form- and yet, every time he dies and goes back into lich form and remembers it all, still he manages to pick himself up and try again. Work harder. Work smarter. Set himself up for success each time he clones himself and returns to his human form to make his plan work. He fights tirelessly for YEARS without an ounce of thanks just because he loves his family and the world they've entered so much that he wants to make sure they'll all be safe, in the end. What a man.
2) (Gravity Falls) Fiddleford McGucket- For such an otherwise funny but unremarkable joke character back in season 1, it was amazing how the writers were ultimately able to transform him into such a tragic figure, and utilize him to give context to why the whole town literally pays no heed to any of the weirdness going on all around them. He's the sort of character who gives the show amazing re-watch energy- at this point, when I go back through the show, every single appearance he has just makes me feel incredibly sad- AND a lot of his otherwise "random" or "quirky" characteristics start to make a lot more sense. He's a man who lives in the dump, but is capable of building incredibly complex machines?" He's a literal genius mechanic who's simply gone through severe memory slippage. Said memory slippage? Self-inflicted by a memory erasing device he invented himself. Said memory erasing device? Has been used in the years since to purge the town of their memories of the supernatural. His backstory blasts open a whole new door of lore possibilities in this show. Love him.
1) (Steven Universe) Connie Connie Connie Connie Connie- Connie, my LOVE- I feel like by the end of the show she's grown into more of a main character than just a side, but that shows perhaps just HOW much wonderful development she gets throughout her journey. She grew from a timid young girl unsure of herself and her place in the world around her, to a fierce teen who has purpose, ambitions, and has a whole constellation of connections and confidants ready to cheer her on. I'm really proud of her <3
Every single time she showed up on screen for a new episode I got like, indescribably happy and went "damn this is going to be a good one," and basically every single SU reactor I've seen has had the same experience, so I think that alone shows how beloved Connie is, and how well written a character she is too. It's always great to have such a grounded presence amidst characters living in a world of fantasy.
