Margaery understood at once. "A trial by battle? Loras is hurt, though, elsewise he . . ."

"He has six brothers."

Margaery stared at her, then pulled her hand away. "Is that a jape? Boros is a craven, Meryn is old and slow, your brother is maimed, the other two are off in Dorne, and Osmund is a bloody Kettleblack. Loras has two brothers, not six. If there's to be a trial by battle, I want Garlan as my champion."

"Ser Garlan is not a member of the Kingsguard," the queen said. "When the queen's honor is at issue, law and custom require that her champion be one of the king's sworn seven. The High Septon will insist, I fear." I will make certain of it.

Margaery did not answer at once, but her brown eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Blount or Trant," she said at last. "It would have to be one of them. You'd like that, wouldn't you? Osney Kettleblack would cut either one to pieces."

Seven hells. Cersei donned a look of hurt. "You wrong me, daughter. All I want - "

" - is your son, all for yourself. He will never have a wife that you don't hate. And I am not your daughter, thank the gods. Leave me."

"You are being foolish. I am only here to help you."

"To help me to my grave. I asked for you to leave. Will you make me call my gaolers and have you dragged away, you vile, scheming, evil bitch?"

I don't know why but Margaery Tyrell is one of those characters who's fancasts I'm almost never happy with. They always feel just a little off, a little bit to the left of what I imagine Margaery to be. Personally the only fancast I'm in love with is Natalie Portman, particularly as Padme in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. this kind of sucks because I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone other than me fancast her as Margaery, and there are very few scenes in those films where her outfits could blend into an asoiaf edit.

If I had to choose a second favorite, it would probably be Millie Bobby Brown? She has a similar look to her there, and she'd be an especially good choice for a younger/closer to book accurate fancast of Margaery. But I also think she could make for a good Jeyne Westerling.

The most common Margaery fancast by far (at least on tumblr that is) is probably Hailee Steinfeld. But I've never really liked that casting, it doesn't sit right with me. I'm very attached to the other popular Hailee Steinfeld ASOIAF fancast, aka Jeyne Poole; I feel her dark hair and eyes better suit Jeyne anyways, versus Margaery, who's hair and eyes I imagine to be a lighter shade of honey brown. Although Hailee is a very pretty, sweet looking woman (especially in Romeo & Juliet)......she's just not sweet looking in the right way? I don't know if I can explain it, but even though she has neither the right hair or eye color she moreso matches my idea of Sansa than she does Margaery. She's too soft, I think.

Now I’m just thinking about how Hailee Steinfeld was the perfect age to play Margaery Tyrell at the time of filming and she already had an incredible performance in True Grit under her belt and looks so much like the book character and honestly could have done a phenomenal job. Don’t get me wrong I love Natalie Dormer’s performance as Margaery but like ultimately I always want age-accurate casting bc it really demonstrates the horrifying events around these characters and contextualizes their decision and actions/inactions so much more. Like I think show fans really forget that Margaery isn’t a main POV character so we really don’t know what she’s thinking and that Margaery is ultimately a pawn of her family. To showcase that with an age-accurate actress could have been incredible

ASOIAF Faces - Part III

I've decided to gather an assortment of actors that remind me of characters from A Song of Ice and Fire. Not that anybody will care about this, but it's fun to make.This is purely based on looks, following no concept of time, place or acting ability. It is merely a way to convey my mental image of the characters, at least as of now, because it does change from time to time. It's also not a comment on the validity of the actors that were cast on the show. So... that. I'll be adding the character descriptions from A Wiki of Ice and Fire when possible.

I've already talked about some of these in the past, but oh well.

Renly is described as a powerful man who is lean and lithe. He has a handsome, clean-shaven face. Renly greatly resembles a young King Robert I Baratheon, being near as tall as his eldest brother had been. Like Robert, Renly has an easy smile. He is taller and broader in the chest than Ser Loras Tyrell.

Russell Todd as Renly. Admittedly not very similar to my Robert, but it is how I imagine his face so whatever.

Loras is exceptionally handsome. His hair is a mass of lazy brown curls and ringlets which tumble over his eyes, which have been described as brown, liquid gold, big, and intelligent and lively. Sansa Stark also thinks Loras is beautiful, and that he is lithe and graceful with wonderful eyes.

Brenton Thwaites as Loras Tyrell. I'm actually surprised he's not a more popular fancast.

Margaery has thick, softly curling brown hair and large brown eyes. She has a slender but womanly figure with smooth and unblemished pale skin. She is regarded as beautiful or pretty by most. Both Sansa and Cersei Lannister note the similarities in appearance between Margaery and her youngest brother, Loras.

Hailee Steinfeld as Margaery Tyrell. She IS rather popular, though. I imagined Margaery in different ways while reading the books, but by necessity that also changed how I saw Loras and... that just complicates things.

How’s your margeary Tyrell fancast? People tend to do her with blue eyes and fair straight hair for some reason even though she’s brown, liquid gold, eyes with curly brown hair

If everyone could stop straightening actresses’ natural hair in period dramas and fantasy shows I would be very happy. This is coming from someone whose hair takes close to two hours to straighten properly lol.

In my head Margaery looks a little like Hailee Steinfeld in Romeo and Juliet combined with Drew Barrymore in Ever After. I see her as having a bit of a baby face and kind of a girl next door look to her beauty? Like I think she looks like a very warm and friendly person, not icy or cold.
