The strategy of making people mad as a marketing strategy is such a good one. Not good in the sense that I condone it... but in the sense that it works.
Exhibit A of its effectiveness: I'm watching the Netflix MH370 documentary and I'm PISSED and I'm telling you guys and my friends about how pissed it's making me, effectively turning ME into the marketing tool💀
long story short, please. please. PLEASE. DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT GIVE INTO THE PEER PRESSURE. It's not worth it. It's never worth it. This docuseries is so shitty, and if you know the story well, you will HATE it.

Why is Netflix's MH370 documentary so haunting?
Netflix released MH370: The Plane That Disappeared on Wednesday, March 8. At first, I was indifferent about it. “Meh. Are they still talking about that plane? Haven’t they figured out what happened to it yet?” I wondered flippantly. And yet…I found myself drawn to the three-part docuseries. After watching the trailer, I added it to my list. Partly because I’m a sucker for documentaries. But maybe…

not exactly the same, but malaysia airlines did very much cover up their pilot most likely murdered everybody on mh370. like they knew he planned it, refused to release that information until it leaked, then just shrugged because a murder payout would cost more for their company + look worse than a disappearance and that was just accepted as normal and not absolutely fucking deranged
malaysia airlines was actually one of the incidents i was thinking about - locally, the malaysian govt tried its best to play down what happened, but internationally it was in the news for months, the incident was the subject of an international investigation, i believe even attracting the attention of the CIA.
of course, not the best parallel to make given how many more people died on flight 370, but with boeing's current safety and business practices, i feel like it's only a matter of time before we get an incident like that domestically

Flight MH370: Netflix doc reveals shocking theories about vanished Malaysian Airlines flight
In the early hours of March 8, 2014, pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah sent Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 into air just before 12:45 a.m. local time. Everything was routine onboard the Boeing 777 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, China, as the plane readied to leave Malaysian airspace and fly towards Vietnam across the South China Sea. “Good night, Malaysian 370,” Shah tells air traffic controllers as they…

The Disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370: A Modern Aviation Mystery
In the early hours of March 8, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370), a Boeing 777 carrying 239 passengers and crew, vanished from radar while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The aircraft’s disappearance triggered one of the most extensive and costly searches in aviation history, spanning vast stretches of the Indian Ocean. Despite years of investigation, the exact fate of MH370 remains one of the greatest mysteries in modern aviation.
The Flight and Initial Disappearance
MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12:41 a.m. local time. The aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude of 35,000 feet and communicated with air traffic control (ATC) as expected. At 1:19 a.m., the plane’s final verbal communication came from the cockpit: “Good night, Malaysian three-seven-zero.” Moments later, the aircraft disappeared from ATC radar screens as it left Malaysian airspace and failed to check in with Vietnamese ATC.
Initially, it was believed the plane might have suffered a catastrophic failure. However, military radar data later revealed that after losing contact, the plane made a sharp turn west, flew back over the Malay Peninsula, and continued over the Andaman Sea. This deviation from its planned route raised suspicions of deliberate action.
The Search
1. Initial Efforts
The first phase of the search focused on the South China Sea, where the aircraft was last tracked by civilian radar. When no debris was found, attention shifted westward to the Indian Ocean based on the military radar data.
2. Satellite Pings and the Southern Indian Ocean
Investigators discovered that MH370 continued to send hourly “handshake” signals to a satellite operated by British telecommunications company Inmarsat. These pings revealed the plane’s location along an arc stretching from Central Asia to the southern Indian Ocean. Combined with fuel estimates, investigators concluded the plane likely crashed somewhere along the southern arc after running out of fuel.
3. Underwater Search
A massive underwater search was launched in the remote southern Indian Ocean. Using advanced sonar and remotely operated vehicles, teams scanned 46,000 square miles of seabed. Despite these efforts, no wreckage was found in the primary search area.
4. Debris Discoveries
Beginning in 2015, pieces of debris confirmed to be from MH370 began washing up on the shores of islands in the Indian Ocean, including Réunion, Mozambique, and Madagascar. These fragments included a flaperon, wing sections, and interior components. While the debris confirmed that the aircraft had crashed, it provided little insight into the events leading up to the disappearance.
Theories
The lack of concrete evidence has fueled numerous theories about what happened to MH370. Here are the most prominent:
1. Pilot Involvement
One widely discussed theory suggests that Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah deliberately diverted the plane. Zaharie was experienced and respected, but investigators found a flight simulator in his home with routes plotted over the southern Indian Ocean. Critics argue this could indicate premeditation, but no definitive evidence of his intent has been found.
2. Hijacking
Another theory posits that MH370 was hijacked by passengers or crew. However, no group claimed responsibility, and there were no known individuals on board with suspicious backgrounds.
3. Mechanical Failure
Some speculate that a mechanical or electrical failure caused the crew to lose consciousness, leaving the plane on autopilot until it ran out of fuel. This scenario, known as a “ghost flight,” could explain the lack of communication and the plane’s erratic path.
4. Cargo Fire
A less common theory suggests that a fire in the cargo hold, possibly from lithium-ion batteries or other volatile materials, incapacitated the crew and passengers. However, this doesn’t fully explain the deliberate course change.
5. Shot Down
Some believe the plane was accidentally or deliberately shot down by a military force and the incident was covered up. However, there is no concrete evidence to support this claim.
6. Conspiracy Theories
The disappearance of MH370 has spawned a host of conspiracy theories, including claims of alien abduction, secret military operations, or a government cover-up. While these theories capture public imagination, they lack factual basis.
The Aftermath
The disappearance of MH370 had profound effects on aviation safety and regulation. Recommendations included improved tracking of aircraft, real-time data transmission, and longer battery life for underwater locator beacons.
For the families of the 239 people on board, the lack of answers has been a source of ongoing pain and frustration. Despite multiple investigations and searches, they are left with more questions than closure.
Renewed Efforts
In 2018, a private company, Ocean Infinity, conducted a new search in the Indian Ocean using advanced technology. While they covered over 43,000 square miles, they found no additional debris or wreckage. Some experts believe the plane may lie in unsearched areas, and there are calls for further exploration as technology advances.
Legacy
The disappearance of MH370 remains an enduring mystery, one that has captured the world’s attention like few others. It raises profound questions about how a modern aircraft with 239 people on board could vanish in an age of global connectivity and sophisticated technology.
As we approach the 10th anniversary of the tragedy, the search for answers continues—not only for the sake of solving the mystery but also for improving safety in the skies.
What do you think happened to MH370? Could new technology or discoveries one day solve this heartbreaking mystery? Share your thoughts and theories on one of the most compelling unsolved cases in aviation history.
