Okay, part two. Let's go girls, gays and theys, Papa Polarity ain't saved yet.
[Part 1] [Part3]
Lily Commits Elder Gay Mutant Abuse, feat. "Eldritch Lily" (Part 2)
Everything gets worse . . .
4:13: Lily mischaracterizes Charles Xavier, throws up a Martin Luthor King quote she either doesn't understand or didn't read carefully enough, going full whyte. (Never go full whyte.)

How much do I need to dignify this by explaining why this is fucking asinine? Charles is a pacifist for the most part. A recognized and respected form of activism and protest. Like, the least charitable interpretation of what Lily's trying to say here is that figures like Gahndi, Abbie Hoffman, and dear old MLK himself are posers complicit in the oppression two of them lost their fucking life to.
That quote is referring to white people passively complicit in racism that just want black people to shut the fuck up Lily-- not passive forms of activism.
You know, it's one thing to be profoundly fucking wrong about cartoons, it's an entirely different beast when you're profoundly wrong about shit like this. Absolutely fucking ghoulish.
It feels weird pivoting back to the costumed vigilantes with funky genes, but we gotta keep going. Ironically for how much Lily is focusing on the movies here-- one of my issues with the way Charles is portrayed is he keeps casually threatening people/doing shady shit and getting away with it. Makes you question why it's framed as okay when he does it and not when it's Erik. Charles isn't a saint, he shouldn't be portrayed as one, and there's a lot of thematic dissonance when the films feel the need to lampshade the shit he gets up to less he lose the moral high ground.
4:50: OH HERE WE GO.

5:00: Lily goes on a long rant about the "activists who GO TOO FAR" trope in media.
I technically agree with her, but I can tell by the examples she's giving that she's parroting things Hbomberguy said in his RWBY video, just in a less charitable tone. So, really I agree with Hbomberguy.
She's not wrong that the BoM and Magneto sometimes wanders into this territory (I mean, they were originally 'The Brotherhood of Evil Mutant' and all that) unfortunately, but she hasn't supported that position at all. I have to assume she's heard this brought up somewhere else, this isn't exactly a unique take by any means. I doubt she's actually familiar enough with the content to create an original cohesive argument.
Lily doesn't like moral ambiguity in her media. That would be fine if she wasn't this butthurt that other people feel very differently.
6:05: "And yes, you knew we were getting to it! [ . . .] Almost all of Legend of Korras main villians start at a good through line. But then some twist comes up that makes everything they said before completely pointless."

THESE TWO, "START AT A GOOD THROUGH LINE!?"

LILLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
6:15: "Season one's Amon is a socialist activist who cares about the oppression of non-benders by benders-- until it turns out that he doesn't."
I know this is a popular interpretation of the equalitists, especially given that their name is 'the equalists,' but actually the show never gives us enough information about the sociopolitical dynamics of benders and non-benders to say for sure. I'm not going to get into it here, if you want my full breakdown and analysis on the social politics of Avatar, let me know. In summary, it's tempting to assume benders would be the dominant class as they have literal powers, but that's not really how systemic power works. There's conflicting inference on what the dynamics are, and it may be different depending on the nation. The equalists are schrodinger's activists. They could be the Black Panthers, they could be the Proud Boys. That is not me making a false equivalency between those two groups, it's just never established if their perceived systemic persecution is real or imagined.
This isn't really a criticism of Lily. That it is so ambiguous is a flaw in the show. The interpretation Amon is supposed to be a socialist is as valid as any. Well. . . It's an extremely reductive interpretation of a socialist, and I know Lily doesn't know what a socialist actually is, but I'm trying to be charitable when possible here.
I do LIKE Korra myself, to be clear. But, yeah. There's problems.
6:31: "Season four's Kuvira wants to stitch the Earth Kingdom back together but doesn't want to restore an oppressive monarchy like everyone else does. And then declares that she is the dictator of the Earth Kingdom."
Yeah, that is just a thing that has happened in history, Lily. When there's a power vacuum left by a sudden or violent upheaval of a tyrant, unfortunately often another tyrant at least attempts to take their place. This is one of the reasons why former colonies struggle to cultivate stability-- societies and communities can get fucked in the ass by this kind of shit. This isn't a pro-monarchy message Lily-- consider maybe trying to learn things now and again.
This is why people call you a fake leftist Lily. Doing (relatively) minor gestures of good will like handing out food for a short period then pulling the rug out from under the people once they're complicit is right out of the facist playbook. You are virtually doing the exact thing you accused Rebecca Sugar of, but for real.
You're being outfoxed by a kid's show again.
6:44: "Season two's Unalaq [you get the idea.]"
Lily is pro gentrification until you involve demon kites I guess. I'm confused why she thinks he ever had any good intentions, it's telegraphed immediately he's a bad dude. He's also by far the worst villain-- as in, the worst written.
7:10: "All of them go 'the status quo is bad therefore commence genocide' like they got their political theory from fucking Vaush."
By your line of thinking so did Firelord Sozin:
youtube
"I had my own vision for a brighter future . . ."
I don't like Vaush either, but-- this isn't even the pot calling the kettle black. This is the blackened grime on the pot calling the kettle black.
GOD THIS VIDEO IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT MAGNETO. WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT KORRA FOR ALMOST THIS WHOLE POST.
7:19: "The entire show you're watching Korra become a stooge for the status quo every single time. 'The problem isn't that the system is bad, it's that the wrong people are in charge.' And then they inevitably change the status like bringing democracy to the Earth Kingdom and you're left wondering-- wait, why wasn't the other person doing this!?"
I did not edit those two statements together. That is, in fact, Lily pointing out why her own arguments are stupid in the very next breath. Thanks for saving me the effort, I guess.
7:45: "Why weren't the characters you set up to do these things . . . Doing the things?!"
Because they weren't set up to do these things Lily. They're the antagonists. They ideologically were designed to be foils for Korra to overcome.
Korra's political messages aren't even that deep, and yet you're this incapable from telling even obvious totalitarian right-wing ideology and mild liberalism apart.
8:10: "It's so nakedly obvious how protective of the status quo these stories are."
This is, in a very abstract way, a valid criticism of Korra. This is a common problem in a lot of media, and Korra is far from the worst offender. I think it does breach past this to some extent, just not as much as I would have personally liked with all its seasons.
But make no mistake this is Lily again, taking something Lily has seen someone else say and putting that opinion through a blender.
Let's not beat around the bush here, Lily just wanted to bitch about Korra again. It's almost like she thinks if she repeats her idiotic media analysis enough, maybe THIS time people will realize how brilliant she is.
8:27: "A victim of abuse, torture or r@pe trying to kill her [only 'her,' huh?] abuser in vengeance is right to do so."
Okay, that's enough of this for now. Part 3 coming soon.

The so-called double standard
You know in The Witcher fandom the "We aren't homophobic, we just..." crowd has sure been pretty vocal about Jaskier now being bisexual. Not about Radovid being the love interest. But just about Jaskier.
The most recent "intelligent" reply I got is "You guys would complain if an LGBTQ+ character was made straight. This is a double standard."
No, it's not. Until the 1970s you couldn't openly even say a character was homosexual on TV in the US. Bruce Baanner's name was changed to David in The Incredible Hulk TV series because someone thought Bruce sounded "too homosexual." In the 1960s Dark Shadows they were not allowed to show the vampire Barnabas Collins biting any man on the throat, only women. That's why when he first bites Willie Loomis it's on his arm. You couldn't see gay characters kiss or even hug on TV until the 1990s. And even then there were warnings before the episodes that showed the gay characters such as on Buffy The Vampire Slayer when Willow was revealed to not be straight. So yeah. Yeah, I would complain if an LGBTQ+ character is made straight. It's actually already happened MANY times. Henry Fitzroy in Blood Ties (2007 TV series) comes to mind. But No, I will NOT complain if a straight character is now portrayed as bisexual. There IS a difference. If you can't comprehend the difference, you are unworthy of conversation. To me this is like the people who insist that having a black Little Mermaid is like having a White Martin Luthor King Jr. Ariel isn't real. She's a fish-woman and she can have any skin color the writers want her to have. She can be blue for all I care.

the madoka misogyny hydra post made me wonder how many m/m touhou project fics there were. good news: it's only 33 out of 3474 and those are mostly crossovers
bad news: one of them includes martin luthor king jr/malcolm x as a ship
Question 1: are there literally any men in touhou or are all 33 of those involving characters that aren’t originally touhous?
Question 2: ???????

Unbeknownest to Her Grace [Alicent], the seven captains commanding the gates, chosen for their loyalty to King Aegon, had been imprisoned or murdered the moment Caraxes appeared in the sky above the Red Keep … for the rank and file of the City Watch still loved Daemon Targaryen, who had commanded them of old. The queen’s brother Ser Gwayne Hightower, second in command of the gold cloaks, rushed to the stables intending to sound the warning; he was seized, disarmed, and dragged before his commander, Luthor Largent. When Hightower denounced him as a turncloak, Ser Luthor laughed. “Daemon gave us these cloaks,” he said, “and they’re gold no matter how you turn them.” Then he drove his sword through Ser Gwayne’s belly and ordered the city gates opened to the men pouring off the Sea Snake’s ships.

Silly Game Time: What is the current (or what was the most recent) thing to really capture your interest? (For me, it's the 2017 space horror game "Prey".)
those that know me know that I'm never off my Stardew Valley bullshit, also I'm getting back on the Dragon Age train with the release of the DA4 gameplay trailer. And this past weekend I've binged watched Manhunt on Apple TV, which is an adaption of a book (same name) that focus's on the hunt for James Wilkes Booth post-assassination of President Lincoln and was required reading in both middle schools that I used to work in.
(he also did books on the JFK & Martin Luthor King Jr assassinations. I've read the JFK one but not the other yet)
Highly recommend the book & show if you don't know much about the aftermath of the hunt for Booth or want to see Patton Oswolt with a magnificent beard & in a Union Army uniform.

Azure's Corner
My, it's been awhile...
Well, welcome around kids. It's time to listen to me complain about something. It's not really a complaint but an observation that dawned on me just now.
Speaking of the Woke anti-white stance that liberals take, haven't you noticed that while they promote racial hatred of skin colors (White, Asian, White-looking people in general of any culture or phenotype), they always portray mixed marriages?
Let's look at the fact that describing someone based on their skin color isn't racist. Hating someone for their skin color is bigotry. Racism doesn't exist because races do not exist. You have phenotypes because everyone is of one race on this planet: Human. Well, excluding the various aliens that live here amongst you and the ancient Silurian who evolved from Velociraptors, but that's something else entirely. Those are Species.
In woke culture, the focus is on the past: How things were back in the 1600s. Yes, really. They have the notion that...
youtube
Then, they point to all sorts of historical references between then and the 1960s. They go on to state that nothing changed. They point to institutionalized racism, which doesn't exist. They completely ignore the outcomes of those historical events and the changes that took place as a result.
And they continue to drumbeat that White people are the devil. Pure evil. Always this and always that. That reverse racism doesn't exist while exclaiming that anyone who isn't the darkest shade of black is White and somehow part of this cabal of hidden knowledge, raised from childhood to be some kind of sleeper racist. What's funnier, is that they ALWAYS have some white person partnered with a black person. That white person is the one proclaiming how vile they are and yet supportive of their black partner.
If that isn't tokenization, I don't know what is.
I mean, look at the background and count the number of white people in this image:
Malcom X was very clear on the matter:
He was not a proponent of doing to White people what Black people were having done to them. Recapturing heritage and identity was meant as looking to a culture in America, remembering where one came from, and the identity spoken of is of a place in society. Not meant to segregate, it was meant to unify.
"I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I'm a human being, first and foremost, and as such I'm for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole." - Malcolm X
Dr. Martin Luthor King Jr. was also very clear on the matter:
Recentering on the topic here, if the hatred of whites is so profound, then why are so many people involved in the support of anti-white wokeness, white? Furthermore, if the hatred is of white colors then why is the argument always that Asians "might as well be white" and yet they support biracial marriages, where children will have skin that is clearly going to be lighter in color?
I'm a big proponent of mixed marriages! If everyone fucked each other, there'd be more love and less hate in the world! There'd be people of all different kinds and promote evolution as each phenotype's genetics enhance each other. There'd be less focus on "racial identity" and more on self. Even interspecies relationships are prized! Get some alien and Saurian DNA into that family line!
Enough with the focus on hatred and promoting it as justice. Hatred is not justice. Violence is not justice. Anger is not love.
The reality is that tolerance is the key. Understanding and educating is paramount. Looking around outside is healthy.
I'm not going to say that there isn't bigotry. There is. There is hatred. You cannot fight hate with hate. It only leads to violence.
Even as an Alien myself, because the form I chose to take amongst your Humans is of a petite mixed Asian-European, I experience more "racial" bigotry now than I did twenty or even a hundred years ago. Could I shapeshift into someone else? Sure. Why should I?
I chose my form, not because of any "benefits" to having light skin and an Asianic appearance mixed with some Eurotrash sex appeal, but because it is a representation of myself in my mind. It's easier to hold a form if it's representation is of who you are inside. That's the key to shapeshifting. Don't try to be something you're not, because the effort involved in maintaining every nuance is energy expensive.
Could I look like Joe Biden or Jessica Alba? Absolutely. Would it be perfect? Not completely, because I'm not either of them. It would take keeping a perfect image of them in my mind at all times to match them and I could only hold it for as long as I can hold that image in my mind. But relaxed, just being me, I can return to this form I selected at any time, every time.
And that's probably the takeaway here. You are you. Be who you are, not your skin color or what you claim as your identity. It doesn't matter if you're blue, green, black, white, have red or purple eyes, antennae, and it doesn't matter whether you're male or female, gay, straight, bi, or whatever... You're you. Love whomever you want. Love someone even if they hate you.
No one else cares what you call yourself or identify as except you. You can't force anyone to accept you, but you can completely not be a dick about it.
So go out, mingle. Get to know other people. Disagree with them. Agree with them. Whatever, but be civil and better than the ignorant. Self-educate yourself. Experience the world for how it really is by going outside.
You'll find that what the media is pushing is not what is really out there in the world. There is no such thing as institutionalized anything. There's no bajillion genders. There's just people who are all looking for the same thing: Love and peace.
And for those people who are looking for hate and violence:
You're the problem.

Ohhhh this was Duke? Granted, I read this when I didn’t know Duke’s character. Huh…

Ah… I… haven’t constructed the post about We Are Robin and guns yet, but there is absolutely no chance Duke would ever ever wield a gun. Like, no shot.

Duke would never ever ever believe in being “one of the good cops” btw 😂 Like, seriously. 😐 “He’s willing to fight the type of politics you and I will never understand.” That’s such a bullshit line for Duke of all people to say.
Why did we bring up Afghanistan btw? *Google searches* OH. Didn’t I just go over this with Frank Miller??? 9/11? Again? Oof

Hating Batman more than cops? First of all, still not true. He can hate Batman all he wants, it’s still gonna be below cops.

That’s- oof. They did not just go there 💀 Nahhhhh this some fucking white savior bullshit. Like, I’m fine with white allies, but what makes them an ally is by making them equal to us. White savior shit is doing this!!! 👆 Bringing them up!!! Making them seem important!!! For helping us!!! The narrative can’t save itself by saying “white savior” just so I or anyone else can’t call it out, because that’s what it is!!!
I’ve read this comic already, they certainly don’t care to show us the city or the citizens, Napier can’t be one of them because i don’t know who “them” are. Biggest problem yet. You can’t make them equal if you don’t share screentime.

AHCK THERE WAS ANOTHER PANEL WHAT IS THIS 😱 oh wait this is the beginning of the chapter OH NOES THERE’S MORE

OH HELL NO NO NO NO. A “peaceful protest” ?!?? A PEACEFUL PROTEST!?!?!?!! IT’S ALWAYS WHITE PEOPLE AND THEIR FUCKING PEACEFUL PROTESTS- it’s always another peaceful protest ob my goshhhhhh learn something new that isn’t Martin Luthor King jr. 🙄

Duke in peaceful protests huh? Really? Are you sure about that? 👀 Of all people, Duke? Okay. If you say so 🤷🏻

This panel makes be want to explode 💥🤯 Working with a cop, and it’s BULLOCK
(Skips all the plot where Napier manipulated everybody)

Okay that’s your one saving face, good point you finally didn’t go back on. (I hope, I’m not reading all that just to find out he backtracked AGAIN).

I hate this soooooooooooo much (why Harley why Harley of all people is more epic than anyone else) but okay. All this for one library? I mean, great, good, whatever. I was expecting way more for… well the Martin Luther King jr. allegory. I hope y’all at least remember the one thing you learned since he did way more than that.
Edit:

DAMMIT- HE DID BACKTRACK

Also, this is a minor nitpick, but I cannot believe that Professor X of all people is actually arguing, "Well, maybe The Goddess is doing a good thing!"
Leans in...
No, Charles! No, she wasn't! I know your whole schtick is that you're a Martin Luthor King Jr. expy and so you'd rather things be peaceful, but you're a telepath with limited mind-control abilities. You should know some woman brainwashing your friends into being her loyal subjects and making villains docile (without their consent) is a bad thing!
This is like arguing, "Well maybe Doctor Doom did a good thing when he kidnapped The Purple Man and turned his mind-control powers into a frequency that he used to brainwash the world and made himself Earth's Emperor! He was doing things to improve humanity!". Yeah! And he still kidnapped a man and brainwashed the entire world into being his slaves! Zebadiah Killgrave might be a monster! But he still has rights!
