God is testing our hypocrisy, revealing the truth behind what we say and how we live. As it says in Matthew 15:8, 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.' We may hide from others, but not from God. He sees our hearts, like it says in 1 Samuel 16:7, 'People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.' We are called to live out our faith, not just speak it. James 1:22 reminds us to be 'doers of the word, not hearers only.' Through these trials, God refines us, testing our hearts like silver in the furnace (Proverbs 17:3).

Cunning Craftiness is Christian Music
Looking to distract the children of God? Yes I am, said Satan. They will not believe the Mature in Christ who tells the truth about today’s Christian music. I have done my job in betraying all Babes or Carnal in their thinking. I have been cunning since the beginning. Remember, I open up eyes of everyone to know about good and evil. Ungodly desires always gives birth to sin. I just want you to…

Matthew 15:8 ‘These people honor ME with their lips, but their hearts are far from ME.
Charles John Ellicott, Theologian [1749-1905]
We have already seen in Matthew 13:14 how the Pharisees were taught to see their own likeness in the language of the prophet. Now the mirror is held up once more, and they are seen to have been anticipated in that very substitution of human for divine ordinances, which our LORD reproves them.
Matthew 13:14 | The Purpose of the Parables In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
Matthew Henry | Matthew 15:1-9
Additions to GOD's laws reflect upon HIS wisdom —as if HE'd left out something which was needed, and which man could supply; in one way or other they always lead men to disobey GOD.
How thankful ought we to be for the written word of GOD! Never let us think that the religion of the Bible can be improved by any human addition, either in doctrine or practice.
Our blessed LORD spoke of their traditions as inventions of their own, and pointed out one instance in which this was very clear, that of their transgressing the fifth commandment.
When a parent's wants called for assistance, they pleaded, that they had devoted to the temple all they could spare, even though they did not part with it, and therefore their parents must expect nothing from them.
This was making the command of GOD of no effect. The doom of hypocrites is put in a little compass; In vain do they worship ME. It will neither please GOD, nor profit themselves; they trust in vanity,
& vanity will be their recompense.

Words Matter. Read These and See If You Don't Agree
Read every word of this quote, and see if it sounds sane, or crazy. “Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, but by me.'” (John 14:6, NIV) This short statement is amazingly full, and it’s worth challenging. It’s also worth considering. Depth Not Length First of all, consider the first two words: Jesus SAID. The spoken word is incredibly important in the…

Revelation 21: Dawn of a New Era
John saw a place being made ready. At some future time, nations would stream in, and rulers would be laden with sumptuous gifts representing the best of their people, just as ambassadors of old streamed into the throne rooms of emperors. #Revelation21
But I did not see a temple in the city, for the city’s temple is the Lord God, the Almighty and the Lamb. The city also does not have need of the sun nor the moon in order to enlighten her, for the glory of God illuminated the city, and the light of the city is the Lamb. For the nations will walk by the light of the city, and the rulers of the earth are bringing forth their glory into the…

Steadfast Faith in Christ: Standing Tall and Moving Forward
In this critical time, we are called to elevate our faith and broaden our understanding of the grand mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Photo by Jordan Steranka on Unsplash Standing a little taller with steadfastness of faith in Christ requires a resolute commitment to His teachings and a deep trust in His divine will. As 1 Corinthians 16:13 encourages us, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” This verse calls us to be vigilant, firm, and courageous in our faith. It’s about embracing a strength that…

Knowledge without Understanding | Troy Nicholson [John 16:16]
In John 16:16, among HIS final words to HIS Disciples before HIS death, JESUS said, “A little while, and you will no longer see ME; & again a little while, and you will see ME.”
The Disciples had no problem simply knowing the words that HE spoke.
In fact, they could quote them word for word [v.17].
John 16:17-18 | Grief Will Turn to Joy
¹⁷ Then some of HIS Disciples asked one another, “Why is HE telling us, ‘In a little while you will not see ME, & then after a little while you will see ME’ & ‘Because I am going to the FATHER’?”
But when it came to understanding the meaning of those words, they had no idea. “We do not know [understand] what HE is talking about” [v.18].
They kept asking, “Why is HE saying, ‘a little while’? We do not understand what HE is saying.”
They suffered from what could be described as 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.
How often do we suffer from the same condition as the Disciples? How often do we possibly know a passage in the Bible well enough to quote both forward & backward, yet we do not understand what it really means?
If we have learned it, can we “rightly divid[e] the word of truth” [2 Tim 2:15]? Being able to quote Scripture is a worthy goal, but what good does it do us if we cannot explain to someone what it means?
<<This guy sounds conflicted by not knowing too>>
♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ At times, we experience the same problem in our singing. We sing some songs often enough to have them memorized. ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯ ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮ ♯
We know the words so well that we can sing them without thinking about them, & we do.
If we were pressed to actually think about some of what we sing & explain the meaning of the words, we may be at a loss.
As James wrote “My brethren, these things ought not be so” [James 3:10]. Like Paul, we ought to be able to “sing with the understanding” of what we are singing [1 Corinthians 14:15].
……………………………………………………………………………… 1 Corinthians 14:15 | What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁, but I will also 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱. ………………………………………………………………………………
How can we effectively “teach & admonish one another” if we do not understand what we are saying through our singing to one another?
[Colossians 3:16]
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of CHRIST richly dwell within you as you teach & admonish one another with all wisdom, & as you sing psalms, hymns, & spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to GOD.
So how do we develop the understanding we need? We can begin by examining the context and/or other related passages.
Like the eunuch from Ethiopia:
we may need to seek the help of others [Acts 8:30-31], whether through direct questions, the use of commentaries, or some other means..
[Always keep in mind that others can be wrong]
Sometimes we simply need to grab a dictionary & look up a word. While we need to be full of know -ledge, that knowledge needs to be accompanied by understanding.
It is only when we have the proper understanding that we can make proper application to our lives.
Thx for your efforts in these summaries, I actually do enjoy them -- this rubbed me the wrong way, classic: "Christians are idiots, they turn their minds off"
Apparently if we say things as though have arrived we're like egomaniacs, there's catch 22 all over the place in the Bible.
I don't want to absorb any more ideas that #clash against stuff I know to be true, makes me steamed to have to walk it back & regret trusting someone.
2 Corinthians 11:21 | Paul’s Suffering & Service ²¹ To my shame I concede we were too weak for that! Speaking as a fool, however, I can match what anyone else dares to #boast about."
The MSG: Since you admire the egomaniacs of the pulpit so much [remember, this is your old friend, the fool, talking], let me try my hand at it.
To me that means, people pretend to know but in reality: They don't, their fragile egos can't take the fact that it's all a façade or shallow memorization
And the sad truth is it hasn't actually landed in their soul to make a real difference so why not pound the ground, make your demands known to GOD that this pretending sucks the life out of you & you don't want to go to Church anymore or fake a smile or whatever else is the norm in Church #institutions
these people worship ME with their lips [Matthew 15:8]
Matthew 15:8 | ⁸ ‘These people honor ME with their lips, but their hearts are far from ME.

Matthew 1:1, 17 (NIV). “This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham: Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.”
Romans 8:15 (NLT). “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (NLT).“It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.”
“A Promise Kept” By In Touch Ministries:
“God has been transforming lives throughout history and will do the same today for anyone who trusts Him.”
“The first chapter of Matthew’s gospel records the lineage of Jesus. Starting with Isaac, the miracle child born to Abraham, there are 42 generations until the universe-altering event of the Savior’s birth. Among the names listed, there are schemers, prostitutes, murderers, kings, and idol worshippers. Many of these men and women had their lives transformed by God and, by His miraculous workings, were given a place of honor in the ancestry of Christ.
The same God who orchestrated it all is the one who promises us eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ. The Bible records God’s faithfulness in keeping promises made to us, His children. He has reassured us that we who are born again have a place in His family (Romans 8:15). And the Holy Spirit has been given to us as a pledge, ensuring we will receive our eternal inheritance (2 Corinthians 1:21-22).
We need only enter into a personal relationship with Christ. There are no additional specifications to meet, and God’s blessings belong to us the instant we become His children. Our Father has promised, and we can count on Him.”
