Hey kiddos, I hope you're having a great day!
Hard to believe I've been back at this blog again for 4 months already! I've been working really hard to keep the queue full and going for everyone, so I hope that effort shows!
I try not to do much self-promotion on this blog because I get a weird sense of guilt for doing so for some reason, but today is my birthday, so I think I'm allowed a little self-promo lol as a treat
I want to say first off, thank you all again for all the engagement, be it from comments, tags or especially reblogging my posts! It means a lot since I do this blog for you guys!
So if you like the work I do here, and or my other work/art and you can - please consider supporting me!
I have a Patreon where I post; early access art - and I talk at more length about the pieces/processes, exclusive weekly WIPs where I talk about long term projects and goals, linearts of finished pieces, and exclusive access to my sketchbooks from HS forward, as well as anatomy studies I don't post publicly!
If you don't want to subscribe monthly to my Patreon, consider dropping me a Ko-fi now and then!
If you're not the donation kind; I do take on commissions randomly when asked, I just don't advertise it as much because I work 40 hours a week on a swing shift, so I'm not as fast as I use to be! But I still enjoy taking 'em!
If nothing else, again - thank you for the support and sticking around!
That's all, thanks guys! Have a great rest of your week, and we'll see you Saturday at the usual spot!
#self promotion#the xigbro speaks#signal boost#donations#happy birthday to your local Xig-mun#also any sharing of this post too today would be awesome since Tumblr suppresses posts with links in them especially#Mama Kat loves you all very much - thank you again!!#I really need to list those charms on E/tsy...

Behind The Scenes...
Imperial Palace, Glimmerbrooke, 3:50pm
Kat: So that means Thursday night is just myself and the Prince, which means you can cook up here again, but unfortunately, we have the Minister’s dinner Friday night, so that’ll be a big to-do, and you'll have to cook downstairs in the big executive kitchen. You can hire any extra staff you'll need.
Chef Arlene: I’ve already prepped a menu for that, if you want to take a look.
Kat: The new Minister of Defense is so finicky, he can’t eat just about anything- or doesn’t like to.
Chef: Well… you know I love a challenge.
Kat: I’ll have Vera get you his list of “allergies” as soon as we’re done here.
Chef: Is he capable of defending the Empire if he can’t defend his own gut?
Kat: I don’t think he’ll last very long, but you didn’t hear that from me.
Chef: Of course *laughs*
Kat: *laughs* I have to remain neutral, remember?
Chef: My lips are sealed, Ma’am.
Rose: Mama?
Kat: Just a moment, darling.
Chef: Your Imperial Highness.
Kat: Then Saturday night is a rather fancy dinner but it’s just myself and the Prince, the Crown Princess and Mr. Marin, and the Prime Minister and her wife.
Chef: Do they have any dietary preferences like the Minister of Defense?
Rose: Mama, can I speak with you, please?
Kat: Just a second, Rosie, please? No, they’re really easy.
Chef: I made Selvadoradan cookies, Your Imperial Highness, if you’d like to try some?
Rose: No, thank you, Arlene.
Kat: Anyways, then Sunday is the usual family dinner, with the usual guests. And of course then starting Monday, you all have the week off.
Chef: It’s very exciting.
Kat: I’m excited too. Yes, Rosie, what did you need?
Rose: Can… can we talk alone?
Kat: I’ve got a lot on my plate, my love, can we hustle so I can go through the menu with Chef Suki?
Rose: I just… I wanted to ask permission.
Kat: What for?
Rose: To go back to Selvadorada, to Ramses. The war is over, and everything is at peace. Travel has opened up again, and I would like to go home.
Kat: I don’t want to go through this again with you.
Rose: Mama, please, everything is safe now.
Kat: I’ve already made my decision. You are not going to Selvadorada.
Rose: Mama-
Kat: We are going to Selvadorada.
Rose: …. What?
Kat: We leave on Monday, the whole family, we’re taking the Imperial Yacht and making it a vacation.
Rose: What??
Kat: You, me, your father, Ophelia and Luke, Ben and Taylor, we’re all going down there.
Rose: You’re serious?
Kat: We want to celebrate you, and the end of the war. And by the end of next week, you’ll be married.
Rose: What?!
Kat: You had already planned pretty much everything with Queen Anaid, I just reached out to her and we’ve been putting the finishing touches on everything secretly, to give you this big surprise.
Rose: Oh Mama!!
Kat: I’m sorry I kept you here and in the dark for so long. I’m so proud of you and your loyalty and commitment.
Rose: Thank you, Mama, thank you thank you thank you!

episode seven- somewhere only we know:
• kat in present day in white witch clothes! exciting!
• she’s gonna bring back MODERN MEDICINE!?
• that just. can’t lead to good things
• there’s a lot happening!!
• alice finally tell kat to please stay for dell, kat only focused on jacob, dell getting another mysterious phone call, everyone is leaving alice behind
• a dell racing somewhere on the horse and kat running through the woods parallel
• would be crazy if they were both going to the pond
• OH MY GOD THEYRE BOTH AT THE POND 😰
• ohp mama mad
• more importantly dell what are YOU doing
• omg the mayor called dell to complain about the founders day edition of the herald 😭😭😭
• ELLIOT TRIED HIS BEST OKAY
• alice you know you taking the blame is not better right 😭
• thank god kat is taking some responsibility
• i don’t want kat and dell to fight please 🤧
• saved by the bell - or knock rather
• sam 🙄
• ugh i hate that kat is right about keeping the jacob stuff from dell until they are for sure for sure
• sam no one wants to go to a gallery rn read a room
• “just so we’re clear, one moonlight swim doesn’t mean i want to be one of your girls” yes thank you for thinking clearly rn
• “noted. and just to be even clearer, i was asking as a friend.” no you weren’t 🤨
• back to the fighting ):
• ooh perhaps some insight to the lingermore incident?
• dell always covering for kat to keep up the reputation of the landry name is unfortunately very real.
• “you are hiding something. and i wanna know what it is.” […] “can you just trust that i know what i’m doing?” “given our history? no.” i MEAN she got you there kat
• “well maybe it’s just better for the both of us if i go” why is that always your first option! it didn’t work the first time!
• and dell is too proud to back down.
• elliot at the pond!
• “i have to go back and bring him home, alive.” i’m just not sure that’s gonna work!
• “i know. i just- i want you to be safe” he’s so worried he’s not even trying the ‘that worked so well the last time’ argument.
• elliot doesn’t think the pond will allow the modern medicine and i agree
• oh my god i thought we were gonna get a katelliot i love you. 😮💨
• i’ll take a good luck though
• oh look the medicine came back up
• NICK!? in the present day???? hello????
• nick taking interest in the landry’s boat. likely thing for him to do.
• “i guess that makes me sound kinda old, huh?” a little 😪
• “i have to.. get ready for school.” “on saturday?” “work!” alice please get it together
• - 1814 -
• not coyle waiting by the pond.
• he and suzanna were both kinda casual about this. not what i was expecting from 1814
• lol kat walking right past him offering help
• “i’ll take you to jacob” “how is he?” “you’ll see” okay don’t love that answer
• “goodwin has everyone in town looking for the witch who hexed him. you be safer as a man.” suzanna JUST stopped calling her clothes manly 😪
• - present day -
• LOL nick scaring elliot
• was going to say how did he get in, but port haven doesn’t give ‘lock your front door’ type of city
• oh nvm he found the spare key 🤪
• forgot nick was engaged
• nick was a genuine surprise bc they didn’t even give him a section of the previously on before the ep
• boys weekend 😀
• he’s just proud of his boy and wants to make up for missing his founders day speech 🥹
• [DAWG. i had. so much typed and i switched apps to check something and tumblr refreshed and i lost it allllll😭😭😭😭. and it’s too late tonight to go all the way back in the ep so i guess i’ll stop here and watch it all again tomorrow 🙃🙃]
• [okay it’s been a couple of days but i’m back 🤧]
• actually i think watching this section again will be fine bc i’ve probably forgotten most of what happened
• - 1814 -
• we’ve got jacob in the lighthouse
• coyle please ofc katherine knows about the trapdoor. the lighthouse is kinda her thing
• ohp. okay bye.
• oh suzanna’s there (yall. i was spelling her name right the first time, but now i’ve come too far i’m not changing it back sorry)
• i just think coyle could’ve said ‘hey i gotta stay out here but suzanna’s in there with a light dw’ or something before closing that trap door
• katzanna hug!!!
• (TWH twitter posted about kat and suzanna and all the interactions were about katzanna lmaooo)
• jacob is unwell
• yeah idk why katherine is so worried. suzanna is literally magic
• here we go again sending katherine back into the fields 😭
• - present day -
• nick and elliot at the point.
• how does seeing alice at the point not give nick even a sense of deja vu or something. like she literally looks the same !!
• “did she have a 12-year-old put this paper together?” LMAO ELLIOT TRIED OKAY ADOBE IS HARD 😭
• evelyn has been reclused since The Incident 17 years ago.
• (which means whatever happened there, alice was born a year later which is WILD)
• some more vague statements to add to the lore of lingermore.
• lingerlore, if you would.
• they keep blaming “the kids” but i have a feeling some 20somethings we know and love and their time traveling friend may have been there too 👀
• a classic rita and dell porch swing sit 😌
• “do the hinges on my barn look rusty?” is that a euphemism 🫣
• LOL WAIT rita just said the same thing
• sam horse boy CANCELLED his date with rita 😤
• “apparently he’s serious about someone and off the market” get a job!! stay away from her!!!
• he better not get between rita and dell. i need that “shut up byron!” energy back
• (where is he btw…)
• back at the coffee shop.
• ooh! asking monica about The Incident. she’s messy she’ll tell us
• oof even former nemesis monica isn’t ratting on what kat someone did that night
• cool guy!
• “did you know anything about that party? lingermore, 2007?” “well i was one in 2007, so no.” oh!
• don’t encourage breaking and entering, cool guy (although technically no breaking if you have the key…)
• - 1814 -
• (i mostly remember my thoughts during this scene but i’ll be pretending they are new 😁)
• “do you even know what you’re doing?” “i know every inch of these woods.” that’s not what she asked coyle that’s two different things
• water hemlock feels like a surprise tool that’s gonna help us later…
• “you think that i’m actually a witch?” girl yes you jumped into a pond and didn’t come back for two days 😭
• DON’T put you hand over her mouth to shush her 😤 only suzanna is allowed to do that
• the witch hunters are coming
• i don’t love this trope-y ‘we both fell and now our faces are really close’ thing that’s happening here 🤨
• “when we find the witch, we’ll have ourselves a little bonfire” i TOLD YOU they would burn you at the stake, katherine
• you better BACK those lips up actually
• “i’m not a witch. i’m a time traveler” you see how that’s not better right 😭
• coyle is right to laugh that’s a ridiculous thing to say
• “don’t you want to know what happens in the future?” “fine. go on then.” “i probably shouldn’t. just for your sake.” “are you always this confounding or is it something i bring out in you?”* no, believe it or not she’s always like this 😪
• *in any other circumstance, that line would eat but i can’t be on board with this sorry
• “if you’re from the future like you say, there’s only one thing i’d like to know. who wins this blasted war?” if it was me i’d have to be like ‘aha ha funny story…. i actually don’t know. i’ll have to google that 😁’
• i should google it anyways bc what do you mean it ends in a draw 😭
• - present day -
• nick elliot dell !!
• nick interested in buying the boat. likely thing for him to be
• “you’d like to have that old thing?” “she deserves to be restored and brought back to life.” okay symbolism and metaphor
• man elliot can’t fix an engine can’t design a newspaper 😭 he’s got a lot of other great attributes i swear
• hey nick. shouldn’t you be putting your focus, time, and money, into, i don’t know? a wedding? 🤨
• sam’s here. again.
• the double take and look to dell elliot does 😭
• the herald!
• “you really looked at this layout and thought, ‘yep, this is ready to go out into the world’?” CAN THEY LIVE
• alice at the microfiche. likely place for her to be
• listen if they don’t want alice snooping they should just. answer her questions directly instead of being weird about it!
• “if something so bad did happen then how did it not make the news?” she’s right bc they once ran a story about a big cucumber
• “where’s the fire, nancy drew?” is that a saying? 😭😂
• physical archives! ofc!
• the story was pulled (probably bc dell threatened some people 👀)
• ooh photo negatives
• do they even know what those are 😪
• they’re holding them up to the light like they do. so i guess they’re safe for now
• close face trope strikes again
• hey isn’t cool guy already 18 🤨📸
• (i’m so sorry cool guy i really can’t remember your name rn…)
• - 1814 -
• thomas coyle: lighthouse keeping age. 🤧
• “so smuggling doesn’t pay the bills? 😬” humbled real quick
• jacob is stirring
• i’m so worried 1814 jacob isn’t going to remember being 8 years old with a sister in 1999 and kat is going to have to face the fact that he isn’t her jacob anymore ):
• suzanna immediately reassuring katherine (and me) that jacob’s reaction is bc of his fever, not kat 🥺
• “i don’t know what to do!” chyler is so good at making those little lines hit 😮💨
• oof all the illegal rum… not the best time to remember why we’re here in the first place
• oh the beach scene…
• CHYLER LEIGH THE ACTRESS THAT YOU ARE!!!!!
• let’s get her an emmy fr fr
• anyways let’s go back to the top of this scene so i can give my thoughts
• okay the first time i watched this i was kinda agreeing with coyle bc yeah it’s a different time blah blah. but this would not be the first time a landry man’s name would be wrongfully sullied. and colton wasn’t a cheater, so maybe jacob isn’t a thief!
• and like do i trust the smuggler saying the smuggling wasn’t his idea??
• “he’s the reason that hidden room even exists” the room is there bc little jacob knew about it bc it was there in ‘99 bc it was built by grown jacob in 1814 who knew about it bc it was there in ‘99 i-
• “the jacob i know, he’s smart and he’s creative and he’s kind” he’s a LANDRY GODAMMIT
• “he can be all of those things and still lie and cheat and steal” men really think that huh
• “he has a responsibility to his family” “I AM HIS FAMILY” TELL EM
• “then why are you judging him so harshly.” and this is why i don’t know if i believe coyle. bc kat was so determined that colton was not cheating, but she never judged him? there’s gotta be something else going on for her not to believe there’s a reasonable explanation for whatever is happening
• idk
• “jacob is dying! and i might never get to know him and he’s not gonna know me after all this time. and i have to know him, do you understand me?” thisssss read!!!!!!! come ooon. 🥺🥺
• (also the first time i watched this ep, my little brother was home for spring break and was leaving the next day… oof it got me.)
• why is he LIFTING HER
• what is it with men thinking the ocean will fix the landry women (lowkey kind right but still)
• i thought he was gonna kiss her so i guess lifting is the better option here
• actually katherine probably really needs this big cry. and being in the arms of a hot guy with an old timey accent doesn’t hurt either.
• [this is where i lost my notes last time!]
• AH sam jumpscare ( - present day - )
• not dinner and a fire dell get UP
• oh sam has daughters
• am i being too bitter about sam? maybe. but it’s fun.
• did i compare him to miguel from this is us or was that byron…. either way.
• bc we’re humanizing him with all this “i met somebody really special, right here, and i don’t want her to think she’s just one of many”
• let’s not forget that he dated rita first. where are your girl code ethics delly
• that’s right let him down easy
• “i’m just enjoying getting to know my neighbor” shut up
• (this is so out of character for me bc i’m number one hags in love advocate but sorry i’m not over the death of colton landry yet! it’s only been 25 years!)
• boys weekend ending the same way sam and dell’s night did we love a platonic firepit chat
• (but really we do. need to be outside by a fire IMMEDIATELY)
• “sore-ry” canadian 🫵🏽
• rip claire and nick we hardly knew ye 😪 (ship name click how could he let that go!)
• elliot’s/evan’s little “no!” was so cute.
• hmm someone who lives on a boat is not ideal husband material????? 🤨 i’ll keep my thoughts to myself but iykyk
• “maybe sometimes love just isn’t enough” woah woah woah lets not get crazy here, guys. they needed this boys weekend for real 🤧
• - 1814 -
• *opens on katherine beach bonfire* ‘oh everybody is at a fi-’ *coyle walks up* ‘everybody is at a platonic fire tonight’
• “what if i never get the chance to really know him” you do know him, katherine. i promise
• “i’ve lost two brothers” okay well it’s not a contest
• “losing jacob would be like losing a third” we’re humanizing him now too!?
• “how could i be so close, yet so far?” “jacob once asked me that very same question” yep yep yep
• “about the stars” oh we are back on track baby!!
• “i told him the distance, whether it’s from stars or from people, is not the thing to worry about. worry when you can’t find them at all. […] don’t lose sight of those stars just yet.” okay he got me. beautiful line 😭
• - present day -
• oh cool guys name is noah! how could i forget
• [also just said, ‘noah? i hardly know ‘er!’ and made myself giggle so. that’s where i am.]
• wow going “old school” with a phone call how 2000s of her
• god alice this voicemail is going from bad to worse quit while you’re barely ahead
• yep ofc you sent the message instead of deleting it. (how does one delete a voicemail not that i’d ever leave one but)
• LOL NICK JUST STANDING THERE ON THE BOAT 🧍🏼
• again how does he not realize his alice is this alice. she’s exactly the same.
• - 1814 -
• suzanna watching over her landrys 🥹
• sleeping on the floor in 1814 is not going to be good for katherine’s back.
• h a n d s
• see coyle was working with suzanna’s father and then tried to BRIBE her after he died to keep the business going! how am i supposed to believe jacob did this on his own
• also suzanna is not safe here! these men just want to use her!
• jacob is coughing? choking? seizing? hard to say but something is happening!
• and not even suzanna knows how to help him 😰
• JACOB TO THE POND!?
• “it doesn’t matter what happens to me.” i mean i think it matters a little bit….
• also what a cop out ‘wHaT iF tHeY cAtCh uS?’o kay be better at sneaking???
• YEAH forgot about your DAUGHTER 🤨
• a lot of touchy feely going on here that i don’t love….
• pete’a there are horses he’a 😧
• i know he’s telling her to go back to the cellar so she’s not seen by goodwin’s men but i still don’t trust him
• “just promise me that you’ll be careful” “now what fun would that be?” i don’t trust him but damn he’s good
• - present day -
• the point!
• oh no. rita. please don’t break my besties up
• please!! leave the newspaper alone i can’t keep defending them 😭
• hey why didn’t they ask kacey to help they literally WORKED at the herald. 🙃
• sam is here
• wait rita is taking this surprisingly well.
• she even got me kicking my feet twirling my hair i love besties!!!!
• and dell is 🤏🏽 this big 🤭
• “well if nothing else, he’s got great taste in women” IKTR
• “i am more than okay with this” well i’m not! almost caught me monologuing 😤
• not the coffee shop hard launch please the herald will be badly printing you two on the front page by tomorrow morning!!!!
• actually yes string this man along and get free labor out of him
• omg the colton fakeout
• yeah girl that’s your GUILT 🤧
• ITS ONLY BEEN 25 YEARS DELLY
• back to present day nick and alice
• “i don’t know what’s wrong with me.” felt
• i don’t know where i thought the engine of a boat would be but i was wrong
• “you’ve got plenty of time to figure it all out” “it’s funny bc time never really seems to be on my side. ever.” okay no one told you to fall for someone in 1999 in fact, they told you specifically not to 😭
• “i always seem to fall for the ones i can’t actually be with.” “trust me, i know how what that feels like, especially at your age” wow they really were the greatest story that could never be told ):
• “if you think someone’s worth it, tell them how you feel. there’s no point in hiding it” AND COOL GUY PULLS UP??? okayyyyy
• the worth it look 🥺🥺🥺
• alice actually happy COMING 🔜
• well. until we figure out the lingermore thing…..
• - 1814 -
• i don’t believe goodwin is smart enough to think about the lighthouse. someone must’ve told him 🤨
• jacob is literally fighting for his life 🤧 this wouldn’t have been a problem if coyle had stopped yappin and helped them take jacob to the pond like katherine wanted
• katzanna crumbs 🤌🏽
• how big is the inside of a light house… there’s a lot of stomping up there. all the stairs probably?
• a GUN SHOT !? 😨
• forgot suzanna had a knife. all katherine has is like 30 bottles of rum
• i mean ofc it’s thomas. i wasn’t worried about that.
• but what was the gun shot about???? that’s kinda suspicious right???
• like let’s make them think we fought and i shot you 🤨
• mmm “cyrus giving the all clear” likely story
• “we’re all safe” well except for jacob. who is dying.
• - present day -
• noah said lemme run to bestbuy right quick and get a scanner
• “the program’s pretty simple” well that’s what we said about adobe and now no one will let them live that down
• wait a BOY in your ROOM, alice!? 😟
• doors open tho ✋🏽
• “music?” “sure! any requests?” “no, just hit play. let’s see what you’re listening to” OKAYYYY that would work on me 🫣
• also so mortifying.
• I WANT IT THAT WAY LMAO
• she’s not like other girls she’s quirky she loves late 90s early 2000s music bc she was there
• can’t lie that’s exactly the kind of song that would come up if i just hit play
• what are the chances cool guy knows all the words bc of that brooklyn 99 cold open
• “my mom’s a superfan” making alice feel like the crypt keeper here
• 🎶now number five🎶
• LMAO WAIT THE “PROGRAM” IS LITERALLY STILL ADOBE
• they’re really gonna have a ‘number five killed my brother. oh god i forgot about that’ moment with these pictures aren’t they
• oh no dell’s home she gonna be mad at alice
• ‘uh grandma we weren’t ALONE my former boyfriend nick was literally outside the whole time???’
• “good news i got the engine running” and there’s the wrap up of that metaphor
• whatever let’s move on
• dell’s not selling the boat !! take THAT
• tell me why is still playing in the background and i can’t decide if it’s funnier if it’s non-diegetic and they just wanted us to have a nice bop for this, or if it’s diegetic and alice is just playing her music that loud
• LOL she’s just playing her music that loud 😭😭😭
• ‘uh grandma we weren’t ALONE my former boyfriend nick was literally outside the whole time and my window was open???’
• “is that alice singing?” oh my god is he gonna recognize her
• i’ve been saying it this whole time but the moment it’s actually a possibility i literally gasped out loud
• “isn’t she something?” “unforgettable” NICK
• omg omg.
• KISSING
• IN THE BED ROOM
• YOU’RE GONNA GIVE YOUR GRANDMOTHER A HEART ATTACK oh okay she didn’t come in
• oh cool guy is sorry…. but he has a reason. a reason we will not know bc the pictures are ready 😁
• “wait is that blood” the lingerlore plot THICKENS
• number five killed my brother fr
• blood! and a mask! a different one from earlier!

📺: the way home - season two
season one recap 🩵
episode one - the space between:
• watching the ‘previously on’ like i didn’t just spend the week recapping it
• thought this was jacob and dell but it’s just another little boy and older lady
• “it will always take you where you need to go.” 👀
• picking up where season one left off. kat and dell were literally JUST healing and now where back to murder boarding
• oh we’re just immediately jumping into the FROZEN pond
• it didn’t work!
• kat you know that’s not how it works !! just get out before you freeze!!!
• oh god now alice is in the pond
• and YEAH we’re BENEATH THE ICE
• ALICE
• KAT DONT YOU KNOW CPR
• CHEST COMPRESSIONS
• oh god alice is back okay
• so much just happened oh my god
• a note for kat on elliot’s door ):
• me and elliot squabbin the next time i see him 😤
• (did anyone else’s school use the word squab around like 2015?? 2016??)
• “if i’ve learned anything these last few months it’s the worst thing to waste is time.” i gUESS!
• now how can a dog time travel 😭 the pond is SICK for that
• “the pond is done with us, allie. we have to be done with it.” we’ll see
• they’re making a pact to stay in the present
• time jump! seven months laterrrr
• hello?? DECODE PARAMORE?!?!
• and kat is jogging through the woods like is this twilight???
• passed elliot’s (still empty) house. hayley williams is right, how did we get here 😭
• ofc kat is listening to decode she’s an emo millennial
• if you think about it this kinda is like twilight. she’s gonna jump off a cliff next probably
• dell landry: bee keeping age!!!
• where’d the horse come from? 🤨
• “hey, boy. who are you?” oh so neither of us know okay
• oh! it’s the last day of school!
• not spencer from school pulling up
• and maybe zoe from school? hard to say
• alice is leaving!? oh going to the states with brady
• “that’s the thing about shared custody, eventually you have to share.” rip /:
• ugh r*chel mention
• “i am screening your next guy! these last two, they’ve been so very disappointing.” LAST TWO!?
• oh she meant brady and elliot 😂
• “brady only disappointed in the later years. we don’t.. we don’t talk about elliot.” yeah still too soon formerly nemesis monica
• lol so new guy leaves (suspiciously 🤨) and kat is like “okay fiiine i’ll take over the herald and hire myself back!! if i must!!!”
• and good for her!
• oh someone’s died 😰
• evelyn goodwin??
• oldest member of the most prestigious (and wealthiest) family in port haven. an institution, dell says!
• linger?more?
• oh elliot has the AUDACITY to send post cards 😤
• yeah, alice you’re right to roll your eyes at him!!
• we’re getting so much landry lore!
• but also more evidence for my jacob is his own ancestor theory
• the landrys were a founding family of port haven with the aforementioned goodwins
• dell talking about HAPPY MEMORIES OF COLTON!!!! 🥹

hoshi; vowels and veracity (m)
summary: after a blind date that makes you feel like a giddy teenager all over again, you’re forced to grow up and take a chance when you realize that special someone is your daughter’s kindergarten teacher. pairing: teacher!soonyoung x single mother!reader genre/warnings: fluffity fluff nuggets, humor, a lil bit of angst when yn panics, *steve rogers voice* language! alcohol, unprotected sex (wrap the pickle before u tickle), face sitting w/c: 5.2k a/n: i really have nothing to say about this but i’ve been thinking about going back to school all week so this manifested. enjoy a lil sexy but sweet hosh💕
“Y-you,” another giggle and the press of wet lips to the sensitive spot of your neck, “stop, Soonyoung! I’m ticklish there!”
You feel a pout imprint itself in the sweet spot between your ear and your jaw, and you sigh at the rumble of his lips against your skin, “But you taste so sweet, baby,” he croons, and you’re practically melting between the door with how much Soonyoung has pressed himself against you, all of himself.
“What if I don’t wanna stop, pretty girl?” he husks against your soft skin, whispering things in your ear that aren’t for the faint of heart. In your haste to keep a firm grip, one hand goes to his clothes and the other nips at the undercut of his midnight black hair, “what if I just open the door right now and we slip right in, and then I slip right in you?”
Your breath hitches and suddenly your core feels like a timebomb, ready to combust.
Go on a date, Joshua says. He’s a sweet guy, Joshua says. He’s a friend of Joshua’s, so you know going into this blind date that at the very least, he wasn’t a serial killer. But what Joshua failed to tell you going into this was how much Kwon Soonyoung packed and how much of a temptor in disguise he is.
“I really would love to invite you in,” it looks like it pains Soonyoung to admit this, as he presses his forehead to yours and the edge of his fingers dig into your crushed emerald velvet number, “but tomorrow’s the first day of work and I am not emotionally prepared. But, I do want to see you again. I had a great time.”
The previous mood melting into the night sky, you reluctantly let go of the lapels of his tweed blazer. Unable to suppress your crestfallen smile you nod, “That’s fine,” you reply, inching away from him to send him a pointed look, “I wouldn’t have gone inside anyway. I don’t put out on the first date,” you cross your arms in an attempt to feign nonchalance.
Which isn’t a lie, although if Soonyoung had asked you two minutes ago to come inside for a cup of tea, you wouldn’t have argued. He is just that tempting. Said date raises an eyebrow in response, tucking a strand of loose hair behind your ear at the defiance in your eyes. “Oh?” he echoes, “then what date do you put out?”
“Date seven.”
“Lucky seven,” he grins, “so if we go on a date every day this week by Friday we should be good to go. How do you feel about steak?”
You slap his shoulder in his response, and the giggle that erupts from his lips in response has you feeling dizzy and giddy with excitement. Soonyoung has you feeling like a college freshman all over again, floating like Cloud 9 and drunk in anticipation. You peck one, two more kisses on his lips. He tastes like the peach champagne you shared and his own scent as he pulls you in for a much longer, much hotter kiss.
“Good luck on your first day,” you mumble against his lips, vaguely remembering that he’s a teacher in a school nearby.
“Mm, text me when you get home,” and with a final kiss to your forehead he unlocks his door, leaving you warm and full of heart-eyes on his front porch.
The walk home, more like float home, has you feeling all parts exhausted and hopeful for the days to come. For the first time in a long time you feel young and unbridled, thrumming with excitement. Now you’re just playing with your phone, waiting to exchange goodnight texts.
“Nari’s asleep,” when you walk into your shared apartment, you spot a sleepy Seungkwan on his laptop and sprawled across your couch. “How was it?”
“It was reealllly nice,” you’re still a little wine tipsy, drunk on the taste of Merlot and a certain someone’s kisses, “he was really sweet, and surprisingly sexy.”
“Did you get dicked down?” Seungkwan asks only the most important questions.
You scoff, flopping down on the couch next to him, “As if, we have work in the morning.”
“Speaking of work, are you sure you’re not able to drop off Nari to school tomorrow? It’s her first day of kindergarten.”
“I can’t,” saying it feels absolutely awful, but a single mother has to work extra hard to keep her and her daughter happy.
“It’s fine,” Seungkwan easily waves you off and runs a hand through his fluffy auburn hair, “her favorite Uncle is there, anyway.”
“Hey,” you lightly punch his arm, “I’ve already talked Nari through it. I’m cooking a big breakfast tomorrow—chocolate chip pancakes, duh, and taking a million pictures before we have to part ways. I packed a little Kit-Kat for her lunch with a sweet note. When I come back in time for dinner I promised her pizza from her favorite parlor and she can tell me everything about her day.”
“So, you’re bribing her with food.”
“Sue me, it’s every parent’s weak spot.”
Seungkwan stretches his arms, cradling you between his chest. You sigh into his clean linen scent, feeling sleepy. “Yeah, I’ve bribed her with my Switch once or twice,” he admits softly, eyes also drooping, “but you’re a great mother regardless. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything tomorrow.”
“Thanks, Kwannie,” you sigh, feeling more at ease.
Nari is the light of you and Seungkwan’s life. Five years ago, you promised yourself that if you were more than financially stable and still sick with baby fever, you would adopt. You didn’t want to find a romantic partner for the sole purpose of having a child, you could easily do that on your own. And that you did, you researched and visited foster homes off in the countryside.
In a little town off the coast of the shore was where you met Nari, only six months old and full with cherub cheeks and eyes that sparkled like the moon and stars. You fell in love with her instantly. Fast forward five years later and she’s the reason you wake up every morning and work hard every day. Seungkwan being your best friend, also wanted rights as the godfather and therefore is also part of your perfect family picture.
You and Seungkwan sleep warmly tonight, both excited to share yet another year of Nari’s milestones.
“And then Mr. Kwon said I was an ‘ace’ with my vowels!” Nari has a string of cheese hanging from her chin, and you don’t bat an eye as you reach to pat it away with a napkin.
“I wouldn’t expect any less, baby,” you coo, carding a hand through her hair so her bangs don’t get caught in her meal, “remember when mommy and Uncle Kwannie taught you the vowels this summer? We sang that song.”
“Yes! I sang the same song and showed everyone how ‘ta do it,” your heart is swelling with pride, and you fight the urge to tear up because Seungkwan’s already showing signs of waterworks from his side of the table, “I read a book Mr. Kwon gave me today and he said he’s so impressed I read at a Level B.”
You quirk your brows at the new jargon. You certainly don’t know what it means to be a Level B, but it makes Nari happy and that’s all that matters. Wiping the orange grease off her lips, you muse that you must get in contact with her teacher one of these days.
“What’s a Level B?” Seungkwan similarly looks stumped at the new vocabulary.
“I don’t know!” Nari shrugs, but nevertheless her teacher’s attention has her glowing.
You giggle, “I’m so happy for you, baby.”
“I’m excited to go back tomorrow, I made a new friend! His name is Jeonghan and he helped me with my numbers today. He called my bows cute.”
“Cute?” Seungkwan perks up from his stupor, “of course you’re cute, Nari. So cute that you’re too good for this Jeonghwan boy.”
“Jeonghan, Uncle Kwannie,” she pouts when Seungkwan scoffs, in favor of shoving half a slice in his mouth. She turns to you, tugging on your blazer, “Mama, can I go watch TV now? I finished my homework and I wanna see the new Ladybug and Cat Noir!”
“Of course,” you pull away her plate, gesturing for her to go to the living room.
“Thank you mama,” and she’s bouncing off her seat, pushing her chair in and off to watch Miraculous Ladybug.
You sigh, “They grow up so fast.”
Seungkwan’s eyes widen at your age-old phrase, the words reminding him oddly of his parents when they used to talk down to him. “And here we are, aging twice as fast,” Seungkwan bemoans, already starting to feel the greasy food settle in his stomach. “We used to eat a whole pie! We could eat absolute garbage back in college and here I am weak at two slices—oh my god, am I having a ‘back in my day’ moment? We need to go out. I need to go out. I’ve been practicing consonants and vowels all day. I need a boyfriend,” he playfully narrows his eyes at you, “I need a boyfriend like yours, sweet and sexy.”
“Sorry,” you stick out your tongue, “but he’s mine.”
Perfect timing, Soonyoung’s name pops up on your phone. You two have been texting sporadically throughout the day, making plans for your next date. The two of you are going to watch a drive-in movie, a situation that screams teenage-back-of-the-truck-sex but the movie is a much anticipated favorite of yours and you genuinely want to watch it.
Soonyoung is full of humor and laughs, getting you to smile and relax at the right times during work and always manages to keep you on your toes whenever he says something flirtatious.
“Are you gonna introduce him to Nari?”
You stop typing, and look up towards your beautiful little girl in the living room. Her hair is out of her pigtails, drooping tiredly like she is. Her cheek is pressed against her favorite plush cat, fighting for consciousness because she’s waiting for Marinette to save the day. Your heart swells with affection.
“Dunno,” you shrug, trying not to think too hard about it, “we’re not that serious right now.”
You’re absolutely winded. You finished work early today, due to the fact that came in early so you could clock out and pick Nari up from school. Despite the fact that Nari says it’s okay for you not to pick her up, you can’t allow it and you want to be the one who she runs into when she comes out the door.
“Who do you think she’s gonna hug first?” Seungkwan’s elbowing you, baiting you. “Because this morning she gave me a hug and three kisses before I dropped her off.”
“Three?” you seethe in annoyance, “three kisses is our thing! Two on the cheek and one on the forehead!”
The two of you slowly steep together, waiting for the colorful blue door to the kindergarten area to file out. The heel of your shoes are digging into the grass, probably making a needle-like indentation in the dirt as you struggle not to seep into the lawn. You feel like you’re going to flop on your heels, wishing you could go run back into the car and find your flip-flops from last month’s beach trip. But before you could debate on the run the bell rings, and you’re on livewire when you see the students start to file out.
Your smile grows ten-fold when you see Nari’s jaw drop in surprise, seeing you waiting for her. She fists whatever is in her hands in surprise, breaking into the cutest smile as she screams, “mama!”
And you’re ready to hold your arms out and throw her around in circles, until you see who follows right behind her.
Kwon Soonyoung is Nari’s kindergarten teacher. Kwon Soonyoung with his hair down and untextured, wearing a mint polo and looking nothing like the date you had the other night. He looks absolutely soft and so, you are weak.
Kwon Soonyoung, the sexy deviant who sends you questionable texts and sends you funny puppy videos, is staring right at you and utterly confused when Nari rams straight into your hip.
Momentarily distracted, you pepper your pretty daughter in kisses (all three of them, two cheeks and one forehead) and tell her how much you’ve missed her. Clearly she doesn’t miss you as much, as she’s waving around a picture she drew during playtime, one of her and Jeonghan in the sandbox.
“Really, Nari,” Seungkwan mutters under his breath, shamelessly vocalizing his opinion on a five-year old, “can’t you choose a different friend?”
“Seungkwan!” you chide, but he pointedly annoys you when Nari finally enters Seungkwan’s embrace. He takes extra time to cuddle her, obviously jealous that another boy has taken refuge in your little Nari’s heart.
The moment is so sweet and simple you have no choice but to revel in it and take out your phone to snap a photo.
“Mama!” she pops her head off of Seungkwan’s shoulder, “come meet Mr. Kwon!”
And she’s tugging your hand, only you’re much stronger and you stay firmly planted on the grass. Heck, you even sacrifice your shoes by digging your heels in for extra measure.Your eyes widen in panic, but Nari doesn’t notice because she’s paving a path of dirt with her lime green light-up sneakers, trying to get you to move. You nearly forgot your latest tryst is your daughter’s teacher, and you never told him you have a kid.
But within seconds, there’s an audible slam and the three of you are shattered from your bubble. Turning to the noise the heavy navy door is now locked shut, all the students dismissed for the day. The crowd is gone. Soonyoung is gone.
Seungkwan’s eyes dart between the closed door and you, the pieces clicking. His mouth forms a little ‘o’ and he nods in understanding. “He thinks I’m your baby daddy.”
The two of you point out each other like the Spiderman meme. “He thinks you’re my baby daddy,” you echo, horror marrying your face.
“Mama? What’s a baby daddy?”
“Shh, Nari—” he picks up Nari in one swoop, mouthing a go to you as he leads her to the car.
All alone on the grass, you panic as you watch your family grow smaller and smaller as they enter the parking lot. Soonyoung’s just behind that door, right? Looking left and right to assure no one is going to think you’re being that parent and harassing the teacher within the first week of school, you bound up the steps to knock on the door. Your knocks clang heavily, echoing against the building.
Ten seconds pass. Nothing.
You deflate, pulling out your phone to shoot Soonyoung a quick text.
You: hey, can you come out for a bit so i can explain? Please
A minute passes. He leaves you on read. Defeated, you slump against the door. This day is really a whirlwind on your mental state. All you wanted today was some extra time off work, Nari’s three kisses, and maybe a goodnight text from Soonyoung if you were lucky.
The door suddenly flips open, and you’re braced against someone’s hands.
“Whoa, you okay?”
Your face crumples in relief when it’s Soonyoung that’s come out to respond to you. He’s bracing your weight by holding your arms between his hands, although keeping a respectable distance between the upper half of your bodies. It makes you a little upset, but you understand. Once you’re stable, he lets you go and leans away from you.
“Why are you waiting out here?” he asks pointedly, looking at you up and down. You seem terribly overdressed in your coral pinstripe suit, mismatching with Soonyoung’s apple sauce stains.
“Why do you think I’m waiting out here?”
“And if I close the door again?” he retorts suddenly.
“Then I’ll follow you home.”
A beat passes, whatever expression he conveys on his face is practiced and primed. You have a terrible time trying to decipher his blankness. Working with kids probably does that to an adult. “Come in,” he says neutrally, and you wordlessly follow him into his classroom.
The room is decorated beautifully, with rainbows and glitter. It’s also surprisingly organized, all the crayons in place and the play area free of stray toys. Your eyes instantly search for Nari’s desk, and a small smile fits on your face as you trace her handmade name tag.
“Normally, I don’t let parents in my room until it’s Back to School Night,” Soonyoung says, leaning against his desk. It makes you terribly nervous, knowing the ball is in your court and he’s waiting for you to make a move. His carefree, easy going nature is nowhere to be found, and all you see is walls and a mean poker face. He pulls up the sleeves of his polo, exposing pale, strong arms. Your mouth waters a little (you can’t help it!) and you immediately reach for a bottle of water in your purse. “So, what is it you have to say?”
“Seungkwan’s not my baby daddy,” you blurt, and you immediately blanch when Soonyoung’s eyes widen. “Wow uh. I didn’t mean to say it like that.”
“But you did say it like that,” Soonyoung replies slowly, “no child just doesn’t give three kisses to someone who isn’t their father.”
“I only called him my baby daddy because he said it first,” you grumble, almost childishly, “and Nari’s a baby, of course she’s going to give three kisses to anyone that feeds her and coddles her.”
“It sounds like an excuse.”
“It sounds like I’m freaking out because you keep talking back and forth like this!” you cry, slapping your hands against your thigh. You don’t have to look in a mirror to know that you’re quickly getting annoyed, your face morphing into a shade of embarrassment. You can’t tell if this is amusing him or this is a real interrogation. “Let me explain, Soonyoung!”
He says your name slowly, deliberately. And then, “do you want to take a break in the Calm Down Corner?”
“The—the what?” Soonyoung’s eyes flicker to a corner at the far end of the room. The radiator is decorated in a sky blue wallpaper, and there’s a yoga mat on the floor. There are chairs next to a desk filled with coloring pages, decorated with fairy lights. Filling three of the chairs are various stuffed animals, a tiger, a cat, and a panda, all dressed as doctors. It’s a child’s therapy corner. “You gotta be kidding me.”
He raises a brow, and—is that a smile on his lips? “Then explain, why are you here?”
“Because I think I really like you,” you confess, frustration melting away to reveal the uneasy upturn on your lips. You lied when Seungkwan asked if you would ever consider introducing Soonyoung to Nari. In a different world, you would’ve loved to take the time to take Nari to the museum and introduce Soonyoung there. They’d definitely bond over their love for tigers. “Seungkwan is my best friend, and helps me take care of Nari. I adopted her five years ago.”
Something softens in Soonyoung’s eyes, and the air feels much more relaxed. But his dark brows remain knit together, and he looks at you with confused eyes. “Then if you like me so much, why didn’t you tell me you had a daughter?”
“Because kids can be deal breakers,” you admit, and the colorful classroom feels smaller as you hug yourself. “I just, wanted you to like me first.”
It’s the primary reason why it’s taken you so long to date. Sure, there’d be a fling here and there, but nothing that feels as tangible as Soonyoung is. You’re not old enough to find a partner that wouldn’t blink at the sign of children, yet you’re still at that weird age threshold where a partner could immediately run for the hills at the mention of one. Nothing will top Nari, she’s number one in your heart, but the small selfish part wanted you to put the focus on yourself for just one night.
“You don’t have to hide, I want every part of your life no matter how long we have,” he assures you gently, firmly without an ounce of regret. Soonyoung opens his arms, and you cry in relief when you get to collapse in the scent of his cologne. You tuck your head in the crook of his neck, slightly sweaty from whatever activities he needs to do with the kids, but you don’t mind. His voice is quiet, melting in your ears, “and I really like you too. I really like Nari as well, she’s a great kid.”
“She is, isn’t she?”
You two pull away, and he swipes a thumb under your eyes in case some tears manage to escape. “So, Friday? Movie?”
“It’s a date.”
“Where’s Nari?” the question is huffed against your breath as you’re pressed between your freshly washed bedspread and Soonyoung’s body. He takes care in making sure the zipper of your delicate dress doesn’t get caught in the rush, easily slipping your dress off and throwing it on your desk chair.
“At Seungkwan’s, why?”
His cheshire cat eyes glow under the moonlight, positively devious. “It’s date seven,” he announces sweetly. His gaze betrays his saccarine reply, a look that only tells you that Soonyoung plans to fuck you five ways to Sunday, and you’ll gladly let him.
You sit up on your elbows, enjoying the show as Soonyoung quickly sheds his clothing. It’s ungraceful, exciting. Tonight was a simple carnival date, easily making you feel like a giddy college student all over again. Soonyoung won you five Pokemon keychains today, you could put a whole party on your hand.
“It’s actually date six,” you tease, tilting your head as his pants finally come off, revealing black boxer briefs that snug deliciously around the waist.
“Oh, okay,” he looks at you like you’ve spoken God’s word, reaching to pick up his shirt, “so you don’t want my dick fucking you raw tonight? Okay, I see how it is,” he pretends to put on his clothing, jabbing a thumb out the door.
You have the audacity to giggle, pulling him over by the waistband, “Come here so I can make an exception.”
You don’t know what it is that makes you want you want to give everything to this man. Heck, five years ago you didn’t even want a man as an excuse to have kids. But as he nudges you in all the right places and places you on top of him, you know this man will treat you like an absolute treasure. Every kiss is laced with smiles and sweetness, filled with vigor and vivacity that fills you up and leaves you afloat.
He takes care of you first, unwilling to let you budge as he places your core over his face. He makes quick, but effective use of his tongue and fingers, making sure you’re nice and sensitive for his future plans. You’re practically throbbing with pleasure, vibrating from every cell of your body. Within minutes he’s glistening in your arousal, and he pulls you down so you’re lined up with his crotch. It’s involuntary when you pulse against his member, your body shamefully alerting you that it’s desperate with need, and the remedy is right under you.
Soonyoung looks more satisfied than you, eager to please you. Without warning, he stuffs two fingers in your mouth, “You pretty, pretty girl,” you are keen at the attention, your body is glowing a radiant rose.
Your tongue rolls against his fingers, sticky and tasting of your arousal. Tilting your hips up you let Soonyoung pull his member out, lining it against your entrance. Feeling the soft tip brush against your delicate folds, you moan against his mouth. With a little ‘pop’ he releases you, lips shiny and parted.
“I hope you don’t think I’m some kind of hit-it-n’quit-it kind of guy,” he noses the sensitive spot of your jawline, which distracts you momentarily when the plush tip nudges your folds, coaxing you to unite. “Because after tonight, I’m definitely keeping you. Forever.”
The reply that dances on your tongue is overtaken by your whines when Soonyoung slips in fully, forcing your body to clench tightly against his. You take him, all of him. You feel wet and sticky and hot and swollen with affection as Soonyoung praises you for taking him so well. His pace is firm and passionate, short nails digging deliciously into your hips for leverage as he makes sure to fill you to the brim.
He’s right, tonight is far from being a means to an end. You feel like you can have nights like this the rest of your life. And when the both of you finish and you’re pulling the covers over one another, you finally manage to grasp the reply that was nearly forgotten.
Pressing a kiss to his jaw you whisper, “I’m keeping you, too.”
“So, how long can we keep this a secret for?”
“Ideally? Ten months. Realistically, I’d say Christmas.”
“Why Christmas?”
“Because I know you’re going to be dying to get Nari a Christmas present.”
Soonyoung props his elbow on the pillow, looking at you petulantly. “I could say it’s a good behavior reward. She’s been racking up those gold stars during morning meetings, babe. She’s not even trying.”
“That’s my girl,” you coo, rolling over to lean your head on his chest. Light has long flooded into your apartment, seeping through your curtains and reflecting on your white duvet. Soonyoung looks absolutely fluffy and well rested, and you can’t help but reach to pat down the ebony bird’s nest atop his head.
The two of you lay like that for a little bit, playing with each other’s cold feet under the covers and relishing under the touch of bare skin to bare skin. You remind yourself that you need to take Joshua out to dinner one of these days, as he managed the inevitable and set you up with an amazing partner.
“Breakfast?” Soonyoung pops the question easily, “let’s get steak.”
“Steak isn’t eaten for breakfast.”
“Then can I eat you for breakfast?”
You snort, hiding under the covers while Soonyoung attempts to tickle you. The whole act in itself feels wholly innocent despite the fact that you’re both naked and smell like sweat and sex. Just as you feel Soonyoung’s head dip under the covers to meet you at your chest, the door swings open.
“Mama!”
The previously warm room feels like wickedly sharp ice, freezing you to your spot as you clutch the covers closer to your chest. “Baby!” you cry exasperatedly, flinching when she throws all her weight on you. She’s still in her ladybug pajamas from last night, hair falling out of her braid.
She lifts her head from your breast to give you an adorable one-toothed grin. You try your best to maintain eye-contact, but Nari has impeccable vision. Her grin evolves into a full-on beam when she finds your bed partner.
“Mr. Kwon!” she’s squealing, clamoring over your lap. You do a double-take when you see Soonyoung sitting next to you, wearing a t-shirt. Where on earth did he get that?
Soonyoung’s eyes reduce to crescents at his (secretly) favorite student. “Good morning, Nari-ah. Had a fun time at your Uncle’s house?”
“Nari,” you force your daughter down to stand on the hardwood, giving her a stern look, “give Mr. Kwon some space, it’s really early and it’s the weekend.”
Knitting her brows together, she looks between the two of you, “But you two don’t have any space.”
You wince at her perception, and nudge yourself away so you’re pressed against your nightstand. The oakwood corner digs painfully into your back.
“We were haviång a very special parent meeting,” you fight the urge to cry when Soonyoung turns on his teacher's voice, sending your daughter a very convincing smile. You watch as your daughter’s eyes go wide, probably feeling very special that her teacher came all the way to her house to have a meeting. “You’ve been doing so well during the read-alouds that I had to tell your mama in person!”
“I told you mama!” Nari juts out her chest, and you lean over to kiss the crown of her head. “But Mr. Kwon, why are you having it in mama’s room?”
“Her room is the warmest!” he says like it’s the most obvious thing, his and Nari’s eyes widening simultaneously as he gestures to the open window. “The sun travels directly into your bedroom in the morning, and those rays send heat—”
“Mr. Kwon,” your voice is as steady as it can be, and you frown when Soonyoung wiggles his brows. You already know he’s thinking of three separate ways you can use the term Mr. Kwon in private, but you’re not having any of that, “shouldn’t we uh, wrap up this… meeting?”
“I wanna stay,” Nari glowers, obviously nosy as to what you two are talking about.
“I know baby. We just gotta finish up the meeting, okay? Can you—” you cut yourself off when Seungkwan finally decides to make his appearance, eyes wide at commotion he’s created. He’s in matching pajamas, ridiculously red as he bends down to scoop up Nari. Absolutely sweating and as red as his clothes, his eyes dart between the two of you. You could care less that Seungkwan’s eyes have bags under their bags, and was probably too tired to catch her when she ran inside the house. No, Seungkwan doesn’t deserve the title of godfather anymore.
“Nari! You can’t interrupt teacher meetings,” Seungkwan pretends to scold, and Nari turns her head so she can hide in her Uncle’s shoulder.
Knowing that Nari can’t see a thing, you mouth a very explicit I will kill you to your best friend, and he immediately mouths an apology to the both of you as he ushers himself out the door. You wait ten seconds for your daughter to be out of ear shot, before dropping the blanket from your neck and throwing yourself against the pillows.
But Soonyoung’s chuckling, pressing a litany of kisses all over your bare body in an attempt to comfort you. Instead of reveling in his lazy morning touch, you want to disappear between the sheets, never to be seen. What will the PTO moms say when they find out? How will you stop Nari from telling Jeonghan, and therefore Jeonghan telling the entire kindergarten population? Why isn’t Soonyoung freaking out about this? Instead, he favors to taste your body, in between kisses muttering something about it being kismet that Nari so happened to see right as you were discussing the secrecy of your relationship. Ten years from now, your daughter will be horrified when she realizes that no, teachers don’t normally give housecalls in your mother’s bed.
Your boyfriend pinches your thigh, regarding you with mirth in his eyes.
“So, that means I can buy her a Christmas present now, right?”

TIME FOR A RANDOM HEADCANON POST YEEEEEEEEEE
Six: Fantasy AU
Premise: The queens are all rebels against the Tudor kingdom. They are wanted criminals as escaped wives of King Henry. Anne and Lina were the first two to group together and then decided to get the others to join their force so they could work together to finally put an end to Henry’s kingdom of terror. They then have many gay adventures together.
Aragon: a priestess from the church of Stanlicia (cause Alicia is the god of gay nirvana, no I don’t take criticism). Don’t let the holy woman vibe fool you though, she might focus on her bible, but she also is not afraid to drop kick any fucker who comes remotely close to her in any threatening manner. Aragon, although the only human of the group, is well known as the one you should not fuck with. She is the leader of the group, seeing as she is the only one who can read a map and not get distracted by colorful flowers or ancient ruins *insert Cathy and Kat feeling attacked in the background*. She has stupendous charisma and leadership skills, knowing when to be assertive and when to be cautious. She is also a distance fighter, rocking a nice bow and arrow set. Her talents are pep talks, singing, persuasion, distance offensive maneuvers, and leadership.
Anne: a fucking elf. What else did you expect? Okay, but seriously? Full on elf, raised from status and privilege, yet heavily burdened by expectations and gender stereotypes. Anne is a free spirit just like how her mother was, and after her mother’s passing she took on her mother’s dream of adventuring the world. She ran away from home with Kitty, never looking back. She is definitely the risk taker of the group, often causing chaos and laughing at their enemies failures. Truly a master of combat and swordsmanship, Anne wields dual swords that she had stolen from Henry. She struggles with magic even though she is an elf, and she is very insecure about the subject. She is also a bit of the flirt of the group, but only genuinely means it when she’s with Cathy. Often at times she can be found asking Cathy to do a spell for some impulsive idea she had. Her skills are sleight of hand, deception, persuasion, seduction, animal handling, combat, and dance.
Jane: a nymph who literally tries to adopt every plant and animal in sight. As long as it’s not among the “civilized” races, to her it has a heart and deserves love. Firm believe in fuck humanity and fuck kids, she’s a proud plant mama. A lover more than a fighter, she is more of the groups support. She has plenty of herbs for healing and knows where to go when in need of food or water, or even direction. She also befriends plenty of animals, so when push comes to shove they defend her. She can also control plants which is pretty badass, she literally used vines to yeet some of Henry’s men off a cliff into the lake once. Anne was so jealous and begged Cathy for a week to give her plant arms so she could be badass like Jane. That was a good day. Her skills are healing, navigation, empathy, nature knowlegde, basic survival skills, among a few others. Out of the group though, she is the worse fighter.
Anna: she is part demon. Demon have been banished and slaughtered for years, their existence is believed noneexistent at this point in time due to the years of war and persecution. Although minor, Anna is well aware of the demon blood that runs through her veins and constantly has to hide her dark magic or else she’ll be ostracized and murdered. It doesn’t matter how much demon blood is inside a person, they have the potential to turn into a full fledged demon, and that is Anna’s greatest fear along with the group leaving her and deeming her a monster. Although her race has dark origins, Anna is one of the most loyal and softest people you’ll ever meet, always caring for the others and doing whatever she can to protect them. She is attached to them. Sir, that is her emotional support found family. Just don’t breathe negatively in Kat’s direction, Anna will hear it and then give you a glare that makes hell seem like a playground. Her expertises are forgotten languages, sleight of hand, and tank battling styles. She is very well trained in hand to hand combat and can kick some major ass with her overwhelming strength (which is totally human and not demon what so ever.... hehehe.)
Kat: she is Anne’s baby cousin and somewhat like an apprentice, also a half elf. She is a dual axe wielder, but also quite the performer and grifter just like her cousin. Her elf nature gives off the image of status, even if she is a magicless elf whom are viewed to be worthless scum. However her human side gives her some trouble and nasty rumors, along with making her a bit more impulsive than most elves (then again, seeing Anne, that might just be the family). She is a very gentle gal when it comes to taking care of others, and she begs for a familiar everyday. Kat has a fascination with history and adventure and is the second best story teller, only falling short to her cousin Anne. More often than not you will catch her singing while she practices her axe swinging. Although small and gentle, don’t mistake her for incompetent and weak unless you want to lose a hand or your head to her axe. She might be baby, but babies don’t take shit from bigots. Her expertises are in history, disguise, music, and sneak attacks.
Cathy: She is a fucking witch, and a badass one at that. She was a gifted magic user since a very young age. While most people are able to unlock and control enough magic around the age of puberty, Cathy was able to manage hers at the age of six. This she was very proud of as her dutiful nature allowed her to learns a galore of spells, potions, and legends through her research and practice. However, it also caused her to have to pick her activation phrase and motion, something that can never be changed, at a young age. Let’s just say, she has regrets and Cathy’s parents knew she was bi since Cathy was six. Anyways, she totally kicks ass. After getting bored of mastering the basic extensive magics, Cathy decided to study mythology and psychology and dove into the dark magics. Although dark magic users are ostracized and in majority of the land illegal, Cathy couldn’t stop herself from falling in love with the subject and becoming a dark mage / witch. Her skills are potion making, knowledge of multiple languages, dark magic, sarcasm, explosions, enhancements, protection, writing, and more. She is one of the most powerful magic users in the land and have a vast knowledge of magic and beings. Now if only she could fucking figure out herself, or at the very least learn how to get a decent amount of sleep.
Thank you to everyone who read this xx

No thoughts- head gay
@katlikethesword Happy birthday Kat!! @irritating-lady-knight and I wrote this as your birthday present!!! We hope you enjoy it! We love you so much Kitty Kat! You're just always so precious and kind and I could go on forever. You're amazing Kat! Take all our love and affection
Pairing: prinxiety
Summary: Roman is precious and Virgil definitely isn't simping, no that would be ridiculous he would never simp for his roommate
"Ro? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in class? Don't tell me that you're skipping your silly theater thing for me"
Virgil gently hit Roman's arm and started walking next to him. Their footsteps echoing in the empty hallway.
"Pff don't flatter yourself too much finding emo. Class got cancelled, some dude tried to recreate the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet. He broke 3 ribs."
Roman let out a muffled laugh and handed his friend some oreos
"Want one? I was bored so decided to stop for a snack"
"Thanks princey, you always know how to find your way into my heart"
Virgil rolled his eyes but softly smiled as he accepted the food. They ate in comfortable silence and made their way out of the school building.
"Uh Virge? You don't happen to have an umbrella do you?"
He looked up from his phone and saw the rain falling down from the sky
"What's the matter prince charming? Afraid of water? Afraid that it might ruin your hair?"
Roman glared at him before shoving Virgil outside.
"Go on sunshine, let's see how long your makeup will last in the rain"
"How mature of you Ro, afraid to go first? Well come on then! Go follow mother duck. I will protect you my little duckling"
Virgil pulled Roman into the rain and started to walk very proudly, arms linked with Roman.
"Okay, if this is how you want to play this V, then you need to carry me on your back. This poor little duckling needs to be carried!"
Roman pouted and dramatically leaned his full weight against Virgil, who started at him with an annoyed face. But unfortunately for himself, Virgil was way to competitive to give up now.
"Bring it on ugly duckling"
"Auch that one hurts V, that one hurts"
And that's how Virgil ended up giving Roman a piggyback ride all the way to their apartment. When they finally arrived, they both were completely soaked.
"Thank you my noble horse for carrying me to my palace!"
"I thought I was mama duck?"
Roman laughed and opened the door to their apartment
"Nah a horse suits you better"
Virgil rolled his eyes and dropped his backpack on their apartment floor.
"Whatever makes you happy Romano, I'm gonna shower, please don't burn the house down."
Roman sputtered out a complaining noice as Virgil walked up stairs
"THAT HAPPENED ONE TIME"
After Virgil was down showering, he walked downstairs and put on a movie. He heard Roman serenading himself under the shower and chuckled softly. When he finally heard Roman's footsteps, he looked up and his heart stopped for a second
"Is that my hoodie?"
A soft red blush spread over both of their cheeks
"Uh- yeay- I was really cold a-and your hoodies always look so soft and warm, but I can put it back if you want me to!"
"Keep it"
Roman awkwardly sat down next to him
"You want me to keep it? Are you sure?"
Virgil looked at him with a soft look in his eyes,
"Yeay, it looks better on you anyway"
He didn't think that Roman's face could turn more red, it almost matched his annoyingly adorable sweater that he was wearing. No Virgil, no more gay thoughts for today, he had already reached his limits. He just had to focus on the movie they were watching.
"Wait a minute, are you complementing me Virge? Awww you don't hate me!"
Virgil almost believed Roman's confident voice if it wasn't for the blush that still burned bright red on his cheeks
"I take it back, you're the worst"
After this, it didn’t take very long for the two of them to fall back in their familiar rhythm, Virgil grumbling about plot holes, Roman criticizing the choices of the main characters- both jostling each other while fighting to eat as much popcorn as possible before the other could take ‘more than their fair share’. Slowly their comments and arguments and movement died off, though, and they truly became invested in the plot.
After two and a half movies, a sunset, a frantic call from Logan, and 4 cups of cocoa, Virgil had settled into his corner of the couch, warmth pooled in his belly and a blanket pulled to his chin. Roman had decided that it was too much work to actually get up and put on socks, so he’d tucked his ice cold feet under Virgil’s thighs and flopped dramatically across the rest of the couch, mumbling about Virgil’s abundant heat that he insisted on taking advantage of. Selfish fucker. Virgil didn’t know why he continued to deal with him. Most certainly not because he’d grown fond of him, god forbid. Motherfucker. Getting attached
. This is why he didn’t want a roommate freshman year. But as he watched Roman mouthing lines right alongside Jack, he was unable to smother a fond smile, shaking his head in disgust at himself.
“V.”
He grunted in response, looking up from his thoughts to see Roman standing in front of him, Sally frozen on screen. “Mug.”
Virgil pressed his mug into Roman’s hands and nudged his shin with a gentle foot in thanks, shifting to turtle further into his nest of blankets. A few minutes later Roman returned, mugs filled to the brim with steamy cocoa, Roman’s piled high with marshmallows and whipped cream.
“Move over.” Roman demanded, sitting down right beside him, their thighs pressed together. Virgil was wide awake.
“I- move? I’m pressed up against the side, dipshit. There is nowhere else for me to move!” Virgil pushed at him gently, but Roman only made a soft noise in response, carefully putting his mug in Virgil’s hands, the latter spluttering in offense. “The f-” He cut himself off with a grunt of surprise as his roommate flopped against him, pressing his cheek flat against Virgil’s arm.
“My dude???” Virgil squirmed until Roman sighed dramatically and shifted again, until Virgil was sitting up, two mugs balanced precariously in his hands, and Roman was pressed up against his side, feet once again tucked beneath his roommate’s thighs.
“I’m staying here, don’t complain or I’m spilling your cocoa on you. You are a human heater and I am visibly shivering, don’t be selfish and share.” Roman stated firmly, snuggling back against Virgil’s shoulder before pressing play.
Virgil.exe has stopped working. Press any button on your keyboard to restart.
Roman smelled like lemon and sandalwood. Virgil didn’t know what sandalwood was, but Roman smelled like it. His hair was still slightly damp from his shower, and it was soft and gentle against Virgil’s neck. He was lying when he said that he was cold, he was a nice sort of warm that Virgil melted into on contact, and couldn’t convince himself to move away from. Not that he wanted to. Except he did. He was no simp. He refused. Patton was a simp. Virgil was no simp. Absolutely not.
Except..
No.
Virgil. No.
Stop.
If you-
But he did.
Virgil quietly scolded himself and shook his head. It was time to focus on the movie, he shouldn't think about Roman or Roman's stupidly perfect face. No. He wouldn't think of that.
He almost found himself focusing back on the movie, but of course, Roman had to make it more difficult. Virgil felt a soft breath in his neck and saw that his friend had closed his eyes, his chest moving in a steady rhythm. He looked absolutely perfect. Okay, Virgil allowed that one gay thought, it was simply a fact and Logan had always told him that you can't argue with facts.
The movie. Virgil had to focus on the movie. He just had pretend that Roman was not there! That his hair didn't tickle Virgil's face. That shouldn't be that difficult right?
"..V..?"
Shit
Roman's voice was soft and Virgil lost his mind again
"Yeay Ro?"
His voice didn't squeak, it didn't . Virgil fought against his urges to kiss Roman's perfectly soft lips and to keep him here forever, laying on their couch. That sounded perfect to Virgil.
"Did you know that you're really hot Virge?"
The urges kept getting stronger and Virgil swallowed, trying not to squeak again
"Another heating pad joke? You're repeating yourself Ro"
"I didn't mean it in that way"
And with that he placed a soft kiss on Virgil's cheek before laying back down, closing his eyes again.
From that moment on Virgil was certain of two things.
One: He failed his gay thoughts rule
And two: He would risk absolutely everything for his roommate.

So Wrong, So Fast
Written by: @hutchhitched
Prompt 79: Peeta has been planning this marriage proposal for months. It goes horribly wrong. Tell me all about it and what happens next? [submitted by @katnissdoesnotfollowback]
Ratings/Warnings: T
A/N: I’m continuing to post the nine @everlarkficexchange prompts I took and then sat on throughout the early months of the pandemic. This is the fourth of the nine. Thanks for your patience, and I hope you enjoy. Huge thanks to @javistg for understanding the delays. Hope this helps ease your stress during hurricane season, @katnissdoesnotfollowback. This story can be read in the universe of An Everlarking Christmas as a prequel.
____________
“Finn, have you seen my tie?” Peeta Mellark yelled down the hall of their apartment. “I’ve got two minutes before I need to head out.”
“Nope. Haven’t seen it.”
He turned and burst out laughing. His roommate stood in the doorway in ragged sweatpants and a threadbare t-shirt. Wrapped around his neck was Peeta’s favorite tie.
“Are you trying to ruin this night for me?”
“I would never do such a thing,” Finnick crowed and loosened the tie. With an exaggerated wink, he tossed it to Peeta and plopped down on the bed. “So, what’s the plan? Wine and dine Everdeen and then bring her back here for a little roll in the hay? Should I change your sheets for you? Make myself scarce?”
“I don’t know how Annie puts up with you,” Peeta muttered and tugged the knot in his tie. It wasn’t quite sitting right, and it was driving him a little nuts. It had taken a lot for Katniss to agree to a formal dinner for their anniversary. She was much more comfortable out of the spotlight or working behind the scenes. Peeta’s insistence that she be showered with affection made her squirm anxiously any time he brought it up, but he’d wanted to do something special to show his girlfriend how much he really loved her, and a fancy dinner date seemed like a tried and true method for demonstrating affection.
“I don’t think that’ll be necessary, Finn. I’ll probably stay at her place tonight. I mean, I am planning to pop the question.”
Finnick yelped and sprang from the bed to engulf his roommate in a bear hug. Lifting Peeta off the floor, he spun them around and finally set Peeta down again when they were both completely dizzy.
“How could you keep this from me?” Finnick barked in a mock offended tone. “You know how much I love romance, and I’m running out of fresh material. What have you got planned? Music? A special menu? The ring in the dessert? No, scratch that. In the champagne? Got her favorite flowers? Rose petals at her place and lit candles? Tell me everything.”
“You’re worse than Delly,” Peeta snorted, referring to his childhood best friend who enjoyed being a woman more than almost any other female. “I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to jinx it. There’s only so much a guy can handle before he breaks down in a puddle of nervous goo.”
“Can I see the ring?” Finnick asked, still practically vibrating with excitement. “I need ideas for the one I’m gonna buy—because we both know it’s going to be sooner rather than later.”
“You’re a mess. You know that?”
“I am a lovable, sex god who’s given up my reign for the fair Annie Cresta.”
“You’re an idiot.”
“An idiot in love who supports you in your inferior attempts to romance women.”
Offended, Peeta glared at his friend. “I am very romantic. Katniss just doesn’t really like it.”
“Oh, really?” Finnick hooted and crossed his arms. “You still haven’t told me what your plan is.”
“You’ll just have to wait until tomorrow because I need to go.” Turning to his friend, Peeta exhaled and held out his arms. “How do I look?”
“You look good, man. You got the ring?”
“Shit! The ring.” He scrambled to his nightstand and opened the top drawer. Rifling through the contents, his fingers settled on a velvet box, and he grabbed it and stuck it in his pocket. “Gotta go. Wish me luck!”
“Good luck!”
Finnick’s well-wishes rang in his ear as he rushed out the door. Jumping into his car, he slammed the door, turned the key in the ignition, and…nothing.
“No, no, no, no, no! Not tonight.”
Turning the key again, Peeta groaned when the battery didn’t turn over and smacked his palms on the steering wheel. Frantic, he leapt from the car and ran into the house.
“Finn! My car won’t start. Can I—?”
“Keys are on the counter. I’ll have Annie pick me up. You’ll need to get gas.”
“Thanks, man!”
He was halfway to his girlfriend’s house when he glanced down and saw the gas gauge was almost on empty. Swearing, he crossed his fingers he could make it to Katniss’ place and then to the restaurant before he had to stop. Irritated that he’d hit almost every red light between his house and hers, he jammed the car into park and rushed to her door.
“You look gorgeous,” he breathed when she opened the door, and he grinned at her shy smile. He leaned forward to kiss her. Closing his eyes, he inhaled her scent and nudged her lips open with his. She tasted amazing, her lips soft and coated with lip gloss. When she moaned into his mouth, he pulled away and took a shuddering breath. “You ready to go?”
She nodded and took his hand. “I’m not used to heels,” she laughed when she wobbled a little against him. “Or dresses. Or makeup. Or not wearing a braid. Why do I let you talk me into these things?”
“Into dinner?” he teased as he helped her into the car and shut the door. He hurried around the car, jumped in, and turned to her. “Sorry. My car wouldn’t start.”
“Into a fancy dinner,” she answered. “What’s wrong with your car?”
He shrugged and grimaced. “Probably a battery. I’ll figure it out tomorrow. How was your day?”
Peeta listened as he drove. He was still jumpy, but having her by his side calmed him a little bit. She wore a slinky peachy, salmon colored dress that dipped low on her chest and hinted at a tiny dip of cleavage. Her gorgeous legs stretched from the hem that rested just above her knees to strappy, gold heels that elongated her legs and made them look twice as long. Her dark hair, which she usually tucked back in a braid, hung loosely in waves around her shoulders and halfway down her back. God, he loved her.
He pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot and helped her out of the car and to the door. Still unused to the heels, she leaned against him, and he reached over to kiss her forehead just as they got to the maître d. He gave his name and frowned when the man looked over his reservation list with a bored look.
“I’m sorry, sir. I don’t seem to see your name.”
“That’s impossible. I made the reservation two weeks ago. Mellark, table for 2. Can you check again, please?”
“Certainly, sir. Let me just check tomorrow, too. Just in case. Sometimes we make mistakes. Ah, yes, here it is. I’m afraid we have you down for tomorrow evening instead.”
“But—”
“Not to worry, sir. I’m sure it was a miscommunication,” the man assured in an infuriatingly disinterested voice, but Peeta flushed with discomfort. He had a niggling feeling that maybe it was his mistake and not the restaurant’s, but he was grateful they seemed willing to accommodate them—even if the guy looked like he’d rather do anything than speak to them. Possibly it would all still work. Perhaps the uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach would be soothed by good food and attentive service. Maybe he’d ask the woman of his dreams to marry him and she’d say yes. Otherwise, he might die of humiliation.
“Uh, I—”
Katniss watched with a bemused expression. When Peeta seemed incapable of stringing together more than two words, she suggested calmly, “Perhaps we could wait at the bar while the table’s prepared?”
“Yes, miss. If you’ll just step this way, we’ll serve you there. Might I suggest a red?”
Peeta followed and sagged gratefully onto a stool. The bartender asked for their orders, and Katniss surprised them both when she asked for a gin martini. Taking his cue from her, he ordered a bourbon. The smoky, caramel flavor washed over his tongue and eased his jangling nerves. Grateful for her calm, he entwined his fingers with hers and rubbed his thumb over the back of her hand.
“Sorry for the confusion,” he said in a low voice. She took a sip of her drink and looked at him over the rim through her eyelashes. A bead of liquid lingered on her lower lip, and he gave her a soft kiss to lick away the stray drop.
She hummed against his mouth. “I think I can forgive you,” she murmured and kissed him again.
By the time they got their table, his stomach rumbled, and Katniss had the look in her eye she always got indicating she’d crossed into hangry. However, the waitress, a slight young woman named Rue, took care of them graciously and attentively. She suggested flash fried spinach for an appetizer and left them to themselves.
Dinner was spectacular. The food was delicious and they chatted and laughed as they enjoyed each other’s company. Wrapped in each other, they shared bites and tangled their spoons over the last bit of sorbet and ganache. Everything was perfect until the bill came and he reached into his back pocket. Peeta’s face drained of color. Stricken, he looked at Katniss. He couldn’t believe what he’d have to do.
“What’s wrong?”
Devastated, he answered, “I can’t believe I did this.”
“Did what?”
“Katniss, I forgot my wallet.”
“You forgot…”
“Yeah, my wallet,” he repeated, his cheeks flaming with humiliation.
She laughed and leaned across the table to grab his hand. “It’s no big deal. I can get it.”
“That’s not the point, Kat. I asked you to dinner. I made a huge deal of it, and now I can’t even pay. I’m so sorry.”
“You know, I don’t think I’ll be able to forgive you for this gaffe,” she teased. “I might as well just break up with you right now. I mean, how could I ever trust you again? Be honest, hon. You’re really just looking for a sugar mama, aren’t you?”
He knew she was teasing, knew it meant nothing and was intended to make him feel better, but he was sick to his stomach. After all this time, all the planning he’d put into proposing to the love of his life, and he couldn’t even manage to remember his wallet. If nothing else, it seemed like a terrible omen. How could he handle a marriage if he forgot such basics? He tried to tell himself he’d never done this before, that it was the only time he’d ever been quite so careless, but his insecurities got the better of him.
He was quiet as Katniss paid the check and they walked to the car. Maybe there was still time to salvage the evening. He had the ring in his pocket. The proposal would make his mistakes all better. He’d planned for weeks. Arranged for every variable. It was going to be perfect. He just had to get them to where they’d first met.
Music played softly as they drove with the windows partially lowered. A gentle breeze whipped through the car, and her hair created a cloud around her face. She sang softly, and his heart clenched at the joy on her face. He always wanted her to sing more, since it brought her such pleasure, but it was highly personal to her. He didn’t get to hear it nearly enough.
They were less than a mile from their destination when the car started to chug, and his stomach dropped. “No, no, no!” he growled. “Please, no.”
“What’s wrong?”
“God, please keep going,” he begged, but Finnick’s car shivered and shook and ground to a halt. If it’d been a person, he would have said it coughed itself to death. “Shit.”
“Peeta?”
“We’re out of gas.” Slamming the palm of his hand against the steering wheel, he released a long groan and thumped his head against the headrest. Grumbling, he closed his eyes and took in a huge gulp of air. “What a fucking night.”
“I don’t know. I don’t think it’s so bad.”
He glanced over at her and gave her a sad smile. “You’re so amazing.”
“I’ve heard that before,” she grinned. “My boyfriend tells me that all the time.”
“Does he?”
“He really does.”
“Lucky bastard.”
“He really is.”
The way the moonlight fell across her face was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. He wanted to paint her in that moment, so he could freeze time and live in it forever. More than anything, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with this woman.
“How married are you to the idea of those shoes?” he asked suddenly.
“I despise these things, Peeta. You know that.” A smile played across her lips, and he stretched across the seat to kiss her.
“Take them off.”
“Why?”
“Just do it. I have a plan.”
Full of renewed energy, he bounced out of the car and ran around to open her door. Offering her his hand, he pulled her upright and threaded his fingers through hers. Without a word, he kissed her forehead and led her down the street.
“Are we going to the meadow?” she asked as they rounded the corner. “Sweetheart…”
He grinned and guided her to a tree at the edge of the open area before hauling her in for a passionate kiss. She melted against him, and he cradled her to his chest.
“I love you so much, Katniss,” he murmured against her lips. “I can’t remember what my life was like without you.”
“I love you, too.”
“Do you?”
“Yes,” she whispered.
Grinning, he dropped to his knee and looked up at her. Her eyes widened when he sank down, and he reached into his pocket to pull the ring box free.
“Every day since I’ve met you has been better than any best day I had before we met. I don’t want to have another one without you. Katniss Everdeen.” He paused and opened the ring box. Holding it out to her, he asked, “Will you please make me the happiest man in the world and spend the rest of your life with me?”
Katniss nodded vigorously. “Of course, I will, Peeta. Yes, I’ll marry you.”
Relief flooded through him. He hadn’t even been aware how nervous he was until she agreed to his proposal, but he suddenly felt like his limbs were limp noodles. He couldn’t comprehend the buzzing in his veins, but he was sure his blood was florescent with endorphins. That wasn’t a thing, but still. Thrilled, he reached into the box to get the ring and—
“You have got to be kidding me!”
The ring box was empty. The ring he’d picked out for her wasn’t there. Instead, the slit where it should have been grinned at him manically, and he wondered briefly who he’d pissed off in a past life to make this night go so spectacularly terrible. After all the planning and soul searching and angst, the perfect proposal had disintegrated into such a total pile of—
“What’s wrong?”
Katniss stood over him, trembling and half-grinning/half-weeping. The longer he remained on his knee, the more concerned she became. He looked down at the empty box that mocked him and huffed in annoyance. He realized as the moisture from the ground soaked into his pants at the knee that he’d grabbed the box he’d kept from a prank gone wrong with Finnick on Valentine’s Day. In his rush, he hadn’t even bothered to make sure he got the one with the ring in it.
“I’m an idiot. That’s what’s wrong,” he groaned.
“Are you— Do you not want to…” she asked in a tortured whisper.
He popped to his feet and wrapped her in his arms. “Oh, no, sweetheart! Of course, I want to marry you. I’m so happy you said yes. I just, uh— I forgot the ring.”
“You forgot the ring?”
Frustrated, he nodded and hung his head. “I really, really did.”
Silence hung for a few seconds, but then he felt panic bubbling inside him until— Laughter poured from him in lusty bursts that shocked him and caused her to chuckle. Before he knew it, he was doubled over, heaving for breath, and laughing so hard, he almost fell over. Katniss joined him after a few seconds, his mirth contagious as he struggled to gain his composure. Soon, they clung to each other as they guffawed, unable to stop.
“Who proposes and forgets the ring?” she howled, her eyes sparking with humor.
“I do!”
“Runs out of gas. Forgets his wallet.”
“Me!”
“Why is this so funny?” she giggled. “Bless your heart. You tried so hard.”
He forced himself to get it together and pulled her close. Brushing her hair back, he tilted his head and kissed her. “I really did.”
She hummed against his mouth and opened it as his tongue swept inside. The kiss grew heated quickly, and he slanted her mouth so he could devour her. When she whimpered, he tangled her hair in one hand and let the other drift lower to cup her hip and then pull her leg up and over his.
“Katniss,” he hissed as she rocked her hips against his.
“How mad do you think Finnick would be if you abandoned his car?”
“Furious. Why?” he asked between heated, open-mouthed caresses.
“I really don’t want to wait for help when we could get a ride to your place.”
“I thought we were staying at yours tonight.”
“We could,” she breathed against his cheek before catching his earlobe in her teeth and biting it gently. “Or we could go to yours, put that ring on my finger, and consummate our engagement.”
He grinned and nuzzled her neck. “That sounds pretty amazing,” he breathed as he nibbled along her jawline.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Hmmm. Maybe we can salvage this night after all.”
“You mean me agreeing to marry you wasn’t enough for our date to be a good one?” she teased as she pulled away and started walking back to the car. “Shoes. Purse. Would like to take them with me.”
He tugged his phone from his pocket and arranged for a car. Grinning, he called after her, “It all went so wrong, so fast, but I think we’re on our way to making it even more memorable.”
“I love you, Mellark,” she yelled over her shoulder.
“I love you more, Everdeen! Gonna marry the hell out of you.”
She backed away from him, and he followed. The last thing he wanted was to let her slip away from him into the darkness.

Anna of cleves - Cleves or A
Katherine howard - Kitty / kat

words :
Madrina : Godmother
mi hija : my daughter
mi corazón. : my heart
française : french
The day would start as you'd expect, just like any other normal, family household.
Catalina, was the first to pad down the stairs, her thick curly waves of ombre hair bouncing with each step she took. The small silver crucifix that hung around her neck swayed also with the soft steps she took. There was nothing important she had to do, rather she enjoyed being the first to wake up, get a slice of pure silence to look out at the fresh day, before the chaos would awake. As Catalina stood, or 'Lina' as the other five most liked to call her, staring out to the street they lived on, though not much of the street itself was seen, as the queen's home had a rather large, and long drive. Neatly decorated with red roses, and white daisies, the grass was neat, well watered, and it flourished. Thanks to Jane, who had become a devoted gardener. Though the front yard was a sight to see, the backyard was even sweeter. Set that displayed sweet hidden picnic spots, a pool, and a beautiful flower & vegetable garden. Becoming lost in her train of thought, a new voice slowly swept into her thoughts, causing her to turn, facing a woman of similar height.
"Good morning Madrina." it was Cathy, it was easy to know who it was, not only did her puffy lion mane of curls give it away, she was the only one to call Catalina Madrina, as it meant "God parent" and Catalina was appointed Cathy's godmother way back when she was born, 1512, her mother personally appointed the queen at the time as the godmother, Cathy's maternal mother who was a close loyal lady to Catalina during her reign. As well, Cathy was named Catherine , as namesake of Catherine ( Catalina ) of Aragon, as a show of loyalty and compassion to England's Spanish queen.
"mi corazón." Catalina sighed contentedly , as her god daughter stood in front of her. "I hope you slept well, mi hija" though as much as Catalina could hope, her god daughter had awful sleeping patterns, due to her never ending passion to write, or read. Tending to make her stay up late into the night, and early into the morning.
"I suppose I did, a new book comes out a week from now, it looks amazing, so I figured I must get it." Cathy responded, as she looked down at the book currently in hand, one of her fingers slipped in a page, keeping its place. Like she had lost her book mark, and her finger was the next best option. "I hope you slept well too."
" I did, very well indeed." Catalina responded, taking a sip from the mug that had been warming her hands, Cathy had turned away, most likely heading for the kitchen to make coffee, or even tea. Cathy was hooked on tea, just as Jane was. So it was no surprise to see Jane poke her head around the corner with an exhausted smile on her face.
"Morning Lina!" Jane said, her tone was warm, and kind. Yet the sleep and desire for rest was there, lingering in the back, as Jane let out a soft yawn, continuing to smile at the eldest queen.
'Rough night? Jane darling you look exhausted." Catalina sighed, as she walked into the kitchen, placing her mug down on the counter, to cup Jane's face.
"I suppose you could call it rough, poor kitty had another nightmare, third time this week. And it took even longer to get her back to sleep, let alone remember where she was and that she was safe." Jane replied, allowing Lina to cup her face gently, though she was unsure whether to stare directly at the older women, or look away.
Catalina would only sigh in response, tilting her head as a sweet, soft smile crept onto her tanned face. Jane was the motherly friend. She always helped others, comforted them, and made sure they were ok, but Jane also needed someone to look out for her. Catalina had taken on that role for her. Seeing as she already does the same for Cathy, plus it was stressful on Janes behalf, who had taken the heart to look out for Anne & Kitty. Gently Catalina stroked Jane's cheek, earning a kind smile from Jane, who stared sweetly into Catalinas eyes, before moving away as her tea was ready.
Anna of Cleves was next to come downstairs.already dressed for the day, wearing a pair of red cargo pants, and a black t-shirt. It was rare to ever see anna in the mornings still in her sleepwear, she was always ready mainly because most mornings she would get up very early, and go to the gym or go for a run, which gave her the excuse to shower and already be changed by the time the clock striked 7. Anna wore a small smile, nothing to cheery though, as she made her way to the kitchen to begin breakfast. Cooking had become Anna's job, not by force. But by choice. The tall dark women had come to enjoy the task of food, though she only ever made breakfast and dinner. It was normally Jane's thing to make lunch & bake, as Anna could not bake to save her life.
"Morning Anna." Jane was the first to break the silence in the kitchen, as she grabbed her mug containing her warm tea, she sipped it quietly, awaiting a response.
'Morning." Anna replied quickly, as she cracked eggs into the frying pan, and grabbed her cooking tools.
"Has anyone seen the other two?" Jane carried on, looking into the lounge not seeing the cousins tucked up together like normal, which only made Jane worry further.
"Nope. Last time I heard Anne was snoring, that was when I walked past her room." Cathy added, not even looking up from her book, her eyes were too glued to her page, desperately needing to know what lies in the next chapter that she was so close to.
"Its nice, I must be honest. The house is still quiet, apart from natural sounds." Catalonia spoke, mentioning sounds like the birds chirping outside, the wind blowing calmly, and the fry pan, that was cooking the food. "I don't mind this, why can't we always have this.." she smiled, as she sipped her tea.
Next thing they knew, their peace was broken, as Anne came sprinting down the stairs, jumping the last three steps to land on the floor, dragging her poor tired cousin along with her.
"GOOD MORNING BESTIES!" Anne yelled, as she made it to the bottom of the steps, pulling a much smaller girl beside her.
"And there she is." Catalina sighed, as she took her mug, and went over to her special arm chair, which had a good view of the backyard.
Jane smiled, then peeking around Jane's side, her heart even sighed, but picked up as the sight of a tired, looking kitty made her burst. All queens had agreed, kitty was very cute, and sweet in most things she does.
" Kitty, little love good morning." Jane spoke softly, looking down at the brunette girl who had strips of her hair hanging loose from her ponytail, like she had been pulling at them, making them fall from the secured band in her hair. She earned no response, but a small smile, as kitty broke lose of Anne's grip, and toted over to her mother, and quickly latched on, clinging to her with a hug. Jane kissed the girls head, and smoothed her hair, before putting her cup down, and lifting the girl into her arms. All thanks to Kitty's extremely small figure, she was easy to lift, and carry. As Jane & Kitty's bond was deep, each saw the other as mother or daughter, and had formed such a bond you would be amazed to find they weren't what they seemed. Kitty never minded being picked up, it was just another way of safety, and love. So she lay her head down on Jane's shoulder, listening as Jane whispered a few words into her ear, continuing to kiss the girls head, and sway side to side. Not only was she extremely light, she was well small for a seventeen year old girl.
"What's on the agenda today huh? Roller blading? Archery? SWORD FIGHTING?" Anne grinned, as she walked away from Jane and kitty, over to the kitchen island where she would dramatically lay her top half body over, earning a glare from Anna who was busy finishing the food.
"Causingabsolutechaosinthehousetohavefunbecausenoneofthesepeopleknowwhatfunis?" Anne muttered under her breath, her grin turned suspicious, as it always did.
Cathy looked up finally from her book, and shrugged. "No one actually got any plans actually. At least, I don't think. I was going to wander down to the bookshop later, that's what i'll be doing..?" she said, keeping her finger pressed on the page where she was reading earning nothing but a sour sigh from the green girl.
"More books??" Anne huffed
"More books." Cathy responded.
"You have a whole freaking library up in your room! How do you need more freaking books?!" Anne's response earned a small giggle from Anna, who was now plating up food, and taking it to the dining room, Cathy frowned, and shrugged again.
"One can never run out of books." Cathy smiled, as she looked down at her page to begin writing, when Anna called out.
"Breakfast queens!"
Each woman made their way to the table, sitting in their spots, Catalina, Anna, Anne, Jane, Kitty, Cathy. Three on one side, three on another. Each of their eyes set on the food in front of them.
"Thank you Anna, it looks amazing." Peeped Jane, as she picked up her fork, her thanking was followed by everyone else's, as Anna sighed with relief, she looked at everyone.
"You may begin eatin-" she said, but stopped midway as she had already seen Anne finish half of the food she had, Anne looked up and grinned, small bits of egg hung on her face, as she looked back down to continue eating.
"Lovely manners Anne." Catalina said, as she picked up her fork and began eating. Earning a head wiggle from Anne who pulled a face.
"LovElY maNnErs AnnE." Anne mocked. "Shut up Lina, no one asked." Anne spat right back, as she finished her mouthful, and gulped down the glass of orange juice in front of her. While everyone else ate, kitty only picked at her food. Not that she didn't like it, she just never really ate. Because she never found herself dyingly hungry, she ate small pieces, but this whole.. 2000s food made her anxious, they had been in this century for a year already, and had gotten used to most things, but Kat never really seemed to understand the wide variety of food nowadays. Often some foods & their textures set her off, which is why she remained in her comfort zone, with the food she enjoyed eating, and the amounts she could take.
The table was filled with chatter, talking about recent events, or upcoming ideas. Jane and Cathy had stood as they cleared the table, Cathy checking in with Kat last, desperately trying to encourage her to have a bit more, with defeat in her eyes, she looked over to see Jane walking back into the dining room, who only shook her head at Cathy's attempts, which sent the curly haired girl off, packing more things up, and cleaning them away.
"How about we all go down to town, to the bookshop with Cathy?" Jane smiled, as she entered the dining room again, to see Anne talking across the table to Kitty, and Lina & Anna chatting away, though the noise dropped when Jane spoke.
Cathy moved in, and smiled at the idea. "Yes! That sounds amazing, there are lots of shops nearby too, so you wont get as bored."
"But I bet there's no laser tag near it."
"No, there's no laser tag near it Anne." Cathy replied.
"What a load of shit."
"Language."
"English and française"
"Not what I meant."
"I didn't ask."

Antonio Dawson x Reader Begin Again
written by @anotheronechicagobog
requested by: @lifesaclimb-buttheviewisgreat
(I hope you like this one too!)
When your ex left it was like someone hastily dropped an anvil on your chest. Your marriage fell apart and he didn’t even want to try to fix it. He just... left. When you were going through divorce proceedings he wouldn’t even look at you. He tried to get full custody of your kids. It wasn’t until you saw him getting picked up by his secretary that you understood everything. The way she cooed at your children and slid her hand down his arm while smirking at you made you sick.
The divorce proceedings were long and tedious and nearly broke you. Watching your ex and his secretary try and play house was hell. You had been so unaware that your husband didn’t love you anymore, that he had fallen in love with his big breasted blonde secretary, that you had been caught completely blindsided.
Your kids, however, had been your saving grace. They questioned their father and his new girlfriend. They didn’t like her, just said that they sensed something fake about her. In the end, it had been their testimonies to the judge that won you full custody with your husband only getting minimal visitation rights. Shockingly when the judge made the decision it was your ex’s girlfriend, or mistress, as the judge put it when they accidentally admitted to being together for a year, lost her damn mind.
Meeting Antonio was really something different. You’d been on the subway heading to med to for an appointment when you noticed a girl, probably about 10 or 11 being harassed by a forty-year-old man. Your mama bear instincts kicked in, you marched over and glared and seethed at him, calling him a pedophile a couple of times, and made sure he kept his hands to himself until he left. The girl, Eva Dawson, was grateful for you scaring him away, and when you figured out that neither of her parents knew where she was or where she was going, you called into your doctor’s office to say there’d been an emergency and you were going to be late, before escorting Eva to the 21st police district.
“Eva! What are you doing here?! Does your mom know?” He ranted and raved for several minutes before his eyes narrowed on you. “And who are you?”
“My name is Y/N Y/L/N, I found your daughter on the subway and she looked like she needed help, so I offered to make sure she got here okay.” He nodded. “Alright, Eva, wait here, I’ll tell your mom you’re here. I have to go follow a lead, stay within eyesight of Trudy.” He then turned around and marched out the door of the precinct mumbling under his breath in Spanish followed by a man wearing a fedora. You sighed and watched Eva crying and curling into herself for a minute before you decided to inervene. You sat down beside her. “Hey, He could have said it better, and let you say your piece, but he has a point and it’s because he loves you. Your dad is a detective, you are never going to understand everything about him and his job, and that’s probably a good thing. He sees all of the dark and twisty things about Chicago.”
You ran into Antonio again when you went to visit your uncle/father figure at firehouse 51 while he was visiting his sister. He seemed a little tense at first when he recognized you, but warmed up to you when Gabby threw him a glare. You became quick friends much to uncle Chris’s chagrin, and a few months later your kids were making kissey faces at you whenever Antonio was mentioned.
It ended up being your and Antonio’s kids that got the two of you together. You’d all been hanging out at a first responders picnic when the kids started playing matchmaker. It had been a little embarrassing at first but after the third time you tripped and fell into Antonio’s arms you both decided to humour them. While neither of you intended to go as well as it had you couldn’t be happier about it.
You’d been dating Antonio for eight months when you got a call from Gabby. “Hey, is it okay if I dropped Eva and Diego off at your place? Laura missed picking them up and Antonio couldn’t but I’m still on shift.”
“Uh, yeah. Sure.” Internally you were freaking out. You’d never been alone with them and your kids before. Twelve minutes later they’d been dropped off and you were nervously clenching and unclenching your hands. “So, do you guys want to play Mario cart?”
“That sounds great!” Eva, Diego, and your daughter Katrina, all sat very content selecting their characters and giggling. “I’ll make some snacks, before I forget does anyone have homework?”
Diego and Katrina shook their heads, they were in the same class and their teacher usually gave them twenty minutes at the end of the day to do homework. So it wasn’t really shocking that they didn’t have any. “Eva?”
“No, we’re learning about how to write essays right now so we do a lot of that in class. I’m really good at math so I’ve already done that, but if I could get your advice on a lab I did that would make me more confident in it.”
“Sure, how about after dinner?”
“Yeah, that would be awesome.”
“Mind if I join you guys for a few rounds before I have to start making dinner?”
Three wins and two losses later you got up and proceeded to start dinner. Just as you finished with a large Asian stir fry there was a knock on the door. “Alright guys, go wash up. Antonio should be here soon for dinner.” You hundred up your apron before making your way to the door and looking through the peephole. You smiled when you saw your boyfriend nervously standing outside your door with a bouquet of your favourite flowers. You swung the door open with a “hello handsome.”
“Hola mi amor.”
“Dinners ready, the kids are just washing up. I’m gonna go find a vase for these. Thank you, honey.”
“Dinner smells great. Don’t you guys think so?”
“Yeah, mom used my favourite rice noodles and she made it spicy so I’m really excited.”
“YES! I LOVE SPICY FOOD!”
“Calm down Diego, use your inside voice please.”
“Thanks for dinner, Y/N, it’s really good.”
“No problem Eva, I love having you guys over.” Diego went for his second helping as Eva and Katrina were talking about Captain Marvel when Antonio’s phone rang. All of your heads snapped to look at him, the image of him leaving to go to work popping into your heads. He sighed when he saw the caller ID. “It’s Laura. I should probably take this.” You looked at Eva and Diego, both of their heads were bowed and while Diego looked like he was about to burst into tears Eva looked like she wanted to punch something while shouting every swear word she isn’t supposed to know. He stood up from the table and answered the phone as he walked to the entryway, out of earshot. “I made coffee cake the other day and we have vanilla ice cream in the freezer, so we could do that for dessert if you guys are up to it. Diego and Kat nodded while silently and solemnly eating their food. “That sounds really good Y/N. Thank you.”
“It’s no problem, sweetie.”
“Y/N?”
“Yeah, Diego?”
“The swim team is having a bake sale on Friday, would you mind making something? Mom forgot to make something for Eva’s cross country team bake sale, and she, you know, forgot us today.”
“Sure thing, what did you have in mind?”
“Your lemon squares are really good, can you make those?”
“Yes, absolutely, I’ll make some extra so that we can all have some too.”
“Thanks.” The kids started to smile again and the mood was lifting when Antonio came back. He was tense but started to loosen up when he heard the kids debating about who was cooler, Batman or Ironman. “Personally,” Antonio drawled out, “I prefer Batman.”
“What? Why?”
“Batmobile. Enough said.” You laughed, “fair enough.” You kissed him on the cheek, he looked at you tenderly, his face close to yours. He didn’t have to lean in far to kiss you soundly on the lips.
Antonio and the kids were cleaning up fro dinner while you were looking over Eva’s lab report. It was well-formatted, and while she did use some contractions her report was definitely worthy of a high mark. She beamed when you told her that her only mistake was using the word “couldn’t” instead of “could not”. She skipped back to the kitchen and back to her cake and ice cream. Antonio chuckled as he wrapped his arms around your waist from behind. “I talked to Laura, if you’re okay with it I’d like to list you as one of Eva and Diego’s guardians with the school and med. If you’re okay with it. You don’t have to-“
“Yes. That sounds great. You know I love them, I’ll do anything to help them.”
“Te amo mi amor.”

It’s Not Just Me
prompt: I’d love to see a one shot of Jane and Jenna getting closer and hanging out together and getting confused for sisters. Or! Jane getting confused for Lulu’s mom because she and Jenna look so much alike.
Ask, and you shall receive!
Since Anne had met Jenna and Lulu, the second queen had been begging Jane to invite them over for dinner. Saturday mornings just weren’t enough it seemed.
“Can they?” Anne continued to ask despite the fact that Jane had been trying to tune her out for the past fifteen minutes. “Come on Janey! It’s a Saturday night, all the girls are in! You don’t even need to cook if you don’t want to. We can all just vibe.”
“Annie,” Jane sighed as she manuveured herself so she could look at the short queen. “I don’t want to invite them over just so we can all indulge ourselves in pizza and a movie. If they’re coming over, I really would prefer to cook a nice meal. Especially after all Jenna has done for me- she deserves a nice meal where she doesn’t have to cook. Lord knows Jim can’t cook.”
“We really don’t mind if they come crash movie night Jane,” Cathy had been listening in and decided to put her opinion in the mix. “I can ask the other girls right now.” She typed out a quick text into their group chat, and before Jane could send a text, the others had all okay-ed the idea.
“I don’t know if they have plans tonight, and I don’t want them to drop any plans if they already have something to do.”
“There’s no harm in asking,” Anne shrugged. She eyed up Jane’s phone, and before the blonde could stop her, the second queen had dialed Jenna.
“Hey Jane!” Jenna’s voice sounded cheery.
“Is that Jane?” Lulu could be heard shouting in the background. “Mama, tell her I said hi! I can’t wait to see her on Monday!”
“Lulu honey, Mama’s on the phone right now. Let her talk to Jane,” Jim chided.
“Hi Jenna!” Anne matched the cheerful tone.
“Oh, hi Anne!” Jenna was confused. Why was Anne calling her? “Is Jane alright?”
“Jane’s fine. Here,” she shoved the phone in Jane’s direction.
“Hey, sorry to call. Anne is just being...” Jane searched for the right words. “She’s just being Anne.”
“We just wanted to know-”
“Anne be quiet,” Jane hissed slightly as she lowered the phone to her chest.
“Is everything alright hun?” Jenna sounded a bit concerned. “You’re kinda worrying me here.”
“Everything is just fine love. So sorry to bother you today. Have a nice night! Tell little Lu I said hey.”
“Are you-” Anne yanked the phone out of Jane’s hand. “Cathy, get her!” Anne could be heard commanding.
“Jane’s being too much of a baby to ask, but do you guys wanna come over to-”
“Catherine Parr, put me down!” Jane could be heard shrieking distantly.
“ to hang out? We’re probably just gonna have pizza and watch a movie. It’s kind of just a vibe night over here.”
“I’ll have to ask Jim, but that sounds like a lot of fun. Is it okay if Lulu comes?”
“Of course! I love little Lu.” Anne had grown to love Jenna’s sweet daughter, and, if she was going to be honest, their Saturday mornings were the highlight of Anne’s week at this point.
“Anne!” Jane had gotten out of Cathy’s grip and snatched the phone out of her hand. “Jenna?”
“Jane?”
“Love, if you guys already have plans, please don’t let Anne guilt you into dropping them. We can always hang out another time, and I can even make you guys that meal I promised.”
“Actually, we were kind of just going to do the same thing over here tonight. If you’re willing to have us, we’d love to come meet the other girls and hang out.”
“I’ll text you the address, and you can come over around five?”
“Sounds like a plan. See you in a bit hun.”
The blonde was running around like crazy cleaning. So far, she had dusted, vacuumed, dusted again, and was now wiping the windows.
“Janey, calm down,” Anne called from her place on the couch. “It’s just Jenna.”
“Yeah, but they don’t need to be thinking we live in some slum. Now, could you get off your ass and help clean since this was your idea anyway?”
“I think I’ll just-” The second queen caught the look Jane was throwing her. “You know, I think I’ll help,” she sighed as she heaved herself off the couch and grabbed a few paper towels.
“That’s what I freaking thought,” Jane laughed knowing only she could get Anne to clean.
“Cathy, could you please put your laptop away? They’re gonna be here any-” The doorbell rang.
“I got it!” Anne sprinted to the door. “Hey guys, come on in!”
“Annie!” Anne crouched to the ground and opened her arms. Lulu immediately bolted into them, and Anne picked her up and set her on her hip.
“Hey Lu! How are you kiddo?”
“Mama said we were coming over here to eat pizza and watch a movie! I’m so excited!”
“I also brought pie.” Jenna gestured to the two pies in her hands and the two in Jim’s.
“Wow Lu, what am I? Chopped liver?” Jane grabbed the pies from the baker’s hands.
“No silly! You’re Jane!”
“You can come in. The other girls are excited to meet you guys. They’re especially excited to meet you Miss Lu.”
“There’s more people?” Lulu began to look scared.
“Yeah honey. They’re friends of Jane and Anne’s though. I’m sure they’re very nice,” Jim tried. “Come on, why don’t we go meet them?”
Jane and Anne led them to the kitchen where Catherine was and set down the pies.
“Hey Lina. This is Jenna, Jim, and Lulu.” Aragon turned around and stuck her hand out.
“I’m Catherine. Nice to meet you guys. We’ve heard a lot about you since Jane started-” Catherine did a double take as she took in Jenna’s appearance. “You look a lot like Jane.”
“Don’t they look like sisters?” Jim laughed. “They don’t think so.”
“We don’t look alike Jim,” Jenna laughed at her husband. “I’ve told you before, she’s so much prettier.”
“Not true,” Jane piped up.
“Well that’s Catherine,” Anne told the little girl. “Do you wanna say hi?” Only then did the adults in the room see that Lulu was eyeing up the first queen.
“Hi,” she squeaked out before burying herself into Anne.
“Hi Lulu,” Catherine tried to make herself appear smaller. She knew she could come off as rather intimidating at some points, and she knew that she was certainly intimidating to the small girl. “I’ve heard so much about you. Jane says you like to color?” Lulu nodded her head but stayed silent.
“I’m so sorry Catherine. She gets a little shy around strangers sometimes, especially when we’re in new places,” Jenna apologized.
“No, it’s okay. I know I can be a little intimidating sometimes.”
“Once she warms up to you, she’ll be sweet as pie.”
“Speaking of pie, I’ve heard you're quite the expert pie maker?”
“I wouldn’t go that far,” Jenna waved off the compliment.
“Her pies are to die for. Don’t let her fool you.” Jim wrapped an arm around his wife.
“Can I tell you something hun?” Anne whispered to the girl clinging to her. “I know Catherine seems scary, but she’s not. She acts all tough, but she’s really just a big softy.”
“Promise?”
“Would I lie to you?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Why don’t we go settle into the living room and meet some of the others? Does that sound okay? We can pick out what kind of pizza we want, and watch a movie, and it’ll all be so much fun!” Anne tried to get the girl excited again.
Lulu thought for a moment before saying, “Okay.”
“Can I put you down?”
“Yes, but you have to hold my hand.”
“I can do that.” The pair walked out of the kitchen together.
“Anne sure does have a way with her,” Jenna noted.
“She’s a child at heart. Of course she does,” Aragon laughed lightly. “I’m sorry if I came across as scary. I’ll try to tone it down for her.”
“She’s used to it. Back home, my friend Becky used to scare her too, and now they’re like two peas in a pod.”
“And I’m Kat,” Katherine introduced herself to the little girl.
“Wow,” Lulu looked at her hair in amazement. “Your hair is so pretty.”
“Thanks! You can like, touch it if you want,” Katherine pulled her hair down from her signature ponytail for the girl. Jane, Jenna, Catherine, and Jim watched the little girl interact with the other queens who were now fawning over how cute the girl was.
“I see you met the other girls Lu. Could you introduce me?” Jenna encouraged her daughter.
“Yeah!” Lulu stood up excitedly. “This is Anna! She likes dogs!”
“Of course she would introduce herself that way,” Jane muttered.
“This is Cathy, and she told me she was going to write me a story!”
“Oh did she?” Jim laughed.
“Mhmm!” Lulu nodded her head very seriously. “And this is Kat, and Annie says that they’re cousins! And she has really cool hair!” The three girls smiled and waved at Jenna and Jim.
“Holy-” Anna cut herself off. “Seymour! You and your friend look so much alike!”
“No way,” Katherine couldn’t stop looking between the two. “This is crazy.”
“I told you!” Jim pointed at his wife. “See! It’s not just me!”
“You guys, we don’t look alike,” Jane tried to quiet her friends.
“No! You look like freakin’ sisters!” Cathy exclaimed. “If Jenna dyed her hair blonde, she would look just like you!”
“We don’t look alike.” The two said at the same time.
“Yes you do!” the queens and Jim yelled at them. The adults began to argue back and forth for a bit before Jane felt a small tug on her leg.
“Jane?” Lulu looked up at her.
“What’s up sweetheart?”
“You and Mama do look alike,” Lulu stated with a big grin on her face. “Now uh, can we get dinner?”
-
Jane and Lulu were walking to the diner one day after the blonde picked the girl up from school. The two were chatting casually hand in hand when two women interrupted them.
“Jenna?” The woman called. Because Jane wasn’t Jenna, she didn’t respond. “Jenna!” the woman tried again, but to no avail. “Lulu!” she tried one more time. At the sound of her friend’s daughter’s name, Jane turned around.
“Hello?”
“Woah,” the woman replied. “You’re not Jenna.”
“No, I’m not. Can I help you?” Jane held the little one’s hand protectively.
“Becky! Dawn!” Lulu cried and flung herself into the woman’s arms. When Jane realized the girl she was looking after recognized the two strangers, she relaxed.
“Hi little Lu!” Becky picked up the girl. “You’ve gotten so much bigger since I’ve seen you last!”
“Well, it has been like forever since I saw you!”
“I know sweet girl. Do you want to say hi to Dawn?” Lulu reached for the smaller framed woman.
“Hi Lulu!”
“What are you guys doing here?” the little girl exclaimed.
“We came to surprise Mama! We thought it was Mama holding your hand!”
“No! This is Jane! She’s my nanny and Mama’s friend. She’s really nice.”
“Jane Seymour.” Jane stuck her hand out for the other woman to shake.
“Becky.”
“I’m Dawn.”
“That name sounds so familiar,” Becky wondered aloud.
“Jane was in a broadway musical!” Lulu announced proudly.
“Wait a damn minute,” Becky drew out. “You were in SiX!”
“That would be me,” Jane replied awkwardly.
“Jenna wouldn’t shut up about you for the longest time when she came back home to visit. Kept going on about how wonderful you were and how your song really hit home for her.”
“Oh. I-”
“It’s a good thing.”
“Where are you guys going Miss Lu?” Dawn asked the girl in her arms.
“We’re going to see Mama!” She turned her attention to Jane. “Can they come with us?” Jane nodded, and the four went on their way.
“Jenna!” Becky made her appearance right away.
“Becky?” Jenna’s mouth dropped open. Then she spotted the other woman. “Dawn? Oh my god!” She quickly placed her tray on the counter and embraced her friends.
“Jane, these are my best friends from back home. Becky and Dawn.” The baker couldn’t wipe the grin off her face.
“Y’all look so much alike, this is crazy,” Becky looked at the two side by side.
“Why does everyone keep saying that?” Jenna asked. “We don’t look anything alike!”
“Mama, you really do look like Jane.”
-
After a while, Jane and Jenna were still confused. They didn’t think they looked alike. Then, an idea struck.
“Come here,” Jane called the waitress from her and Lulu’s booth.
“What’s up? Everything alright over here?”
“Tell your Mama what you just told me,” Jane told Lulu.
“Am I going to be upset with you Miss Lu?” Jenna’s tone went flat.
“No, it was kind of cute,” Jane laughed. “Don’t go all Mama on her.”
“I just told Jane that I think you should put up a poll on that Insagram thing about if you look alike or not,” Lulu shrugged. She didn’t know why Jane had to pull her Mama over.
“Well, shoot.” Jenna laughed. “Why didn’t we think of that? You’re so smart sweet child of mine.”
“Thanks Mama!”
“I thought it was kind of a good idea, and since I have somewhat of a following, people should answer?”
“Jane, you have over a million followers. That’s not somewhat of a following,” Jenna pointed out. “It’s not everyday a queen from the 1500s is reincarnated.”
“I suppose you’re right.”
“I am right.”
“Okay, fine. So, what do you say? Can you spare a moment to take a picture with me?”
“But I look like a mess. I’ve been in the kitchen all day.”
“Mama, you look nice today. Please?” The six year old gave her mama puppy dog eyes,
“Oh fine,” Jenna huffed. “Just gimme a second to fix my hair, okay? If I’m going to be seen by a bunch of people, I might as well look presentable.”
“You look fine dear,” the blonde assured her.
“Yeah right. You’re over there looking like a fu-reaking goddess, and I probably have flour in my hair. I’ll be back.”
“Do you think I could take the picture?” Lulu looked to Jane hopefully.
“I don't see why not sweet girl. Do you know how to do it?”
“Yeah. Mama and Daddy let me take pictures on their phones all the time.”
“Okay sweet thing,” Jane hummed. The pair colored for a few minutes until Jenna returned.
“Okay, let’s get this over with.”
The little girl took a few pictures of the two women she loved.
JaneySeymour: Hi friends! Jane here, with a dear friend of mine in her amazing diner @LulusPies (if you’re ever in NYC, you need to stop here and try a slice. It’s literally the most amazing pie I’ve ever had.) But anyway, I’m here to ask YOU a question! Do @JHunterson and I look alike? So many people (including the queens and @JPoms) think we do, but we just don’t see it! Let us know in the comments!
“We’ll just have to wait a few minutes and- oh look, someone commented already,” Jane laughed as she looked at her phone.
JPoms: YOU LOOK ALIKE JANE! GET OVER IT!
“Your daddy is so silly Lu,” Jenna chuckled when she saw the comment.
AnnieBoleyn: Girls, you two could be sisters and that’s that on that #sorrynotsorry
“Annie commented,” Jane told Lulu knowing it would excite her.
“What did she say?” Jane read the message to the girl who dissolved into a fit of giggles. “Oh Annie!” she snickered.
JHunterson: @JPoms, hun we know you think we look alike...
JaneySeymour: @AnnieBoleyn must you use that hashtag every time you comment anything ever?
AnnieBoleyn: #sorrynotsorry but @JHunterson looks so much like you
JaneySeymour: I guess I got my answer.
“Do we really live with them?” Jenna looked to Jane.
“I can’t believe we really do,” she sighed jokingly. “And willingly.”
“Did anyone else say anything?”
“Oh! Someone said that they really like your pies and that they stop into the diner every time they’re in New York! Oh, how sweet.”
“Oh, that is so kind.” It still baffled the baker that she had not one, but two successful diners- and one was in New York of all places.
“No Jane, about you two looking alike,” Lulu poked the woman’s cheek.
“Hey now hun,” Jenna gently told her daughter. “Give Jane some space.”
“Lu, you can sit with me if you want,” Jane tried. The girl in pigtails happily shifted her papers over to where Jane was sitting before making herself comfortable in the blonde’s lap.
“Oh, okay here Lu. Someone said, ‘ First off, that diner is FANTASTIC, and if you’re lucky enough, the little girl the diner’s named after will be there, and she is the sweetest little thing. Secondly, ARE YOU SURE YOU GUYS AREN’T SISTERS?! THE SIMILARITY IS INSANE’, and there are a lot more like that too. So, I guess we have our answer.”
“See Mama? I told you you guys looked alike,” Lulu giggled.
“I guess you’re right.” A realization hit Jenna. “Oh god.” She clapped her palm to her forehead.
“What is it?” Jane looked at her friend rather concerned.
“I have to deal with Jim telling me he was right when I get home.”
Jenna wasn’t wrong. He scrolled through the comment section of Jane’s post the entire night.

That One Time Caroline Forbes Lied to the Truth Circle
//klaroline au week// - day 7 - trope x trope best friend’s little sister x first time sex This is a long one, folks. NSFW. Enjoy!
xxx
There were many moments in Caroline Forbes’ life that led her to this excruciating moment.
God, dammmmit, how she wished to be literally anywhere else but here.
But she wasn’t anywhere else. She was here, and this was happening.
“Tyler after the football finals, in Junior year,” Elena stated.
“No, wasn’t it Matt? At that New Year’s party?” Bonnie chimed in. “Sorry, Bekah.”
“I’m well aware of Matt’s romance before me with not one, but two in this circle.”
“You know, Caroline,” Katherine said. “I don’t think I actually know this story?”
“Wait, I don’t think even I know this story, either,” said Elena.
“I don’t know if I want to know this story,” Stefan mumbled.
Bloody hell, bloody hell.
She could feel the honest truth forcing its way from her, she could not defy the sanctity of Truth or Dare! The mixture of honour and tequila in her blood wouldn’t allow it!
“What was the question again?” Caroline asked, feigning ignorance to buy a tiny bit more time.
“Who did you lose your virginity to?” the group chorused.
It was a story Caroline had kept as close to her chest as her heart itself, for more reasons than she could count, the main of which were sitting in that circle right now.
In a somewhat out of body experience – maybe brought on by the quart of tequila in her system, or maybe just from the sheer mortification of it all – Caroline could see very clearly every moment in her life that progressed her on this path. Whence she was but a wee four-year-old, all the way to the 22-year-old she was now.
It all started when her father left her mother, admitting he love for another man. It rocked the little conservative town of Mystic Falls, and left the little Forbes family a little littler. But at the end of the day, Caroline loved her father, loved her step father, and loved that they were happy.
Then there was her mother. Elizabeth Forbes, while rightly distraught about the divorce, was self-aware enough to know that her relationship with Bill was not true love. So when her high school sweet heart happened to move back to Mystic Falls, two motherless kids in toe, Liz took it as a sign from the universe. Only two years later, Liz Forbes became Liz Salvatore, and Caroline gained another step-father and two brothers, Damon and Stefan.
Caroline supposed Damon deserved an honourable mention in this memory-lane-trip. Because, at seven years her senior, Damon was a built-in babysitter for the youngest in their blended family. And Liz and Giuseppe grew quite comfortable with that fact, thank you very much. But as soon as Damon got his first set of car keys, there was no way in Mystic Falls – or even in hell, for that matter – he was sticking around to babysit his 9-year-old sister?
Of course, once Damon would no longer babysit Caroline, the Forbes/Salvatore parents just had to find someone. After all, Damon wouldn’t do it – because “DUH I have a life? Why are you trying to ruin to it?” – and Stefan, well Stefan was old enough at thirteen to get himself to and from school and extra-curricular activities. But he was certainly not old enough to mind Caroline. So who better to ask than Elijah Mikaelson. He was polite, whip smart, gracious, kind and the most charming teen in town. Elijah’s role in this entire saga, however, was to come into play years later.
And of course, of course, Stefan played a huge part. Stefan was her other big brother, and he was her yard stick for something that was cool. And, more pertinently, Stefan chose to become best friends with another of the Mikaelsons, Elijah’s younger brother, Klaus. But she would get to Klaus later.
Caroline supposed, there wouldn’t be this story without the rest of the Mikaelson family, would there? Finn, Kol, Rebekah, and Henrik. Finn didn’t really play his part, as innocuous as he was. But the three younger Mikaelsons certainly did, and their mother, Esther. If it hadn’t been for them, the events of that weekend, that Caroline was so reticent to share, happened as a direct result of their existence.
Caroline knew she had to take some responsibility. She had organised tonight’s event. She suggested playing their old high school favourite game. She was there that night. And it took two to tango, after all. But god, couldn’t they just drop it?
Which just brought her back to Klaus. None of this would be possible without Klaus.
Klaus was Stefan’s best friend, since nearly before Stefan was Caroline’s brother. The two had been inseparable their entire middle school lives, with not much changing well into their high school and college life. Klaus was smart, funny, and gorgeous, just like Stefan, and so of course they were quite the dominant pair strutting around Mystic Falls high.
Bloody Klaus. He always starred in the bits of her life she was most closed off about. He was the only one who saw her her bikini strap break when she was 13, leaving her chest completely bare. He’d quickly given her the giant pink flamingo he had been floating on, instructing her to use it to cover herself, while he grabbed a towel she could use. It was a moment that had completely mortified Caroline, but they had never mentioned it again.
He was also there when, at the age of 15, she had gotten tangled in the strappy sandals she was wearing to a party and fallen flat on the bitumen. He’d doubled over laughing, until she sat up dazed, blood running from a nasty, dirty cut on her face. His mirth had vanished and he rushed her to his house, which was much nearer than hers. She was his best friend’s little sister, of course he would look after her. That’s just what good people did. Caroline would never forget his 17-year-old fingers tenderly cleaning her wound, while she fidgeted distractedly. It was another moment they’d never spoken of again.
And of course, he played the starring role in the story they were trying to needle out of her right that very moment. It was a moment he had once again never mentioned again.
“So uhh... the question again…” Beetroot-red-Caroline squeaked.
“Come on, Caroline! Stop trying to weasel your way out of this!”
“A lady never kisses and tells,” Caroline said, positively willing the swelling in her face to go down. “Why are we playing this dumb game anyway?
“Caroline Elizabeth Forbes,” Elena said, sternly. “You will not sully the purity of the truth or dare circle!”
“You’ve been making all of us confess to our deepest darkest secrets for years, because of your insistence upon the integrity of this dumb game,” Bonnie chided.
“Yeah, Caroline,” Marcel drawled. “You made me admit all the stuff I did with Charlotte, while my new girlfriend was in the circle. You can cough up one lousy virginity story.”
Caroline helplessly looked from her friends to her brother, who just shrugged sympathetically. Stefan loved his sister, but she did have quite the way of squeezing people’s deepest secrets out of them.
“You’ve made your bed, Care,” Stefan said, ruffling her hair. “What do you think, Klaus, think she’s gotta suck it up and give us a bit of a story?”
Caroline turned her imploring eyes to Klaus.
“Please, I really don’t want to share this story,” Caroline said pointedly, almost as if she was talking directly to Klaus. “It’s private, you know.”
The protests from the group were instant. Caroline was usually the first person to tell you that you had to be honest and truthful, especially in truth or dare. It was the rules and what a better way to have hilarious fun that making people spill their secrets.
Klaus didn’t know why she was so reticent to sharing her first time story. Tyler had been her boyfriend, nothing saucy to ruffle her beautiful feathers. Just high school sweethearts trying things.
“Guys please,” Caroline beseeched.
“Nope, no way Caroline, those puppy dog eyes will not get you out of this!” Elena said, stubbornly.
“Come on, Care, it can’t be that bad!”
“Tyler wasn’t a bad guy even if he did peak in high school!”
“You gotta tell us!”
“Car-o-line! Car-o-line! Car-o-line!”
Suddenly someone in the group started chanting her name, the same way they chanted U-S-A on game days.
“Car-o-line! Car-o-line! Car-o-line!”
More and more people joined in, until the whole group was shouting, “Car-o-line! Car-o-line! Car-o-line!”, and crowding in on her.
“Fine!” she shouted, a little more aggressively that she would have liked, but it had the desired effect of shutting everyone up.
“I will not tell you who it was with, because that is my business,” she said, pompously. “But it was at that Founders’ Christmas party senior year.”
Before anyone else could protest her caginess, or even respond, Caroline was up and gone.
“The Founders’ Christmas party senior year?” Elena said, confused.
“I wasn’t there when you guys were seniors,” Stefan said.
“Neither was I,” Katherine added, and a number of the Mystic Fall alum nodded their absentia. “Esther hosted it, I think? I remember Elijah complaining about how tense Mama Mikaelson was about it.”
“Yes, that’s right,” Rebekah said, her eyes flicking to Klaus, shrewdly.
“Wait, Klaus, that was the year were there, right?” Stefan said, his brow furrowing, trying to pull details from his mind. “My parents and your mom roped you into going home to stay with Caroline, and help your mom. Do you remember Caroline hanging around anyone?”
“Not to my knowledge, no,” Klaus said, with every ounce of cool, calm, collectedness in the world.
“Caroline was so mad our parents made her have a babysitter,” Stefan chuckled at the memory. “It was probably because she wanted to shag this mystery person without anyone being any the wiser.”
“And none of us were!” Elena said. “I can’t believe she never told us! Why is it such a secret?”
“Who knows,” Kat said. “But also who cares, she’s not here anymore. Truth or dare, Stefan!”
As his best friend chose dare, Klaus sighed in a bit of relief, but also in revelation.
Opting to take a moment to collect his thoughts, Klaus left the circle to get something stronger to drink than beer; a goodly amount of the bottom shelf whiskey to be precise.
He gulped it all in one go because he lied. He lied to the whole truth circle.
Klaus did remember someone hanging around Caroline that weekend.
It was him.
xxx
Four years earlier.
It was four years prior to that fateful night when Elijah’s role in the humiliation had starred.
Elijah was Caroline’s faithful – or fateful as this case may be – babysitter all the way up until she turned 12, and Elijah regretfully moved away from college. Caroline would miss him, as he had been minding her twice to three times a week for the past three years. But when he left, Liz and Giuseppe, fell into the trap many parents do with their youngest, and decided Caroline was definitely mature enough at the ripe old age of twelve to take care of herself after school.
Sometimes she would hang out with Bonnie and Elena. Sometimes she would have an after school activity. Sometimes Stefan would let her tag along to whatever he was doing. But most days though, Caroline took herself home, and hung out by herself until her brother, or parents came home.
It was a good, independent life, even if a tad lonely. Perfect for someone as old as her.
So, imagine when, in her final year of high school, after six whole years of being her own babysitter, Giuseppe and Liz were going to be away for a week on a business trip, turned mini-vacation, and they insisted on finding someone to stay with Caroline. As she was too young to stay by herself, for a whole week after all.
This offended Caroline on many levels.
She was eighteen, for heaven’s sake. She would have school during the day, she’d been a lone ranger in the after school hours for years. She wasn’t suddenly going to be terrified at night by herself?
And what was she supposed to get up to at night anyway? Sure, she was a party animal, and the best party planner her age, but there was absolutely no way any of the year would go to an illicit party at the Salvatore house. Caroline was the daughter of the town sheriff; that wrath was a fate no teenager would willingly bring on.
Caroline made these arguments loudly, infuriatedly, and petulantly. But nope her parents would not have it.
“You can look after yourself sweetie, we know,” they implored her. “But we just don’t want to be worrying about you all alone while we’re trying to relax.”
Caroline’s protests didn’t change, but neither did theirs.
They, of course, asked Stefan first.
“Please Stefan,” they said over the phone. “She’s your sister, and you love her.”
And Stefan did love her. Caroline was his favourite girl in the whole world, and he couldn’t wait until she lived in the same college town as he did so they could party their lives away together. But there was no way in hell he was giving up a weekend just to go home and mind his baby sister. Not this close to finals. Not when he almost convinced Valerie Tulle to finally go out with him.
And especially not because Caroline had text him before their parents even called him, and threatened the life of his Bon Jovi vinyl collection if he agreed.
So Stefan had politely declined his parents, citing a very imminent, very important, but also quite vague exam in his reasoning.
So, the Forbes-Salvatore parents half-heartedly ran the request past Damon.
“Please Damon,” they begged him. “She’s your sister and you love her.”
And Damon did love her, at least begrudgingly – it was hard not to love the bouncy ball of blonde. But there was not a chance that he would leave the office for an entire week, only to drive from New York to Mystic Falls to mind his younger sister.
And especially not when Caroline text him, begging to turn down their parents. She just wanted some alone time.
So he declined his parents – “Wall Street doesn’t just take vacations.”
Maybe if Elijah had never been he babysitter, Caroline’s mother and step-father would have left their search at Stefan and Damon. And given up the whole search as a bad job.
But no.
This was when Liz and Giuseppe even went as far as calling Elijah.
Luckily, for Caroline though, her former babysitter, as touched as he was that they still thought so highly of him, was busy in the first few months of a new job, so was unavailable.
And after that, Caroline honestly thought she had won. Who on earth would they ask? She was 18! She didn’t need a baby sitter. No one in their right mind would agree to baby sitting an 18-year-old.
At least, that’s what she thought, until approximately three days before her parents were due to leave and Liz came in to where Caroline was studying to talk to her.
“So, Klaus is going to be here at about 5pm on Saturday, does that sound okay? You’ll be okay for the rest of the day?”
“Wait, what?” Caroline exclaimed, slightly thrown.
“Klaus is staying here while we’re away this week, remember? I thought I’d run it by him, given that Elijah was always so reliable, and he is, after all, Stefan’s best friend,” Liz said, seemingly baffled that her daughter didn’t know this information. “I told you all this last week?”
“Oh my god, what? No you didn’t?!”
“I did wonder why you didn’t put up more of a fight,” Liz mused. “Well, this isn’t up for discussion, Caroline. He’s basically just here anyway so we don’t have to worry about you here alone at night. Klaus is here for the week, and that’s final.”
And with that, Liz turned on her heel and went back to packing, leaving a tongue tied Caroline in her wake.
And so sat a truly grumpy Caroline that Saturday, waiting exasperatedly for her ‘babysitter’ to arrive.
When the knock at the door came, just after 5pm, as Liz had promised, Caroline pulled open the door a fiery look in her eyes.
“What on earth were you thinking?” she griped, without so much as a ‘hello’. “Did it not occur to you that I’m actually an adult? I don’t need a sitter.”
“Well hello to you too, love,” he drawled, giving her that wicked grin he always gave when he was stirring the pot. “I wasn’t aware that I was so unwanted in this household.”
“Don’t be cute with me, Klaus,” Caroline snipped, not having any of it. “Like, didn’t you even ask Stefan? Did it not cross you little mind to go ‘hey, best friend, your parents want me to babysit your adult sister for a week, why can’t you do it?’”
The final sentence Caroline put on her best mockery of his English accent, and flopped melodramatically onto the nearest couch.
“If you had asked that,” Caroline continued, now addressing the ceiling in the living room. “You would know that they did ask Stefan and he refused because I asked him to. I don’t want baby sitting! I just want to be able to use my house the way I want to for a change!”
Caroline felt her own frown so deep, so petulant, on her face, that she wryly admitted to herself, maybe she wasn’t as mature as she liked to think she was. But that wasn’t the point.
“I could have eaten whatever I wanted. Danced to loud, cringe music. I could have studied with no pants on! And now I don’t have that!”
Klaus just grinned his little grin, and picked up his bag.
“I’m sorry for ruining your no-pants plans, Caroline.”
Which was all he said before trying to dart upstairs to put his bag in the spare room.
“That’s your take away?” Caroline cried, dragging herself from the couch. “That I just wanted to wear no pants for the week? Nothing about the fact I can, as a matter of fact, look after myself!”
Klaus laughed at her, she really looked so completely stubborn and done with him already.
“Love, eat whatever, dance to whatever, wear pants, wear no pants, it’s all the same to me,” Klaus replied. “You can pretend I’m not here as much as you like. In fact, that might be the best outcome for us both.”
With that, and a wink, Klaus shut the spare room door in Caroline’s face, which only served to infuriate the Forbes woman even more.
With another giant huff, Caroline stomped back down the stairs, and flopped again on the living room couch again.
It was a few hours later when Klaus resurfaced.
In those hours, Caroline hadn’t done much more than sulk about her situation, but she also baked a cake, and started cooking dinner, feeling ever so slightly bad about her nastiness and petulance.
He was, after all, just being a good family friend, even if it did irritate Caroline’s personal preferences. And she liked Klaus. Of course she did, she’d know him forever. And it would be a little bit not awful to not have to be alone the entire week.
As he strode down the stairs, the garlic-y smells of a pasta sauce filled his nose.
If he were honest, Klaus had been wary of agreeing to this week. Rightly so, apparently. She was his best friend’s little sister, not exactly the top of the list of activities for a college student.
But soon after he got the call from Liz, and before he had a chance to talk to Stefan, Klaus received a call from his mother, Esther. And Esther told him, in no uncertain terms, he would accept Liz’s offer. Much like Caroline’s, Klaus’ protestations had fallen on unsympathetic ears. Esther’s insistence that Klaus came to stay with Caroline was just as much about her own personal gain. As a self-employed event planner and mother of six, Esther found herself with more to do than sense most of the time.
She was putting on the biggest event of the year for Mystic Falls, and with still three kids at home she thought she may forget to feed them amidst all the kerfuffle which was the week leading up to the Founders’ Christmas party. So, when Liz mentioned asking Klaus to stay with Caroline, Esther knew she would feel much better with an extra pair of hands on deck.
“During the school hours, Niklaus,” Esther said, sternly down the phone. “You will cook food for the fridge, and the freezer, so the kids can help themselves. You will run any errands I need of you. And you will do the school pick up and drop off.”
Klaus had, obviously, groaned, but was secretly glad for the excuse to say yes. He enjoyed going to Mystic Falls, because college sometimes became a little too much. It would be good to unwind a little. And even if his mother was going to be in her high-strung planning mood Klaus could vanish in the evening, because after all, he had an obligation to Caroline.
It would be a nice week.
“So,” Klaus said, leaning on the kitchen bench, feeling a little awkward. Sure he and Caroline had spent a small amount of time alone over their lives, but definitely nothing like this, and definitely not in a number of years.
“So,” Caroline mimicked.
“I suppose, I hardly even know much about you these days, sweetheart,” he said, flashing his signature dimples at her. “Your hopes, dreams, everything you want in life.”
Caroline just scoffed while stirring the pasta, though unexpectedly, even to himself, Klaus was delighted to see a slight blush, and just a feather of a smile settle on her face.
“Come on, Caroline,” he said. “I’m serious! You have to talk to me at some point. I am here all week, remember?”
“Uh! Don’t remind me!” she groaned. “Why did you agree to stay here anyway?”
“My mother is planning the Founders’ Christmas thing next weekend,” Klaus said, picking at some of the carrots Caroline cut for the pasta. “She demanded I agree to stay with you, so I can help her while you’re at school.”
“Why couldn’t she just ask you to stay with her and help her?” Caroline asked.
“I assume because she thought it would be a much more attractive offer for me,” Klaus shrugged. “Here with you is likely to be a lot calmer fro me than if I stay there.”
Caroline nodded, but was distracted from answering, as Klaus tried to nab a couple more bits of vegetable to snack on.
“Hey!” she chided. “That’s to go with dinner, keep your grubby paws off!”
Klaus laughed, and waited until she turned back to the saucepan on the stove, before grabbing a piece anyway and popping them into his mouth.
“I heard that,” Caroline snapped. “See, I’m already regretting you being here.”
From there, the rest of the evening was fine. Caroline was still mildly annoyed she had a babysitter, but, she reasoned, Klaus wasn’t so bad.
If the task had fallen to Elijah, Caroline would definitely have felt obliged to be a host the whole week. If it was Damon, he would have made her be his minion the entire time. If it was Stefan, the week would have been them having a semi-party every night, and Caroline would have gotten absolutely no work done.
So, if there was any outcome that required a babysitter, this was the best one.
Klaus gave her company at meal times, but gave her space when she wanted it.
Though, when school finished on Tuesday, a couple of days later, Caroline felt herself not wanting as much space as usual. It had been a long, boring day at school, and even though cheer practice after school had been fun, Caroline was still looking for a bit of interaction.
“Klaus,” Caroline called as she came in from practice. “Klaus, are you here?”
There was no answer.
Curiously, she nosed her way around the house, looking for her current housemate. There was definite evidence that he was around, his car in the drive for one, but there was not a sound nor a movement to alert her to his whereabouts.
“Ka-lau-ssss,” she said, exasperatedly. “Jeez, I finally start wanting you around the damn house, and now you’re suddenly Harry Houdini!”
“Oh, you want me now do you?”
Caroline jumped about a foot in the air, as Klaus spoke into her ear.
“What on earth is your game?” Caroline shrieked, punching him in the chest. “You’re supposed to be babysitting me! Not trying to kill me!”
Klaus just laughed at her – a habit that was becoming far too common, if you asked Caroline.
“Not trying to kill you, love,” he said, mirth still laced in his voice. “Just trying to entertain myself.”
“Can’t you entertain yourself by getting yourself off, like a normal college student,” Caroline huffed, still trying to slow her heart rate.
Though, her statement didn’t do a great job of slowing her heart rate, as she considered the substance of what she said.
“Been thinking about me getting myself off, sweetheart?” Klaus said, slipping a little flirt into his voice, before he could stop himself.
“No! I just… I was just saying… shut up!” Caroline spluttered, going an excellent shade of pink.
“Come on, love,” he goaded, still with that inexplicable flirt in his voice. “It’s not that disgusting a thought is it?”
His eyes were locked with hers, and she could feel herself crumbling a little under his gaze. He had kissed boys before, and done other things with them, but she’d never really explored much. And it was wildly inappropriate to wonder about her older brother’s best friend as a sexual being, but she definitely found herself doing it in that moment.
She had to shake herself a little after a moment, and unable to find the right way to answer to Klaus’ question, she ignored it.
“I thought we could have pizza for dinner,” Caroline said. “Maybe go for a walk or watch a movie? I’m still full of energy after cheer practice, I don’t want to just sit in my room and ignore you like I did last night.”
Klaus opted to allow for the change of subject.
“Have extra energy, love? I’m sure I can think of something we can entertain ourselves somehow.”
Well, almost.
Caroline rolled her eyes, hard, and stalked away from him.
“Fine!” she growled. “I thought it could be nice, but since you can’t keep your mind from the gutter, Klaus, I’ll just…. Entertain myself!”
Caroline by this point, was at her bedroom door, and managed to slam it in his face. And she felt quite proud of her timing, until she heard a hearty laugh from the other side of the door, and Caroline realised exactly what she said.
She groaned loudly to herself. Though was inconveniently still thrumming with energy from the day, just now with a second lot of energy joining the rest.
Later that night, it was Klaus’ turn to cook Caroline a silent apology meal. The same way she cooked for him the night he arrived.
He wasn’t sure what had got into him. Winding up Caroline was just such a delicious exercise. The shades of pink she turned, the entendres she inadvertently made, the adorably over the top facial expressions he elicited. It was just quite fun.
But after an hour of feeling a little pleased with himself about it all, he started feeling a little guilty.
She was an adult, and she was an exceptionally beautiful adult – although he’d never let himself admit that to himself before and never would again (she was Stefan’s sister after all) – but she was still young. It wasn’t like he was 1000-years-old and she just 18 – he was only two years older than her – but he didn’t know where she was on her sexual journey. Flirting her into knots when he was quite confident in his sexuality, and she not so much, just felt a bit ick.
Klaus decided as much fun as flirting with Caroline had been, he was going to leave that ball in her court, so to speak. If she wanted to flirt with him overtly, then he would pick up what she put down, but wouldn’t initiate it.
“Hey Klaus,” Caroline said softly, when she finally surfaced for dinner. “This isn’t pizza.”
She still had a bit of pent up energy, but was wary because of before. Although it felt surprisingly good to flirt with Klaus, she felt it was a bit of a dangerous line to toe.
“Well spotted,” he intoned, sardonically. “I thought we could partake in a well loved, alliterative tradition; Taco Tuesday.”
Caroline smiled a little brighter. If he wasn’t going to mention earlier, then neither would she.
“That sounds nice!” she replied. “I have some tequila upstairs if you want margaritas to go with it?”
“Caroline Elizabeth Forbes!” Klaus exclaimed, in mock indignance. “It’s a school night!”
She rolled her eyes in response, and flounced upstairs to get the bottles she needed.
When she came back down, she set to work on the cocktails for the two of them.
“You know Caroline,” Klaus said. “I still don’t know much about you anymore. Tell me about yourself.”
“What don’t you know about me? You’ve known me since you were like eight?” Caroline said, squeezing a lime.
“Be that as it may, I hardly paid you any mind while in high school, and now I don’t live here,” Klaus reasoned. “Have you made any decisions about what or where you’ll study?”
“Not really,” she began, before thinking a couple moments longer. “I’d obviously love to do event planning or management. It would really be in keeping with skills I already have, but on the other hand, why waste money on a degree in something I’m already basically professional at. Another thing that was interesting to me was broadcast journalism, but as mom so rudely, but very fairly, pointed out, I barely watch the news as it is. I could do nursing, though blood makes me a bit squeamish.”
As Caroline continued to chatter about what she might want to do with her life, Klaus watched her, and noted the fondness he felt toward her. It was nice listening to her.
“I’m just rambling though, sorry,” Caroline said, a little embarrassed of herself. “I’m always doing that.”
“Not a problem in the slightest, Caroline,” Klaus said, throwing her a genuine smile. “It is nice.”
Caroline smiled shyly back at him, and blushed a little. He sounded so sincere, and it was so at odds with her usual interactions with Klaus.
“Any other thoughts on your future?” Klaus asked.
“Not really,” Caroline said. “I know people think I’m so planned and structured. But I think I want to go with the flow for a while, work out who I am before I settle for anything.”
“That’s very wise, love,” he said. “And I believe our food is ready.”
“Perfect timing!” Caroline grinned. “Margaritas are too!”
“Shall we take our dinner in the lounge?”
“No way, you animal!” Caroline laughed, grabbing the margarita jug in one hand and the glasses in the other. “We are having party food, which means we dine in the party room!”
“The den, I take it?”
“Correct!”
With that, Caroline was off, leaving Klaus to bring all the dishes for dinner into the den, where Caroline was setting up some elaborate game for them already.
“Steady on, sweetheart!” Klaus laughed at her. “How are we supposed to eat and play beer pong at the same time?”
“Oh, Klaus, honey, this isn’t beer pong!” Caroline laughed. “It’s the greatest board game you’ll ever play. I’m prototyping a drinking game for when I go to college.”
“Silly me,” Klaus drawled. “Explain the rules while we eat. But tuck in love, before it gets cold.”
The two friends whiled away the next few hours playing Caroline’s game. Klaus had to hand it to her, the girl knew what made a good drinking game.
It was just after 11pm when they decided to stop playing. Even by that time, there was not a clear winner.
“This is why I am prototyping, Klaus!” Caroline said, swatting playfully at him. “So I can discover where there are holes in the game play. I obviously have to work on the point system more!”
Both of them were definitely well past tipsy, but not quite properly drunk yet. They were in that happy, buzzing period where everything was that little bit heightened. Jokes were funnier, jibes were more meaningful, and flirts were more sensual.
“I probably should go to bed,” Caroline said through her buzz. “Or I’ll regret this in the morning.”
“How could you regret such quality time with me, my love?” Klaus teased.
“Oh so I’m your love now, am I?” Caroline giggled. “Not just a plain old love.”
“You get special consideration for making me laugh,” Klaus stated, matter-of-factly.
“I get it,” Caroline said, as she sprung up from the couch. “There’s levels, am I right?”
“And what on earth do you mean by that, Caroline,” he replied, getting up to follow after her.
“Oh you know,” she said, as she began climbing the stairs. “Everyone gets ‘love’, right? The ones you like a little more get ‘sweetheart’. And then the best people get ‘my love’?”
Caroline stopped midway up the stairs to turn around and raise her eyebrows triumphantly at him. Klaus, stopped his ascent when he was just a step below her, and he was awfully close to her. But in this tipsy state, he didn’t much mind.
“That’s right, my love,” Klaus said, cockily.
She leaned in, her face so close to his, he could count the freckles on her cheeks. Even though she was a full step above him, she was just at his eye level. Her heavy eyes bored into his and Klaus could have sworn her eyes flicked to his lips. And he certainly would by lying to himself if he said his eyes didn’t flick to hers.
“That’s what I thought,” Caroline said, her voice as low as he ever heard it.
With her eyes still locked with his, a tiny, mischievous smile lit her face, and she began chewing on her bottom lip.
It was Caroline unlike he’d ever seen her before. Enticing, intriguing, exciting. And that was enough to make him want her. But add just a hint of the forbidden in the mix, and boy, did it make her that much more alluring.
She leaned in a fraction closer, and Klaus was sure he was about to feel the glory of her lips on his, when his phone started buzzing loudly in his pocket.
Caroline visibly shook herself, apparently regaining her composure much faster than he was able to.
“You should get that.”
The voice was still Caroline’s, it was still kind and melodic, but he couldn’t help but feel he lost something secret.
“Klaus, the phone,” Caroline urged.
Finally pulled from his trance, Klaus reached into his pocket to grab his still ringing phone.
“Hello,” he answered.
“Klaus!”
Caroline only heard a loud voice excitedly say Klaus’ name, and she already heard enough.
With nothing more than a gesture upstairs to her bedroom, Caroline was off to sleep.
She didn’t escape fast enough, before she heard the tail end of Klaus’ conversation.
“I’m busy,” he said. “Hanging out with the best people. Goodbye.”
Hearing that made a warm glow spread through her.
It was still alight within her the next night when she and Klaus were sitting in the lounge watching a movie after dinner.
“So, am I invited to the event this weekend?” Caroline asked, about 45 minutes into the movie.
“It’s the founders’ Christmas party. You are part of two founding families, Caroline,” Klaus replied, sardonically. “I think you have a weightier invitation than I do.”
Caroline just laughed.
“But in all seriousness,” Klaus said. “Mother made a point of saying just today to make sure you come along. You’ll be the only representative of the Forbes and Salvatore family in attendance this year apparently.
“I guess that’s right,” Caroline said, pondering. “I will be all alone!”
“You will hardly be alone, love,” Klaus said, chuckling at her dramatics. “Elena and Bonnie will be there.”
“No actually,” Caroline said. “Elena and Jeremy are going to some family reunion thing out of town, and Bonnie is will be visiting her cousin.”
“What about my siblings?”
“Come on, Klaus,” Caroline chided. “All of them will have their friends there. Plus, your sister is dating Matt, my ex. Not super keen to hang out with those two just yet, as much as I like them both.”
“Well, there’s nothing else for it,” Klaus stated, with a tiny wink. “You’ll have to be my date for the evening.”
“I’ll have to be your date, will I?” Caroline asked, a little coolly.
“Yes you will, my love,” Klaus teased.
Caroline laughed, her faux-cool exterior cracking.
“Fine, I’ll be your date, Klaus,” Caroline said, that flirtatious smile back on her face. “But only if you wear a suit, and court me somehow. And get me a gift, obviously. I don’t put out otherwise.”
“I wouldn’t dream of you putting out for me, sweetheart,” he replied, trying desperately to play it as cool as she seemed to be. “But I can definitely find a suit.”
“I’m going to hold you to that,” she replied.
At that moment, she hauled herself up from the couch, and began to pick up the plates in front of them, left over from dinner.
“Don’t worry about that yet, love,” Klaus said, covering her hand with his, and gently indicating to leave the chores for later.
Caroline flicked her eyes from their joined hands to his eyes.
“Stay,” he urged.
Caroline let herself be pulled back onto the couch, although this time she was far closer to Klaus than she had been, and he did not let go of her hand. And she wasn’t quite sure why, but she felt very comfortable to stay tangled up in him.
For the remainder of the film, neither of them spoke much, other than a bit of banter dragging the movie, but their bodies stayed close, and their hands locked. Every now and then Caroline would stroke her foot delicately along Klaus’ leg, or Klaus would draw circles with his thumb on her skin.
After it finished, they stayed in a similar state of sweet, both ignoring the complete insanity of what they were doing; just chatting, laughing, teasing.
And that’s how it was for the next couple of days. They spent every possible moment together; furtive glances, lingering touches, and enough entendre to keep both of them dizzy for each other. Though they still hadn’t taken it any further. While it was just implied attraction, it seemed much easier to deny.
When Saturday morning dawned, Caroline could hardly contain her excitement.
Now, she had been giving herself stern talking tos all week, because she knew once her parents were home, and Klaus left, things would go right back to the way they were. It would be like he was never there.
She knew that. She knew it would be that way, she knew it would have to be that way, she knew, no matter what this dalliance was, Klaus wouldn’t let it be any other way. And frankly, she wouldn’t let it be any other way.
But gosh, for the moment, it felt damn good to be so wrapped up in someone.
“Morning, my love,” Klaus yawned, as he came down the stairs the morning of the party. “Sleep well?”
“Yeah! Really well,” Caroline replied. “I was thinking of making pancakes for breakfast. Sound good?”
Klaus nodded his affirmative, before turning to put a pot of coffee on.
“What plans do you have for the day?” Klaus asked, just as the coffee machine began to whirr.
“Not really much, just breakfast, relax a bit, then I’ll start getting ready for the party at some point,” Caroline replied, smiling at him. “I have a very handsome date tonight?”
“Do you just?”
And boy, did she just.
Because later that day, as she descended the stairs, she nearly choked. For, standing at the bottom of the steps, with that god-damn perfect smirk quirking his lips, was Klaus, looking positively devastating in a crisp dark, navy suit.
“You scrub up well, Mikaelson,” Caroline praised, managing to keep her cool, and keep from actually choking.
“As do you, Forbes,” Klaus replied. “You are stunning.”
And she was. Her off-the-shoulder dress was the perfect package, for such a beautiful woman. Klaus honestly wasn’t sure how he was going to go back to Caroline being just his best friend’s little sister. Maybe he could never go back.
“I got you something,” Klaus said, handing her a long, thin box.
Caroline’s brow furrowed slightly, even though her eyes were wide, as she took the gift. She popped the lid of the box, and was met with a sparkling bracelet twinkling back at her.
“Klaus, it’s beautiful,” she said, in awe. “But I can’t accept this.”
“Come now, Caroline. This is that gift you demanded,” Klaus chuckled, taking the bracelet from her hand and beginning to attach it to her wrist. “Although, I still don’t expect you to put out, even though I met your demands.”
Caroline laughed out loud, remembering their conversation from days before.
“You really know how to make a girl feel special, don’t you?” Caroline asked.
“Only the very best,” he replied, winking. “But we best be off. Mother will have my bow tie, and the head above it, if we are too late.”
“Yeah, you know the bow tie? Weird choice.”
Before too long, the two of them were stepping through the doors of the Mikaelson Mansion – the scene for the party that particular evening.
Caroline really was in awe of Mrs Mikaelson and her unrivalled ability to put on a show. Everything was twinkling, or sparkling, the soft music playing in the background was classy but not the usual boring string music that normally played at this sort of thing.
“Niklaus! Caroline!”
The hostess herself swanned over to the almost couple the moment they were through the door.
“It is so lovely to have you both here.”
“Thank you for having me, Mrs Mikaelson,” Caroline said, sweetly. “This place looks amazing.”
“Yes, mother,” Klaus interjected. “You’ve truly outdone yourself.”
“Oh, stop it,” the older woman beamed. “I’m glad you two are here, now the grand total of young people is at about 15. I did so hope more of your classmates would come along, Caroline.”
“Me too,” Caroline sympathised. “But you know this time of year, just so busy!”
“Yes, yes, well, I suppose,” Esther said, as another few guests arrived. “I must be off, do enjoy yourselves, and say goodbye before you leave.”
With that, the Mikaelson matriarch was off, leaving Caroline and Klaus to the party.
The two of them walked deeper into the house, a little awkwardly. They had been cooped up all week, just the two of them, and now they were out in the open, not particularly sure how to interact.
“Maybe we get some drinks?” Klaus said.
“Yeah, as if they’ll serve us alcohol. We’re both underage. Your mom’s the host, my mom’s the sheriff!”
“We can have orange juice or coke, sweetheart,” Klaus chuckled.
“Hi you two!” a voice said, from behind them.
It was Rebekah, who was holding a bit too tightly to her boyfriend’s hand.
“Hi,” Caroline said back, tensing a little. She was over Matt, she had to remind herself. “You guys having a good time.”
“Yes!” Rebekah exclaimed. “Most of my friend group is here. Not many seniors though, just you and Matt as far as I can tell.”
“Yeah,” Caroline said. “Honestly, though, without Bonnie and Elena, I’m pretty fresh out of my best buddies.”
Rebekah laughed in response, and then launched into her thoughts on Caroline’s current routines about the cheer squad.
The two girls spoke for a while, Matt and Klaus making gruff males-who-don’t-have-much-in-common small talk, until the lights lowered further, and the stately classical music, gave way to more popular tunes played by a DJ.
“Oh my gosh, Matt! It’s our song!” Rebekah shrieked, as a fairly non-descript pop song began to play.
With that, they were off into the middle of the crowd, dancing joyfully.
Caroline felt a little pang in her chest. Partly out of the loss of such an easy boyfriend, as Matt was. But more for the fact that she and Klaus didn’t have a song, and never would. Tomorrow, her parents would be home, Klaus would be gone, and their moment would be over.
She and Klaus stood watching the crowd for a few minutes, when the song changed, and a Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas began to play.
“Care to dance, my love?” Klaus asked, almost tenderly.
She smiled, and let him lead her into the fray.
He pulled her close, close enough to drive them both crazy, but still far enough away to maintain that increasingly elusive plausible deniability.
“Does that make this our song?” Klaus murmured to her as they held each other.
“Do we need a song?” Caroline asked, doubtfully.
He didn’t answer, but he did pull her fractionally closer, even as he cast his eyes downward for a moment.
They remained silent for the rest of the song, though as the next started, Caroline’s face cracked into a smile.
“You know what, yes,” she said. “That is our song. I’ve had a really great time this week Klaus, no matter what.”
“Me too, my love,” he said, softly.
“Why don’t we get going?” Caroline asked, as though making an internal decision. “We can play loud music back at the Salvatore mansion, and maybe make our fun.”
Klaus nodded briskly, and she strode away from him. Following after her at a slower pace, his heart sped up slightly at the thought of what Caroline maybe had in mind. His best friend’s sister she may have been, but Klaus couldn’t deny the way his body had been consistently reacting to her the past few days.
“You two leaving so soon?”
Esther caught them as they were right at the exit. Klaus hoped Caroline would have an excuse because he certainly didn’t know how to explain to his mother that he was leaving her party early, with a girl, to go back to the girl’s empty house.
“Yes, Mrs Mikaelson,” Caroline said, with sincere sadness in her voice. “I have been trying to be really strict with my curfew lately, being a senior and all. I’ve got to keep my nose down if I want to get into my first choice college.”
“If it’s for college, I suppose I can’t fault your commitment to your studies.”
“I can send Klaus back after he’s dropped me off, if you’d like?”
“Only if he wants to, Caroline,” Esther replied. “I have a feeling he only came today because you were interested. Niklaus will do what Nikaus wants, and nothing more.”
“Okay then, we better get going then,” Caroline said with a bright, charming smile. “Thank you so much for having us. You wait until I tell the girls at school what they missed because they had plans!”
Klaus bid his mother goodbye, and the two were off.
“You should win an academy award for that performance, Ms Forbes,” Klaus quipped.
“That’s because it’s not untrue!” Caroline said to him, as they both clambered into the car. “You’ve been a horrible influence on me! Since the start of semester, every week night, I’ve been in bed before ten, and every weekend I’ve been in by eleven. Admittedly, it’s only nine now, but still.”
“I didn’t realise I was in such proper company,” Klaus joked.
“Oh shush, I can party after I get into college, and I have no idea what I want to do, so I’m keeping my options open.”
“So, if I call on you for a party the moment you finish finals, I can be sure of party animal Caroline in full force.”
“You sure can, Klaus, and that’s a promise.”
Klaus smirked, as he started the drive back to the Salvatore house. He fully intended to collect on that promise.
“So, what do you want to drink?” Caroline asked, when they arrived back.
“Whatever you’re having love,” Klaus said.
“I don’t think I’ll have any,” she said, before winking. “I don’t need alcohol to have fun.”
“I’m sure you don’t, sweetheart,” Klaus said. “But it sure can help get the fun started.”
“Yeah, I know,” Caroline said. “But, I meant what I said to you earlier. I’ve been really bad this week. It’s been so fun with you, but I want to at least be able to look my parents in the face tomorrow and not have to lie about boozing all night tonight.”
“Right you are, love,” Klaus smiled. “Not an enviable task I’m sure; lying to the sheriff.”
“Do you want something to eat?” Caroline asked, striding into the kitchen. “The food at the party was lovely, but it sure was small.”
Klaus chuckled, he knew what she meant. Finger food was always the choice of snack for that sort of party.
“We came back to have our own party,” Klaus replied. “So party food is always a good start.”
Klaus was leaning against the kitchen bench when Caroline pulled out some ingredients to make grilled cheese sandwiches for them both.
When they polished off the sandwiches, Klaus looked at Caroline, his head tilted to the side.
“What now?” he asked her.
“Are you sure you don’t want a drink?” she checked.
“My eyes will be as open as yours, Caroline.”
“Do you want to watch a movie?”
“That could be nice,” he replied, though he noticed an unfamiliar, but exciting glint in her eyes.
“Or we could do something else,” Caroline said, as she pushed herself off the counter to looped her fingers though his belt loops and pulled him closer to her.
Klaus settled his hands on her waist, his mouth a little dry, and his heart pounded a somewhat faster. She was looking at him with such determination, and any resolve he pretending to have wavered.
And then she pressed her soft lips to his, and it completely crumbled.
When Klaus would replay that night in his head, as he secretly would many times in the years to come, he would always edit in a pause, where he showed some semblance of restraint, where he didn’t kiss back straight away.
But in reality, so lost was he in instant euphoria, he fell headlong into the moment.
He brought his hands up to cup her face, pulling it even closer than it already was. He tilted his head to the other side to open his mouth, and deepen the kiss.
For the intensity of the moment, it was still quite innocent.
After a few more seconds, Caroline pulled away, her nose and cheeks delightfully rose coloured, her pupils dilated.
She sucked her lips a little nervously, and looked at him through her long lashes. She ran her hands down his arms to interlock her fingers with his. Without saying a word, unable to get enough, he placed a few chaste kisses to her lips.
“Klaus,” she said, her voice laden. “Do you want to go upstairs?”
He softly, playfully, ran his nose up the side of her face, until his eyes met hers, he smiled faintly, and nodded.
Caroline used their linked hands to lead Klaus from the kitchen, up the stairs, stopping at her bedroom door.
“Are you sure, Caroline?” Klaus asked.
“Are you?” she replied.
“Yes.”
The word hung between them, signing away any plausibly deniability. But they were both too wrapped in each other to quite mind.
Caroline opened the door, and let him in.
For the first time since Caroline kissed him, Klaus was curious to the world beyond her. He had never been into her room before, in all the years he’d been in and out of that house.
It was tastefully decorated, of course it was, and had such an eclectic mix of trinkets and doo-dads from Caroline’s life. A photo of her, Elena, and Bonnie as young girls, a souvenir model of the Eiffel Tower, a figurine of Harry Potter, her Miss Mystic Falls trophy. It was such a study in Caroline, and he felt his heart clench at the thought that beyond tomorrow, he would no longer be able to study her.
As Klaus appraised her room, Caroline appraised herself in her mirror. She noted her extra flushed complexion, and her mildly smudged make up. She noticed her slender shoulders, and how striking she actually looked. She wondered how Klaus saw her.
As she gazed upon herself, she wondered if this was the right thing to do. She had always imagined having sex for the first time with someone she loved, or at least someone she was in a relationship with. Klaus was neither of those things.
Sure, she fancied him a bit. And had for a long time, but in the way girls tended to do about their older siblings’ friends. She’d fancied Damon’s friend Ric for a while as well, didn’t mean she wanted to sleep with him.
She wasn’t sure what it was about Klaus, but she wanted him.
Plus, she was sick of pretending. Half the people at school thought she’d slept with Matt, and the other half thought it was Tyler. Even Bonnie and Elena just assumed she had. They never really asked her, more wrapped up in their own drama. And it was always something she was too awkward about to correct.
With both Matt and Tyler, they’d done some stuff, but Caroline had never felt comfortable enough with them or with herself, to want to take that next step.
But with Klaus, boy, she wanted it. She had been aching for him all week. In a way she hadn’t before. And she may not have had sex, but she knew how to help herself out thank you very much – and she had.
The long and short of it all was, she was ready. She wanted it to be this way. It may not have matched the picture in her head, but it felt better. And that, more than anything, steeled her resolve that this was what she wanted.
She turned away from the mirror, and faced him.
“So,” she said.
“So,” he repeated.
He moved toward her, and placed his hands on her bare shoulders, gently rubbing his palm back and forward over the exposed skin.
She leaned up to catch his lips once more, this time a little more passionately than the last.
Klaus responded instantly, sliding his hands from her shoulders to begin exploring the curves of her waist, and butt.
Caroline began walking them backward, until they hit the bed, and she pulled him on top of her. Being horizontal with him, on her bed, amped up the ever rising excitement in her, and she couldn’t help the pushing herself up to alleviate some of the pressure.
“That felt nice,” she murmured to him, between kisses.
They remained in that position for a while, Caroline not particularly sure how to progress things along, but also not wanting to admit this to her lover.
Though, before too long, the increasingly impatient Klaus, sat up to rid himself of his button down shirt, before settling himself on propped elbows above her.
Caroline was in total awe of his body. In high school, Klaus had never had a dad-bod or anything, but has also never been particularly jacked. But the man above her now was toned and defined in an incredibly alluring way.
Before she could stop herself, Caroline was running her hands softly over his skin, trying to commit to memory every dip and crevice in his body.
“Sorry,” she said shyly, when she shook herself out of the stupor.
“I am yours tonight, Caroline,” he replied, his eyes hungry for her. “Explore all you want.”
Caroline smiled appreciatively at him, and briefly wondered if he knew what he was doing. But she brushed that off almost immediately. That was for future Caroline to fret about.
After a little longer exploring his body, Klaus began slowly running his hands down from her shoulders again, though this time, he caught her dress on the way down. It pulled down easily, and soon revealed Caroline’s perfect body to his eyes.
“You are a picture, Caroline,” he said, with a strangled note to his voice, as he took in the matching red lace strapless bra and panties.
Caroline smiled, a little abashed by the look in his eyes. Though buoyed by it also, Caroline reached for the zip of his pants, and undid it. Rather than awkwardly wriggle under him to make her attempt with her hands, Caroline laid back down and brought her flexible legs upward, locking her dainty toes into the waistband of the pants. She deftly manoeuvred the pants down his legs enough that he could simply shake them off himself.
She internally congratulated herself on that move. She’d seen it once in an adult movie she watched, and she was stoked that she managed to do it without it being completely awkward.
Now both almost completely naked, they resumed their kissing, though this time everything became a little more frenzied. Both of them were losing the little self-control they had, their skin rubbing together intoxicatingly. They only paused when Caroline rid herself of her bra, leaving her breasts to bounce freely.
Klaus immediately cupped with mounds with his coarse hands, further tightening the spring in Caroline’s abdomen. He honestly didn’t think he’d ever touched such perfect breasts before, and it was driving him wild.
Klaus changed positions and suddenly he was kissing himself down her body, before he went to place an open mouthed kiss on the apex of her thighs through her underwear.
“What are you doing?” she asked, a little alarmed by this turn of events.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Klaus replied, instantly looking guilty. All the girls he’d tried this on with had been like putty in his hands. “I thought you might like…”
“Umm, I guess,” she said, self-consciously, turning bright red. “No one has ever…”
She left the sentence hanging, and looked just about anywhere than at his face between her legs.
“I don’t have to, Caroline,” he said, trying to calm her unease. “But if you want me to, I’m more than happy to oblige.”
“Do I have… to um… I guess…” she said, stumbling for the way she could say what she wanted. “Will you want the same?”
“I don’t know who you’ve been sleeping with, Caroline,” Klaus chuckled, completely missing the guilty look Caroline’s face. “But I will not make you do anything you don’t want to do. And I won’t even hold your own pleasure to ransom for it. There’s no fun in that for me.”
“Oh, okay, I guess I…” she started, still not quite sure what she wanted. “Can you… umm… do your thing… for a bit, then we see?”
Klaus nodded. Though, before he went back to his task, he crawled back up her body, and kissed her lightly on the mouth, looking deeply into her eyes.
“You’re beautiful, Caroline,” he whispered. “Just relax, and make sure you tell me what you want. I’m not some high school jock solely interested in my own pleasure.”
He winked, and kissed her again, before adding in the most diabolical voice Caroline ever heard, “I’m very interested in your pleasure too.”
That was enough to halt her embarrassment, and have her spring coiling again. There was something particularly sexy about someone wanting her pleasure, as well as their own.
She caught herself briefly pondering whether Klaus would spoil her for boys her own age, but before she could explore that thought any more, the thought was whipped from her mind, as Klaus hooked his fingers into her strappy panties, left her bare in front of him, and placed his mouth on the heat between her legs.
It felt quite unlike anything she had experienced before
He kissed at her a few times, before he started flicking his tongue back and forward over her clitoris. It was fire. He slowly added one of his fingers into her, then two, pulling them in and out at an increasing pace. She couldn’t help the small whimper that escaped her mouth.
“Klaus,” Caroline asked, after a few minutes, her voice a lot more strangled with want than last she spoke. “I want you now, I think.”
Klaus had never heard anything sexier in his life, and he was all too willing to abide. He gave only a few more thrusts of his fingers, before he pulled them out, and finally pulled his own underwear off.
With both bodies now completely nude, the tension in the room buzzed up a notch.
Klaus settled himself back over her, and kissed her, hard.
Caroline could now reach his cock. And reach it she did. She took it into her hand and began to stroke up and down, imagining with each stroke that he was pumping into her.
“Condom?” Klaus asked, trying his absolute utmost to be responsible, when all he wanted to do was thrust into her, consequences be damned.
She scrambled from the bed, and went into her en suite, to pull out a couple of the little foil packets.
As she crossed back to him, he grabbed at her waist to pull her down onto him as quickly as possible, and he began attacking her lips again. They lost themselves in that for a moment before Caroline pressed the condom into Klaus’ hand.
He moved off her and onto his back, to tear the packet open, and remove the item. He reached down to roll the latex over himself, then rolled back so he was bearing over her once more.
Caroline’s breathing hitched with every breath, anticipation sizzling every part of her body. Klaus reached between them to grab his cock, and guided it toward her opening. He teased her a little with it, running the tip of his penis along her folds, until she mewled for more.
Delicately, Klaus began to push into her. He pushed slowly, centimetre by centimetre, until she fully gloved him.
“You feel…” she said, barely able to get the words out. “Amazing.”
“God, Caroline,” he said, nearly embarrassed at how desperate he was to move in her. “This is incredible.”
“Move, Klaus, please.”
Only too happy to obliged, Klaus pulled himself from her and slid back in, with more speed that the last time. Then he went again, quicker still.
Soon, Klaus was set in a steady rhythm, and Caroline couldn’t believe what she was feeling. She clung to him, and was astounded to feel herself wanting more and more. Her hands made their way to his muscular ass and gripped it. She found if she used her grip on his butt to push him further into her, they both let out moans of pleasure
She found her breathing grow a bit ragged, as she studied Klaus face, his brow furrowed, his mouth slightly open from the pleasure.
“Caroline,” Klaus said, his voice strained. “I’m going to come.”
She couldn’t help but gasp at the pure need in his voice, then again when she felt the twitch from his cock as he came into her.
They both lay there panting for a few moments, and Caroline couldn’t believe what had just happened.
He kissed her tenderly, before easing himself out of her. He got up and padded into her bathroom, to dispose of the condom, but was back as soon as he could. He felt the loss of her body instantly.
Caroline smiled shyly at him again, like she had earlier in the night.
“Sorry I didn’t…,” she said, once again not finding the right words. “You know… come for you.”
Klaus’ face twisted, a little bit in embarrassment, little bit in sympathy, but mostly in amusement for her innocent remark.
“Caroline, I would have been more offended if you had faked it,” he said, kissing her on the forehead. “I should be apologising for not helping you get there.”
“I don’t really know how to get there,” she admitted in a whisper. She never admitted it out loud before, and she was mortified with herself that she had then.
But Klaus smiled understandingly at her.
“I don’t think that’s uncommon,” he said. “And practice makes perfect, right?”
She laughed, and swatted at him. She was also a little bit in awe that he had made her feel comfortable about something that had brought her such anxiety.
“Also, again, you’re sleeping with the wrong people if they don’t help you practice.”
Caroline blushed, and covered it by kissing him. She didn’t know why she was too embarrassed to tell Klaus this was her first time, when she so obviously gave him pleasure. But she just decided it was too much to share, she didn’t know if she would be able to if she tried.
“How about I get us a snack, and then we kiss some more?” he said, playfully, as he sprung out of bed to find something to cover himself.
When he left the room a minute later in nothing but a towel, Caroline relaxed back to stare at the ceiling.
Unsure of how to feel.
Her body was still buzzing in the after glow, and she thought, even though she hadn’t had one of those really loud, body shaking orgasms she had seen the few times she watched porn, she’d also read enough articles about first times to know that this one had been a pretty special one.
By the time Klaus was back, chocolate bars and cups of tea in hand, Caroline had regained her most of her faculties, and she grinned at him.
“Well that was fun,” she said, as he handed her one of the mugs.
“That it was,” Klaus replied, chinking his mugs to hers. “Repeat?”
“When?” Caroline laughed.
The mood shifted slightly, both of them immediately a little uncomfortable with the question that had been chasing them all week.
What happens next?
“I’m not sure,” Klaus said, looking down at the drink in his hand.
“Me neither,” Caroline replied.
They were an absurd picture, Caroline was sure; a young couple, sitting completely naked, in silent awkwardness, drinking tea from dainty china cups.
“I don’t want to pretend this never happened,” Caroline confessed. How could she pretend? “But I understand if you do. Because of… you know… Stefan, and I’m in high school, or whatever.”
Caroline lips were tight, and her jaw was set, Klaus knew it was hard for her to say, and he appreciated it. But honestly, he didn’t know what he wanted to do.
“We did complicate things a little, didn’t we?”
“Yep,” she replied, popping the p audibly.
“It doesn’t have to be complicated,” Klaus posited, an underlying question in his voice.
“It doesn’t?” Caroline asked, raising her eyebrow.
“The age thing isn’t weird, especially since your brother dated your best friend and you had to be okay with it?” Klaus said, remembering the awful time throughout their final year of high school and first year of college when Stefan and Elena dated.
“Oh yeah, because I could ever have made Elena realise it was totally weird for me,” Caroline scoffed. “I love her, but she has got no self-awareness, and frankly no concept of a world not revolving around her.”
“Yes, I can imagine if you told her about this… about us, she would go all hysterical at you, all distraught about how I’m the reason she and Stefan broke up,” Klaus laughed.
“You’re so right, she hates you, I forgot!”
“Yes, and Bonnie doesn’t like me much either,” Klaus noted.
“Oh my god, I wish she would get over that! You and Stefan played one prank on her, and she will never let it me, or anyone else, forget it!”
“I’m still not sure how Stefan has been cleared of all charges, and yet I am still in the dog house after three years!” Klaus exclaimed. “Speaking of Stefan…”
“Honestly, he’s a wild card,” Caroline said. “He’s usually pretty understanding, but sometimes is a totally over protective ass, you know.”
“I can imagine he would avenge your innocence in subtle ways,” Klaus said. “Like would drop into random conversations with ethical questions about dating their friend’s siblings.”
“Yeah, probably,” Caroline giggled. “Imagine Elijah! ‘Niklaus! I used to babysit that girl!’”
“Yes! And ‘you are far too brutish for a sweet girl like, Caroline,’!” Klaus added. “Oh and think of Rebekah.”
“How could you sleep with my brother!” Caroline cried, in a high pitched, mock-English accent, imitating Rebekah. “How could you sleep with my ex, Bekah, if we want to get into the weeds on the girl code.”
“Bekah and Matt have slept together?” Klaus asked, sharply.
“Oh come on Klaus,” Caroline chided. “Given the conversation we’re having, maybe we not judge your sister for anything she wants.”
“There’s the rub though, sweetheart,” Klaus said, sadly. “That’s how the judgement will happen.”
“Does it matter?” Caroline asked, trying not to sound hurt.
“I don’t know,” Klaus said, honestly. “But rest assured you won’t be my dirty little secret. I refuse to let something I enjoyed so much be something I feel guilty about.”
There was such conviction in his voice that Caroline could have cried. And she did have to take a few deep breaths to stop the tears from visibly springing to her eyes.
“Okay,” she said, decisively. “We won’t tell people, but we won’t lie if asked. That seems okay right?”
“Seems fair,” he replied, as he put his arm around her shoulders and drew her closer to her, and placed a gentle kiss to her mouth.
“And leaves it open for something else in the future,” she winked.
“Now that,” Klaus said, genuinely smiling. “Would be my pleasure.”
Caroline smiled back at him, and kissed him again, feeling content with their conversation.
It wasn’t until the next afternoon, when Liz and Giuseppe returned home, and thanked Klaus for being company for Caroline while they were away, did Caroline fully comprehend the feeling of sadness that was mixed in with the contentment.
“I’ll see you out,” Caroline said to Klaus, as he grabbed his bag and headed for the door.
“Chin up, my love,” Klaus said, nudging her with his elbow. “We don’t need your parents thinking I’m a bad babysitter. They’ll never ask me here again.”
“I had a really great time this week,” Caroline said, earnestly, as he packed his bag into the boot of his car.
“As did I, Caroline,” he replied. “I am looking forward to when you’re in college, maybe you’ll join me and Stefan. It would be nice to have you around.”
Caroline glowed a little from the compliment.
“And in any case, perhaps, when you’re done with senior year, and that party animal you promised me comes out to play,” Klaus said, cheekily. “Maybe you will invite me for one of your events.”
Caroline grinned at him, before wrapping her arms around him for a hug.
“I’ll see you,” she murmured.
“Thank you, Caroline.”
And with that, he was slipping into the front of his car and was driving off, leaving Caroline to just wave at his tail lights as he went.

Hello and thank you for the ask, obvi I have my own curiosities abt Kat's future life... 😏 If you don't mind, questions 3, 8, 6 and 12 are what came to mind first, though I'm also curious abt 15! I don't want to touch anything that may result in your series spoilers bc it's soo good - but her broader family life after all this I'm very curious about :D
Hi! This took soo long I'm so sorry lmao- Long post ahead From this ask
3. What is MC’s family like now?
I’m leaving here Kate’s direct family. I didn’t include Kate and Charlie’s daughter because I don’t have a name or a back story for her.
Here we have the Williams part of the family Nicholas (Obliviator) and Aurora (arithmancer and the actual brain behind the family's finances), Kate's grandparents, had 3 children: Evira (professor), Erick (auror), Joseph (dtp of International Magical cooperation). Joseph is Kate's dad.
The Walsh side of the family starts with Bernard (potioneer) and Julie (muggle nurse), Kate's grandparents, who had 2 children: Natalia (journalist) and Cornelia (apparition examiner). Natalia is Kate's mom.
This is the Walsh side of the family. Bernard's parents were Taidgh (broom maker) and Fiona (owl trainer). They had 10 children (see below).
Julie was the only child of muggles Ronan (fisherman) and Ciara Flannigan (fish seller)
The 10 Walsh siblings in order are: Imogen(farmer), Muireann (tutor), Paddy(broom maker), Adeline (aurologist), Collin (saleswizard in quidditch games), Cornelia (alchemist, Bernard's daughter was named after her), Brian (magizoologist), Jane (muggle relations), Bernard (potioneer), Seán (squib)
Details of these characters will be on another post about the Ireland fic character list that Im working on. (I might change a few names)
6. How has MC’s style changed?
The first year at Hogwarts was very child-like. She was still that little girl that came from a wealthy and sinister family, always in the shadows and behind doors because she wasn’t allowed to enter most of the rooms. She carried a small charm that Jacob gave her and it was the year she adopted Grimoire in Diagon Alley, first rebellious act since the Williams manor only allowed owls and Aurora Williams’ spider. In her defense, she went to Diagon Alley all alone. Her style reflected innocence.
There was a huge leap between 1st and 2nd-3rd year. Mom went to Beirut, dad was busy in the ministry, and her brother was still missing. She opted for the same 3 outfits all the time.
The next big change occurred in fourth year. She started hanging out with Tonks and she absorbed a little bit of her dark style. All-black outfits were daily and she started experimenting with skirts. That dark look in addition with her winning every single game of gobstones, being fearless in duel and her original bad reputation, reflected confidence. Also, mama gifts her a nice bag.
From 7th year and onwards she shifts to more ‘badass looks’. She still favours dark colours like blacks and browns, but her go-to outfits include leather jackets and boots. Before the war, she became an animagus, which is a black cat form. An important accessory is the dragon necklace that Charlie gives her before going to Romania, and she wears it until the war, where she loses it. Another detail that I’m not going to explain now (still figuring it out and I don’t want to give away too much about the next fic) is that she gets a matching tattoo with Charlie: a serch bythol (with some magic properties)
In her 30s and 40s she is a respectable mediwizard now and she starts dressing a little bit more classy. She is not giving up her leather jacket yet but more blouses and dress pants are added to her closet.
Kate went full witch mode when she passed her fifties. Loving the aesthetic of it all, she shamelessly wears her witch hats to every party, reunion or gathering. Long dresses with pockets are a favourite.
In reality, she is a softie, and you know that when talking to her. If you are lucky enough to be her apprentice you will find her elegant, intimidating and very very wise. After a while, you will discover that she has an enormous heart.
8. How is MC’s and Jacob’s relationship now? (If your Jacob is alive)
My Jacob is very much dead. I don’t plan on changing that. If he was alive (let’s imagine that au) I think their relationship will be problematic. He loved her little sister, but she was more of a burden than anything else. Growing up in the Williams manor was the first curse he encountered in his life: his grandfather pressured him to follow every Williams man’s steps and become a Ministry employee, dad did the same, mom was never home, and he had to take care of his little sister because leaving her alone in that house wasn't an option.
When they reunited, he would still see her as the toddler that sniffled every leaf and flower, that collected pretty rocks and buried her little fingers in the soil just to experiment, all while he tried to read his book under a tree.
There would be a slow and long process of getting to know each other again.
In fact, now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t think Kate would have moved in with Charlie so soon if Jacob was still alive. The two years that they were apart, maintaining a long-distance relationship, she was grieving and living alone in a flat in London that the Williams family provided. If Jacob had survived, they would have moved out of the manor together and it would have taken longer for Kate to go to Charlie.
12. What was MC’s reaction learning Bill and Charlie’s little sister went missing her First Year?
Well, she couldn't do much about it, it's not like she would go to Hogwarts and look for her herself. But she was worried. Some old fears came back, the similarities with her own experience with her brother made her uneasy, but after confirming it didn't have anything to do with the vaults she could think a little bit better. At that time she was a healer trainee at St Mungo’s and Charlie was already in Romania so there was a lot of letter-exchanging just with updates of the situation.
15. MC’s experience at Bill’s wedding? (Did they attend Bill’s wedding? What did they wear? Did they play a role in it? Were they the bride? =p)
Kate and Charlie attended Bill’s wedding but they weren't happy about it. They love Fleur, and Bill too but with everything that was happening then it didn't seem like a good idea. They were vigilant the whole evening, especially Kate.
Reuniting with Tonks and other Hogwarts friends made her relax a bit and actually enjoy herself. We'll leave the details for a fic I'll write someday.
I shamelessly say that they matched outfits. Kate wanted to wear a pointy hat that Charlie gave her one Christmas with a dark blue dress that matched the inside of the hat.
She noticed the disappointment on his face when he saw it and later found out that he had chosen a shirt to go with the previous dress she had shown him. She changed outfits and with some gold accessories, they went to the Burrow thinking they were the best looking couple there.
I couldn't find a picture of what I had in mind for him because I took the idea from this fanart from cursebreakerglenetive .
That’s the exact outfit. I fell in love when I saw the concept. No tie, of course, the burgundy undershirt and inside of the jacket, the belt with golden dragon details is everything.
For her, a simple but elegant dress, with her golden dragon necklace and long earrings.
Nice experience overall until everything went to hell, we all know that part.
Thanks for the ask! This was fun to make 🖤

So, if you look at my followers I actually have 1,183, but that’s because this hasn’t always been Poe. I started this blog way back on Nov. 8, 2014 as Dean Winchester. It has gone through AT LEAST ten characters since then. So, a lot of these followers are dead accounts or abandoned accounts. However, when I started up Poe on here I made note that I had 1,083 followers. So, this is for the 100 of you that came here for my baby.
So, let’s get the follow forever out of the way. Let me start off by saying I’m going to forget people, I’m human. Also, I don't do very big follow forevers whenever I do them because I firmly believe in only having people who have had a very strong impact on me or Poe should be present on the list. That said, if you’re not on this list you are still very loved.
special mention of @bondforce for making this happen, thanks for being my 100th follower, lol.
REYS:
@dawnsabered : so, despite us not having any threads you’re first on this list because you re-sparked my love of the sequels and made me want to hop into this fandom again. Rping with you on Steve made me just adore the fandom more and more and made me want to bring back Poe. I’m eternally grateful to you for that. I have found such an amazing and welcoming home in this community and I wouldn’t have it without you, I love you loads, thanks a bunch.
@jedirisen : okay, so we met pretty early in and thank god we did. i adore your Rey, but more than anything you’ve been such an incredible friend. You’re always down to plot and create and just talk. You put up with my constant recommendations and are just one of the sweetest humans I’ve ever met. I’m super pumped that we found each other and I hope we have many great years of friendship ahead of us.
@fxrcefound : you’re a babe, you know that? Like, just such a good bean! Thank you for putting up with all my bullshit and being so fucking welcoming. I showed up in the fandom and within the first week we had multiple threads. I adore you, as does my Ben. Love’s his princess wife so much, tbh. But, no honestly I’m so glad I’ve found a friend in you. A gem, truly.
@scavenger-warrior : Ahhhh! Hi, I love you. So, first of all let me just say that our beautiful time leap verse (that all of our followers are currently being deprived of bc discord is so much better lol) is one of my all time favourite verses I’ve EVER done. It makes me so immensely happy and Ben is just in love.
@choosenskywalker : I’m TRASH! I’m so excited for the verses we have started, I’m just awful at replying. But, I really am so excited and I adore your writing, you’re very talented. You’re also super sweet and have the patience of a god. Thank you for being lovely, and I swear I’ll get better because I’m so excited to see where these things go.
@aequusjedi & @killingpast : you guys get a joint one because i love our poly babies despite me being a lazy bitch and not writing much with them yet. Nah, can I just say how excited I was when you joined our group Cas. I’m so excited to see how this develops and watch our babies fall in love. Aside from that though, both of you have been just lovely people OOC. I’m so lucky to have such wonderful partners like yourselves.
BENS:
@sithroyal : hey there! We also met in my early days here, and you’ve been such a joy to write with, no matter what character it’s on. You’re portrayal is one of pure perfection. I love writing with you and any reply always makes me so excited. On top of that you’ve been so kind and inviting and it really meant a lot since I was HELLA INTIMIDATED by you when I first got here.
@endheir : LOOK EVERYONE, IT’S J.J. ABRAMS EVIL TWIN, come to fix all the shit J.J. broke. No, seriously I am so impressed and will never not be intimidated by how amazing you and your writing is! THIS IS THE BEN SOLO WE DESERVED! But, you’re such a peach and so nice and I adore plotting with you. Thanks for being the bomb dot com.
@dyadalone : WE ARE CRACK ROYALTY, thank you very much. No, really though I love when we (and our friends) get up to our shenanigans. But, aside from that Poe is also just IN LOVE! And, I adore you OOC. Such a kind and loving person, you da best! I am so happy we found each other through this hellsite and can’t wait to see what nonsense our future brings.
@brokendyad : HELLO I LOVE YOU! You’re such a solid friend and such a talented writer. I’m so happy we get to have so much fun writing and plotting. You’re an absolute dear and I’ll never get over how lucky I am to have such amazing friends. Thanks for being great and I hope we stay close forever.
@lghtpulled : okay, so i can’t explain my infinite love for you. I can’t. All my characters over here being obsessed over your Ben. I’ve told you how much I adore your Ben, but I can’t say it enough. Also, our high school verse GIVES ME LIFE! But, nah you’re just so talented and SO KIND! I’m so glad that despite being SO FUCKING INTIMIDATED by you we managed to form this amazing friendship. I’m keeping you.
THE FAM:
@kesdameronn : SCARF DAD! No, lol I love that Poe’s dad is around. We haven’t done much yet but we have all the time in the world for the Dameron bros to get up to shit together. Also, Zep you are such a kind and cute soul and I just love ya!
@lieutenantxbey : Mama Dameron, how could we not love? Poe loves his mama so much and lowkey wants to be just like her. I love seeing Shara on the dash. And the few times we’ve spoken you’ve been just a ray of light, so keep being awesome.
@legacybeyne : this little shit! No, I’m kidding, Poe loves his cousin. Like wants to throw him out an airlock sometimes, but loves him. I adore this character so much and I’m so happy Poe has more family around. Also, OOC you seem like a super cool person, so definitely don’t stop that.
LUKE:
@jedishope : SHANE! I don’t know if I could tell you how much I actually adore you? Like, I don’t think I could. And, I low-key don’t want to because it would deffo scare you off, lol. But, no you’re just an absolute ray of sunshine and such a beautiful person. A person only has to talk to you for a second to see how just full or love and kindness you are. You bring so much joy to my dash and I’m forever thankful for it! Not to mention your Luke is hands down the best Luke I’ve ever seen. Absolutely perfect! I was so scared to approach you at first because you were just so fucking talented and obviously still are! I love your Luke with my whole heart and so does Poe.
HUX:
@muddledbloodlines : I am so excited for the verse we’ve created for our lonely babies and can’t wait to see where it goes. You have such an interesting take on this character and I love it! I’m so excited to get to know you better and really explore this. I’m honestly just in love with your writing and imagination.
OCS:
@congeriemgriseo : so it won’t tag you, which is RUDE! But, anyway: I adore Any. Such an incredibly well thought out and beautiful OC. I’m quite picky when it comes to OCs, despite having one of my own. But, I was enraptured from the moment I read her bio, and you have not disappointed! She’s such a beautiful little chaos machine and I love her.
@orderengineer : okay, so I actually usually despise OCs that are really kind. Because as much as Mary Sue characters are fine to write, I personally can’t write opposite them. However, that’s not what Syla is! She’s so much more complex than that and I adore her. Both Ben and Orion find her insanely interesting and think she’s super fucking talented. I love this character you've created. It’s also just insane to see my characters name on the dash lol. You’re also such a sweetheart OOC and it always makes my day.
@petitehux : so for anyone who doesn’t know? I LOVE Kat. Like, I am obsessed, I have 100s of photos of her saved on my phone. I am just in love. Her and Dove Cameron are my two ultimate celebrity crushes. Which was the original reason I decided to check out your blog, and I’m so fucking happy I did. Ryann is so fucking cool and I think she brings such an interesting dynamic to the whole trilogy story. I can’t wait for myself to stop being lazy and get some bomb shit going with this incredible OC.
I’M A STALKER (also we need to rp!):

@tornbetweenthestorm : So, I LOVE FN! It’s so great to see such an interesting OC. I adore the work and thought you’ve put into this character and his struggles. Anytime I stop to read one of your replies to a partner I’m just overcome by your brilliance. I’m so happy I stumbled across your blog (thank you tumblr recs) and have been lucky enough to be mutuals with you.
@iamthecrder : well hello there. So, yeah I think your Hux is super cool and right on the money. It’s so interesting to see a different version of him and I honestly think you’re so incredibly talented! Keep being awesome, my good dude.

I will always love you. I will also never stop being astounded by your talent and world building capabilities. In case there was any confusion, YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE PERSON ON TUMBLR. Also, you are the most talented person I’ve ever followed. I will never stop being so happy to see you, no matter the blog, on my dash. On top of being the most talented writer I know, you also happen to be the sweetest human on the planet. You have so much love in your heart and you pour into your friends like it’s going out of style. I’m so so lucky to have you and I love you, okay?
Obviously I don't talk to you lads enough, but a special shoutout to @poewingsdameron, @lightskipped, , @flyjacket, @sprklit & @vuuelo for playing this amazing bean alongside me.
Okay, now onto the giveaway. So, friendly reminder that I make all my own stuff, so if you want examples of my work just check out across my blogs. That being said, when it comes to graphics, icons, etc I’m not very talented with creating stuff myself, so I use other peoples free templates, borders, psds and so on. I think I’m decently talented at putting them together, though. Also, having me do it just saves you a stupid amount of time lol.

Blake, sighing: Look Yang, are you going to help me or not? Cause I could really use some help.
Yang, smiling: Well of course I’ll help you in your love life, Blakey. What are friends for?
Blake: With no teasing?
Yang, scoffing: So I’m not allowed to have fun?
Blake, groaning: Yang!
Yang, whining: Oh come on, Blake. Don’t take this away from me. You know I love teasing you! It’s like, my 3rd favorite hobby!
Blake, sighing: Yang, please....
Yang, sighing: Okay Fine. I will refrain myself from teasing you during this.
Blake: Thanks.
Yang: But no promises, kit kat. Teasing is autopilot to me. I just naturally do it. I’m literally fighting my instincts for you.
Blake, rolling: Wow, Thanks. Didn’t know this would be so hard for you.
Yang, smiling: Youre welcome, Blakey.
Blake, awkwardly: So Uh....h-how exactly should I go at this? I mean, how do I.....
Yang: Ask Pyrrha to top you?
Blake, blushing: Y-yang!
Yang, chuckling: Okay, fine. How should you ask Pyrrha out?
Blake: Yeah.
Yang, scratching the back of her head: Honestly Blake, I’m surprise you actually need help with this in the first place. I thought you probably would never need help.
Blake, blushing: What makes you say that?
Yang: Because you got the ultimate weapon to make people want to chase after you.
Blake, confused:.......I do?
Yang: Do I really need to spell it out for you? The thing you got from your mama.
Blake, raising an eyebrow: ????????
Yang: Your bellabooty, Blake!
Blake, choking: My What?!
Yang: Your bellabooty! You know, that beautiful rear you got. The butt that makes every single student at this school go wild?
Blake, face on fire: W-w-what!?
Yang: Wait, do you really not know about this?
Blake: No! No I don’t!
Yang: Oh....well this is a comical way for you to find out.
Blake, face unbelievably red: It has a nickname?!
Yang, laughing: A name? It practically has a religion, Blakey.
Blake: Oh my god.
Yang: Praise be!
Blake: Okay just— STOP talking about this.
Yang: What? But we need to talk about it. How else am I going to teach you how to use your bellabooty to ge—
Blake, voice cracking: S-STOP CALLING IT THAT!
Yang: It’s what it is called though! Look, Blakey, you should be able to make Pyrrha putty in your hands, and all you gotta do is show her your ass.
Blake: You can’t be serious.
Yang: I am. Like, it’s pretty simple. Maybe you find a penny on the floor and decide to pick it up when Pyrrha is very close to you.
Blake, covering her face: Oh god.
Yang: It’ll be even better if she’s sitting down, so your butt can be right in here face.
Blake: S-SHUT UP! I’m not going to do that!
Yang: Why not!?
Blake: BECAUSE ITS EMBARRASSING!
Yang: Yeah, but also empowering.
Blake: HOW IS IT— *shakes head* Coming here was a mistake. I’m leaving. I’m going to figure out another way to get Pyrrha. *storms away*
Yang: JUST USE THE BELLABOOTY, BLAKE! TRUST ME, IT’LL WORK!
Blake, walking out: STOP CALLING IT THAT!
*a few days of failed flirting later, at the workout room*
Pyrrha: *Sweating while doing one arm push ups*
Blake, staring at her:.......m-my god. That’s so hot.
Pyrrha: *Stands up and drinks some water*
Blake, reluctantly:......okay, here I go.....h-hey, Pyrrha?
Pyrrha, turning: Hmm? Oh, hello Blake. Can I help you?
Blake, awkwardly: Can you help me with uhm.....with uh.....*closes eyes in shame* Can you help me with my posture for dead lifting? You see, I would like some tips since I see you frequently doing them. Is that alright?
Pyrrha, smiling: Oh sure. I don’t mind. I just finished for the day anyway. I will gladly help.
Blake: Great. *walks over to a weighted bar* Alright. So I want you to just tell me what I’m doing wrong.
Pyrrha, right behind Blake: Right. Just remember to lift with your legs—
*Very abrubtly Blake bends over, pointing her butt right at Pyrrha as she grabs the bar*
Pyrrha, blushing madly:...........
Blake, bent over: So...is this good?
Pyrrha, staring at Blake’s butt:.........
Blake: Pyrrha, are you listening to me?
Pyrrha, snapping out of it: H-huh?
Blake: Are you listening?
Pyrrha, voice cracking: O-oh, y-yeah. I’m s-sorry! I was just uhm....sorry. Okay uhm.....your form isn’t really good. T-that’s n-not how you do it.
Blake: Really? Okay, how about this then?
*Blake scoots her butt higher, and make it actually touching Pyrrha now*
Pyrrha: *squeaks loudly*
Blake: Is this good then?
Pyrrha, face matching her hair: No! I-it’s still not! You’re doing this c-completely w-wrong!
Blake: I am?
Pyrrha: Y-yeah! I-I don’t mean to be r-rude, but this is o-one of the worst forms you can have for this. If you try to dead lift with this form then you will really h-hurt your back.
Blake: Really? Okay then.......h-how about you.....*closes eyes shamefully*
Pyrrha: H-how about I what?
Blake, reluctantly:......how about you guide my body to where it should be then.
Pyrrha: P-p-p-pardon?
Blake: Guide my body. Just move it to the right form.
Pyrrha: I-it’s kinda l-like a squat. J-just squat down and grab the bar. That’s it.
Blake: My squat form is terrible. It will be easier if you guide my body.
Pyrrha: R-really? Do you really n-need help with squatting?! I-I mean, I-it’s not complicated. I-I’m sure you can d—
Blake: No! I need help, Pyrrha. Im really bad at them. Trust me. Please, Pyrrha, can you help me?
Pyrrha: C-can’t I just s-show you h-how by doing the stance m-myself? I-it’s really not that complicated, Blake.
Blake:.........
Blake, internally: Crap! That’s a much better solution! Crap, think of something
Pyrrha: Blake?
Blake: N-no! That won’t do! I—......I-it will be easier for me to remember if you just guide my body, Pyrrha. Trust me. I’m not a visual learner! I’m a hands on learner.
Pyrrha: Really?
Blake: Yeah, Really. I-I mean, you don’t h-have t—
Pyrrha, who is too sweet for her own good: N-no, I c-can do it! It’s just Uh......h-hold on. Just....give me a minute.
Blake: Okay, just take you time.
Pyrrha: O-Okay......w-well you would want to squat d-down as I said s-so uhm.....your uhm....your....*ahem* your rear is too high up right now.
Blake: It is?
Pyrrha, timidly nodding: Hmm Hmm.
Blake: Okay then. Can you help me fix it then. How low should it be then. Just guide my hips with your hands.
Pyrrha: P-p-put my h-hands only-your h-hips?!
Blake, wriggling her hips: Yeah. I don’t know how low my rear should be. So can you help me?
Pyrrha, brain malfunctioning:..........o-okay. I-I can d-do that. I-I can do this. *under her breath* You can do this, Pyr. Just calm down. J-just calm down and d-don’t s-stare. Blake’s your friend, who happens to have a really, really....really nice b-butt— N-no No no! G-go away lewd thought! Go away!
Blake, wriggling her hips: Pyrrha? Are you going to help me or not?
Pyrrha: *whimpering* Y-Yeah. Just....*timidly puts shaky hands on her hips* L-lets just bring you into a squat position now. I-oh dear lord, s-so soft.
Blake: Are you Okay, Pyrrha?
Pyrrha, high pitched: Hmm Hmm. You’re fin— I’M FINE, I MEANT! I ALL FINE!
Blake, internally: Wow.....Yang was right. This is oddly empowering.
Weiss, across the room: Honestly, Pyrrha is way too nice and helpful for her own good. Its actually unbelievable.
Ruby: Wait, I’m confused. Why is Blake acting like a deadlift is the most complicated and foreign thing ever? What is she doing?
Yang, wiping a tear from her eye: Making me damn proud is what she doing.
Pyrrha’s distant voice: *flustered* B-Blake your pressing your r-rear against me again!
Blake’s distant voice: Oops, am I? Sorry.
Yang, clapping: Damn proud I say!

Too Familiar (Epilogue)
After almost five years, Too Familiar (AO3) is complete. I started this back in 2015 for @promptsinpanem‘s The Farewell Tour and only intended it to be a one-shot, but a number of people asked for a HEA. I knew then (and still firmly believe) that there is no traditional “happy ending” for this story, and I wrote the rest with that in mind. In 2017, I expanded the story for @loveinpanem-blog‘s A Candle For the Caribbean. Once that was submitted, I still didn’t feel like the characters were done with me, so I decided to expand it to what it is today. This epilogue has been written for three years and is posted with only minor revisions. I know not everyone has enjoyed reading these characters, and I know others have found this story very meaningful. I can understand both experiences, but I’ve been faithful to the vision I had from the beginning. That was most important to me. It’s been therapeutic for me to heal my own wounds resulting from my parents’ divorce and dad’s affair and my friendship with the man on whom this Peeta is based (He’s actually read this story. I hope it’s helped him, too.). It is a painful thing for your soulmate to be married to someone else. For all of you who have read, commented, reblogged, edited, brainstormed, and so on, thank you. It’s time to put this world to bed and let these characters have their peace.
___________________
Dear Elam,
Happy 40th birthday, darling! I have loved you for so long, and I’m so proud of the man you’ve become. I know it hasn’t always been easy. You’ve had more than your share of hardship, but you’ve triumphed over all of it. You’re a wonderful man, a great dad, and fantastic son.
This probably isn’t what you wanted for a present, but I didn’t think I could wait any longer. Your father misses you more than you can imagine, and if anything I say can bring two of the Mellark men back together, then I have to try. Forgive an old woman her idiosyncrasies. I’ve never been very good at games.
As you know, your father and I met at work. We were both young, idealistic, and starry-eyed. Both convinced we could fix the world though social work, we did our best to plug gaping holes in society—helping families find relief, placing children in quality foster care, guiding parolees along the overly tough road to reintegrating into society. Peeta and I both wanted to right wrongs and ease pain, but our personal lives did nothing but the opposite.
We were friends first. I was enamored by his goodness, integrity, and sense of humor. He’s always been a gentle soul. When he was younger, he radiated peace to everyone around him. I needed that desperately. I lost my dad when I was young, and my mom turned to drugs to cope. I raised my little sister, your Aunt Prim, from the time I was eleven until she left for college. What your father gave me was exactly what I needed when he became my best friend.
I didn’t know he was married at first. I found out fairly quickly, and I put that in a box to pull out when I needed reminding that we were just friends. I didn’t know how he felt about me for a long time. I didn’t think about him that way. He was married to your mother, and we were co-workers who shared a special bond. To be honest, I’m not sure he knew either. He was devoted to his marriage, loyal to a fault, and that’s probably why neither of us realized what was happening between us until it was too late.
He fell in love with me, and I fell in love with him. Madge was already pregnant with you when I realized how I felt. Still, he remained faithful until he mentioned my name and your mother became suspicious. We tried pulling away, but we were thrown together by work and mutual attraction. When we finally gave in, you were only a few weeks from being born.
And then you came. I’ve never seen someone so in love with his child. You were his whole heart, and he ended things with me to provide a good home and life for you and your mother. And that worked for a while. I know it tore him up to seek me out with you at home, but sometimes things don’t make sense. What we have together doesn’t, and I don’t expect anyone to understand—even you, his firstborn.
We tried to stop. He tried to make it work for you and your mom, but eventually, he knew he had to leave, to be honest with himself and with her, and to provide you with an example of a happy marriage. He didn’t want you to grow up seeing a man trapped by responsibility rather than choosing to stay because of love. He wanted better for you.
Divorce is always painful, I know. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, a child always wants his parents together, and I’m sorry that didn’t happen in your life.
You may think everything was perfect between us. It wasn’t. I love your father more than anything other than you and your brother and sister, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t carry a huge burden of guilt. I lost count of the number of times he cried because he knew he’d hurt you, and I picked fights with him constantly because I was ashamed of helping break up his marriage.
If I’d only been stronger, I told myself a million times, but I wasn’t. And neither was he. In the end, we needed each other in a way I can’t explain. Fighting it didn’t work.
I don’t want you to think we weren’t happy at all. We were. Still are, in fact, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have regrets. If we had to do it all over again, I think your father would have found another job and stayed away from me.
But then we wouldn’t have Hunter and Tiny (She still goes by that, you know.), and I know how happy they make him, too.
I’m rambling. My apologies, but I am old and this may be my only chance to convince you to reconcile with your father before it’s too late. Old men take things harder than young ones, and he misses you very much. The gap between you has widened to a bottomless chasm over the years, and he doesn’t have any ideas about how to bridge it.
Your father’s a good man, Elam. He’s loved me more than I ever thought I deserved, and he helped me see my self-worth in countless ways I couldn’t. He’s loved our children as much as he loves you. He even managed to patch things up with your mother before she passed. More impressively, he mended his relationship with your grandmother and uncles over the years, despite how much they hated me and blamed me for his divorce.
He’s a hard worker. He’ll put in the time and effort to make things right with you if you’ll let him. I know you miss him. I miss you, too, and we’d love to see you on Christmas this year when your sister and brother come to visit. Nothing’s complete without you there. It would be nice to have another holiday with all of us together. Your babies might want to meet their grandparents too.
Please, Elam. Neither of us ever meant to hurt you. I know you well enough to know you’re a good man like your father, even if we’ve only been able to watch you from afar. Give him another chance.
We’re all familiar with mistakes. Some of us are too familiar. Please help us put them behind us. The burden has been very difficult to bear.
With love, Mama Kat

Well, Marina, I do have time and I wouldn’t leave you without a playlist while I’m still making them. This one is fresh from the oven. Thank you very much and I hope you enjoy it.
Mama's Song - Carrie Underwood All is Found - Evan Rachel Wood Recovery - Ruelle I Think I’m in Love - Kat Dahlia (A)Noite - Tiê Angels on the Moon - Thriving Ivory
Fun fact: I wrote and directed a short film based on “A Noite”, and it won’t even see the light of day again. But I might write something with the content and post here next year, because I still like the idea.
