I managed to do about 5 hrs of study this weekend including an essay.

I’m struggling with my doubts about getting into med and am really getting enticed by UX/product design again despite the glaringly obvious terrible tech job market right now - Someone take my brain away from me. Is it ok to do both? LOL

MOONLESS NIGHT INCREASE COOKIECUTTER SHARK BITES

Cookiecutter sharks are well known for feeding on large animals, and leaving a cookie-cutter-shaped wound, hence that comically name. These are small and dark sharks, typically found in deep tropical and subtropical waters. Despite their small size, these sharks can pose a significant threat, although rarely. Of the seven reported cookiecutter shark attacks on humans worldwide, six occurred in Hawaiʻi. A new research connect the interactions between cookiecutter sharks (Isistius brasiliensis) and humans, particularly among channel swimmers in Hawaiʻi. The study showed how environmental conditions such are moonless night can increase the likelihood of these attacks.

The nocturnal feeding behavior and zoogeographical habitat of cookiecutter sharks greatly reduces interaction of this species with live humans. made a study den and had the most productive day of my life. I never thought it was humanly possible for me to study this much in one day.

Watching my fav drama for an hour at 2:00 am after studying the whole day felt like the best and the sweetest reward ever!! 🥂🥂

I feel so motivated after such a good day to make today amazing too! 💕

qPCR and extraction of DNA

This morning I had the opportunity to practice DNA extraction from a blood sample from a South hospital. It was a rather nice experience since I wasn't anxious at all, I had overcome my fear of micropipette.

despite the pressures I feel sometimes, med school has been really fun and I’ve met some people that I really love spending time with. also long distance with my boyfriend is going really well ¨̮ it’s really nice that we can chat and support each other. he gives me such good advice about handling graduate school since he’s 2.5 years in. it’s also cool that sometimes the things we’re learning overlap, like tonight he called me so I could review congenital heart defects (which I have an exam on tomorrow) which he used to help write his topic presentation ♡

all in all I’m finding it more and more important to step back and see the bigger picture. the stress I feel is acute and will pass, and it’s healthier to recognize it and let it go (rather than hold it and let it consume me)
