with all the love in the world, if you view a writer you like getting into a ship or fandom you dislike as a betrayal, you need to take several long steps back, like maybe all the way out of fandom, at least until you can stop treating random strangers on the internet writing fanfic for free as your personal contracted servants

#this isn't about any one particular thing #but it seems to pop up in every fandom ever #like i get being disappointed but you have GOT to learn to manage that shit without making it other people's problem

this watcher news is so insane to me for lots of reasons but i cant help thinking of starkid. an independent musical theater company that has put all their musical productions on youtube for free for over 15 years. recently, those projects have cost easily over 200k EACH. yet, they keep posting it for free. why? because doing that provides for their fanbase, which supports them monetarily in other ways. they produced 2 musicals back-to-back in summer 2014 to still be able to support the company, and still put them both on youtube. they hit their 250k kickstarter goal in 3 DAYS LAST WEEK. they have tons of prizes and exclusive content that people can get for payment. people willingly give them that money because they are ultimately creating art for all of us to see, for free. it would have made perfect sense for them to stop doing this years ago, but they didn't, because that would go against everything that helped them become as big of a production as they are. imagine if avpm was never released on youtube for free! i guess my point is that there IS a way to make a profit and still release "free" content for the masses. watcher just doesn't seem to want to put the work in for that.

#this is kind of a mess but i just cant help compare these two independent youtube-based companies #and how one has. trump winning mostly due to channeling the economic concerns of american voters into a better campaign (and probably also a few bomb threats) being blamed by hardline dems on arab/muslim/jewish voter treachery is pretty medieval europe coded i have to say

#managing to disappoint both ‘’sides’’ on palestine in the country literally using israel as a vassal state is pretty impressive #all three are teeny tiny demographics in the us to begin with where most vote for dem usually & only the really conservative ones vote for #republicans (as w/ most american minorities). no matter your stance blaming arab/muslim/jewish (let alone single-issue palestine/israel #voters) is laughable. this is coming from an israeli-american w/ such voters in my immediate family who i strongly disagree with #trump didn't even win in dearborn bc most people voted for him. he won bc the vote was split. most people voted for harris or stein. like #please talk to your trumpie parents instead #there's many more non-arab/muslim/jewish(/latino fwiw) white voters mindlessly backing trump there are arab/muslim/jewish americans combine #the voting habits of like 4% of the us population shouldn't be getting this much outsized sensational attention in that regard

i massively enjoyed my time with rise/sunbreak and I’ll no doubt keep playing it, but i finally jumped into world and im not trying to be too corny but i am genuinely overwhelmed by how beautiful it all is.

#I see why some people might have been disappointed by rise #the design philosophy is just very different between the two games and I’m happy for the experimentation #I definitely prefer the realism of world tho #that’s just not something you can do on a switch so I’m glad they leaned into the limitation for rise to make it much more action focused #but I love the tracking and resource management and every map is so detailed #it’s almost overwhelming how much I love it #why didn’t I play monster hunter sooner it’s so much my jam #monster hunter

#the thing about art fight is it's genuinely a lot of fun but it's also kind of a month-long trip into a pressure cooker #I managed to make a respectable amount of attacks last year but it also drained me pretty thoroughly mentally and physically #and even when I did my absolute best I managed to revenge only a fraction of the art I received and I started feeling guilty about it #I dunno maybe it's getting irresponsible for me to partake when I know I will end up disappointing people despite my best efforts #answered #mini-labrynth #commissions kind of spook me but I like drawing for people when the expectations are low so art fight is nice for that #I just wish I was better at managing it's intensity or something #also july is typically pretty hectic time for me

Never going to get over the fact that in "The Royal Blacksmiths" Lou wasn't actually mad about the ninja part, he was explicitly upset about Cole's plan to steal the Blade Cup. Not once does he say anything against Cole being a ninja. Sure, maybe the whole theft thing overshadowed the ninja bit and Lou would have been just as mad, but like. His whole "I'm not gonna stand here and watch as you make a mockery of our family legacy!" line was after lines about how disappointed he was that Cole wanted to steal the Blade Cup. He said nothing about Cole being a ninja.

Which, given everything we've learned about Lily since, makes the family legacy line even more OUGH AUGH OUWOUGH
