when they go out drinking, luke knows when mel is done for the night and it’s time for her to go bed. it’s usually when she gets clingy and tired.
mel walks over to luke and stumbles into his arms, “hi lukey.”
“hi sweetheart. how are you feeling?”
“i’m tired.” mel says against his chest. he rubs her back and says, “time to go home baby.”
“ok.” she mumbles.
he holds her tight and leads her to the car. he’s been sober for a while knowing he was gonna have to drive her home. he takes her back to the house and brings her to their room.
he gets her on the counter in the bathroom and takes her makeup off. she’s trying to stay awake but keep leaning her head against luke. he says, “baby, i need you to keep you head for two minutes ok?”
she nods and picks her head up. he gets her makeup off in a minute and as she gets down, she gets a wave of nausea. she covers her mouth and bends over the toilet to empty her stomach. luke sits behind her and holds her hair while her back. he says softly, “there you go baby. just let it all out. you’re ok.”
a few minutes later, she finished throwing up. he says, “better?”
“yea. bed now?” she mumbles.
“bed now.” he helps her up and into their room. he gets her changed in his shirt and then into bed. he grabs a water and climbs in with her. he pulls her into him and she says, “thank you for taking care me while drunk.”
“always sweetheart. get some rest.”
“ok, i love you.” she says and drifts off. he smiles and kisses her head, “i love you too. and i’m gonna marry you someday, i promise.”
he mumbles that last part as he falls asleep. he’s been looking at rings for a few weeks knowing he wanted to do it soon.

Unfrosted (dir. Jerry Seinfeld).
Netflix's wildly surreal business parody of the revolutionary invention of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries amidst the bitter Kellog's vs. Post Cereals rivalry in 1963 Battle Creek, Michigan is among the silliest period comedies with an all-star cast ever conceived. The whole thing feels like a stretched-out comedy sketch with top-notch production design aimed at mid-century boomer nostalgia for Cold War tensions culminating in the technological advancement from the space race but with breakfast snacks instead.

mel having a terrible week and just needing cuddles with luke
mel knocks on the door to the sophomore house and then just walks in. she knows the boys keep it unlocked. she also knows that Luke is home because all of their cars are in the driveway. she yells out, "Luke? where are you?"
"duker's room." he yells back.
she heads up into dylan's room and instantly hugs Luke. he asks, "woah, you ok sweetheart?"
"no. shitty week, need sex or kisses or cuddles. just you." she mumbles into his chest. he tightens his grip on mel and kisses her head. he says, "let's go watch something on netflix."
she nods and they start walking towards luke's room. you can hear Dylan making the sound of a whip at Luke to which he claps back, "at least I have a girlfriend asshole. leave me alone."
mel rolls her eyes but pulls Luke into bed and curls into him. he asks softly, "do you wanna talk about it?"
"not in the slightest. just hold me please." mel says. Luke smiles and pulls her tight into him, "your wish is my command. I love you."
"I love you too.

Unfrosted    [trailer]
In 1963 Michigan, business rivals Kellogg's and Post compete to create a cake that could change breakfast forever.
It feels like Seinfeld and his co-writers wrote a large amount of jokes and puns and then tried to built a story around it.
It helps that the movie is fast-paced and the story is pleasantly silly. And some scenes (the funeral!) and characters (Mad Men cameos) are quite funny. I very much liked Hugh Grant.
Though it's unfortunate that Seinfeld also stars since he can't really act.
The diabetic coma inducing product placement gets balanced with the repeated mocking of the industry. So overall, an entertaining diversion that's easily forgotten once the sugar rush recedes.

Unfrosted (2024) review
Tumblr media
This film gave me Movie 43 vibes. Believe me that is not a good comparison to have.
Plot: Michigan, 1963. Kellogg's and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever. A tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar, and menacing milkmen.
Hollywood has recently been really into telling backstories of famous commercial products, from BlackBerry’s to the legal battle behind the Tetris game, to Air Jordans. That’s right, we had a movie about Nike shoes - actually wasn’t a bad movie but seems strange thinking I spent two hours of my life learning about a shoe creation. Arguably the best of these recent product movies was The Founder, that told the story of McDonalds and how it was bastardized by Ray Crock (played by an energetic Michael Keaton), who transformed it into the soulless conglomerate it is today. I wouldn't call it a glowing endorsement of the modern day restaurant, but it really made for a solid and engaging cinematic narrative. Now cometh Netflix’s Unfrosted, a tale of how the popular Pop-Tart snack came to be, however here’s the catch - it’s made by Jerry Seinfeld.
As such, rather than being a cohesive unravelling of real life events, this primarily is a comedy. So much so that the story itself is so thin, and instead Seinfeld takes us from one skit to the other in hopes of getting a chuckle or two. Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat it, this movie ain’t worth eating for breakfast. It feels like a bunch of poor Saturday Night Live jokes thrown together, with 90% of it being unfunny. It’s a shame really as everyone involved seems to be having a wonderful time, but it doesn’t translate well as a whole package.
The one moment I actually got a kick out of was the Mad Men reunion. It was a totally unexpected cameo, and though I found it amusing, I’m very aware it’s going to piss of die-hard fans of the show, who may accuse this to be a cheap nostalgia gimmick that disrespects the show’s legacy. But honestly, I’ve seen a couple of seasons of Mad Men myself, and though it’s a very well written piece of TV drama, Jon Hamm’s character is not so sacred that it can’t be used in comedy. And yes his and John Slattery’s appearance in Unfrosted was absolutely out of left-field, but this random surprise really got me. It was silly yet at the same time utterly delightful.
What’s really crazy is how many famous faces agreed to be in this movie. A lot of the comedians have walked in straight from SNL, so their presence makes sense, and Melissa McCarthy, well, it’s Melissa McCarthy. Sort of expect this from her by now. However there are some genuinely talented people here from the likes of Christian Slater to Dean Norris to Hugh Grant, which makes you wonder what Seinfeld had on them to get them to agree to be in this. Must say though I did get slight entertainment from noticing every time another famous face showed up.
Overall Unfrosted is a mess. There’s high Cat in the Hat level colourful energy to its stupidity, with so much randomness thrown at you, but in no way is this a good movie. Can hardly even call it a movie to be honest. Then again after experiencing Jerry Seinfeld’s beestiality in Bee Movie don’t really know what else I expected.
Overall score: 2/10

JACK HUGHES - Unresistable (series) *(JACK HUGHES ISN'T A HOCKEY PLAYER)* PRINCESS Melissa always dreamed of getting married to another prince and keeping the royalty of blood in her future children. When her mother Queen Diana arranged a marriage with another kingdom prince, she couldn’t have been happier, that was until she fell in love with her Guard. She knows it’s against policy and that he could get fired, but how could she resist the smoking hot Guard that watches over her? JACK was a ‘peasant’ barely living by the passing day that was until he was hired by King James. He was loyal to his position as Guard, especially to the Policy. It was easy, especially rule one that was. ‘1. Guards should not fall in love with members of the royal family’ It was easy at first, but when the King told him he would be the Princess’s Guard since the last one got fired. It changed everything. As the days passed Jack became more and more fantasized about the Princess. Jack knew he wasn’t supposed to engage in any inappropriate behavior with her, so he didn’t. He became colder and more focused on his job only responding to the princess in a respectful manner. That was until she became unresistable.
