Gome U7 Specs, Video Review and Price

Gome U7 has been introduced by the company after being announced a couple of months ago. The device sports the trending 18:9 bezel-less full screen display and equipped with dual selfie cameras. Lets meet the device.

Design

The device looks absolutely stunning, it was made from Metal and available in Black and Blue colors. There's a rear camera at the top middle with a LED flash and fingerprint scanner. It's quite slim, measuring 7.5mm in thickness and weighs 164g overall.

Display

It's built around a bezel-less 5.99-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 18:9 aspect ratio that stretches all the way to the sides. This has a screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels along with a 269 pixel per inch density. It also stretches up to 76.49% screen-to-body ratio, which is great.

Software and Hardware

The stunning device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Gome OS 2.0 on top. Under the hood, it's powered by the MediaTek Helio P25 (MT6757CD) chip with 8-cores of processor, this reaches a clocking speed of up to 2.5GHz. The ARM Mali-T880 MP2 controls graphics with 8-cores and clocks 500MHz. For storing files, the device packs 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using a memory card. It also has 2GB of RAM for multitasking through apps.

Camera

It's equipped with a single 13MP rear camera for photography and accompanied by a LED flash. While the front-facing cameras are dual 13MP +2MP selfie shooters for portrait mode selfies.

Battery

The device is powered by a 3100mAh battery capacity with fast charging. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2 hours.

Rumors about the Redmi Note 5 suggest that the smartphone will come with an 18:9 full-screen display and a dual-camera setup. Now, a fresh set of leaks reveal some more details about the upcoming smartphones in Redmi-series.

According to famous tipster Roland Quandt, Redmi 5-series will have three smartphones – the Redmi 5, the Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 Plus. The new line-up pretty much remains similar to this year, except the ‘Plus’ variant. While there is no information on the Plus variant as yet, considering it is named ‘Plus’ we can expect either a bigger battery, bigger display, more storage, and RAM.

From my personal impression, build quality, design, and appearance all looked very impressive. MAZE Alpha body is composed of a solid metal frame with a glossy black plastic cover that can easily get fingerprint marks when holding it, but its something you can avoid if you buy a protective case. That said, If we would compare the MAZE Alpha external looks vs Doogee Mix device, externally they look very similar with the front camera located on the right corner, and also the location of the LED flash and shape of the housing of the rear camera that looks pretty much the same on both devices. The main difference is the size of the device, weight and the MAZE Alpha big 6-inch display.

MAZE Alpha USB Type-C Interface (Plug Compatibility Issues )

The USB Type-C™ cable plug provided inside MAZE package was not the correct one. It didn’t hook up to the phone port and was free, therefore couldn’t charge the phone. The reason I wanted to point this matter out is that I didn’t see any tech reviews discussing this problem. To avoid confusion, both MAZE Alpha and also Bluboo S1 Phones are using a USB Type C ver 3.1 Gen 1 Plug, and not the commonly used USB Type C 3.0 plug. If you are asking what is the difference between both connectors?. the lengths are not similar and the v3.0 connector is larger in size.

This leads to few compatibility issues. If you have plans on buying the MAZE Alpha you need to the into account you will need to buy few extra cables as a backup. especial if you are going to use it with power bank or a portable charger. Although we are not talking about a defect or a flaw in the design. Perhaps this type of plus was selected because it is capable of achieving high current and voltage with minimal power loss as main consideration. Nevertheless, It’s not clear why MAZE decided to select this type of USB Type C interface for their phones when the standard Type-C 3.0 is still very commonly used worldwide.

Hardware

Powered by MediaTek Helio P25 SoC, The MAZE Alpha phone is powered by an MT6757 Octa-Core processor (8 core) running at frequencies between 247MHz- 2.5 GHz. Similar to the previously Bluboo S1 and Doogee Mix devices. From my personal impression, the phone performed well with a relative high AnTuTu score of 61084. The additional 4GB RAM with combining with the Helio P25 SoC contributes to a more smoother user experience running applications as well as high graphic games under Android 7.0 OS.

MAZE Alpha comes with an excellent 6.0 inch 1920 x 1080 sharp and bright display. As a user planning on watching movies on this big screen device, I had no issues about its quality.

Speaker – Produced average, but very decent sound.

Microphone – Performance was pretty average as in most Chinese phones.

Cameras – After updating the latest ROM via Wireless Update (OTA) launched on 17/10/017 the general quality of the photos produced by the main camera and the front selfie camera looked decent or very average. In low light conditions, the photos came out very grainy and blurred.

According to my test, the MAZE Alpha 4000 mAh Lithium-ion Polymer battery provides approximately 7 hr:20 min of “light” usage performing basic tasks, such as playing few youtube videos, Browsing, using IM Applications. It’s not the best battery selection in the world for a device equipped with a 6-inch display, but considering the phone price, it’s a very reasonable pick that should be enough power for a half a day of normal usage on a single charge. beyond it, you will need to use a power bank or just charge it again.

After fully discharging (draining) the 4000 mAh battery it took 02:07 min to charge it. A very reasonable result based on my previous tests checking other Chinese phone brands, equipped with a smaller 3000 mAh battery that was also charged in ~1:40 Min.

The Maze Alpha is a good phablet with an excellent 6-inch display. experience playing with the phone was excellent, and overall its a great pick for users that like to use their phones for gaming and watching movies. The Gionee S10 was launched in three variants in China

Chinese handset manufacturer Gionee will be launching its S10 smartphone with four cameras in India soon. Talking to Gadgets 360, a Gionee executive confirmed the news at MWC Shanghai, and added that the Gionee S10 will launch as the next A-series flagship in the country. The executive, however, couldn't confirm the launch timeline for the Gionee S10 saying that the company is yet to finalise launch.

Another Gionee executive talking to us added that the company initially had plans to launch the Gionee S10 in India in next two months but this may change depending on the performance of the current A-series smartphone, the Gionee A1.

To recall, Chinese company unveiled the Virat Kohli Signature Edition of the Gionee A1 earlier this month.

For those unaware, Gionee launched its S10 smartphone in China back in May and it went on sale in the company's homeland earlier this month. The smartphone was launched in three variants - regular S10, S10B, and S10C. The executives couldn't confirm at this moment which of the three variants will eventually make it to India.

One of the biggest highlight features of the Gionee S10 is it sports four cameras - two at the back, and two at the front. The smartphone features a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor at the rear with 6P lens and f/1.8 aperture. At the front, it comes with a 20-megapixel sensor along with an 8-megapixel sensor. In China, the Gionee S10 was launched at CNY 2,599 (roughly Rs. 24,400).

Other specifications of the smartphone include a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) In-Cell display, and it is powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. It comes 64GB of inbuilt storage, and packs a 3450mAh battery. The Gionee S10 runs Amigo 4.0 OS.

Coming to the other two S10 variants, the Gionee S10B was launched at CNY 2,199 (roughly Rs. 20,700) while the Gionee S10C was priced at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 15,000).

The Gionee S10B sports a dual camera setup with a 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors at the back while there's just regular one camera at the front, a 16-megapixel sensor in this case.

The S10B also runs on Amigo 4.0, features a 5.5-inch full-HD display, and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The Gionee S10B comes with 64GB of in-built storage. The smartphone houses a large 3700mAh battery.

The Gionee S10C is the cheapest among three and sports a single 16-megapixel sensor at the back as well as a 13-megapixel sensor at the front.

Just like the other two phones, the Gionee S10C runs Amigo 4.0 OS but sports a 5.2-inch HD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 427 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB of built-in storage and houses a 3100mAh battery.
