I really wanted to share little stories from my work with the world and document what happens, but unlike most other people in my situation - I’m not nearly confident enough in my art! I shall simply be writing them down :D

I come from a long line of liars, storytellers, and writers so it mIgHt be of reasonable quality

Jamie - (Me) 5’2, Genderfluid, Disabled. Server’s Assistant. Most often seen in a black beanie, wearing round glasses, and engulfed in a large black hoodie, with combat boots to finish off the look

Clara - 5’4, Female. Server’s Assistant. Always wears her hair in a ponytail, ‘wears a t-shirt and jean shorts to work because it’s summer

Keegan - 5’5, Female. Server’s Assistant. Likes to braid her hair in the summer, and usually wears a tshirt long enough to cover her shorts

Michelle - 5’8, Female. Server’s Assistant. Keeps her hair up in a messy bun and wears square glasses. Usually wears a black tshirt and jeans

Addison - 5'3, Female. Server's Assistant. Brown hair that she keeps in a ponytail. Always wears some type of black top with jeans. Adrian's cousin.

Cecelia - 5'4, Female. Server's Assistant. Long dirty blonde hair that she either keeps in a claw clip or in a messy ponytail. Wears some flavour of sports hoodie and jeans to work.

Selene - 5'2, Female. Server's Assistant. Clara's mother. Very short salt n pepper hair with square glasses. Tends to wear a t-shirt and jeans every day.

Stephanie - 5’11, Female. Waitress. Insists on keeping her hair constantly in a slicked back ponytail. Wears a black tshirt and jeans to work

Maria - 5’5, Female. Waitress, Disabled. Has short enough hair that she never has to do anything with it and wears square glasses. Always wears her tshirt with the diner logo on it with a pair of jean shorts to not mess with her leg brace

Hazel- 5’4, Female. Waitress. Has short enough hair to not have to mess with it. Wears a black tshirt with jeans

Evelyn - 5’3, Female. Waitress, Disabled. Even though her hair is short she still wears it in a ponytail. Has glasses but never wears them. Wears a black tshirt and tends to swap between jeans and shorts depending on the weather

Anne - 5'5, Female. Waitress, Disabled.

Cassandra - 5'4, Female. Waitress.

Big Jamie - 6’1, Male. Chef. Will wear whatever the hell he wants to work but consistently keeps his hair under a baseball cap

Eleanor- 5’5, Female. Chef. sHoRt hair and square glasses. She wears a black tshirt but whatever she matches it with varies from day to day

Keith - 5’10, Male. Chef. He doesn’t have hair. Always wears basketball shorts and whatever tshirt he pulls out that morning

Jonathan - 5’11, Male. Kitchen Assistant. He wears the most OBNOXIOUS neon shirts. His favourite is “my shirt is brighter than your future” and- yeah- it’s pretty dag gum bright. He has really long hair he somehow shoved in a beanie, and wears long pants year round

Nyx - 5’8, Male. Kitchen Assistant. Looks like Morty from Rick and Morty but older and tucks his hair in a backwards baseball cap. Always wears all black and long pants despite the weather

Ainsley - 5'2, Female. Kitchen Assistant, Disabled. Blonde hair that she keeps up in a claw clip. Wears whatever t-shirt and jeans she finds around.

Cayden - 5'10, Male. Kitchen Assistant. Short black hair that he doesn't do anything with. Usually wears dark shirts with black jeans.

Mars - 5'2, Male. Kitchen Assistant. Curly red hair that he keeps under a baseball cap. Wears the same outfit he wore to school at work, which can range from jerseys to tshirts and jeans.

Anthony - 6’, Male. Owner. Much like Big Jamie he’ll wear whatever he wants because he’s always in the back rooms, but it’s pretty much always a tshirt and shorts

Elizabeth - 5’8, Female. Owner. Wears her hair up in a ponytail and is constantly in a black tshirt and jeans for work

Jamie Dornan Wants to Be the Cool Dad

The actor on why he was initially reluctant to play the father in Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast.

Jamie Dornan began his year on-screen serenading seagulls with a melodramatic rock ballad in Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo’s delightfully bizarre comedy Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar. The performance won him praise from comedy fans and critics alike for his commitment, and helped audiences see the former 50 Shades actor in a new way. As if to put emphasis on his versatility, he ended the year in Kenneth Branagh’s autobiographical coming-of-age drama, Belfast, as a version of the director’s own father. Dornan’s performance has garnered nominations for best supporting actor from the Critics Choice Awards, the Hollywood Critics Association, and more. For W’s Best Performances issue, he talks about his hesitation to play a father, his enduring friendship with Eddie Redmayne and Andrew Garfield, and the superpower he secretly wants.

What was your reaction when you first heard about the part?

In Belfast, I play a dad, and there was a moment when I read the script where I thought, I’m a young guy—I’m not ready to play a father! Mind you, in real life I do have a wife and three daughters, but my kids in Belfast are a bit older than my actual children. Then I realized that I was playing a version of [writer-director] Sir Kenneth Branagh’s dad, and I felt better. I also grew up in Belfast, and I wanted to make the city proud.

Belfast is a tearjerker. You’d played a father before in The Fall.

Yes, but he was a serial killer. Not exactly Father of the Year!

What movie makes you cry?

Philadelphia gets me every time. I had some friends around to watch it, and I gave out tissues at the start of the film. I was weeping, and my friends just stared at me; their eyes were dry, while I was sobbing.

You started your career at the same time as Eddie Redmayne and Andrew Garfield. The three of you have remained close.

We never felt like it was a competition. We’d audition for the same roles sometimes, and we’d even help one another prepare. Somehow we all found our way and managed to stay friends.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

Flying. I have a recurring dream that I’m flying over Belfast. I fly over the city and wind up home.

We open on Mars and EZ as they negotiate a secret deal that could very well end Neon Future as we know it. At the same time, a CTG raid of Andi's lair leaves Float fighting for his life and introduces us to a wild new character who may hurt more than she helps. Kita summons Clay, Hubble, Chen and Dee for a last-ditch effort to save Float and Andi - a mission that not all of them will survive.     As I sit here and was listing the creators and what role they play in this spectacular little drama I thought to myself, holy cow how many folks does it take to create one issue? I mean there are no back-up stories or anything. It is just something I noticed and thought of and put it down in writing it really is more of a curiosity than anything else.     I am also going to reiterate the fact that I wouldn't have found this if I weren't at C2E2. When you got to conventions, or if you haven't been to one then find a local one and go, look for what you've never seen before. That is how you find books like this one, which will take you on a journey the likes of which leaves such a good impression and leaves you wanting so much more. This is a fabulous look at not only society and how we see caste systems whether people want to admit they exist in such a fashion or not as well as a sensational science fiction story. This has it's roots firmly planted in an almost traditional science fiction setting and while it's been updated and is oh so current and modern it still has that old school feel to it. This really is one of those rare stories that just grabs you, pulls you in and engages your mind and imagination.     I love the work being done on the interiors here. It almost feels as if there is the linework of the characters alongside this computer generated colour work that somehow brings this near realistic look, tone and feel. The way that we see the varying weights of the linework utilised to create this absolute stunning attention to detail. The way we see the composition inside the panels with backgrounds being utilised to enhance the moments and show a sense of size and scope is incredibly well done. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows a truly wonderful eye for storytelling. Then there's the colour work and I have to say that it's blood brilliant stuff to see. I mean inside the kernel with those neon colours and how they work together to create that inside virtual reality computer stuff is amazing. To see how light sources are utilised to show shading and shadows is exceptionally well done. The individuality of the characters through race and gender is diverse and well presented.     The character development that we are seeing here is fantastic and to see them grow, evolve and become the people they never knew they could be is something Jim is able to portray with aplomb. The intrigue factor here is pretty high and that's because of events we see unfold here which then take the reader off script and try to use our brains to figure things out that aren't yet show is something that keeps the reader coming back time and again. ​     It feels like a renascence in comics right now with new outlets for creators to explore story ideas and do what they do best. Besides Jim is such a great writer that it's nice to see him at the helm of some incredibly strong stories again. This little gem came out of nowhere and guess what this is so well done that it's not going anywhere and you should be on board.

Natasha Owens Turns ‘American Patriot’ With New Studio Album

Best known as a Christian music powerhouse with five studio albums under her belt, Natasha Owens is taking a stand with her upcoming album, American Patriot. Produced for Radiate Music by GRAMMY-nominated and multiple Dove Award winner Ian Eskelin, the new album will be available everywhere on July 1, 2022. Owens exploded onto the Christian Music scene in 2016 and quickly found herself touring with Christian Music’s most iconic artists, including Michael W. Smith and Jason Crabb. Her sophomore album, We Will Rise, was named “Inspirational Album of the Year” at the 2018 We Love Christian Music Awards, which led to a deal with Nashville-based Radiate Music and extensive media coverage including appearances on Fox News, HLN, Newsmax and more. With American Patriot, Owens is taking a new direction and offering up a bold, proud, powerful concept collection that bridges an unwavering love of country with the themes of faith and family that have always played a significant part in her artistry. “The definition of a patriot is ‘a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors,’” says the Texas-native. “Put the word ‘American’ in front of it and it describes me perfectly. I’m proud to be a patriot…I love this country so much. I can’t look at a flying flag without tearing up. It’s the same way for me when I see a cross. I am all about giving to other countries, but at the end of the day, I want my president or my elected official to be looking out for me, us, the American people, American children, American veterans and American homeless first. And if they can’t say ‘America First,’ then they don’t deserve to lead.” The album is also sure to get attention for the pro-life anthem, “Stand For Life.” “This one was written for the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America group, for every pro-life organization and pro-life person,” explains Owens. “It’s just a declaration that I stand for life, boldly in front of God and the whole world. Hopefully it will give others enough courage to stand up, vocalize and fight for the cause. Life is precious. Life starts at conception. An embryo is not a clump of cells. It is a miracle from God. It gave me such fulfillment.” Owens’ path to a successful music career is unique, rooted in agonizing heartache and unbelievable tragedy. Twelve years ago, her father died suddenly while cleaning his guns when one misfired, placing a bullet in his chest. She somberly recalls. “I downward spiraled into depression and almost didn’t make it. I was in a battlefield of the mind and a fight for my life. God gave me the opportunity to walk a road of music to help give people hope and encouragement, that they could make it and that God would get them through. I am a living example of that. I wouldn’t be alive today if God had not crossed my path when he did.” “Each album has been another chapter of my recovery. From making it through, to rising above, to being a warrior and standing on a firm foundation for Christ, I have been very vocal about being a proponent for mental health. I feel like this is just an expansion of my ministry. Solders are true warriors physically on the battlefield. But service to this country creates scars. They come back home physically, but then the real battle starts, from PTSD, to physical disabilities to pure brokenness. They try to be strong and they try to hold it in, but the battlefield in their mind rages. Society and the church has failed in the mental health arena. For so long, it has been a taboo to really talk about it. And the church is so faith-based that they just say, ‘well, you don’t have enough faith’ or ‘you just need to pray more.’ There are circumstances that paralyze us so much that we are lucky to get between breath to breath. We are just in survival mode. Jesus is the way out. I am a survivor, so I have to say things in such a way that people can feel the empathy.
