An idea for a funny HC if you wouldn't mind? Komaru's bringing Toko to dinner with her parents for the first time. Alls going well, then Toko sneezes. It's Jill and she's, being Jill. So what would be Komaru's reaction be when her parents act unconcerned, saying they already met Jill during Makoto's previous birthday party, and Jill's suddenly acting like a 'model daughter' to them? Especially Mama Naegi. If you don't mind.

Komaru wasn’t as nervous as Toko was to have her meet her parents. She kept assuring Toko that everything would be alright, that they were sure to love her as much as she did.

Somehow she didn’t foresee the possibility of Syo fronting during dinner. Obviously Syo didn’t know what was happening, Komaru had to scramble to explain everything.

Her parents stopped her, though, even though Syo was still laughing a little. It just so happened that they already met Syo, during one of Makoto’s birthday parties.

Komaru’s mom really appreciated Syo’s manners, which Komaru was kind of surprised by. Syo knew how to charm her parents, apparently, and could read a room.

The rest of dinner went smoothly because of that. The situation was explained as best as possible, so her parents both understood and were alright with everything as long as she was happy.

Melepas satu-satu

Waktu SMP, aku dan tiga orang temanku yang lain diberi kesempatan dari sekolah untuk ikut test ujian masuk salah satu SMA favorit yang ada di kotaku, milik pak Habibie. Mengapa di antara ratusan siswa cuman kami berempat yang diberikan kesempatan? Selain karena kuotanya terbatas, kami berempat merupakan siswa-siswi terpintar di sekolah kami. Tiga temanku yang lain langganan juara olimpiade, sedangkan aku sendiri dari kelas satu menjadi pemegang juara 1 umum berturut-turut.

Lalu kenapa gak jadi lanjut?

Biaya.

Meskipun dapat beasiswa, aku pasti akan membutuhkan tambahan uang lain. Itu yang menjadi pertimbanganku. Sedangkan saat itu aku mau berharap ke siapa? Bapakku baru beberapa tahun lalu meninggal, mamaku cuman jualan makanan untuk menghidupi kami, sedangkan dua kakakku yang lain tinggal di rumah tanteku untuk bersekolah.

Lanjut SMA, saat pengumuman kelulusan beberapa waktu lagi diumumkan, saat teman-teman yang lain sudah pada sibuk mengurus berkas untuk melanjutkan pendidikan ke bangku kuliah, aku dalam hati sudah lama berpikir bahwa aku mungkin gak akan bisa berkuliah. Sejak pengalaman di SMP itu, aku sudah lama berhenti berharap untuk bisa punya pendidikan yang lebih tinggi. Meskipun aku tetap menjadi siswi yang berprestasi di sekolahku.

Mendengar keputusanku untuk tidak berkuliah, banyak guru yang menyayangkan dan memaksaku untuk ikut coba mendaftar SNMPTN. Aku yang merasa tidak enak memilih untuk menurutinya, meskipun dalam hati aku berpikir toh bagaimana pun hasilnya nanti, aku juga akan tetap gak akan memilih berkuliah.

Aku sebenarnya sempat khawatir bagaimana jika aku kesulitan untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan jika aku gak jadi sarjana. Namun pada akhirnya saat itu aku memilih berpasrah diri juga, ke mana takdir hidup akan membawaku.

Hasilnya bisa ditebak. aku lulus. Di dua universitas berbeda. Guru-guru pada marah karena aku gak melanjutkan kesempatan itu. Beberapa temanku yang lain mengatakan bahwa dengan tidak mengambil kesempatan itu, sama saja aku tidak memanfaatkan dengan baik kesempatan yang seharusnya didapatkan oleh temanku yang lain. Aku mencuri kesempatan siswa lain untuk bisa berkuliah.

Pertanyaannya, siapa yang memaksa aku melakukan semua ini kalau aku sendiri yang kelak akan menjalaninya sudah tahu kalau aku gak akan bisa?

Lulus SMA, aku akhirnya memilih bekerja. Pada satu waktu, seorang kerabat menawarkan kepadaku untuk disekolahkan. Aku bercerita kepada mama soal ini, mama melarang, aku marah dan kami ribut besar. Aku yang semula gak pernah menangis di depan mama saat itu gak bisa menahan untuk tidak terisak.

Aku cuman pengen sekolah. Apa harus sesusah itu?

Meskipun aku juga menyadari apa alasan mama melarangku. Kami cuman tinggal berempat: aku, mama, dan kedua adikku yang masih kecil. Kalau aku gak tinggal di rumah, siapa yang akan menjaga kedua adikku kalau mama pergi bekerja? Dan gak dipungkiri juga, meskipun gaji dari pekerjaanku bekerja di toko milik seorang tetangga gak begitu besar, setidaknya itu bisa meringankan sedikit pengeluaran kami.

Lagi-lagi, beberapa impianku harus kulepaskan satu-satu hanya karena satu kendala: gak punya uang.

Aku suka sekali belajar. Itu juga yang jadi alasan meskipun aku gak lagi bersekolah, aku terbiasa melakukan berbagai cara untuk bisa tetap belajar. Untuk bisa mendapatkan pengetahuan baru. Apalagi di zaman sekarang berbagai ilmu pengetahuan menjadi lebih mudah didapatkan. Semua ada di internet. Bagiku, belajar tidak hanya saat duduk di bangku sekolah. Ya meskipun belajar sendiri tentu berbeda dengan belajar didampingi seorang guru.

Di usiaku saat ini, aku gak bisa hitung udah berapa banyak mimpi dan cita-cita yang dengan hati sakit aku lepas karena aku gak punya sumber daya yang cukup untuk bisa meraihnya. Aku gak tau hal ini akan berlangsung sampai kapan. Yang aku cuman tahu, setiap takdir hidup yang Allah udah tetapkan bagiku pasti akan membawaku pada satu hikmah besar. Karena itu yang aku rasakan setelah beberapa tahun merenung. Sederhananya, aku yang sekarang tidak akan pernah terbentuk tanpa semua yang aku lalui di masa lalu.

Aku gak tahu akan berapa banyak mimpi lagi yang akan kulepas di masa depan nanti. Yang aku harap, jika memang aku harus melepas beberapa hal, aku tidak lagi melakukannya dengan alasan aku tak punya cukup uang.

Aku berharap, kelak, aku bisa punya privilege untuk mendapatkan segala ilmu dan juga pengalaman yang ingin aku ketahui dan jalani, tanpa lagi sempat memikirkan apakah aku punya uang untuk bisa melakukannya.

In a rush to make their way to Monokuma Rock, the motel group runs to the bridge that connects to the center island. As they begin to cross it, things are going strangely easy for them... that is until Chisa, Kotone, and Mondo stand in their path. And if it that wasn't bad enough, a large horde of ghouls starts to slowly approach from where the group came. It seems that they all have no choice but to try to somehow push forward.

"...This is our only way forward." Kyoko said, though sweat was pouring down her face as she came to that conclusion. If they wanted to make it into Monokuma Rock they needed to get past this horde. But at this moment?

None of them could say they didn't try their best!!! As one they charged in, pushing and shoving, and kicking and trying their damdnest to break out of the sea.

For some, luck smiled upon them as Kaede managed to get through the horde unscathed and smiling victoriously. "Hahahahaah, yes!!!!" with a fist pump, she jogged forward.

For some like Komaru, luck was barely on her side as she managed to squeak through the crowd with just losing a top!! 'Makoto, Kyoko...Toko...please make it to the Rock too!!' She thought as she sprinted towards their salvation.

"O-ohhhh shiiittt!!" Kazuichi swore as she dragged himself out of his ruined jumpsuit for two girl ghouls had tried to drag him into their little threesome. Thankfully, he managed to squirm away and bolt onto the central island

Jugglus: This is what you risked your safety and your friend’s safety for, a toy?

R/n: Just hear me out, okay? I know how it looks! But Tokomon isn’t a toy he’s-

{Both Jugglus and Haruki are taken aback when the “Toy’s” eyes open and it begins to moves on it’s own]

Tokomon, wakes up at looks at R/n: Mama?

Haruki: Huh?

Jugglus: …

Jugglus: Did that thing just call you mama?

R/n: It’s egg kind of rolled out of my laptop....And hatched.

Tokomon, looking at them curiously: ewllo?

Haruki, waves at it: It’s not a t-toy?

R/n:...I was trying to tell you, h-He’s Tokomon...He’s a Digimon and I need help him get home-

Haruki: Oh, this kid is lost? Well it’s nice to meet you little Toko- (goes to pet Tokomon)

Tokomon:*yawns showing off his jagged teeth.*

Haruki: Oh God!

(Haruki quickly retracts his hand and Jugglus stumbles back a bit as they stare at Tokomon disturbed.]

Jugglus shook up:  …uh, What did you say that’s called again?

R/n: A Digimon, it’s short for Digital monster.

Jugglus: And why do you have it?

R/n: Like I said, it’s egg manifested out of my computer and hatched, apparently there’s been influx of digital-waves lately and it’s causing rifts to open between the digital world and the real world, and it’s my job to find them and close them.

Haruki: You told me you were an freelance IT tech!

R/n: and I am, I didn’t lie to you Haruki, you just never bothered to ask what I do. 

Haruki: So, that cyber attack at the hospital?

R/n: It was Digimon a Diaboromon to be a exact, nasty things. 

Haruki: The third party that resolve it?

R/n: That was me, with a little help from my friend.

Jugglus: Your friend?

[R/n snaps her fingers and a large figure materialized behind her it was decked out in gold armor had a blue cape, while wielding twin swords.]

R/n: This is Grademon he helps me combat against hostile Digimon and hackers.

Kalau ummi dulu waktu kuliah dan koas, inisiatif memasak sendiri dan puasa sunnah agar terbeli buku buku incaran ummi. Yah, walaupun nabungnya dapetnya ndak seberapa, tapi setidaknya ummi menjadikan tabungan itu menjadi investasi ilmu ummi hehe. Kadang juga tergoda dengan gamis gamis juga hijab syari di toko kuning hehe, ummi khilaf.

Sihir Buku

Ada banyak berkat yang saya rasakan dalam hidup. Salah satu yang paling saya syukuri adalah orang tua yang memperkenalkan dunia imajinasi dan sihir buku sedari dini.

Salah satu kenangan masa kecil yang paling membekas adalah bagaimana setiap bulan kami pergi ke Gramedia. Di toko buku itu, papa dan mama akan membiarkan saya memilih satu buku favorit untuk dibeli. Bayangkan seorang bocah cilik yang asik menjelajahi rak-rak tinggi dengan jajaran buku dongeng. Bagi saya, 'menara' buku berwarna-warni itu sama menariknya dengan es krim dan permen. Kami selalu menghabiskan waktu berjam-jam di sana, menikmati kebersamaan walau terpisah di lorong kesukaan masing-masing. Saya selalu ndlosor di lantai bagian buku-buku anak, membaca sebanyak mungkin sebelum memilih satu yang layak dibawa pulang. Kala itu, membeli buku sebulan sekali adalah sebuah kemewahan yang sangat dinanti-nanti.

Sedikit dewasa, buku-buku yang saya baca semakin tebal. Dari puluhan halaman bergambar menjadi ratusan lembar penuh tulisan. Dari dongeng di negeri fauna menuju kisah perjalanan penyihir, penunggang naga, dan kisah romantis remaja. Harga buku kesukaan pun semakin tak murah. Berkali-kali saya takut membawa buku yang mahal ke hadapan orang tua saya. Namun, respon mereka selalu sama, "Buat buku, tidak apa-apa!" Pola pikir ini kemudian saya terima sebagai warisan yang sakral. Untuk ilmu pengetahuan, imajinasi, dan wawasan, tidak ada kata mahal.

Suatu ketika di bangku SMA, saya pergi ke mall dengan beberapa teman perempuan. Mereka asik membeli jepit rambut, bando, dan aksesori wanita. Saya hanya melihat-lihat sambil berpikir, sayang ya beli begini kalau jarang dipakai. Tak sabar menunggu mereka, saya bergeser ke toko buku yang berada tak jauh dari situ. Setelah memilih beberapa novel, saya membayar dan kebetulan teman-teman yang sudah selesai dari toko aksesori bergabung di kasir. Salah satu mendekat dan berkata dengan kaget, "Ya ampun! Lila, kamu belanja buku banyak banget! Mahal ya sampai ratusan ribu!"

Memori itu terpatri jelas sekali di benak saya. Betul juga ya? Mau beli jepit kurang dari 20 ribu saja saya sayang. Namun kemudian saya pergi ke toko buku dan menghabiskan uang hampir 10x lipat untuk tiga buah buku :)) Di kala itu saya sadar betul bahwa papa mama telah sukses meracuni anaknya dengan dunia literasi.

Layaknya sebuah kisah cinta, perjalanan saya dengan buku tak selalu berjalan mulus. Usai lulus kuliah, saya merasa sangat jauh dari buku. Saya masih suka menulis dan membaca artikel-artikel pendek, tetapi sangat jarang membaca novel dan karya sastra panjang. Berbagai alasan saya bisikkan ke diri sendiri, kamu sudah bekerja, sekarang kamu perlu membaca report - bukan novel, kamu sibuk aktivitas lain sehingga tak ada waktu. Dari beberapa novel sebulan menjadi satu novel per bulan, lalu beberapa novel per tahun.

Entah mulai kapan, membaca menjadi sesuatu yang hanya bisa dilakukan di waktu-waktu spesial. Saya tak lagi mencari waktu untuk membaca, tapi membaca ketika ada waktu. Hal ini terjadi selama bertahun-tahun, dan saya selalu kesulitan untuk kembali menumbuhkan rasa cinta tersebut.

Belakangan, saya mencoba menjauhkan diri dari media sosial. Platform ini memunculkan banyak dampak negatif dan menyerap terlalu banyak energi serta emosi (saya membuat tulisan tentang media sosial di sini jika Anda tertarik membaca). Perlahan-lahan, saya memaksa diri membaca buku.

Rasanya ternyata sangat emosional. Saya menemui buku pertama yang membuat saya menangis dalam lima tahun terakhir. Buku pertama yang membuat mata saya pedas karena begadang - terlalu penasaran dengan akhir cerita. Buku pertama yang membuat saya tak sabar membaca seri kedua dan ketiganya. Buku-buku lanjutan dari kisah-kisah masa kecil yang dulu begitu saya cintai. Saya merasa seperti orang yang menemukan kembali cinta pertamanya. Sesuatu yang terasa begitu melegakan, menenangkan, dan menggembirakan. Nyaman.

Saya kemudian juga memahami bahwa rating buku sangatlah penting. Hal ini sangat terasa ketika membaca ulang buku-buku dengan target pembaca dewasa yang dulu saya lahap ketika masih SD atau SMP. Ternyata, buku-buku itu memberikan warna dan makna yang begitu berbeda. Apa yang dulu membingungkan atau terasa begitu abstrak, sekarang dapat saya maknai dengan jelas. Kutipan yang berkata 'You never read the same book twice' memang benar adanya. Membaca karya apik memang terkadang butuh lebih dari sekali agar tak ada inti sari yang terlewat.

Seorang dosen sekaligus sahabat saya pernah berkata, "Membaca itu bukan hobby tapi habbit". Ada masanya membaca memang perlu dibiasakan sebelum lama-lama menjadi suatu hal yang akan kita rindukan ketika tidak dilakukan. Saya begitu bersyukur bahwa orangtua saya memperkenalkan pada dunia sejuta warna ini. Tanpa mereka, tak mungkin saya menjadi seorang pembaca seperti hari ini.

Di dunia yang serba cepat dan instan, membaca adalah salah satu jalan keluar untuk kembali mendapatkan kenikmatan yang meresap secara perlahan. Suaka nyaman untuk melangkah di trotoar kata-kata menuju dunia imajinasi.

"Mornin', Fluff-chan." Exchanges like these are common in these days. 

Would you believe me if I tell you that I'm living in a library? It’s technically in the basement, but yeah. It's a town... populated entirely by food. They aren't actually food, but they're all so convinced that they are. The lady I'm stayin' with is named Marshmallow Fluff, MaFlu for short for some. Her hair looks just like her namesake, which she said was what happened the year she came here. But as I investigated last night, it sure as hell doesn't have the exact texture of marshmallow paste. I thought she would be someone with a good head on her shoulders, but no. She's just as delusional as the others...!! It certainly grew FAST. And as I stayed, I learned about the insane yet intricate rituals the people do, so damn deep in their delusions. It was neck-length when I arrived, and as I found out, it was because of the fact that a neighbor, Candy, is wholly addicted to, well, candy and sweets. So, in exchange for her life (a cannibal??? wow~), whenever her hair reaches past the floor, she'll cut it off and give it to her. Maybe I'll try some later. I mean, probably just hair, doesn't taste like marshmallow. Certainly enough to warrant a teenager that apparently ate whoever thought of themself as a sweet in this town to enjoy all the same, so that's that. 

I'm just here for some field research. When I displayed an interest in this world, Wild drilled me on the context based on the game she played. Then, she demanded I slip into a "cycle" without many troubles, whatever that means. I've kept my 5 don'ts that've served me well, and I think that it's due time for some in-depth field research. Let's go over it to start... Fluff-chan's currently getting ready for some event with the other residents. 

#1: Don't make assumptions about them on the first day.

This should be obvious. This helps make sure there aren't any unneeded fights right off the bat, nor no sour feelings onward. Because you know how hard it is to work with someone that you hate, or hates you. As I figured out in earlier, there's greater risk of throwing the task away if someone hates someone. And, just in case someone's hatred is actually beneficial to me, I can just drug them with an FFoid. Here's to hoping the Law is on MY side that time...!

It's November, but as I've seen, the weather is somehow perfect every time. It had rain, and snow from what I heard from my host. When I first arrived, I think they drugged my food. Wild told me about that. Of course, I gave my eyes a re-do to keep up a certain level of polish that would come IF I was able to be effected by it. 

In any case, I'll keep the people at arms length as I compile everything about them. Depending on her mood, she might ask me to go.

#2: Don't make assumptions about them on the first day.

This is also self-explanatory. In this line of work, you have to first learn everything about your host, until you springboard off of that to the others. At least one thing remains for sure: MaFlu just wants to live quietly. She works at a library in the Sweets District, and no one has the balls to ignore her if she shushes them. I guess she really is more reasonable compared to the others, but... Why would a perfectly reasonable person live life thinking you're food? Makes no sense to me... Ah, but I guess I'll figure out that secret later, hmm?! This is gonna be good! Hahaha, yeah! I'll squeeze the secrets out! Today, Fluff-chan... TOMORROW THE WORLD!!! 

I can just interact with the outside world through the library just fine. It's surprisingly a little busy. But typically, I just observe from a distance. There's one resident that I haven't seen, though. She's been talked about occasionally, and her name is apparently Chili. Wonder what's her deal? I ought to investigate that later on. And she handles it with her top-notch maturity. Ya don't hear that often. I'm sure when she hears my research plans, she'll be fine with it. It's been a work week, so I think I'll be fine now. Marshmallow Fluff just wants to live a quiet life. 

#3: Don't hurt anyone unprovoked.

Partially spring-boarding off the first one, but this should be obvious as well. Bitterness never helped anyone, and judging from what Wild told me, the people are surprisingly bitter, aha~ They might do anything to be able to spin me as the one in the wrong, so just to be safe, IF needed, we take them to the woods, knock them down for an opening for another attack, and call all my underlings to beat the shit out of them, and wipe their mind of most of the event. ...Hypothetically, of course. Honestly, I have nothing else to say about this. It's a boring rule, but a practical one. 

"Hey, Ms. Amazake... I'm sorry for not telling you this sooner, but today is the anniversary of Food Town's founding, and we'll all be celebrating later tonight at the Last Supper over at the Fruits District. Do you want to come along also?"

Oho? A party? That would make a damn good opportunity for field research. 

#4: Don't trust them if they don't know your name.

I think this speaks for itself. It's just common knowledge. When cutting deals with others, it's for the best. They don't know the first thing about you, what makes you think you can trust them on handling potentially dangerous work? Of course, a fake name should suffice if needed, but I do hate lying, so let's see. 

For a party, you'll be mingling with others, so your name would be tossed around a lot. But the "Last Supper"... I never heard of something like that. Was there even a restaurant with that name before? How odd. ANYWAYS... Think of all the deals you could cut with others! Mingling with such nice, easygoing, pliable people... Ain't it fun? To fantasize about the possibilities? No? Oh, YOU'LL understand soon enough... I can collect aaaaaannnnyyyyything I want on them, and they can't do shit about it! Let's hope to God they aren't boring. 

Fluff-chan is chatty despite appearances, so most know my name already.

#5: Don't abandon your friends. No matter what.

I'm alone, so...

"Yeah sure, why not." I finally responded. A good joint requires 3 things: Men, meat, and myself. I've seen men, nothing that would catch my eye, but men are men, and I'll take it. It's a restaurant, so it would realistically have meat, but we'll see for sure. I'm going, so that's all 3 on the list, it's a good joint.

She seemed relieved a little when I said that. Heading back to her room, she came back with a bow. It matches the one she wears, but the white stripe is red. I am NOT gonna wear that up, but...

I yanked it from her hands, and wore it like a tie. Shrugging, she then picked up her telephone.

"Hey, Passion Fruit. I'll be bringing another guest with me, so plan accordingly... Yes, thank you. Goodbye."

Wait... Who the hell is Passion Fruit?! Another variable... but this won't be a fatal error. Just a variable.
