transphobic detransitioners (read: transphobic) will say the craziest anecdotal things such as "testosterone will drive you insane and break your brain because you'll start (describes common mental effects of puberty hormones)" like damn that's crazy. did you know testosterone is a hormone? do you know what hormones do? no?

I think it very much depends on the person and how they age.
Some people are geriatric at 65, or die basically of old age at 60, so defining middle aged as 40+ doesn't make sense for everyone...
I look about the same as I did as a teen at 36. If I wasn't so disabled in various specific ways, I would be the picture of health and youthful virility. Even as disabled as I am I would be hard pressed to consider myself middle aged, I don't even look like I am out of my 20's.
I think middle aged should be somewhat defined by biological markers of decline, and somewhat defined by lifestyle. "middle aged" should be able to communicate useful information as a descriptor, so whatever that communicates to people should likely be some prerequisite to labeling someone that way.
Help Aggravate a Debate
I know tumblr polls won't solve a debate but they do bring fun new perspectives to argue, so for the sake of Argument:

Healthy aging: Overcoming the side effects of Menopause with Multivitamins for women over 40
Healthy aging: Overcoming the side effects of Menopause with Multivitamins for women over 40
Introduction:
Menopause is a significant milestone in a woman's life, marking the end of her reproductive years. However, this transition often comes with a myriad of challenges, including physical symptoms, emotional changes, and hormonal imbalances. In this blog, we'll explore the side effects of menopause and how women can overcome them with the help of women's vitamins. We'll also discuss the importance of women health during this transformative period and highlight the best vitamin supplements for women to support healthy aging and boost stamina.
Understanding Menopause:
Menopause is a natural biological process that occurs when a woman's ovaries stop producing eggs and her menstrual cycle ceases. This hormonal shift leads to a decrease in estrogen and progesterone levels, which can result in a range of side effects of menopause, including hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and fatigue. These symptoms can have a significant impact on a woman's physical and emotional well-being, making it essential to address them proactively.
Challenges Faced by Women:
During menopause, many women experience a sense of loss and uncertainty as they navigate this new phase of life. The physical symptoms of menopause can be uncomfortable and disruptive, while the emotional changes can leave women feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable. Additionally, hormonal imbalances can contribute to mood swings, anxiety, and depression, further exacerbating the challenges of this transition.
Overcoming the Low Feeling:
While it can be a challenging time, there are steps women can take to manage the side effects of menopause and embrace this new chapter of life with confidence and grace. One essential aspect during menopause is ensuring adequate nutrition and supplementation. Women's vitamins for hormonal imbalance play a crucial role in supporting overall well-being and mitigating the side effects of menopause. By incorporating the best vitamin supplements for women into their daily routine, women can boost stamina, promote healthy aging, and alleviate symptoms such as fatigue and mood swings.
The Role of Multivitamins:
Multivitamins for women over 40 are specially formulated to meet the unique nutritional needs of women during menopause and beyond. These supplements contain a comprehensive blend of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support hormonal balance, bone health, cardiovascular function, and cognitive function. By taking women's vitamins for hormonal imbalance, women can optimize their health and well-being during this transformative period.
Conclusion:
Menopause is a natural and inevitable part of every woman's life journey. While it may come with its challenges, it's essential to approach this transition with a sense of resilience and optimism. By prioritizing their health and incorporating the best vitamin supplements for women into their daily routine, women can navigate menopause with grace and confidence. Remember, menopause is not the end of youth but the beginning of wisdom and empowerment. Embrace this new chapter of life with open arms and remember that you are not alone on this journey.

#211 Neuron fail.
My brain is fried. Not entirely... but the chemo brain weirdness never properly went away. And just when I thought my brain cells might be getting their act together, the Tamoxifen knocked them on their arses again.
I'm not badly brain fucked. I just... don't have a working Mental To-Do-List like I should and like I used to. I've been told this is a bit like ADHD, but since I don't have ADHD I can't vouch for the accuracy of that. Idk.
Unless there's a reminder for me to do a task, or it's staring me in the face, then I totally fucking skip it. Until I see it again. Then I remember, put it on the top of my To-Do List to deal with as soon as I've finished my current task... and promptly fucking forget again. It's maddening.

This is such a jacked-up thing, though. STIs can be a real problem in retirement communities and nursing homes because The Olds are like "No pregnancy risk means we can rawdog it! :D" and everyone who's like "Okay, we need some some sex ed and free condoms up in here." gets aggressively shouted down by people who'd rather clutch their pearls about old people banging than make sure they have the tools to be safe about it.
why do young people act so shocked about elderly people having sex. why does this shock you.

look, the most fundamental concept to misogyny is that the female sex is inherently inferior to the male sex. as cheapened and mocked as the term "patriarchy" has become, it literally refers to the system of assumed male supremacy which has perpetuated a social and political adherence to the myth of female inferiority.
"women are too irrational to be in positions of leadership; what if she gets her period or goes through menopause? women's bodies are dictated by unstable flux and a biological clock. their physical weakness predisposes them to domestic tasks and their ability to bear children means that's one of the few things the inferior female body is good for, just like their ability to be penetrated for male pleasure and reproduction means that's their primary function."
female socialisation, as complex and interculturally-diverse a concept as it is, at its core means the reality of growing and learning your behaviour from this ambient background that presumes your own inferiority. you learn (often without even realising) to act in accordance with this artificial sexist role, viewing yourself in pieces and parts according to their usefulness as resources to men, second-guessing your own capacity for anything socially deemed 'male' and minimising yourself accordingly. The host of behaviours this yields in women differs between cultures and times, but commonly includes forms of ornamentation, passivity, and servitude; these are then attributed to some innate female nature, piled on as further proof of our inherent inferiority.
perceptions of the female body are utterly central to misogyny and the feminist efforts to liberate us from it. pretending that the female body is irrelevant to misogyny or worse, that these learned, socialised behavioural patterns are innate to some naturally-inborn 'female brain' – will never be an effective approach to fighting sexism and will actively hinder female class consciousness.

testosterone is not more potent or powerful or risky than estrogen is, I'm tired of other trans people spreading this narrative that SO MANY effects of testosterone are permanent and they'll happen so quick and can never be undone!!! oh no!!!!!
some effects are permanent yeah but most likely it's just going to be emphasizing traits you already have, especially if you start on a low dose. on .1 or .2 ml of testosterone a week you'll see slow and gradual changes. if you're a hairy person already, your body hair will get a little thicker. bottom growth can be surprising but you're not going to grow a penis, your clitoris will be bigger. your voice will get gradually deeper but it will still sound like your voice. you're not going to become a different person overnight.
if you think about the effects that estrogen has on trans women, you can expect that those effects are the ones that are NOT permanent on testosterone. trans women usually experience their body hair becoming less thick and more sparse, their fat redistributes, their faces soften and become more feminine. estrogen doesn't change your voice, facial hair becomes thinner but may not go away entirely. that's generally what you can expect if you go off testosterone and allow the estrogen that your body produces to be the dominant hormone in your endocrine system again. and these changes happen to most cis woman regardless during menopause! it's not scary, you just need to be in tune with your body and monitor the changes that you want, just like any medication.
