It hurts me so bad every time I remember that Etain and Darman could be together, and not, free, but they both had more important matters.
Etain died jumping between a trooper and a padawan, Darman was incorporated into the imperial army because he stayed behind to tend to a brother.
Etain could've lived
Darman could've been free
But they weren't, because they deemed other things more important.
What is this agenda against clones and jedi being happy

sorry this is like, weeks after you asked, the holidays kicked my ass and then i got sick
so what repcomm does to address order 66 is establish throughout all four books leading up to it that the clones will follow orders, not because they don't have free will, not because they're mind controlled, but because following orders in a war is what makes you a soldier, it very often saves your life
they dont do any of the shit in tcw/tbb where roughly every other episode some character disobeys a direct lawful order likely meant to protect them, and the fact that they disobeyed is what saves the day (i am looking specifically at omega)
this reblog has a whole bunch of book quotes about how following orders is like. not optional. and actually good
repcomm also does some interesting stuff with the relationship of jedi and clones- the book series get a lot of hate for 'jedi bashing' but i really don't think that's fair. many of the primary characters are critical of the jedi order, but there isn't a single jedi character in the series that's actually treated as a full antagonist
basically, the series raises some very interesting questions about why exactly jedi, who are not trained as military officers, are in charge of an army suddenly. geonosis casualties are extremely high (1/3 of the entire army, 1/2 of the commando squads) specifically because the jedi had no idea what the hell they were doing with military tactics. the main character jedi spend the series trying their best to learn, acknowledging when their clone officers should be the ones calling the shots, being useful where they can. the series does a lot with subverting the command structure in interesting ways, how far you can really push that, when you can't. bardan jusik (a general) acts like an officer as little as he can possibly get away with while kal skirata (a sergeant) regularly pushes generals around. etain tur mukan (general) spends a lot of the series desperately trying to grow into that role. arligan zey (general, jedi master) is treated as a bit of a problem specifically because as head of the spec ops brigade he can't take that back seat role even if he wants to
so you have the clones who are to some extent aware that while the jedi have magic powers, their military qualifications are... somewhat lacking, and now we all just have to kind of deal with that as best we can
long story short, order 66 in repcomm is one of 150 contingency orders that every clone officer has memorized. it's not a sleeper agent activation phrase. there's stuff in there about killing/arresting the chancellor too, if necessary. in fact, here's all the known orders:
so in the books, when order 66 comes through, it's a lawful order directly from the supreme chancellor, communicating that the jedi are now acting against the republic, and must be stopped using lethal force. because what else are you going to do with extremely powerful magic space wizards with mind powers?? 'capture alive' isn't realistic if the jedi have turned on the republic
and then quite a few of the clones actually do disobey the order. i don't want to spoil anything directly in case you read the series, but omega squad is completely doing their own thing during order 66, a certain arc captain makes a certain choice of his own, delta squad is on kashyyyk, bardan is losing his mind trying to locate etain, it's absolute havoc
(the books also show you the battle of coruscant on the ground and just. damn. damn. it hits hard. really hard.)
idk it just makes me sad- that the version where men whose emotional journeys, relationships with their officers, militaristic mindset, intense battle fatigue, the hopes and dreams they manage to have and the doubts and questions they barely dare to voice even to each other... we see all that, and then they have to make a choice- obey a lawful order given by the supreme commander to perfect soldiers, or do the impossibly difficult, unthinkable thing, and as the man that the republic doesn't believe you are, disobey that order because some small doubtful part of you hopes that it's wrong?
also the extreme irony that the only real hope the jedi had of surviving order 66 was to either 1- refuse to play the game (bardan jusik took this option and was only capable of doing so because he was broken down to the point where he couldn't remain a general AND he had somewhere else to go and something useful to do, this is simply not possible for most jedi) or 2- consistently, for three years, despite what the republic and the war needs, despite what the men themselves want and are comfortable with, despite your own exhaustion and moral crisis, treat the clone soldiers whose lives are under your command, with nothing less than full respect and dignity and hope that when they're told you're a traitor and they need to kill you that they'll think twice
it makes me SO SAD that this was all trashed for mind control trope simply because a kid's show can't fit that much nuance and depth in it
here is my biggest complaint about the animated star wars shows (the clone wars and the bad batch, no comment on rebels)
before i even get started, i know these are kids shows told in 20 minute episodes, and that the reason for my beef is because the 2008 clone wars show was focusing primarily on the jedi, and didnt have the time/wasnt interested in treating the GAR as an actual military and needed to appeal to a young audience. i get that. i do. now with that out of the way im going to bitch and moan unapologetically about how X Thing Ruined Star Wars, because that's the fandom's national sport, ok?
the shows treat the GAR like a high school. everyone is somewhat childish (to appeal to the young audience). disobeying orders is something cool heroes do. (ANAKIN.) improvisation is treated as a fun and cool tactic that generally works out after a whacky adventure, not something you do as a last resort when your actual plan fails. main character's competency is primarily shown through their enemies (and sometimes their minor character allies) suddenly becoming inexplicably stupid.
'good soldiers follow orders' becomes a terrifying signal that a character has lost their agency. 'when have we ever followed orders?' becomes a rallying cry and heroic last words.
when youve written a military THAT badly, how are you supposed to force your beloved characters to follow Order 66? well, you're kind of stuck with mind control.
it didnt have to be this way 😭😭
#verp talks#this is too long already but i still have more to say fuck#like how repcomm specifically points out how the war is being played as a stalemate#how palpatine is intentionally preventing either side from winning#how he is specifically isolating jedi#one or two in a system#spread out as much as possible#physically isolating them before he gives the order#republic commando#repcomm#meta#i hope this is coherent and like helpful to someone who hasnt read the books

12. “Why are you awake?”
@clingy-ghost
Etain peered doubtfully out from her bunk in the almost-empty creche room.
“Why are you awake?” she blurted out, more sharply than she really meant it. “Didn’t your ship get back late? Aren’t you supposed to be asleep?”
But Rhedian just beamed back up at her, stretching up on tip-toes to peer into Etain’s top bunk, her hair a mess aside from her meticulously plaited Padawan’s braid, her hands clasped suspiciously behind her back.
“Scoot over already!” Rye chirped without missing a beat, “Before the instructors realize we’re breaking curfew.”
Rhedian didn’t even have a curfew- Padawans listened to their Masters, not to the creche-instructors. Etain stared at her wearily for a moment trying to figure out what exactly Rye was up to. Rye, who was still looking up at her, expectant and not a little impatient and… smelling distinctly of citrus?
What?
“What,” Etain asked even as she pushed backwards, pressing against the wall to make room for Rye on the narrow mattress, “exactly are you doing?”
“Sleepover! Now move! No, the other way or I will land on your elbow. That’s better.”
It was a tighter fit than it had been when they were both little and the creche instructors used to chide them for sneaking into one another’s bunks to gossip and whisper after lights-out. Etain was turned on her side, as far back as she could go, Rhedian squeezed alongside her with one leg half-dangling off the edge of the bed. Rye didn’t seem to mind though. It was hard to see, exactly, but Etain thought she could make out something small and circular her friend was cradling to her chest.
“Rhedian...” Etain whispered again, apprehensive and glancing across the room to where the only other initiate their age was still sleeping. If this was going to be a repeat of the Incident...
But Rhedian pressed on undeterred. “I brought you something!” Feeling around in the darkness, she grabbed blindly until she found Etain’s hand and squeezed it. Then she cupped Etain’s fingers expectantly and slipped something into them. “From my trip!”
The citrus smell grew stronger. Etain realized she was holding some kind of small, smooth skinned fruit, one that sat unexpectedly heavily in her hand. “... what?”
Rye made a small, impatient noise. “Vinefruit. It grows in the jungle outside the Capitol on. You should hurry and peel it. We had nothing but rationpaste for dinner on the ship, and I am starving.” As if to reinforce the point, Rye’s stomach chose that moment to gurgle loudly.
Etain couldn’t help it. She laughed, quickly moving to stifle the noise with her free hand. Rhedian gently shoved her knee anyway, which didn’t help at all.
“I thought that you said you brought me something.”
“Yes, well,” Rye huffed, “you can still share. Come on already. Try it.”
Obediently, Etain sunk her nails into the smooth skin of the fruit. It split apart easily into small, star-shaped sections, one of which she handed to Rye, leaving her fingers sticky. Too late, Etain realized the juice was probably going to make a mess all over the pillow.
Oh well. Too late now.
She took a bite. “Oh. That’s sweet.”
Her eyes had just adjusted enough that she could make out Rhedian trying not to grin around her mouthful of fruit. She had a distinct I told you so look, a pride in being correct that was utterly familiar. Etain didn’t care. She took another bite, almost tempted to lick the juice from her fingers.
It was Rhedian’s turn to stifle a giggle. “ I know, right? I had one planet side and immediately thought of you. It tastes much better than muja fruit.”
Etain was highly partial to muja fruit, to most citrus fruit actually, but she nodded in agreement anyway. “It’s better than chocolate.”
“I wouldn’t go quite that far. But I knew you would like it.”
With so little space and so much familiarity between them, Etain could feel Rhedian’s pleasure in the Force as easily as she could hear it in her friend’s voice. It settled between them, soft and content-feeling, like a warm blanket. Rye squeezed Etain’s arm again, waiting patiently for Etain to finish her portion, still smiling.
Etain looked down at the sheets, uncertain why her face suddenly felt warm. She chewed, slow and deliberate, until the last of the vinefruit was gone, leaving behind nothing but the ghost of its scent.
“What was it like?” she asked eventually, stretching as much as she could with out brushing against Rye . “Going on a real mission off-world? Arion’s mostly wilderness, right? Not like Coruscant at all.”
Rhedian propped herself up on one elbow, looking down into Etain’s face. “No. The planet was beautiful,” she whispered with clear relish, and then- “I wish you could have seen it though. I missed you.”
There was a twinge in Etain’s chest at that, one she couldn’t explain. She pushed right past it, pushing playfully at Rhedian’s shoulder. “No you didn’t. I bet you spent the entire time having absolutely crazy adventures and were too busy to even think about the Temple. Did you get to use your new lightsaber at all?”
“Actually,” Rye’s nose scrunched the way it always did when she got annoyed with something, “My master kept me busy, but so much of it was errands, Etain. Padawan go do this. Padawan, cross-reference that with the official plant database? Oh, Padawan, could you take a message for me?” At Etain’s unbelieving giggle, Rhedian shook her head. “I really did think about- wait.”
Etain froze. She could feel it too. More than that, she could hear the footsteps now. One of the creche-masters was coming. Wordlessly, she tugged at Rhedian’s arm, pulling them both flat against the mattress even as Rye tugged the blanket over both of them, the way they always had when they hid as kids.
They were too old and too big for it to do any good now, but Etain put a knowing finger to her lips anyway. Rhedian bit her lip hard, clearly trying not to laugh outright. For a moment, all was right with the galaxy.
Then-
“Girls.”
Busted.
#clingy-ghost#Okay listen I had to write about baby!Rhedian and baby!Etain okay?#Or in this case awkward 13 year old Etain#I love them both so much and I firmly believe that they got into the most trouble when they were together#I'm guessing this is shortly after Rhedian was assigned a Master but before Etain was chosen by Fulier and/or sent to the AgriCorps#whatever the case may be depending on the verse#like right before#Rhedian & Etain#which will someday maybe blossom into#RhedianxEtain#but Etain is a dumb teenager here#Rhedian#Etain Tur-Mukan#My Writing

Kal Skirata Headcanon
Despite not liking Jedi, Kal Skirata's regular drinking buddy is Master Rahm Kota.
Kal is rather fond of Shaak Ti.
Skirata once wrote Shaak a very sweet Valentine's day card.
After Ahsoka's trial and departure from the Order: Kal Skirata, Bardan Jusik & Etain Tur-Mukan made a point of finding her to check-up on her and make sure she's ok.
Kal once invited Ahsoka to join his Mandalore clan.
After seeing with her own eyes what Kal does for the clones, and spending some time with his clan, Ahsoka told him she'd think about it.
The armor Tano wore during the Siege of Mandalore was a gift from Skirata.

Star Wars Alien Species - Gurlanin
The Gurlanins were a polymorphic species native to the planet Qiilura. Qiilura had many islands with fertile soil, deep river inlets, rolling plains, deciduous forests, lakes, and gameboard fields. The planet also had gem mines, sources of zeka quartz and green silicates. The planet was home to a number of native non-sentient species such as gdans, merlies and vheks.
During the Clone Wars, Qiilura was the location of a Separatist biological weapons lab that was developing a pathological agent specifically designed to kill clones. During the Mission to Qiilura, Omega Squad—a squad of Republic commandos—was sent to destroy the biological weapons lab and, if possible, locate Jedi Master Kast Fulier and his Padawan Etain Tur-Mukan. Although Master Kast Fulier was dead prior to their arrival, Omega Squad was ultimately successful in destroying the lab after joining up with Padawan Tur-Mukan and enlisting the help of a native Gurlanin, Jinart.
Due to the Separatist droids burning the barq fields in the search of one of Omega's members, there was a galactic shortage of the grain, causing economic problems for both the Trade Federation and the already impoverished farmers who lost their crops.
After the success of the mission to Qiilura, a deal was struck between the Republic and the Gurlanins to remove the Human colony. The terms of the agreement specified that the Gurlanins, with their ridiculously effective espionage skills, would act as spies for the Republic, and the entire Human colony would immediately be evicted from the planet by Republic forces. For the members of the dwindling population of Gurlanins, this meant that the merlie herds would once again reach their previous numbers in the wild, restoring balance to the environment. Failing to keep their end of the bargain, a Republic garrison was established and led by General Arligan Zey and Commander Etain Tur-Murkan. Their objective was to train the Human colonists in guerrilla warfare in case of another Separatist attack. However, because the Separatists had no other interests in the system, all that the training and equipping accomplished was the further encroachment of Gurlanin territory by Human colonists.
Furious, the Gurlanins decided that the only way to get the Republic to listen was to grab it by the ears. An entire Republic troopship was destroyed due to information leaked to the Separatists by Gurlanin agents. This caused the Senate to immediately understand the tremendous threat the Gurlanins could be, and a decision was quickly made to remove the Human colonists on Qiilura.
The Senate Committee on Refugees was informed by Republic Intelligence that at least two, and possibly a much larger number of other Gurlanins, had infiltrated Coruscant, where they were in place and standing by to inflict significant damage to the Republic in retaliation for the continued occupation of Qiilura. Tur-Murkan, now a General, led a contingent of clone troopers to expedite the evacuation of the Human colonists. The colonists resisted leaving their homes, and openly engaged Republic forces with the militias trained by Zey and Tur-Murkan. The evacuation quickly became an eviction, and when clone casualties grew out of hand, Tur-Murkan regretfully gave the order to use lethal force, if necessary, to remove the remaining colonist hold-outs.
When the Empire rose into power, Qiilura was conquered by Imperial stormtroopers.
During the Yuuzhan Vong's incursion into the galaxy, Qiilura fell within space conquered by the invaders.
Gurlanin are largely considered mysterious and manipulative, and always dangerous. Changelings are regarded by most as beings untrustworthy, though the Gurlanin are very loyal to those they deem worthy of their trust. However, betrayal of that trust can earn a very dangerous enemy, as the Gurlanin are vengeful. The Gurlanin are noted as having some of the most pleasant, soothing voices in the galaxy, lending aid to their attempts at persuasion and deception.
In their natural form, Gurlanin are large, fourlegged canines with coarse black fur and no noticeable ears. Their mouths have a number of sharp, lethal fangs used for hunting small mammals on Qiilura. However, Gurlanin are meta-morphs, and can change shape at will, often appearing as whatever is necessary to achieve their goals.
Gurlanin vary wildly in height, and weigh about 80 kilograms or 176 pounds.
Gurlanins age at the following stages:
1 - 10 Child
11 - 17 Young Adult
18 - 45 Adult
46 - 60 Middle Age
61 - 74 Old
Examples of Names: Helabrus, Jinart, Tanclae, Valaqil.
Languages: Gurlanin speak to each other telepathically, but most all have learned Basic, to better spy on the local barq farmers.

Clonetober #20 Clones and Their Jedis 1/10
In this story, I’m going to tell you guys about each Battalion and their Jedi(s). I will also tell you guys about one of the Commandos and His Jedi “WIFE.” So…..saying that. I’m going to tell you about the Commandos first.
The Clone Commandos were one of the most POWERFUL and ELITE types of Clones. Their mission tasks were to CONVERT INFILTRATION, SABOTAGE, DEMOLITION and ASSASSINATION. The Clone Commandos and Jedi I’m going to talk about one of the Clone Commandos “Darman Skirata” and his Jedi “WIFE Etain Tur-Mukan.” Darman Skirata first met Etain Tur-Mukan when he and his “OMEGA SQUAD” were going to the planet “Qiilura” to destroy a bio-weapon facility. They had Jedi Master “Kast Fulier” and his Padawan “Etain Tur-Mukan” to help them DESTROY THE BIO-WEAPON FACILITY. Master Kast Fulier and his Padawan Etain Tur-Mukan went to Qiilura to get more information about the BIO-WEAPON FACILITY.
Darman and his OMEGA SQUAD were waiting for Master Kast Fulier to arrive so they could get started with their mission. When Master Kast’s ship landed, he came out with his Padawan Etain Tur-Mukan. Darman was head over heels when he first saw her when she got off the ship and started walking with her Master as they went to meet the Commandos. When Master Kast introduced his Padawan Etain Tur-Mukan, Darman couldn’t speak when she asked him what his name was. Darman said, “I’m Bio. No Sorry...I’m Ah….” As he was trying to say his name when one of his Clone Commando Brother “Niner” came up and said, “Hey Ms Etain Tur-Mukan. My name is Niner and this is my Baby Brother Darman.” Etain then asked Niner this, “Is...Darman OK? He looks like he’s having a SEIZURE.” Niner looked at Darman then turned to Etain and said, “Oh his fine. He just gets nervous meeting new people plus, it’s been awhile since he met ....” Niner was going to say “PRETTY WOMAN” when Darman got out of his daydream and said out loud, “MET A JEDI PADAWAN.” Etain said this, “OK…..Well it’s nice to meet you guys. I’m excited to work with you guys. Master Kast told me about you guys. I GUYS are much BIGGER than what I thought. You guys are even BIGGER than a REGULAR CLONE. Even though they are taller than me. It must be because of your guys armor that makes you guys like BIG. I always LOVE tall men. I mean I like…..Oh. Sorry. I hear Master Kast is calling me. BYE.” After they see her leave, Niner elbows him saying, “I think she LIKES YOU. “ Darman told his Brother to “SHUT UP.”
As they traveled, they found a spot where they could camp for the night. Etain has never camped outside before but she was always ready to try new things. They had “Fi” set up the tents and “Atin '' was going to make dinner while Niner talked with Master Kast about the plans. Atin told Etain and Darman to get some firewood because Niner told Atin that they both LOVE EACH OTHER. Also, Niner and the other Clone Commandos (except for Darman) placed a bet on when they saw Darman and Etain kiss each other. They both agreed as they were going to collect some wood. Both Etain and Darman asked questions to one another as they were collecting wood. When they headed back, Etain slipped on a rock while she was crossing the river and fell into the cold water and Darman had just crossed it. He turned around when he heard a splash and saw Etain sitting in the shallow river. He dropped the wood on the ground and ran to go help her. As he did, he slipped on a rock and also fell into the river. Both of them were laughing at each other. Darman got up and helped Etain who was soaked to the bone. As he was helping her up, she told him that she “might have” sprained her ankle. When Darman heard that, he IMMEDIATELY called on his comlink and asked Fi & Atin to come help because Etain sprained her ankle. They rushed over to see Darman hold Etain in his arms and started walking back to camp so THOSE 2 could bring the fire wood. Once they were back, Darman brought her to one of the tents so Niner could look at her ankle. Niner told her to change into her other clothes. Etain agreed and asked Darman to bring her backpack that had her spare clothes in it. Once he got it, he went to the tent and put his arm through the opening to hand her backpack without seeing her. He feared that he would be seeing her with no clothes on. Etain told him that it was OK to come into the tent and that she didn’t start undressing and also, she COULDN’T REACH her backpack because of her ankle.
Darman took a deep breath in and went into the tent to hand her her backpack. Before he was about to leave, she stopped him and asked him if he would help her. Darman asked her, “Do..do you think that it would be OK if I helped you? I mean would Master Kast be OK with me helping you..? Before he was about to finish, Etain grabbed his hand and whispered to him saying, “He will SOON know if YOU DON’T KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN. Now are you just going to stand there and watch me get cold or are you going to help me?!” Darman nodded and helped her get undressed.
Once she was done, Darman poked his head out to make sure the coast was clear for him to exit the tent so NO ONE would know that he helped her get undressed. After the coast was clear, he told Etain that he was going to get Niner to look when Etain grabbed his hand and said, “I’m so...I’m sorry. I lied that I sprained my ankle. I lied about it because when I first saw you, I fell in love with you and I wanted you to carry me.” Darman said, “I felt the same way about you too. Except for the part of you carrying ME. I think I would be too heavy for you to carry me! ” Both laugh. Darman was about to take off his helmet to give Etain a kiss when they heard Atin yelling that dinner was ready. He put his helmet back on and told Etain that they should get some food. Etain nodded with a somewhat sad face but when she left the tent, she put on a smile as if nothing ever happened. Once everyone got their plate of food. The Clone Commandos took off their helmets. Etain started to stare at Darman as he lifted his helmet off. Once he lifted it up, Darman opened his beautiful eyes and made eye contact with Etain. When Etain saw his eyes, she fainted. Darman dropped his plate and was able to catch her before she hit the ground. Darman held her as she was waking up. Niner and the others looked at her and asked if she was OK. She told them that she was OK. Darman slowly lifted her up as he fed and gave her some water. She felt much better knowing that he was the one she was looking for. A MAN who cared about her health and loved her.
As they all sat by the campfire and were eating, Niner whispered to Master Kast Fulier while everyone was busy eating, saying that Darman has a crush on Etain and Etain has a crush on Darman. Master Kast nodded. He then whispered to Niner and told him that he knew that they were in love. He also told him that they would make a perfect couple. Once Niner heard that, he told Master Kast that they should get Darman and Etain to fall in love and that they should get married. Master Kast said that they should because he was not going to take care of his Padawan FOREVER and wanted her to be happy with the person she loves no matter what the Jedi Rules say about no marriage. Niner nodded and told him his plan. Master Kast nodded and agreed.
Niner told everyone where they were assigned to sleep. He told Atin and Fi to sleep in this tent while he and Master Kast sleep in the other. He told Darman and Etain that “somehow” they forgot to bring a tent for Etain to sleep in and “suggested” that THEY should sleep together by the campfire. Both Darman and Etain were both looking at each other and agreed to. Etain sleep a few feet from Darman. Darman saw that she was shaking and told her that he would keep her warm. Etain nodded and started to come closer to Darman. He took off his armor and motioned her to come closer. Etain laid on his chest as Darman put a blanket over both of them. Etain gave him a kiss on the lips out of nowhere and told him thank you. Darman gives her a kiss back and says that you are welcome.
I know this isn’t how the REAL STORY GOES but like I said before. THIS IS MY STORY AND I CAN DECIDE WHAT I WANT IN MY STORY! So saying that, they finished the missing, Darman and Etain went to get married in THE WAY OF AN MANDALORIAN WAY. Then Etain was pregnant with Darman’s child and after a few months, their son was born. They named him “Venku Skirata” and they all lived happily ever after since Order 66 NEVER HAPPENED. The End.
Thank you for reading my story. I hope you guys like it. Please let me know how you liked my story. I will write #2 of his story but with other Clones and their Jedis.

hallucinate
A/N: AU in that Etain told Darman about the pregnancy sooner. Also, warnings for near-death experience.
Summary: His presence is a comfort.
------------------------
Whoever said your life flashes before your eyes, before you die, was wrong.
The thought passed briefly through Etain Tur-Mukan’s mind as she attempted to nudge herself a few centimeters to the left without falling over completely. Somehow, despite the fact that her body had gone numb and stiff from the cold of the Telosian nights and wintery days long ago, she was still feeling a little bit of pain from the metal fragment, part of the downed larty’s door she’d taken refuge in, digging into her shoulder blades. She had long stopped moving if she could help it, sharp pain lancing through her body every time she moved, and had stopped using the Force to scan for threats long ago. She also had no idea if the Redeemer was still in orbit or not, she had lost contact with the Redeemer days ago, when the attempted invasion of the Separatist-held city went very, very wrong in the matter of seconds. She didn’t even know how many standard days ago the resulting devastation had been, she had drifted in and out of consciousness since then.
I know Intel screws up, Dar, but really? Do they screw up this badly?
General Grievous. No one had warned her, nor the Jedi Knight accompanying her and the troops, that Grievous would be here as well. He’d made quick work of the Knight accompanying them, and she had a few precious hours to draw him away from the troops before he caught up to her. She’d given parting orders to the commander in charge -- continue the campaign without me and alert the Redeemer. Do not come after me -- and began to draw Grievous away from the troops. And her plan worked. Grievous followed her to the crash site where the Separatists had shot down two larties earlier that week. Where she knew there would be no men for Grievous to hurt.
But he nearly killed her in the process. Even days later -- she couldn’t quite remember the number of sunrises she’d counted anymore -- she was mildly surprised that she had woken up at all after Grievous finally threw her into the air, in the direction of the crashed larty that she now lay against. Her lightsabers were long gone, her wounds from Grievous still untreated and undoubtedly infected by now, there was a dull throb in the back of her skull, her face and hands numbed from the cold, skin tight with barely healed injuries, but she was still breathing. Somehow. In another life, she may have seen it as a sign from the Force, but now, after having lost her faith and trust in the only life she had ever known on Qiilura...she wasn’t so sure.
Force, I miss you, Darman. I know we have our duties, but I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you one last time.
Etain closed her eyes, shifting her thoughts back to Darman and Kad. Darman… she couldn’t tell where he was at the moment, just that he was alert and his attention was narrowed and focused -- on a mission then. She withdrew her awareness, not wanting to disturb him. She could still feel Kad in the Force, through the bond that she’d had with him since his birth. Kad was content, and she hoped he still remembered her and Darman despite the little time the two got with him. Telling Darman that night about her pregnancy, when Kal introduced the baby to Omega Squad, had been absolutely terrifying, and it had taken a few more days for the two to reconcile afterwards. During the reconciliation, she had mentioned leaving the Jedi Order, once the war was over, so they could be a family. Darman had started imagining a future there, for the three of them.
I’m sorry, Dar, that we won’t be able to get that particular future now.
Etain let out a slow exhale, blinking when she slowly realized that the blurred gray-blue line she’d been staring at, for what felt like hours now, was actually the craggy tree line as the sun rose yet again. Another morning. She’d lived through another night. She closed her eyes, a twinge of despair fluttering in her stomach as she slowly realized she had already lost feeling in her fingers and limbs, and could not recall how long it had been like that. Not long now. She let out another slow exhale, watching the white puff of air dissipate into the skies. Her ribs were aching with each breath, she could still feel that. She closed her eyes, slowing her breaths to lessen the dulling pain.
Dar. She could sense him again, still focused and alert on his task at hand. She tried not to distract him in those moments, but she also took a modicum of comfort in sensing his familiar presence. She then tried to withdraw, to let him work undisturbed, but his presence lingered, a calm and steady reassurance that she leaned against for the briefest of seconds before withdrawing her awareness further. But her concentration failed a few seconds later, she felt worn down from fatigue and injury.
He felt close enough now, actually, that she could almost imagine that he was there, on Telos Six, with his squad. He’d move carefully and purposefully through the trees, unhindered and not slowed down by bothersome Jedi trying to keep up with him. Maybe, he was listening to Fi’s wisecracks in the background comm chatter. Fi, who would be trying to spark a reaction from Atin while also providing a running commentary of any gleaned intelligence. Niner, she knew, would be reminding them to stay focused on the objective that Master Zey had given them prior to their deployment.
A spike of alertness from Darman brought her wandering thoughts back to reality. He’d spotted something. Etain tried to withdraw her awareness again, as to not distract him. He’d told her once, that he could sense when she was near him. She let a small exhale when her concentration slipped again, and she remained still, unable to summon the focus necessary for a complete withdrawal. Her eyes fluttered closed as she tried to once again pull back her awareness, as to not distract him. The resulting darkness was more...alluring, than she ever suspected, pulling her into its depths even as she clung to the threads of her bonds. Those she could not let go just yet.
There is no death, there is the Force.
Alertness shifted to determination, and his presence grew stronger. She wasn’t sure if she imagined the sound of soft crunching of dirt, twigs and leaves that was slowly coming close to her. She heard a soft clicking, one she’d heard many times as the men removed or sealed their helmets, but her eyelids felt too heavy for her to check. She tried to send a little reassurance to both Darman and Kad even as she felt her consciousness ebb from her grasp.
The last thing she thought she heard was her name in a familiar whisper.
A whisper that did not stop.

Did anyone advocate for clone rights? Or spoke up about the injustice behind it? Or wanted to but could not? If that makes sense
The first ones to speak against it were the Jedi who refused to take part in war and walked away from the Order.
Following the Battle of Geonosis, many Jedi chose to leave the Order rather than serve as generals in the Republic army. Others, such as the Jedi Master Sora Bulq, chose to ally with Count Dooku and fight against the Republic. By the end of the Clone Wars, it seems that the Lost Twenty had been reduced to a footnote in history. [Star Wars: Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force by Ryder Windham]
Etain Tur-Mukan, a Jedi General, fell in love with a clone and later gave birth to his son:
And Etain liked clones. The only thing they all had in common was their appearance—although they were starting to age differently, she could see that now—and what the Republic had done to them. Apart from that, they were individuals with the full range of virtues and habits of random humankind, and she now felt completely at home with them. If she had a side in this war, this was the one she chose: the disenfranchised, unreasonably loyal, heartbreakingly stoic ranks of manufactured men who deserved better. [Karen Traviss. True Colors]
Besany Wennen (human, agent of the Republic Treasury Audit Division) who was also in a relationship with a clone:
Ordo was a slave by any other name, an object manufactured for a task, minus rights and a vote. Besany understood now why Etain had also had a moment of apparent insanity and had Darman’s baby. The clones had a right to be men. Their future was all the more precious because it would be so brief. “ [Karen Traviss. Order 66]
Kal Skirata, a Mandalorian who was hired to train clones in Kamino and later adopted many clones.
While Vau slept and Ordo piloted the ship, Skirata admired the haul for a while, imagining all the safehouses, escape routes, and new beginnings it could buy for clones who decided they’d completed their service to the Republic. He wasn’t encouraging desertion. He was liberating slaves.” ´[True Colors by Karen Traviss]
Jedi Padawan Bardan Jusik
So how do we justify what we are doing now? Breeding men without choice, and without freedom, to fight and die for us? When do the means cease to justify the end? Where is our society heading? Where are our ideals, and what are we without them? If we give in to expedience in this way, where do we draw the line between ourselves and those we find unacceptably evil? I have no answer, Masters. Do you? —Jedi Padawan Bardan Jusik, addressing the Jedi Council [Karen Traviss. Hard Contact]
Den Skeenah, a senator from Chandrila
We have laws on how we treat sentient species. We have laws on how we treat animals and semi-sentients. We even have laws protecting plants. But we have absolutely no laws whatsoever governing the welfare of clone troops—human beings. They have no legal status, no rights, no freedoms, and no representation. Every one of you here who accepted this army without murmur should hang your head in shame. If that’s the depths we as a Republic can sink to in the name of democracy, it hardly surprises me that the CIS wants to break away. The end can never justify means like this. —Senator Den Skeenah of Chandrila, addressing the Senate eighteen months after the Battle of Geonosis, after setting up a charitable appeal to fund the only veterans’ welfare facility in the Republic [Karen Traviss. True Colors]
The Altisian Jedi
"The excuse of 'they started it' might be fine for children, and self-defense is reasonable, but. . ." "Go on." "The army. Anyone with a scrap of honesty can see it's wrong to breed human beings and make them fight. We have no moral authority. We've already lost what we're supposed to be fighting for in this war. Even if the Republic wins." [Karen Traviss, No prisoners]

Quiobi and morning grogginess
Did you probably intend for this to be fluffy? Yes. Did I make this fluffy? Absolutely not. I am sorry.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8bb533fa0cc14977b67e279085ba0052/tumblr_inline_pr4544EwB01v1ywb3_540.jpg)
There was a time when Obi-Wan was nigh impossible to rouse from bed in the morning, while his master woke early for tea and meditation. That time was before he had been named a general of the Grand Army of the Republic. As it stood now, Obi-Wan was rubbing his eyes sadly, wishing he had the luxury of curling up next to his partner and drifting off again.
If it weren’t for the number of casualties, Obi-Wan would have thought it a miracle that his battalion had been called to Falleen. Rescuing the locals had been a bloody task, but among them they found more than one gifted child ready to be taken back to Coruscant. Those children had been in the care of a temple acquisitions team who the Republic had lost contact with months ago on New Cov.
Of course, among that acquisitions team was the man lying peacefully next to Obi-Wan. He had already shirked his duty for one night, pushing tasks onto the competent Commander Cody in order to spend the night catching up with his old master. He had actually used the phrase “catching up,” and had been met with a sarcastic wink, but also an assurance that they wouldn’t be bothered under any circumstance other than the most dire. It appeared even his clones weren’t immune to the jedi rumor mill, but he couldn’t seem to make himself care. Besides, it wasn’t as if they were wrong.
Regardless of how wonderful it had been to find Qui-Gon alive, and how peaceful it had been to once again talk with him, touch him, share a bed with him—he still had responsibilities on this ship. A trip to Coruscant would mean following the Correlian run all the way to the other side of the galaxy, a trip they could not afford to take if they were still to meet up to assist General Tur-Mukan with his most recent campaign into Bothan space. More likely, a ship would be spared and Master Jinn and the other Jedi they had rescued from Falleen would be entrusted with returning the children to the temple. If Obi-Wan was going to arrange the necessary actions, he was going to need to get up and join his officers now, but his body had decided that today was the day to reminisce over his old habit of waking up as late as he possibly could.
It didn’t help that Qui-Gon was next to him, sleeping silently and invitingly. He wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around the man’s waist, press his body flush against his back and his forehead into his shoulder, and sleep until they could wake together. Instead, he rubbed his eyes and let out a sigh. He mentally cursed everything he could find it within him to curse before rolling languidly onto his side and planting a soft kiss onto Qui-Gon’s cheek, careful not to wake him.
He forced himself to roll out of the bed, still as tired as he had been for the entire war but wishing for a respite for the first time since the throes of the war’s first standard year. Routine had allowed him to adjust, but now he wanted nothing more than for this war to be over. He wanted to be a peacekeeper again, wandering the galaxy and leaving a legacy of unity and reconciliation in his wake. Instead, he rubbed his eyes tiredly and donned his armor, feeling the last vestiges of sleep leave him as he did so, but feeling warmth and contentment flee him as well. With the last piece in place, he sent one last longing look to his peacefully sleeping master and exited the room, mentally deciding which ship he could spare for Qui-Gon to leave him on.

What's Ordo's opinion of Bardan Jusik and Etain Tur-Makin?
I’m going to write the short version of this, because I can write an extremely long post on his opinions on Jusik and Etain (Tur-Mukan).
Ordo, as I see it, tends to try to like Jusik because he feels like he should. Kal is fond of Jusik, and so Ordo feels like he owes it to Kal to try to be fond of Jusik as well. Generally, I feel like there isn’t overly much affection between the two. They are on good terms, but are not particularly close. Ordo, in Triple Zero at least, feels as though he is older than Jusik, even if the pair are the same physical age at that current moment; and this suggests to me that. at this moment, Ordo feels that Jusik is much more naive than he is. Jusik’s over-enthusiasm to be a member of the group annoys Ordo at times, even while Ordo worries that the group is taking advantage of Jusik’s need to be part of a family. Largely, Ordo doesn’t seem to have an overly strong opinion of Jusik, more interested in the unique situation that Jusik is in and more curious about Jusik’s particular life experience.
With Etain, Ordo’s relationship with her shifts over the course of the novels. It starts off rocky, because she uses a check command at which he reflexively stops doing everything—which he feels endangered his life. He is very angry about this in the moment, though later he accepts her apology and does not harbor a grudge against her for it; he still does not trust her because of this, and he struggles to be fond of her over this incident.
In time, he tries to make the attempt to like her for Darman’s sake. After a very open and sincere conversation with her on their way to Dorumaa, Ordo comes to recognize that she’s disenfranchised, in a different way, and finds empathy for her; he also finds common ground in their commitment to their families and dislike to be forced on backlines while their loved ones are in danger. As Etain says shortly after, Ordo finds a lot of patience for her in very little time on the basis of this conversation. Ordo becomes very kind to her and very fond of her—though the novels generally drops any development in their relationship. Still, it’s implied they become very close, and Ordo is the first to break down in tears for a few moments when her body is brought to Kyrimorut after her death; Fi isn’t “as surprised as he thought he would be” when he sees Ordo is the first to break.
A little more on point, Ordo initially thinks Etain to be someone who is desperate to belong to a family, and he worries that he and Kal are taking advantage of her desperation for such. He pities her for how she never has known such closeness—an opinion he has of all Jedi, actually. Similar to Jusik, he thinks her somewhat naive, though he deeply appreciates her commitment to pragmatic action over theoretical ideals. (It’s worth noting he respects this exact same quality in Jedi Master Zey, who trained both Jusik and Etain.) He comes to respect her opinion, at one time asking her assessment of Jusik and his decision to leave the Order. Later in their relationship, he appears to think she’s grown much since his initial assessments of her and considers her a capable leader who is, at the very least, trying to the best she can with the worst of circumstances.
