hiiii! could you maybe do one where the reader is nervous about spending Christmas with the triplets for the first time and also nervous because this is the first Christmas without her family but Matt helps her feel more comfortable (friends to lovers with Matt) ❤️❤️

Snow is falling, it’s pretty I won’t lie. Apart of me misses home though, don’t get me wrong being outside late at night walking with the triplets admiring the lights and snow is an amazing feeling. When every distraction is gone i’m left with this feeling of emptiness. We just got back from our walk through the neighborhood and got back to the triplets childhood home.

I moved in with the triplets a couple months ago and they had asked me to spend Christmas with their family and them and I couldn’t say no, and here I am sitting by the window of the guest room watching the snow fall and the pretty lights of other houses while the triplets are downstairs with their family. I’m left without mine. Christmas eve should be happy? Right??

Tears began to stream down my face as I look down, my breathing started to pick up and my heart was rapidly beating. My hands began to shake as I desperately gasped for air. What was I supposed to do if i’m spending christmas with someone else’s family? Are my presents enough? What if I get nothing and sit there awkwardly?

My thoughts interrupted as the door opens. I quickly look down to hide my tears.

“Hey chris and nick are downstairs, I made you hot choco- woah, woah what happened?” Matt quickly set the mug down, and rushed over to me. Kneeling before the bed to see my face as my head was still down. His hands embrace my hands and he immediately notices the tears streaming down my face.

“oh, y/n…” he gets up quickly and pulls me into a hug.

“I just- I don’t know what to do. Like i’m so nervous to spend Christmas here.” he nods and pulls me in tighter and brings my chin up with his hand so i’ll look at him.

“Y/n, we all love you here. I know it’s hard to spend Christmas away from your family but your enough for us. Here, i’ll stay with you for a little.”

He gets up and grabs my mug and his and hands mine to me, he smiles as I grab it. “extra whipped cream and sprinkles just how you like it, here get comfortable on the bed. What do you wanna watch?”

He lays next to me and covers me with the blanket, my mind raced through movies that reminded me of home as I decided on the grinch. “hm, the grinch?” I asked Matt.

“I love that movie y/n!” he smirks as I take a sip from my hot chocolate, “thank you for the hot chocolate it’s amazing Matt.” I look into his eyes.

“Anytime.” the movie turns on, my eyes glued to the screen but after some time my eyes start to feel heavy.

“Y/n…y/n..hey wake up it’s Christmas.” My eyes flutter open and is met with Matt’s face, he tucks a piece of hair behind my face. “let’s go y/n.” He rolls off the bed and stands up and opens the door for me. I put my slippers on and make my way down the stairs Matt behind me.

I sit down on the floor next to the triplets. Huge presents under the tree and mary lou holding a stocking that says my name, Matt looks at me and mouths I told you. “Oh my gosh!! thank you, I love it so much.” I smile holding the stocking, mary lou smiles.

“Let me get a picture of you and the triplets!!” she lights up pulling out her phone as I lean into Matt his hand sneaks it’s way to my hip, I look at him quickly smiling as mary lou takes a picture before i turn my head to the camera. She snaps another picture as we start to open presents. After all the presents are opened, Matt speaks up. “Wait hold on I have another present I forgot it in my room.” he gets up and walks to his room as everyone else looks confused.

I hear his footsteps behind me as mary lou’s hands fly to her mouth smiling, I look the Chris and Nick smiling. My head whips around to see Matt holding Pink and white flowers in a vase, a little note hanging from the stem of a rose. Matt sits down and hands me the flowers.

“Oh my god Matt, these are beautiful!!” My face lighting up.

“Read the note.” he smiles before glancing over to his brothers beet red.

Dear y/n, for two long years I have loved you. From the way your hair falls to the way you laugh. Everything about you drives me crazy, this Christmas I’ve been thinking about you a lot and how I’d like to make this special day even more special. I was hoping that maybe you’ll be my pretty girlfriend.

“Of course Matt.” I set the flowers down and hug him.

“This day couldn’t get any better.” he holds me.

Summary:High school was amazing, well after I met the love of my life. Or so I thought. Matt Sturniolo and I were inseparable. Until one night at a party with spin the bottle.

“Ok, alright y/n Marry kiss or kill Aubrey Sarah and Jake?” Talia was a fire party thrower so when we were all invited to play kiss marry kill in her living room of course we said yes. “Ok Sarah I’m sorry but kill, marry Aubrey, kiss Jake”

Aubrey had been my best friend since third grade. We met on the softball field after I hit her in the head with my bat, she didn’t let me say sorry but she invited me over for a sleepover. It’s tenth grade and we’re still best friends. Her mom thinks of me as her other daughter, since my own mother isn’t around anymore.

I hated Sarah. We never got along, hence why in another life I would’ve killed her if necessary. Me and Sarah also met during softball. But I had thrown the ball at her stomach causing her to throw up and have to get her stomach pumped. She didn’t invite me for a sleepover.

Talia’s my other best friend, we met in sixth grade. Since then we’ve gone to everywhere with Aubrey and us. We’re the best trio you’ll find. Talia and Aubrey never liked each other but in sixth grade I forced them to my birthday party at sky zone and we’ve been inseparable since.

“Y/n your turn again. Alright kiss marry kill, Matt Chris and nick?” This was easy, well sorta. “Kiss Chris, marry Matt, kill Nick” Nick Matt and Chris were my other friends, we weren’t super close but we’ve known each other since eighth grade.

Me and Matt however have been ‘dating’ since sixth grade. We met on the playground playing hopscotch. My skirt was too short and I got a dress code but Matt said he had extra shorts and since then we’ve been attached to the hip. We didn’t start dating until the end of seventh. He convinced me to go the park and play hopscotch again. And when I fell he helped me clean my knee and told me he loved me. Not as romantic as the movies but I’ve been in love ever since.

Back to the party after a few hours of marry kiss or kill people got bored and left. Now it was just Sarah Aubrey, Me, Matt, and Talia. We were all sleeping over. But Matt had to stay for an extra few minutes since Mary Lou was busy. “Let’s play spin the bottle!” Aubrey shouted waking us from a trance of our minds as we were all sitting watching SpongeBob.

“Oh my gosh yes!” I yell getting an empty beer bottle from the trash can, putting it in the middle of the group. “Y/n that’s gross,” Sarah said curbing next to Matt who had scooted closer to me. “Shut up Sarah,” I said calmly before doing the glass green bottle.

After a few minutes of everyone kissing everyone. Matt had to go. I hated this part, he’s my boyfriend he shouldn’t do this. “Matt what will do if it’s not me?” I ask quietly as the other girls chat. “I’ll air kiss the cheek babe don’t worry” He smiles kissing my pink lip gloss lips reassuringly.

“Can you spin, like today?” Sarah spoke coldly. “Oh my god Sarah patience!” I said annoyance oozing from my tone. As Matt spun the bottle he groped my hand watching the bottle slow and slow right before it came to a halt.

description-a few months after rejecting matt’s proposal, y/n writes a song about how she felt

you walked in the door with him, the cold air hitting your face. you could smell the turkey, and all the other foods matt’s parents had been making.

“come in, come in.” mary lou said, ushering you and matt inside.

“madi! nate! i didn’t know you guys were coming.” you said giving them each a quick hug.

“yeah, we’d be insane to miss this.” nate said sharing a glance with madi.

“yeah thanksgivings with marylou are the best!” you said, oblivious to their hidden meaning.

you ate together, until you swore you could burst. you had some of the cookies nate’s mom made, and the brownies you and matt had made. it was mostly you of course, matt started yelling at nick about something two seconds in.

“y/n these are really good!” madi said, causing matt to look over in disbelief.

“hey i helped too!” matt said and you both gave him a look.

you noticed matt seemed anxious, something he never was around his closest friends and family. he would take a deep breath on occasion, fiddling with his hands.

at the end of dinner you excused yourself to go to the bathroom, feeling queasy after everything you’d eaten.

you heard the quiet chatter, and wondered why they were whispering. you walked quietly out into the hallway, but the door closing behind you gave you away.

“it’s time matty.” chris said as you walked in, patting his brothers back.

“y/n.” he said, taking a step towards you. “look, i’ve known you since middle school. you’ve been by my side through a ton of shit. and i’ve been by yours. we’ve gone through our weird phases, and we almost lost each other a few times. but here’s the thing, i never want to lose you. and i hope i never do. i want to be with you for the rest of my life. so, y/n will you-”

you didn’t hear the rest of his speech, as the world went quiet around you. everything seemed to move in slow motion, you watched as he got down on one knee.

you felt your breath catch in your throat as he opened the small black box and there sat a diamond ring. you could see something engraved on the side, but weren’t close enough to see what it is.

“matt.” you whispered, tears in your eyes.

you could see the admiring smiles from your friends and family. and it was now that you noticed that your mom and dad were there, smiling.

“y/n?” matt said, still waiting for an answer. “y/n say something.”

“no.” you said, your voice sounding braver than you actually were.

“what?” he said, seemingly falling apart right before you.

“i cant.” you said quietly, your voice breaking.

“no, y/n. we’ve talked about this.” he said, moving from one knee, down to two.

you shook your head, unable to say anything.

“no please y/n, we’re meant to be, i know we are.” he said, pleading with you. he took your hand in his, and that was the moment you took a step back and walked away from him.

you took a couple more steps back, looking at the horror and sympathy on their faces. you turned around and walked towards the front door. you ran quickly down the porch steps.

“y/n, wait!” a voice said, and there was marylou. you didn’t want to have to face her right now.

“matt wanted you to have this.” she said, handing you the ring. you looked down and the ring had m+(your first initial)

and at that you broke, knowing it was best for you to walk away, but wishing you didn’t have to. mary lou hugged you right in her arms, whispering how it would all be okay.

and she was right in some ways, you were better now. over a year had passed, and while you still couldn’t sleep, you were able to say his name without breaking down.

“so, boston, i am happy to say that this is the first stop on my very first tour,” you said, causing the fans to scream.

“and i have never ever played this song live before, so i am happy to take you with me, back to where it all started.” you said, and your fingers began to play the first notes.

you knew this song by heart by now, as you played the first verse. it took you back to the moments you and him had, and how by choosing to walk away you lost everything.

you looked around the crowd, a smile on your face. then you looked towards the middle, directly in front of you. matt’s perfect seat, in his opinion.

and there he was, with nick and chris by his side. madi and nate ok the other side of chris. you weren’t surprised they were here, but matt? that surprised you.

you were sure he knew that this song was about him, but why would he come? especially after all you did?

this kind of question is hard for me, personally, to think about because of my own relationship with music and music artists (which is why this took so fucking long) which is to say I love music and don't really pay attention much to artists beyond the fact they make the music I love (lmao I really don't care about celebrities, I find it quite concerning that so many people idolise them so much... like your(general) fave is just a guy at the end of the day lmao) (that being said I can understand having an influence and following the *work* of an artist you really connect to) and I find it hard to make hard line distinctions between genres, aha 🤭

That being said, let's have a look at some music! (This is an excuse to show off my extensive and exhaustive music reach and taste, so thank you!)

Dylan──they're open to all types of music but they only really purchase R&B albums! Artists like Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Prince, Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean, SZA, Kehlani and Miguel are all artists Dyl owns albums (and vinyls!!) for! Dyl introduced Kin to R&B and they usually listen to the artists she likes more when they're together (Beyoncé, Victoria Monét, Lionel Ritchie etc) They like ‘Foreign Language’ R&B too, artists like BIBI, DEAN, Cherrie, Girl Ultra, Adi Oasis, ØZI, Yseult and Lous And The Yakuza.

Shay──the real eclectic listener! He likes next to every genre of music, Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, K-pop, J-rock, Folk, Funk, Phonk, EDM, Heavy Metal, Grunge, House, Synth, Soul... even Country... Country Fusion! Shay likes artists that kind of... don't have a genre? Like Sleep Token, Twenty One Pilots, Pink Floyd, Oingo Boingo, Lene Lovich, David Bowie, Gorillaz, Poppy, Bring Me The Horizon, Afterlife, Seventeen, Red Velvet and Hannah Wicklund. He definitely love finding new music as well as sharing new music! (Watch the YouTube/Twitch channel that's got a segment dedicated to reacting to new music!! Like HTHAZE!)

Kinsley──lmao she doesn't mind Popular music but, like, the last Taylor Swift album she actively sought out was 1989 (she's partial to This Love) and Kin would rather die than be subjected to Trap music. She's very into genres like Alternative Indie, Indie Rock, Neo Soul, and R&B artists like Hozier, Florence + The Machine, Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, Searows, Reneé Rapp, Ethel Cain and Noah Kahan. Her R&B influence is mainly from being Dylan's friend but she does love artists like Beyoncé (she really loved her self titled album and especially Virgo's Groove off of Renaissance), Victoria Monét (particularly the Jaguar II album) and Khalid as well as older artists like Mary J. Blige, Marvin Gaye or Lionel Ritchie!

J──they tend to listen to music for the beat, the bass, the instrumentals more than lyrics. They like heavier genres like Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative Rock, Punk Rock, Nu Metal, Grunge and other genres like EDM, Synth, Techno and Trance. They also listen to Italian artists quite a lot, mainly because J wants to keep up with the language (because their father refuses to speak it or teach them) so artists like Måneskin, Jovanotti, Lacuna Coil, Max Gazzé, Vanerus, and even Vivaldi. J also listens to anything their sister recommends them, even if it's the most bubblegum pink pop shit they've ever heard─if Bells likes it they're listening. Shay will also introduce them to the wonders of J-rock and K-pop which bend genre all the time!

Theo──a Pop lover! Or rather, Theo tends to stick to listening to the radio or the Popular Playlist on Spotify! They tend to like more instrumental artists like or soundtrack artists like Hans Zimmer, Hiroyuki Sawano, Danny Elfman, Vangelis, Rachel Portman (who was the first female composer to win an academy award for best original score!) and Michael Giacchino over anything else and they 'broaden their horizons' by being dragged to Jazz bars and open house cafés by C (and MC) so it's not like they're stuck in one/two genre's!!
