Alya: Alright, girls, I can literally hear Marinette's dad on his way to bang on the door, so it's bed time. Everyone double up. Marinette, you're mine, and you owe me at least fifty kisses for trying to sneak Adrien into our party! *grabs Marinette and pulls her toward the one actual bed before any of the others claim it*

Marinette: Oh no help. *squeals and giggles as Alya tackles her*

Rose: Sorry, Marinette, you're on you own! *is grabbed by Juleka and pulled towards the chaise lounge*

*Sabrina looks uncertainly towards Zoe, who is busy unrolling a sleeping bag and thus has not yet noticed her*

Mylene: Sabrina, you want to double up? It'll be like the old days where I stayed at your place while my dad was doing all-night rehearsals with... well, you know who it was.

Sabrina: ... You remember that?

DREAMWORKS TROLLS: SUPER UNPOPULAR AND CONTROVERSIAL OPINION!!!

DreamWorks Trolls Opinion #1:

Branch's dynamic with Cloud Guy could have been great, if not for how they severely mishandled it for the sake of making Branch the punchline in the show.

Now hear me out!

Cloud Guy is an absolute menace to Branch who loves to prank and humiliate him, but in the end somehow makes Branch overcome something. This is putting a very toxic relationship on screen and making it seem like it's fine when it 100% is not. Now, I've never been a fan of Cloud Guy, but I do know the turning point of where Cloud Guy went from being a character that mildly annoyed me to a character I genuinely hate, and that was Apple Of My Ire. To understand this, let me give you a rundown of my feelings every time Cloud Guy is in an episode.

Laugh Out Cloud: This wasn't too terrible, seeing as how Branch was sort of intense in that episode, but that whole flood thing was really unnecessary.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Hugs: This was just funny. Only thing was Keith in the end. I love Keith, but Branch worked really hard, and Cloud Guy may have been the most annoying wingman ever, but he still got the job done. Although, he really needs to not break into Branch's house and respect his personal space.

Rainbowmageddon: This was just Cloud Guy unnecessarily humiliating and undermining Branch, but honestly I'm more upset with the Trolls because THEY'RE the ones the rainbow is affecting the most, and they're the ones who aren't taking anything seriously. Also, they were fine with just leaving Branch up there? Laugh Out Cloud was fine because I do think Branch was way too uptight about the drought, but here he was rightfully worried about the rainbow, and Cloud Guy and the gang were just goofing off. What's worst was the whole deathbed confession that proved unnecessary. In Laugh Out Cloud, it wasn't exactly a deathbed confession (and it would have been way better if Cloud Guy wasn't faking being scared) and Branch really didn't suffer all that much over it. But here, that was just mean. But honestly, it was the Trolls (Snack Pack in particular) that were the most frustrating.

Two's A Cloud: Now, this episode had potential. It was SUPREMELY irritating when Cloud Guy just moved in. It was also equally horrible when he was being an inconsiderate roommate, purposeful or not IDK but IDC. But them working together to get Cloud Guy's parents to leave was great. And even if Cloud Guy decided to ultimately not move in the bunker, it was still a pretty sweet episode. The Trolls just randomly bursting in his home, though, was awful.

Apple Of My Ire: This episode had me just screaming, and not in the good way. I don't know what in the world Poppy was thinking in finding someone new for Cloud Guy to harass, when she should’ve talked to him about reevaluating and changing their dynamic into something better. You know, something more healthy, or borderline brotherly. Because Branch is so little brother coded, and Cloud Guy honestly seems like a guy who would definitely mess with his siblings out of love. Not to mention, the last time they interacted was to team up to fend off Cloud Guy's parents. That's basically a brotherhood right there! But no. This episode ruined it. Because Branch was emotionally growing, and Cloud Guy pulled him right back to his old ways. And Poppy did NOTHING!!! What's worse is that the other Trolls were also in on this! Like why??? Do Trolls not understand harassment? They have a holiday dedicated to pranking one another, but constantly being bombarded by pranks seems like that would be terrible. Like, in Prank Day, POPPY was getting fed up with the pranks. And sure, she may have planned the prank she pulled on Branch, but she really wasn't taking being pranked constantly well, so why would she be okay subjecting anyone else to that treatment on a day that isn't a day dedicated to pranks? Better yet, if she cared so much about finding Cloud Guy a troll he could annoy, why didn't she volunteer herself? There have been multiple instances where Poppy has proven to be just as temperamental and easy to annoy as Branch, so why couldn't she be that Troll? She already had some practice when she was trying to help DJ with wrangling CJ's wooferbug. But what really took the cake was when Cloud Guy just openly admitted to planting a tracker INSIDE Branch, and no one did anything. Also, was that bit really necessary? When has Cloud Guy ever had to use the tracker? Rainbowmageddon aside, he always first interacts with Branch near or in his bunker. This episode turned their dynamic from frienemies-that-can-be-potential-brothers who annoy each other, to outright bully-victim where the victim gets shamed constantly for defending themselves. This episode made me hate Cloud Guy, and gave me such an ick, I can't even watch any of the previous episodes with Cloud Guy in them without feeling rage.

I have not seen Trollstopia. I do not have access to it. But I have seen people discuss the show online. More specifically, they discuss the episode Cloud Control. And what they discuss... I thought Apple Of My Ire was bad, this episode was infinitely worse, and I haven't even seen it yet.

The takeaway here is Branch's and Cloud Guy's dynamic had so much potential, but then Apple Of My Ire came along and every episode with Cloud Guy after that just cemented Cloud Guy as an antagonistic bully who gets away with it due to victim blaming and finding ways to make it seem that he was "helping" his victims all along, as well as a large dose of full on guilt tripping.

It all comes down to DreamWorks and their love of making Branch the punchline to everything. Even his trauma isn't taken seriously, as evidenced by Trolls: Band Together. Branch deserves better. Cloud Guy's character arc was brutally murdered so I guess he deserves better, too. Poppy and the Trolls need more character development and a crash course in healthy character dynamics. And DreamWorks needs to stop making Branch needlessly suffer for the sake of a joke.

My Contribution to April Fool's 2024

Honestly, this came into my head like five minutes ago but I felt I had to share. A crack fic where Lila walks inside the classroom on April 1rst, and sadly announces that her mother was transfered back to Italy and she's leaving France forever. She does it with big, teary eyes, a sad smile, the whole shabang. Naturally, the class throws a last minute farewell party for her. Adrien collapses against the wall from relief, Nino thinks he's sad to see her go, and Marinette decides to draw Lila a whole sketch of the class waving goodbye to her, smiling brightly all the while. How nice of their class president!

Unfortunately...at the tail end of the last period, the door is slammed open, and in strides Lila, with her characteristic "Hi everyone!". Adrien reflexively hisses at her, and Marinette slams her head on the desk hard enough to dent the wood. I- I have no idea how this occured to me, but this scene refused to leave me alone till I wrote abt it. So here you go! It's much funnier if you visualize it, I promise!

Chapter 18: Capturing the Traitors

(At Avalon Park, Tikki grows disturbed.)

TIKKI: Marinette! I felt a negative aura. Adrien’s in danger!

MARINETTE: Wait. I didn’t tell my new friends about the news! They’re probably after Adrien again! No time to lose!

(She takes out the flight magicaroon and feeds it to Tikki.)

MARINETTE: Power up!

(Tikki’s wings and antennae turn blue.)

TIKKI: Space Tikki!

MARINETTE: Spots on!

(She transforms into Cosmo-Bug and flies off. At the mob circle, several of Zeta’s eagle soldiers drop campfire logs. Frank nervously lights a match and sets them on fire.)

LUNA-TK: This will teach you not to betray the people you pretend to care about!

ADRIEN: Wait. I can get Marinette on the line!

(Adrien attempts to call Marinette.)

MARINETTE’S VOICEMAIL: It’s Marinette. Leave a message. Beep! He-he!

(He looks up nervously.)

SAM: Rope them!

MABEL: Cage them!

(The mob closes in.)

ADRIEN: Marinette, I don’t know if you can hear me, but you forgot to tell your new friends about Lila, and they sentenced us to death.

(Flying over Eight at East Apartments, Cosmo-Bug eyes her yo-yo and locates Adrien.)

LADYBUG: Florida Mall parking lot. Hang on, Adrien.

(Meanwhile, the Minions toss a huge net over the group. Standing on the cage, the Trolls wrap their hair, Growly Pete his mustache, around the group’s wrists, ankles, and necks, then the Minions start to drag them backward with the net’s ropes.)

ADRIEN: You need to answer eventually, or we’ll all be destroyed!

(A long way down the highway, Cosmo-Bug flies past the Arepa Station. The humidity starts to make her sweat and run out of breath. Fighting against the restraints, Adrien tries to call Marinette again. The Wolf pups and assist by scratching and snapping them.)

ADRIEN: Come on.

MARINETTE’S VOICEMAIL: It’s Marinette. Leave a message. Beep! He-he!

ADRIEN: Come on, Marinette. Answer.

(The Minions and Trolls continue to drag the group toward the cage.)

ADRIEN: (STRAINING) I’ll never give in!

(The group shoots forward, tripping the Minions, but it doesn’t last long as they quickly regain control of the ropes.)

ADRIEN: What could you possibly be doing that you can’t pick up right now?

(Cosmo-Bug now huffs and puffs past Orlando International Airport.)

LADYBUG: I… can’t… stop. No… matter… what.

(The group continues trying and failing to resist their restraints.)

(At the back, Tom squeezes Henry the Minion against the rear of the cage. As the Trolls attempt to close it, the door bonks Adrien’s head.)

ADRIEN: Hey, there’s a limit.

(Meanwhile, Cosmo-Bug stops and struggles to catch her breath.)

COSMO-BUG: (DEHYDRATED) Okay. I need to get a water for the road.

(Meanwhile, the caged captives suffer abuse from the Crossover Characters. The Wolf Pups poke at them with spears. The Minions strangle them through the narrow openings. The Royal Woods and Great Lakes City students electrocute them with tasers.)

(Cosmo-Bug stops at a 7-Eleven off the airport highway exit and de-transforms. Now as Marinette, she goes to the fridges in the back and picks out a 20-ounce Aquafina bottle. At the front, she attempts to swipe her card at the pin pad, but it reads, “NOT ACCEPTED”.)

MARINETTE: Come on.

(She tries more times, faster, then slower, but still gets the same result each time.)

MARINETTE: Fine. I’ll pay with cash.

(She passes the cashier five dollars. Later, she leaves and continues flying. Meanwhile, Adrien struggles to make another attempt at escaping, but is yanked backwards by the Minions. The Trolls manage to lower the cage opening, then Terence and Brick hold it closed.)

(Walking over, Luna-TK receives the lucky charm from Branch, who had dug into Adrien’s bag, then walks away.)

ADRIEN: You’re making a mistake.

LUNA-TK: Who’s ready to watch the traitors perish?

(Everyone cheers. Meanwhile, a rehydrated Cosmo-Bug flies over Oceaneering Entertainment Systems. She hears the commotion in the Florida Mall parking lot ahead. In the cage, Adrien watches helplessly as Luna-TK puts her hand over the strengthening campfire.)

ADRIEN: No!

(Cosmo-Bug flies toward the mob and watches Luna-TK drop the charm.)

ADRIEN: No!

(Cosmo-Bug extends her yo-yo and catches the charm just before it falls in. The mob notices her as she lands and storms over to them.)

COSMO-BUG: What are you guys doing?!

LUNA-TK: We were about to burn the traitors’ good luck away and then kill them so that they wouldn’t…

COSMO-BUG: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Kill them? Spots off.

(She de-transforms, shocking the travel group.)

MARINETTE: I wanted them sent back to Paris, not murdered!

(Terence and Brick release the cage. The Minions do the same with the ropes, then lift the cage door open, releasing the travel group.)

MARINETTE: “Lila Rossi’s reign over Paris continues to grow. Ladybug and Cat Noir nowhere to be seen to stop her.” I know they’ve wronged me in plenty of ways, but torture and murder is not the answer. We have to go back to Paris and take the city back.

(Everyone looks at each other.)

LUNA-TK: Okay. We’ll follow your lead.

(Marinette looks up at Luna-TK.)

Just, what a wonderful example of purest hypocrisy from our allegedly mature protagonist (remember: she's magically confirmed to be "an adult" now). The sheer lack of introspection, the mountain of horrendous deception she's committing to compared to the pebble that this would be if Adrien was lying...

I wouldn't be able to write that line in good conscience if I was writing a Marinette salt-fic. Not unless said fic was a humour-fic where the farce was played for laughs.

But if this is sincere? That's hilarious in its own right.

I don't know if you saw that part of the leaks too but the snort that escaped me when Marinette cried "What if Adrien LIED to me??" (About talking to Sublime) was unholy lol

It takes GUTS to have a protagonist be this bold of a self centred hypocrite. Like, if Marinette were a real person I would assume she's hard core projecting out of guilt, but this is Miraculous. Marinette for real thinks this would be the much worse lie because this is about HER not feeling comfortable in her one sided emotional support relationship

I didn't see that part. Yeah, little miss gaslighter has no place whining about Adrien possibly lying to her. Even if he was, I’d side with Adrien because what other choice does he have with a girlfriend this insecure about him daring to have friends while she gets to have an entire fanclub and surround herself with people who are in love with her? Marinette is obsessed with even the made up notion that Adrien isn't honest with her about his every stray thought and action. Marinette would be reading Adrien's thoughts to make sure he's where he's supposed to be in his every waking moment if she could get the ability.

She casually popped the gum she wasn't chewing for effect. For something she came up with on the spot, she'd like to think she killed it. "Where's the lie?"

Roger let loose the deep inhale of a man who was reliving all the crap he had to endure from Chloe since he first became a cop. "I was clearly asking for your real name."

"Oh my God." She rocked back-and-forth on her chair to further punctuate her offense. "A lot of people have other names."

Curling in on herself, her body flumped forward to prop itself up on the table. She brandished her phone like a weapon, reaching across the table to wave it threateningly over Roger's throat. "Not everyone is enslaved to the identity the government gave them. If I wanna be known as Beatrice Potassium Banana, that is my right and you have to respect it."
