Okay, I’ve seen a certain head canon/meme/joke involving Homura floating around every now and again. And…well, being me, I feel it’s only fair to share one of mine: (cw: merinthophobia)

Homura has merinthophobia. SEVERE merinthophobia. She hates being tied up. She hates it A LOT. Even the very idea of being bound TERRIFIES her. When you consider what happens in the series when Mami ties her up, I cannot imagine she would EVER overcome it. It can be read as an extension of her overall fear of losing control of herself, another head canon of mine. It’s something she’s probably always had, but her trauma makes it WORSE.

Cuddling’s fine when she’s not held too tightly and when she trusts and loves the person. But when she’s on those terms, it would show just how much she trusts someone. To be sure, in such a situation, I imagine she’s a total cuddle bug who’ll absolutely melt into Madoka’s loving embrace. But then, Madoka would accommodate her so she feels comfortable.

I had red many fics with angst topic and phobias. Although I think assign characters with mental problems is not the best way to express your appreciation to characters and the show, but it does be interesting. So, I decided to challenge myself to list phobias for our 9Digi-Protagonists. Remember, this is just headcanon, canon divergence, etc. and is not the official interpretation of characters. This is assigned by one without trained medical knowledge, and better considered as fics inspiration. Although I think this is more like the list of things make them upset/annoyed than fear.

I'm currently struggling to find my "ruin severely traumatizes blood moon to the point they cling onto everyone" confession (yes, i be editor L&E au maker) but i have some fun facts on that au.

blood moon clings onto sun & New moon/nexus the most.

the twins were, for a short time, in dark sun's universe (ran away trying to find nexus)

They’re terrified of old moon

ruin killed kc himself (a "necessary death" in his words)

this au was inspired by H-didanart's QTIPO au, mainly in the ruin traumatizing blood moon Department. (both bastards went about it in different ways)

after nexus’s death, the twins just curled up under sun's bed & cried

when lunar got ostracized from the family, the twins just hid from everyone. they were scared they’d be kicked out of the family

the twins have a comfort plushies for when things get stressful

blood moon ends up developing claustrophobia, Merinthophobia, & Nyctophobia because of ruin.

the twins managed to find kc's van & stay in there while hiding

Avocados. I freaking love avocados. I can't always afford them because I'm a broke college student but when I can it's amazing. I would eat an avocado like an apple with only a little salt sprinkled on it

Absolutely. I have a tattoo and it's a pair of wings made of roses on my back. That's the only one I have currently, but it's pretty big lol

Story Idea #1

I'm going to have so many of these, so might as well give them a title—

Song Inspiration: RED HOUR by tart

Word Inspiration: The fear of chains, but catenophobia doesn't bring any results, so— Merinthophobia (the fear of being tied or bound)

Joe just appeared on the server and nobody really... questioned it. Like, when it happened, everyone knew vaguely that they should, but they were honestly really helpful and the aimless bumbling around was kinda endearing, so they just... didn't. GenerikB didn't because he honestly couldn't care less as long as Joe wasn't destroying the server, and by the time Xisuma became the admin, it felt a bit like betrayal to go snooping after their season together. Maybe Xisuma just didn't want to know what he'd find. Maybe it was fear just the same as trust.

The specifics don't matter. Joe appeared, helping and stumbling, and they stayed, and just when you forgot how strange they are, they would stumble into reminding you. Perhaps it was a fun game, an inside game, to bet on what Joe was because, with how odd they were, certainly they couldn't be human? Obviously, it wasn't their business, but Joe never put down their foot, so people poked and prodded and teased and noted, noted the eccentricities.

When Xisuma first asked Joe about their family, he was expecting indulgence or deflection. He did not expect the small hesitation, the sincerity in asking what family was. He kept quiet when Joe asked after dogs and swords.

When Keralis let Joe borrow some blocks, he didn't expect to come home to Joe staring up at the dozens of chains holding lanterns, lying on the floor of his base.

When Cleo ended up wheedling Joe out of that outfit of theirs for the bit, they didn't expect the rows upon rows of scars hidden underneath.

When False and Wels caught Joe watching in on their sparring, maybe they should've expected the bloodlust that came from them afterwards. There's only so many reasons to look at sparring like that, after all.

When Impulse found a wither skeleton chained to the stronghold, he made a joke. He didn't expect Joe to not only not joke back, but tug him away. He didn't ask when he noticed the small tremors.

The little things Joe asks— TFC teaching Joe about mining, Stress teaching Joe how to bake, Scar coaching Joe on how to be gentle with animals —and the little things Joe doesn't— the smile that never fades, the deliberate misinterpretation of words, the sheer amount of words, the automatic response to entertain, entertain, entertain—

It's cute when talking about shops. It's concerning when Joe stops at nothing in Demise to keep moving and joking.

But life goes on.

And then someone appears on the server, claiming to have left their weapon around here somewhere and they'll be just a moment, they promise—

The weapon is Joe.

Or Beetlejhost, shackled and raised to be the perfect entertainment.

A gladiator.

(And perhaps the tapes of Joe's conditioning were kept with them. The best way to keep a weapon safe is to keep the instructions on how to mend it with it, of course.)

I'm too cool for fears! and if I do have any, they're perfectly justified! for example: Shuppets. what's their deal? why do they exist? why do they stare at you like that? the things feed on people. how is that not freaky as fuck?? at least they let ya know who's feelin' particularly negative

He wants to be able to move freely, and if he were stuck, for example, in a car wreck, the feeling of being trapped itself would feel a lot worse to him than the crash. If someone tied him up he would be terrified. If he couldn't move an arm, also terrified.

In our world this is classified as Merinthophobia or Cleithrophobia. As such, I hope he never ends up trapped in an elevator. :)

Rocket’s phobias

I headcanon Rocket has 3 major phobias 

(I am aware of the aquaphobia in the game too, but while my muse doesn’t love being wet by any account and would probably make a similar fuss, it isn’t a trigger and he can enjoy a bath or shower on it’s own as long as he can be under a dryer after )

1.  Cleithrophobia - The mildest of his three, Rocket doesn’t like to be in small confined spaces, particularly for long periods. This could cause him of having anxiety in crowds, small spaces such as subways, vents, narrow caves, cars, or cages.  The longer he is in the situation the worse it gets.  

2.  Merinthophobia -  The fear of having his body restricted.  This would have to be something more than basic handcuffs or being tied to a chair for a short amount of time, but something where he actually cannot move.

3.  Tomophobia - The most severe issue he suffers from is the fear or anxiety caused by forthcoming surgical procedures and/or medical interventions.  Something this will relate to is that he will literally shut down if he is put in a situation where someone else is operating on him, causing him to pass out.  He would go as far to avoid any type of clinic even if he needs something minor like medicine for a cold.  If he had a toothache, he’d be more likely to yank it out himself before he’d go to a professional

Zoey and Elvira have both been subjected to having people make references associated with something about them (Zoey's last name caused someone to bring up Death Note one time and Elvira's appearance has led to her being compared to Saber multiple times)

Angelle would heavily relate to the song "Pretend My Pain Away" by Citizen Soldier

if Angelle was able to return to the surface at any point, she would not want to reunite with her parents, only her siblings

Abigail has cleithrophobia (fear of being trapped) and merinthophobia (fear of being restrained) because of her experiences with the Eternal Mines

Aisha does have things she draws the line at

Aisha only calms down and becomes more reasonable when she's in situations where she knows she doesn't have a lot of control

Aisha would feel empathetic towards orphans because she was an orphan herself until she was taken in by pirates

Aura has an older sister, Clarissa, who thinks she's insane for having left Skyhall (but still cares about her)

Alice has an eye scar that came from a street fight (which led to her learning that she's a Gracefallen and subsequently joining the Fallen Angels)

Yumeko is constantly wary because her father keeps sending people to find her due to her having refused to join the yakuza he's part of (which led her to become pretty isolated out of fear as well as get a concealed-carry license and start carrying things like pepper spray when she has to go out)

Yumeko was born in Kyoto and later moved to the Zaibatsu area in Tokyo

Kara knows Yumeko's father and has bad blood with him due to personal involvement in conflicts between the yakuza she belongs to and the yakuza he's in

Kara is a frequenter at the Kendo Fight Club and has a stage name there: "Sapphire Oni"

Juniper is an immigrant and came to Zaibatsu from Louisville, Kentucky to look for new black marketing opportunities

Juniper usually doesn't care who anyone she does deals with is connected to and will provide them with illegal augmentations so long as they can pay, but has some clients she's blacklisted for various reasons
