Maya and The Three: a general analysis

Today, I bingewatched Maya and The Three (will be shortened to Mat3 from now on), from episode 1 to 9, generally because of a good friend of mine, @rainbowcutie1789 . If not for her, than I'd probably would not even know anything about the show. And by the way, this was a part of a game of Truth or Dare that I played with her (I dared myself and her that we'd watch our favorite shows. She watches my favorite, I watch her favorite), She's watching Ren & Stimpy, by the way (she likes it quite a bit)

This post has (spoilers) for the show, but Let's start!

Plot

Mat3 is a linear show consisting of 9 episodes, and its plot is Maya going on an adventure with the three warriors (Rico - The Rooster, Chimi - The Skull and Picchu - The Puma) as a part of the true Prophesy (hence why the main group are at times called "The Prophecy Friends") to defeat Lord Mictlan (the main antagonist of the show). The show will probably take around ~4:30-5 hours for ya.

Characters

Maya - the poster girl of the series*

*a poster girl (out of "poster boy") is when a character (usually the main character, female in this case) becomes the character that the show is generally associated with and appears as the main focus in promotional material such as, well, posters.

Maya is one of the main characters of the show and (as I said) the poster girl of the series. She's half-human, half-god (so a demigod), being the biological daughter of Lady Micte, the goddess of death and King Teca (guess who he is). She's raised by King Teca and Queen Teca (her stepmother). It's basically confirmed in the show that she falls in love with Zatz, one of her former enemies, former emissiary of Lord Mictlan and the son of Camazotz.

In a nutshell, Maya's generally a brave, adventurous girl.

Great MC and poster girl, 9/10

Zatz - The Prince of Bats, poster boy of the series?

Zatz is the prince of bats, being sort of the poster boy of the series, but mostly because of his handsome design, with a generally glorious, but Gothic-like appearance, as he derives from The Underworld (hell?). As I said, he's Maya's romantic partner, that's why I put him right next to Maya in this post.

Can't say much about the guy, but he's a chill dude, 9/10

Rico - The Rooster (hehe he's like Rico from Brawl Stars)

Rico's generally my favorite character in this show because of his personality. He's just a silly talkative guy! He's a magician and he can use two types, one from his apparently sentient staff Estefan (hehe, get it?) and his more powerful and dangerous type, peasant magic. He's generally a really expressive character for me, that's why he's my favorite.

He was cowardly at first, as we learn from his backstory that

(SPOILER ALERT) when he was at his (likely first) magic talent show, he made fun at by other people when he tried to do magic and he used his Peasant magic, in turn destroying the Luna Auditorium as a whole.

He did start to embrace his magic and used his peasant magic and eventually Estefan.

I love him! Such a silly little guy! 10/10 character.

Chimi - The Skull

Chimi comes from the jungle and was raised there, as she was feared by her people for being albino (and thus, having a very pale look) (being called "Monstruo Blanco" (White Monster))

She's grown to be an excellent archer and somehow speaks perfect English, despite being raised in the jungle?

She paints her face like a skull, likely for her deceased mother, hence why Picchu calls her "Bones girl".

Cool ass character, 10/10

Picchu - The Puma (hehe, his name is like Pichu the Pokemon)

Picchu is the barbarian of the main group. Mercy is his motivation, as he thinks that it's something that he wouldn't give, but it's who he was. He also doesn't really have that much knowledge in English, so he messes up with the language quite a bit.

A Barbaric, but kind guy, 9/10

Lord Mictlan - The Main Antagonist of the show

Lord Mictlan has a badass design and I absolutely LOVE how he can just split his face in half at times. He is the main antagonist though.

10/10 design, 9/10 character.

Here, I'll mention some side characters of the show

Grand Bruja - I'm only mentioning her because she has a goofy design, with her using her nose for battle once.

Grand Brujo (not to be confused with his daughter, Grand Bruja) - also has a goofy design

Ah Puch - there are three of Ah Puch, I love that.

Camazotz (Zatz' father), Vucub - They have badass designs.

Zyanya - Camazotz' wife and Zatz' mother. She has a funny name. (Not meaning to offend her)

Now, the qualities

The Qualities

The animation and visuals are absolutely amazing! There are moments in the show where the characters just pop out of the movie format and get to the borders of the 16:9 format, mostly in action scenes.

Speaking of the action scenes, they are SICK. I love them.

The animation in general is expressive and smooth, always what I like about something!

The character designs are great all around, from beautiful, to badass, to goofy. The visuals are basically movie-standard!

The voice acting is great! Not much to say more about it.

The show itself

The first 8 episodes are great, with episode 1 introducing us to the Teca and Maya herself, episodes ~2-6 introduces us to the Prophecy friends, as she's figured out, again, the true prophecy after (spoiler alert) she sees symbols on her brothers' graves, them being Rooster, Skull and Puma.

The ninth episode, The Sun and The Moon, however is the final one and is about the main group and their allies defeating Lord Mictlan. It's AMAZING, it's an episode that rivals with my favorite episode of Ren & Stimpy, "The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen". Both episodes hold special places in my heart, albeit, the Yaksmen episode has a more special place but Mat3's ninth episode is close.

General rating

It's a really great show that would take you only around ~4:30-5 hours long with amazing visuals and lovable characters!

10/10 series!

Rough idea for my Mat3 modern AU, Welcome to Destino Hills

Mayor Warren Michaels (typically refered to as Mayor Michaels or simply Michaels) (Lord Michlan in this AU) (the gods are different kinds of athority figures in this AU) finds out that that his wife, Superintendent Michelle Michaels (Lady Micte in this AU), had an affair with millionare Kingsley "King" Teca & had a child with him (Maya, naturally), and becomes enraged by the fact that Michelle would dare do such a thing (Michaels & Michelle's marriage was basically on life support, with Michaels prioritizing his job over his own wife, who basically helped him become a decent leader so he could become mayor of the tititular city of this AU, Destino Hills) (what happened to the main series kingdoms? I'll get to that in a bit). Because of this, Michaels decides to send out his inner circle (who are some of the most powerful people in the city), who so happened to be suprisingly good fighters, to do everything in their power to either kill Maya or bring her to him so he can do the deed himself. Queenie Teca (Queen Teca in this AU, obviously), who works as a lawyer, finds out about Michaels' plan, and makes sure her family's body guards are ready and on stand by for whenever somebody tries to attack Maya. However, one day, the family's body guards are all abducted, leaving Queenie & King with one option: hope that Maya can use her self defence skills to use and hope for the best.

With each instance of somebody trying to hunt down Maya, one of the members of the OG "three" is in the area & decide to take action (or in Rico's case, gets caught in the crossfire on accident and now has to fight alongside Maya because he tried to defend himself and Maya), with each member deciding to stick around after each encounter after hearing what was going on with Maya.

Okay, now time to explain wtf I'm going to do with the kingdoms and stuff before I explain how Zatz fits into all of this & discuss how this AU ends. Instead of the main series' kingdoms, Chimi, Rico, Pichu, and Maya are part of different school clubs/teams in their school, Chimi on the archery team, Rico in the art club, Pichu on the football team, and Maya is on the student cousel, floor hockey team, and wrestling team, which each club/team serving as a "kingdom" of sorts. Basically the normies who aren't the children of authority figures go to public schools & the children of authority figures (the younger gods & singular demigod in the OG series) go to highly selective/ private schools around the city.

Okay, back to buisness. Before or after each assasination attempt, Zach (this AU's Zatz, naturally), would so happen to show up and try to talk to Maya. Zach lives pretty close to Maya (like across the block) and has had a crush on her for as long as he could remember. Even though him and his father, Principal Cameron Murcielago (Camazotz in this AU) of Zach's high school, were sent out to kill Maya, they don't want to because A) that'd be downright illegal & they're sensible people and B) Zach likes Maya. However, Maya doesn't quite trust this son of an authority figure & finds him pretty creepy, so she doesn't buy into the fact he's actually trying to help until her final encounter with an assasin before Micheals decides to take the fight to the Teca family. After saving Maya and the others from certain death, Zach becomes part of the crew.

The AU ends with Michelle (who finally decided to up and leave Micheals), the Teca family, other members of Maya's high school's student body, and the prothecy crew fighting the remaining authority figures still on Micheals' side when Micheals decides to pull up to Maya's neighborhood to kill her himself. Towards the end of the fight, Zach gets knocked out cold & while trying to finish of Micheals, Maya's left arm gets severely damaged. After killing Micheals, the other authority figures stop fighting & Maya, bleeding from her arm, limps towards Zach, and then passes out herself. She then wakes up in a hospital, her left arm amuputated, being greeted by her family and friends. After a speedy recovery, Maya gets a new arm & gets the happy ending she deserves. The authority figures who fought alongside Micheals got punished & Michelle becomes the new mayor of Destino Hills. Maya and the crew then get to just hang out with each other and breathe easy now that nobody is out to get them and them specifically.

TL;DR: Local mayor goes fucking crazy and sends city workers out to kill some girl his wife and a millionare had together but falls to a bunch of teens and three adults.

I might make some adjustments to this since this is a rough idea for the AU, so some of this may or may not be subject to change. Also I got some art of the modern main 4 in the works rn (as promised).

Maya and the Three + Analog Horror

Hey guys! I have been thinking of a Maya and the three au. So I’ve been interested in analog horror, and thought if Maya and the three + analog horror would make a pretty good au.

So here’s my summary of the au. In the modern times, a newly wed couple (Maya and Zatz) are two archeologists, while having an expedition throughout South America, as well as their honeymoon 😁, but they hear rumors, that people have gone missing in the forests of Brazil, as well as in the mountains of Peru. There have also been rumors of vengeful spirits roaming around South America, looking for those who wronged them. These spirits are known as “The Three” (Rico, Chimi, and Picchu) and there is also a story, of 3 outcasts from Luna Island, Jungle Lands, as well as the Golden Mountains, who were forced to be sent to the god of war, Lord Mictlan, in order for the kingdoms to be saved. The Three died very brutal deaths, and because of Lord Mictlan, cursed to live as monstrous entities, for 500 years. The Three had hope, that the Teca army, but they came too late, and were slaughtered as well. There were gods who chose to escape because of Lord Mictlan’s insanity (Camazotz, Lady Micte, Vucub, Cipactli, and Cabrakan). The escaped Gods went away and started new lives in North America. The wife of Lord Mictlan, Lady Micte, started a family with a man and his wife, and they loved each other very much (King Teca and Queen Teca), and had 4 children. Two children are also expected from the family. Lady Micte then decides stop Mictlan, as well as free the spirits of the Three, but she sadly fails, along with Camazotz, who also left his family behind. Before going to South America to stop Lord Mictlan, Lady Micte makes a video message to Maya, one of her youngest children, that she’s sorry she had to leave her behind, because of a cause, as well as revealing that she’s the Goddess of Death. This leaves to a 27 yr old Maya, and her new husband, Zack (Zatz), while also having their expedition, as well as their honeymoon, to look for their missing parent, as well as free the Three

And now, for the Three!

Rico: Rico’s a very tragic soul, whose limbs can float, as well as his head. He tends to stay hidden from the people, who don’t know that he lives in this part of the area. But he also has company and basically journeys through South America with his friend, the Stone Giant (Picchu), while also trying to seek friendship from the Forest Spirit (Chimi). However, if angered, he will try to kill, with his magic. There is a 50% chance that you can survive Rico. But if you succeed in being friends with Rico, he will come with you, as well as have faith in you, to get the other two of the Three. He may look dangerous, but he’s just hurt, wanting to go home. He also disguises himself as a beggar when the sun arrives, always wearing a scarf, so people wouldn’t see that his head’s floating. Whenever he floats with his head, his hair also spreads, like Medusa. He also does Peasant Magic, which he mastered over the 500 years of his misery. He will try to help you go against the God of War too, as well as finding the other spirits. Rico always wanted to be lovingly embraced, if a mortal understands what he has been going through.

Chimi: Chimi’s a soul who has been deeply wronged, and is the one with the most vengeance. She has no lower body, her arms are stretched and sharp, so she can slice victims, but she also knows how to use her bow, often jumping and shooting. She has very sharp canines, clothes covered in mud and blood, her hair down and messy, her very tainted makeup, pitch black eyes, and also a very, very disturbing smile. She often talks to the Stone Giant, and also to the Sorcerer Spirit, sometimes, and often has a soft spot for them, that they are suffering the same fate as her too. If angered, Chimi will chase you on her arms (like the Japanese yo Kai, Teke Teke), and will slice the victim with her hands. Another alternate, she will try to shoot her bow at you, and once you’ve been impaled by one, she will pounce and attack you. There is a 30% chance you can survive against Chimi. If you do end up making friends with the spirit, always, I mean always, make sure that you’re not going to leave her behind, as well as betray her, so she wouldn’t get hurt and try to kill you again, but if you do, she will be very loyal to you, as your protector, while also being starved of physical affection.

Picchu: Picchu is a soul made of stone, who always roams around the Andes Mountains at night, and turning into a mountain when day comes. Picchu’s eyes are just two very deep holes, with jagged cracks below, and is always crying two water falls. He doesn’t talk, but can make sounds to show how he’s feeling. His hair is grass and vines, as well as a fruit tree on his head. He sometimes walks around the mountains, with his friend, the Sorcerer Spirit. Picchu isn’t really a spirit that kills people, but when angered, his body will have cracks, with lava inside, and well as his hair also turning into lava. His chest has a very huge hole that goes through his body. He and Rico are the most nicest spirits from the Three, but also likes spending time with his friends. There’s a 10% chance if you can survive against Picchu. If you become friends with Picchu, he’s really nice once you get to know him, and he’s also really sensitive, if you hurt his feelings. Picchu will try to give you a ride around the mountains, as well as the whole South America, if he doesn’t get caught. He too, has been starved of physical affection.

Maya and the three: A new Journey, chapter 1: The aftermath

So, this is how it ends. A part of Maya knew this was going to happen, but a part of her still hoped it wouldn't.

But if it meant saving her friends and family, so be it. With the last of her strength, she plunged Eagle Claw into Mictlan's heart. She saw white and then darkness. And then felt nothing.

Maya felt her heart break. It was so quiet. She didn't imagine death to be so quiet. It was lonely.

"Fret not, Maya." A familiar voice said, "It is not yet your time."

Ah Puch.

"W-What?" Maya asked, "I don't understand."

"With all you and your family have done, we believe it is only fair you get a chance at a life long-lived."

Maya remembered who was waiting for her in the afterlife. Her brothers, her mother, Picchu, Zatz, "But what about my family?"

"We will wait for you, Maya." Lance said. Maya teared up at the sound of her brother's voice.

"We will always be with you." Shield said.

"You're never alone, hermana." Daggers said.

"Picchu wishes princess well." Picchu said.

"We love you, Maya." Micte said, "We are so proud of you.”

"I… I'll miss all of you." Maya whispered.

Maya felt herself encased in something soft and warm, her eyes wet with tears. She slowly opened her eyes and took in her surroundings. She was in her bedroom.

She slowly got out of bed and walked towards the exit. It felt like all her energy was drained out of her. Before Maya could leave and look for anyone, she saw Rico and Chimi down the hall. The three friends saw each other and froze in their tracks.

There was silence for a while until Rico and Chimi ran to Maya, trapping her in a tight group hug, "We thought we lost you." He said.

Maya smiled as a tear ran down her face. "We did it, didn't we?" Maya whispered, hugging them back.

"We did." Chimi said.

"What happened?"

"After you defeated Mictlan, we saw our families again. Once everything calmed down, we found you unconscious."

"You look terrible." Rico said.

Maya chuckled, looking down at her bruises, "Where are my parents?"

"They're checking on Zatz."

Maya's heart stopped, "What do you mean?"

"Oh, d-did we not mention that?"

Rico and Chimi helped Maya walk down the hall, "We also found Zatz and Vucub." Chimi explained, "Vucub hasn't woken up yet, but he's ok. Zatz woke up a few hours ago. He looks just as awful as you."

They made it to one of the many rooms in the palace. Inside were King and Queen Teca and Zatz, lying in bed. Zatz was in simple black clothes and was covered in bruises like her. He stared at her with wide eyes.

The minute she saw him, Maya's eyes welled up. The last time she saw him, he was killed in front of her. And now he was here, alive and well.

Zatz smiled and held his arms out. Maya instantly ran into them. They silently cried as they held each other, "I thought I lost you.” Maya said.

"You could never lose me." Zatz said.

Later that night, there was a celebration in Teca to honor their fallen and celebrate Mictlan's defeat. Maya had a quiet dinner with her friends and family and told them what she saw before she woke up.

"You have no idea how grateful we are that you're alive." King Teca said after dinner.

"Me too." Maya said, "So, did you name the twins?"

"It was easy." Queen Teca said, "We named the boy, Jaguar, and the girl, Eagle."

"After me?"

"We wanted to honor their siblings."

"But I'm still alive."

"We don't see how that's relevant." King Teca said.

Maya smiled and hugged her parents, "You get some rest, mija." Queen Teca said.

"Buenas noches." Maya replied. When her parents left her room, Maya went to the room where Zatz was sleeping. He was sitting on the floor, staring at the moon, listening to the celebration of the rest of the kingdom below.

Maya silently sat next to him, "Hey.” She said, "Are you ok?"

"What you said about seeing your family before you woke up…" Zatz said, “It reminded me of my father."

"Oh… did you hear him too?"

"Yeah. I heard Mama, too." Zatz wiped a tear from his eye, "They said they're proud of me."

Maya smiled and put her hand on his, "Of course, they are." They sat in comfortable silence for a little while, "Hey… this might be a bad time to ask, but… what happened to Acat?"

Zatz was caught off guard, "Do you really want to know?" Maya nodded. Zatz explained what his father told him. How Acat didn't tell Mictlan where he was and how it led to her getting killed.

Maya almost didn't know what to say, "Oh, I'm… I'm sorry. Do you… do you miss her?"

"Sometimes." Zatz admitted, "I loved her at one point, but by the time you and I met, my feelings had faded. I still enjoyed our time together before then." He gripped her hand tighter, "Acat will always be a part of me, but believe me, Maya, I love you now."

"I know." Maya smiled. She moved closer to him and hugged him tightly, "I do think we could've been good friends." Zatz smiled and kissed the top of her head. They sat there for a while longer until Maya returned to her room.

Everyone fell asleep as soon as their heads hit their pillows. They dreamed of the adventures that lie ahead.

A few months later, Maya, Rico, Zatz, and Chimi had returned from the Jungle Lands. There had been word of unusual trappers and the four warriors went to investigate the situation.

Maya ran to tell her parents about what they found. She found them with Vucub, "Mama! Papa!" Maya said, "You won't believe what we saw."

"Slow down, mija, what happened?" Queen Teca asked.

"Ok, so, you know how there were strange people in the Jungle Lands?" Her parents nodded, "Well, these guys were really big and ha-had spiked helmets and armor with these giant arrows and axes. You should've seen them, some of them had red faces- anyway, they say they're 'dragon hunters."

""Dragon hunters'?" King Teca repeated, "What's a dragon?"

"I-I don't know, they're like giant monster lizard things. They come from an island we've never heard of, a whole other world."

"Another world?" Queen Teca asked.

"How is that possible?" King Teca wondered.

"We have to go there." Maya said, "We need to go with these 'dragon hunters.' There's so much out there we haven't seen yet, who knows what we'll discover!"

The king and queen looked at each other, not knowing what to think about what their daughter was saying, "Mija, think about what you're saying." Queen Teca said, "We know nothing about these strangers. How do we know they aren't dangerous-?"

"Which is why I am going with you." Vucub said, suddenly. The Tecas turned to the god in shock, "I may have lost my sight, but I am still a mighty warrior. If we can survive Mictlan, we can survive this world of 'dragons.' I shall accompany Maya and her friends to this new world."

King and Queen Teca looked at Vucub and then their daughter. The blind god made a good point. They've gone through much worse.

Meanwhile, Micte's body materializes, opening her eyes to see a different realm, out of the earthly plane of existence. Seeing She softly questions "What is this place?"

“You are in the spirit realm, milady. An undefined world, an alternate reality where perspective is skewed.” A voice said, referring to the solid gold tone of the realm, a chi lake with ripples, where peach blossom petals drift by and movements that echo the circularity of yin and yang, and the energy of chi circles.

Micte hears the voice, slowly looking up to see an old, and wise tortoise descend to her level

“Who are you?” Micte softly asks. The tortoise chuckles before saying “I am Grand Master Oogway the Magnificent,  but you may call me Oogway, your majesty.” As Oogway chuckled again. 

Micte prepares to introduce herself until Oogway says “I already know who you are, Lady Micte, Goddess of death! It is an honor to meet you. 

Micte smiles, saying “It is an honor as well, Oogway.”

“Maya is growing, maturing.” Said Oogway smiling.

Micte grows worried “Will Maya be okay?”

“Maya will be alright, milady. I have a vision that she will be the hero and queen she was always meant to be.” Oogway reassured Micte as he smiled.

“Where are they going next?” Asked Micte.

“To the island of the dragon riders.”

List of Reasons to Watch Jorge Gutierrez’s “Maya and the Three” mini-series

BEWARE OF SPOILERS

1. How cohesive and tight the storytelling it is. It feels complete once you reach the final episode.

2. The animation visuals. They are nothing sort of beautiful and top-notch.

3. The numerous handicapped characters who are still shown as complex and great characters with their disability not being an “issue to overcome”. Chimi is albino, Rico has notable stutter, and King Teca gains a limp. Even Maya counts given she has a poorly healed shoulder but said shoulder proves to be handy in the climax.

4. The character development is peak good and ell-written. You can tell how each character (namely Maya, Rico, and Chimi) transform from their first appearance to the finale.

5. The numerous amount of strong female characters. And I don’t mean just the fighting sense but in how well-written they are. All of them are given depth and weight in the story. In particular, both Maya and Chimi aren’t afraid to be vulnerable and it’s not shown as weakness.

6. The ending. It’s the perfect example of bittersweet and is one of my favorite scenes in the series. Maya dies as does many other heroes (including Picchu, Lady Micte, and Zatz). But Mictlan has been defeated and the survivors are given a last reunion with their parted loved ones. Maya and Zatz are reincarnated as the Sun and Moon, respectively. Maya’s parents, younger twin siblings, and friends are able to live a happy and peaceful life. And Chimi and Rico becomes a couple with four kids. And the ending line comes from Maya’s younger sister, Eagle: “Adios, Maya”.

(This universe is connected to Trevors-Bitter!Dads(Bone and Skull are basically daughters of divorced Vucub and Chivo) and my headcanon of Maya,Acat and Zatz being a trople).

•Wishing to harness the power of his sacrifice to the greatest,Mictlan decides to keep Maya in the Underworld,where she would train under Lady Micte and be spied on in case she would rebel.The only task for the god of war was not to get attached to said child,which he ultimately failed.

•It all started out of precaution:after his wifes surprise,Mictlan isn’t so sure about goddesses loyalty,which resulted in him silently following her, looming over her whenever she looks after Maya.It was disgusting,horrifying experience for the tyrant,especially the diapers one,but at the same time it made him warm up to the kid-after all,despite the heat of lava and biting cold it was still alive and kicking.Eventually he would even want to hold her-much to the charging of Micte.Apparently the reassurance that “he won’t kill her yet” didn’t convince her.

•Through the years,Mictlan grows found of Maya-a skilled warrior who in terms of combat does not reach only him,a person she calls “father”,unaware of the path planned for her.Despite the illusion of a happy family he created for himself,Lord of gods doesn’t forget the true reason he let the kid live:therefore,he never addresses her as “his daughter”, and except for the duels they arrange "to test Maya's power",Mictlan doesn't spend any time with her.This results in Maya thinking of herself as too weak,not worthy of her fathers attention,despite Mictes reassurance and vain attempts to make her daughter think about something other than fighting and murder.

•Mictlan would avoid talking about his plan to sacrifice with pantheon,to keep him image up in front of the other gods.If not for Goddes of Death interferences,Maya wouldn’ve been picked on by them,due of her status as “leaders toy”.

•The only friends she has are Acat with Zatz,who despite having feelings for Maya,are also aware of Mictlans influence on her.Because of that,she can be bossy and treat them as somewhat expandable,for which she later apologizes.

•Meanwhile,in the Kindom of Teca,King and Queen were contemplating about the daughter they never had,and how they would’ve celebrated her quinceañera.The conversation was overheard by Lance, Dagger, and Shield,who upon discovering the existence of their little sister, went on a journey to the Divine Gates in order to  “save” Maya from the gods,which kidnapped her?Raised her?She’s half goddes???That’s confusing,but they’ll find a way to rescue their hermana!

•During the fight at the Gate(in which Maya was forbidden to participate but she sneaked up anyway),Teca brothers accused Mictlan of his want to use Mayas heart to become invincible.After hearing that,terrified demigodess momentarily distracts the pantheon and flees with three warriors,who claimed to protect her.

•Through their journey to Teca Kingdom,Maya gets to know her brothers,who are a bit put off by her blood lust but overall supportive,and starts to question whenever the mortals Mictlan always talked about really that pathetic? Upon meeting her supposed real  father,she acts suspicious,hostile even,until she spends some time with him and Queen Teca,from whom she gets to know her origin.While being in her rightful kindom,Maya learned some patience regarding the people she loves from Queen,similar to how the later got to keep her cool with triplets; King showed her that she can fight honorably without unnecessary bloodshed,and still love every second of it!

•However, the moment of peace was quickly disrupted by the pantheon of gods, who, at the behest of their Lord, went in search of Maya.In order to protect their newly found family member the triplets go to the battle with their father,from which they didn’t return alive.That way Maya lost the first humans she really cared about.

•Around the same time,Mictlan stays in his kindom,deeply conflicted: on one hand,he lost his ticket to an infinite power,on the other-someone who he considers as his kin probably thinks of him as a monster-which he is,don’t get him wrong-but it still hurts a little.He doesn’t dwell for long however,as he gets ambushed by Micte and Camazotz,who’ve been planning to overthrow him all this time.Their sympathizers,Cipactli, Cabrakan along with Vucub,were sent to stop Mictlans band from doing harm to Maya and humanity.All the while Zatz and Acat were entrusted with a task to help Maya kill God of War.

•Meanwhile,grieving demigod finds the true prophecy and tries to requit warriors from different kindoms so that they’ll stop Mictlan,only this  Maya does that first out of anger and need for revenge-for herself and her brothers-and later out of concern for human kind.

•The following events would occur in that order: Maya would lie to her team about destroying the Divine Gate while uniting each nation against their common enemy.The biggest difference would be her relationship with crew: at first,Princess makes it clear that she wants them as her fighting force, to which the Rooster Wizard loudly announces his displeasure while Picchu tries to keep an eye of the daughter of death. The first person who warmed up to her was Chimi,which absorbed every bit of information about Eagle Warriors mother.Rico and Picchu were more sceptic of their “leader”,but later witnessed ✨the power of friendship✨ and became besties.Aside from her team,Maya would be accompanied by Acat and Zatz,who were aiding her when needed.

•During their first fight with the gods,when Vucub is aiding Chimi,one of the Goddeses of Thievery is distracted by seeing her other father there,which was enough for Rico to strike her down,mistaking skeletons confusion for a want to hurt Skull Archer.When the other sibling sees this and rushes to her defense,she’s killed as well,this time by no other then Mictlan.

•Turns out that during his battle with his wife and Camazotz ,he started to think to himself-was that really worth it?These two are fighting for the sake of their children,one of which he saw growing up.Was this race for strength more important then a little warrior who wanted to make him proud?Upon that,God of War made his decision-he surrendered and proposed to Gods of Death and Bats to help look for Maya,in turn he stops his sympathisers from hurting her or her allies.Still unsure of Mictlans sudden change of heart,Micte and Camazotz took his deal on the condition that all this time they’re going to accompany him,that way they have a chance to stop him whenever he decides to come back to his old ways.

•After the explanation everyone agreed to send Mictlan to the most guarded room in the castle(even through the God of War opposed the idea,saying that “no castle can hold him” and “he needs to talk to Maya”,but after said demigod screamed at him to shut up or it would be her turn to eat hearts,he obliged),while Camazotz,Vucub,Cipactli and Cabrakan take turns to guard their self-made prison.After reuniting with Micte,Zatz and Acat(the young gods have helped through the battle),Maya gets to partake in the dinner scene,but instead of talking about defeating Mictlan,her three parents discuss how to stop Chivo,who upon seeing God of War celebrating the murder of his daughters,realizes the later won’t sacrifice the Eagle Warrior.As an act of revenge,he started gathering the remaining pantheon,claiming that if they’ll help him overthrow their present ruler,he will share demigods power with them.

•The day of the final battle came(most of the events play similar to canon,with addition of few characters).In desperation,Chivo started devouring the gods hearts in order to transform into his final form.During the fight Micte suggested to distract God of Dark Magic in order for Maya to strike him.Seeing how Chivo has already killed Vucub,Cipactli and Cabrakan,Mictlan decides to give his heart to Micte so that she can redirect Chivos attention from the demigod.Was it stupid and contradicted centuries old goal to world domination?Yes,but he can’t bear the thought of his little warrior losing a battle.After having his life sourse ripped out his chest,Mictlan apologizes to the Eagle Warrior for all the things she endured because of him,and how much he’s proud of her. May she live her life surrounded by people who are not ashamed to call her their daughter.

•While Micte and Camazotz fight the monster from the outside,Zatz and Acat hold the goats jaw open long enough for Maya to sneak inside.Witnessing the loves of her life being crushed between Chivos teeth made the Teca Princess all the more determined to end God of Dark Magic by striking him right in the heart.

•After reuniting with her living family and friends,Maya reincarnates into the sun,Zatz becomes the moon and Acat takes the role of a Guiding Star,similar to how she abandoned her unhealthy way of thinking and joined Maya.

As you see Maya wasn't going to give up she knew what she had to do she knew she was the great eagle warrior😭😭😭 before dying she saw moments with her friends, her family, and...and her love😭😭😭 she saw herself hugging the queen and king of Teca, her brothers, then hugging the three warriors of the prophecy, Lady Micte, Z-Zatz😭😭😭 and her two new siblings eagle and jaguar. She then says the famous line throughout the whole show no it wasn't I'll see you soon princess Maya it was "if it's to be it is up to me!!!" She smiles at this line before letting out a mighty scream as she stabs the heart of Lord Mictlan killing both him and her. Her sacrifice was completed just in a way none of them expected which is pretty much what Maya said as an over voice on the screen. She died being determined to end the quest she began😭😭😭

Heeeeyyyy guys! I'm back with more Lady of Souls content! Forgive the lacking color, I got a bit lazy and drawing armor is a learning experience.

Anywhoziwatzit.... this I call "Maya's first task"

Upon the day where the tribes honor and pay tribute to their dead, Micte sends Maya out to comfort those whose misery overtakes them.

"Follow the sorrow and comfort them, mija."

First up is Luna Island, Maya is guided to Rico who is posted outside the old school rather than enjoying the festivities. She notices the spirit of the Grand Brujo sitting beside him. She is sent on a quest to remind the Grand Bruja of her father's last request

Into the Jungle Kingdom, Maya follows the sorrow to the Widow Queen. As much as the young queen misses her parents she sends Maya to Chimi who she acknowledges suffers far more. Chimi does not take her arrival well at first

Once Maya finds Picchu, after a strange and one-sided battle, she assures that Picchu was not wrong about mercy and that he does deserve a warrior's death, that it was the bandits who betrayed his honor.

Next is the entire Teca tribe. Maya joins in the ceremony dance, somehow managing to summon all of the warrior's that fell in the battle against Mictlan. When she approaches her parents however, she doesn't confess her identity. She introduces herself as a traveling priestess coming to offer whatever solace she could, and proceeds to summon her brothers - they, of course, are confused by the situation but stay surprisingly silent.

"Can you bring back our daughter? She was taken from us by a cruel god."

"My apologies my queen, it seems I cannot find the princess."

As hard as it was to see the heartbroken looks on her parents' faces, Maya manages to stay strong. Letting them believe that she was lost.

And last but not least, when Maya returns to the Underworld, Camazotz asks a favor of her. He gives her the bracelet from his late wife.

"He doesn't know I took it, but if you could... bring her to him, I would be indebted to you."
