10 21 30 for Malachy 👀
QUEUE MY SOBBING OVER MY POOR MANS
10: What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
“I’m fine. I just got into a stupid fight.”
This started his downplaying of his abuse to Delia and it allowed her to turn a blind eye to how he was being treated by both her husband and the other guards. As the years went on he would be kicking himself every time he said something like that. Ultimately it lead to his mental health being in complete tatters and the events at the pub that followed.
21: Why do they get up in the morning?
To spend time with his niece. Malachy loved Mireska more than anything and he knew that looking after her was also a way of supporting his sister who was struggling with pretty nasty ppd. Knowing everything that had happened prior, he wanted there to be someone that she could trust and feel loved by. For the longest time that’s what kept him going. Sadly there was a point where even Mireska couldn’t help him.
30: Who do they most regret meeting?
Scath. 100% Scath. This was part of his conflict internally. Admittedly he wishes he’d never offered to help Delia. He’d always loathed Lord Sunbreeze just as his family did, and not only did that tyrannical rat of a man put his sister into a dire position, he treated him like shit and left him at the mercy of his main abuser: Fionn. There’s a reason he didn’t want to go home from the pub.

This is a developing news story and may be updated as more information is obtained. If you value such information, please support this Substack.
On Dec. 1, a woman immolated herself with a Palestinian flag outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta.
Now, according to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, the woman — referred to in their report as “Jane Doe” — is alive and “in stable condition” at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she has been since the immolation.
After repeated requests for her name, the department stated to this reporter in an email that it “does not disclose the identities of victims”. Repeated inquiries to Grady, which is a public hospital, went unanswered. The hospital houses the Walter L. Ingram Burn Center.
“Jane Doe” is 27.
When asked if they had made any comment to tell the public that she was still alive this entire time, the official at Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said they “shared the last updated with local media via email on 12/21/23. The release stated: ‘The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition. The security guard, who attempted to assist the burn victim, has been released from the hospital.’” Several internet searches on that quote produce no results. This would also indicate that "Jane Doe" went from critical to stable condition without public notice.
Aaron Bushnell immolated himself at the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, explaining “I will no longer be complicit in genocide” and shouting “Free Palestine!” repeatedly as he burned alive. So, his case — unlike many other self-immolations including Gregory Levey, Raymond Moules, Timothy T. Brown, Malachi Ritscher and others — has received some attention. Thus, “Jane Doe” being ignored fits with the usual pattern. Bushnell is the exception — probably because he livestreamed it. See “Ignoring Immolators Lulls the Society to Sleep.”
As Bushnell was burning himself alive, an officer pointed a gun at him, barking orders as if he constituted a threat. A security guard, Michael Harris, sustained injuries working to rescue “Jane Doe” — but there were similarities, where she was actually viewed as a potential threat.
At one point, the police report for “Jane Doe” refers to it as being a case of “arson”.
Much of the media coverage and general discussion of her self-immolation in December focused on if she had done damage. The Atlanta Police Chief said: “We believe this building remains safe, and we do not see any threat here.” The Israeli government released a statement: “It is tragic to see the hate and incitement toward Israel expressed in such a horrific way.”
Police records indicate that they obtained a search warrant and entered an apartment they believed to be associated with “Jane Doe” — initially using a drone:
The drone was able to relay information as to the layout and the belongings inside. After it was deemed "safe" entry was made with bomb technicians. While clearing the apartment no improvised explosive devices were located.
The police report also noted:
During the search a Quran was found in the bedroom along with a [sic] Arabic dictionary and a Hebrew dictionary. The bedroom bookshelf contained books related to fiction and fantasy. A "Drug use for grown ups" book was on the bookshelf as well. Two journals were seized from the bedroom. A thumbdrive was seized from the bedroom as well. A laptop computer was seized from the kitchen counter. A copy of the search warrant was left in the living room of the apartment. The front door [of] the apartment was secured before law enforcement left the premises.
When pressed for more information in compliance with an Open Records Request under Georgia law, Atlanta Fire Rescue Department claimed: “There is an ongoing and active investigation for the incident in question, which is why the only releasable information has been shared via the incident report. Investigative documentation is not available for release until the investigation is closed.”

Can you do one on Isaac being bullied and Malachi helping with it pls 🩷🩷
Yeah, sure! :D
Of course, Trigger warning; mentions/acts of bullying
________________________________________
As the bell ring, signaling the end of math class, Isaac sighed in relief. He hated math, although it was an important subject. He waited until the other students were mostly outside the classroom, so he wouldn't get caught in the sea of people on his way out. Stuffing his things into his schoolbag and leaving the classroom, he couldn't even walk away properly before someone grabbed his arm and shoved him against a wall. Isaac could already guess who it was, that stupid 7th grader who kept getting a kick out of bullying him: Tyler.
Isaac rolled his eyes, and attempted to just walk away, but Tyler kept him pinned against the wall. "Hey Fucker, how's your day?" ,Tyler asked with fake kindness, which just made Isaac scoff in frustration. "Horrible now that I've seen your ugly face" ,Isaac scowled, clenching his fists. Being called ugly was something Tyler hated, and so his immediate response was to slap Isaac harshly across the face, making the latter yelp quietly. "The hell did you say to me!?" ,Tyler exclaimed angrily, gripping Isaac's collar tightly. Isaac huffed, and tried to get away from Tyler, but to not avail.
Tyler growled at Isaac's attempts to get away, and kicked him in the stomach. Isaac coughed, holding his stomach, tears building up in his eyes now. "Ow- what the hell even is your problem!?" ,Isaac whimpered, trying to keep his voice from cracking as tears rolled down his cheeks. Tyler rolled his eyes, and as he got ready to punch Isaac, the latter squeezed his eyes shut. But after a few seconds, Isaac got confused when he didn't feel any impact. He opened one of his eyes, to be met with the sight of Malachai tightly gripping Tyler's wrists. "What the hell dude!? Let me go!" ,Tyler yelled, trying to free himself form Malachai. But considering Malachai was older, and stronger, the escape attempt proved to be anything but successful.
Malachai simply looked towards Isaac, and asked: "Has he been bullying you for a while or was this a one time thing?" Isaac hesitated to reply, but muttered: "..This has been going on for a while now..." Malachai narrowed his eyes, and then glared at Tyler, tightening his grip. Tyler cried out in pain, struggling around and shouting at Malachai to let go. Malachai scowled and then hit Tyler straight into the chest, knocking the air out of him. Tyler stumbled to the floor, coughing and gasping a little for air. Isaac's eyes widened, but Malachai just took him into his arms.
The students, and teachers, in the hallway stared at the two in shock, some were recording. Malachai just scoffed, and grabbed Isaac's hand, leading him away form Tyler. Isaac sniffled, his tears rolling down his cheeks rapidly. Malachai sighed and hugged Isaac, letting the younger boy sob into his shoulder. "T-Thank You-" ,Isaac choked out between sobs. Malachai just smiled a little and patted his back.

Happy Sibling Day!
Wow look at me, I actually planned ahead to make a piece for a specific day and finished it on time wowie.
Anyway have some sibling pairs bein’ cute!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay and since I suck at shutting up my thought processes behind the pieces!
Garroth and Zane: Hc that Zane is very smart but had some speech issues early on. Speech therapy helped a lot, to the point where he becomes almost absurdly eloquent as his reading quickly translates into his speech. The comic is set early on in this therapy, so he’s just starting to vocalize names, and he hasn’t quite grasped the -th sound yet lol.
Laurance and Cadenza: Okay I actually have two ideas for Laurance’s ginger phase that I can’t choose between.
Option 1: As Laurance got older he and Cadenza started getting confused for a couple by strangers, which got on both of their nerves. Laurance lost the draw for who had to change their hair color, but ends up really liking the orange as it makes him feel closer to Candenza
Option 2: Since Laurance and Hayden look more similar people start to assume Cadenza is just Laurance’s friend and not part of the family. It gets to the point where Cadenza wants to dye her hair brown to fit in with them, but knowing how much she loves her hair Laurance offers to dye his instead, so that they can be equally confusing.
Dimitri and Naoko: Dimitri was raised by Nicole for most of his childhood before her and Dante decide to try a coparenting situation. He’s hesitant about his new sister, but quickly warms up to her. All the parents are definitely recording it to embarrass him later lol.
Levin and Malachi + Lilith and Alina: I wanted to draw them all together, maybe in a joking rivalry kind of way, (child batch 1 vs child batch 2) but I settled for pictures of them on Aph’s walls.

damon being the last villain is better then the false legend they tried claiming katherine to be at the end I still lmao at the claim katherine is some bad bi#ch I'm honestly convinced the Squirrel Elena tried eating was a badder bi#ch then katherine lol why did they have thee Malachi parker say stupid sh#t like that
Even at her worst, Katherine's biggest priorities were surviving Klaus and messing with her ex and his new girlfriend so the show trying to spin her as this puppet-master-mind was ridiculous.
Also one thing I find interesting about Katherine is how much she's presented as this femme fatale who wraps men around her finger, and Katherine obviously hypes up this reputation and wants people to think she is. But that's not really supported by the narrative:
Nadia's baby daddy: arguably, Katherine's first love and the only thing we know about him is that he wasn't there when she went through labour and had her baby ripped out of her arms.
Klaus: Katherine's second crush and the second man in her life to fake being in love with her so he could user her.
Trevor: The first man that Katherine managed to "use" but this was only after he found her for Klaus and was willing to let her die. From what we see, it's not even clear if Katherine manipulated him or he just had a crisis of conscience.
Elijah: Arguably, the first man to love Katherine without first having an agenda but he didn't love her enough to stop his brother from killing her. He just came up with a plan that he hoped would bring her back to life. Then the second time they date, Katherine's cocky to Rebekah and Elena but who ends up dumping whom? Katherine begs Elijah to run away with her, but he decides to play house with Klaus's baby mother instead.
Damon: So far the only man that Katherine manages to manipulate without first using vampire compulsion. But considering how weird Damon is about his brother's girlfriends and close female friends, I wonder how much of it was Katherine and how much was Damon just wanting what Stefan had. Also considering how quickly Damon got over Katherine once Elena - Stefan's new girlfriend - was in the picture, I wonder how much of it was Katherine at all.
Stefan: Most, if not all of Katherine manipulating Stefan was Katherine using vampire compulsion to rape him make him OK with sleeping with her and Damon at the same time. So this wasn't about Katherine being a femme fatale but her using a superpower than every vampire had.
Mason: The second man that Katherine clearly manipulated. Although again this was less about her using her beauty and charm and more about her straight up scamming him like a con-artist when she pretended to be his friend so she could instigate him to triggering his wolf curse. Mason also hid the moonstone in a well of vervain so he didn't completely trust her either.
Not counting Cade because that's obviously the show pushing that narrative but notice how only 2 people claim that Cade was Katherine's puppet. Kai - who's trying to mess with Bonnie at the time and Katherine - who of course wants to believe that she was the one using him and not the other way around. Cade himself never mentions her and everything he's trying to do is for himself. To free himself out of Hell and to get more powerful. At best, I would say he and Katherine might have a mutual alliance but considering her track record, it's far more likely that this was another man who was using her.
So yeah, Katherine as the Ultimate Big Bad never made sense. Damon was the one whose brand of evil crossed from pragmatism to petty cruelty.

(JTA) — When I was 18 years old, like many American Jews, I spent a gap year in Israel. At a right-wing army-prep program called Mechinat Yeud, located in the illegal settlement of Efrat, I learned Torah, went on hikes and practiced krav maga. I fondly look back at this year as a positive experience and a time when I matured as a young adult.
I also saw the daily mechanisms of the occupation, though I didn’t have the vocabulary to articulate this.
Over that year, I saw Palestinians whose cars bore different license plates than those driven by Jews. I saw a checkpoint between Israel and the West Bank that was a formality to Jews like my friends and me but very real to the Palestinians living right next to us. Though I finished my year in Yeud with a strong desire to live in Israel, I also knew that I couldn’t be complicit in Palestinian oppression.
I eventually moved to Israel and threw myself into anti-occupation activism, spending weeks and months at a time in Palestinian communities in the West Bank. In addition to the bureaucratic oppression that Palestinians face on a daily basis, I saw — and sometimes was a victim of — the settler violence that plagues the West Bank.
During the American civil rights movement, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel famously referred to his protesting as “praying with his feet.” This past Yom Kippur, when the rabbis of the Talmud tell us to fully prostrate ourselves during prayer, I asked for forgiveness with my whole body by spending the Day of Atonement in Ein Rashash, a Palestinian Bedouin shepherding community located 22 miles northeast of Ramallah. Its residents had requested a 24/7 presence from solidarity activists due to threats from the nearby Israeli outpost of Malachi Hashalom.
According to a United Nations report released on Sept. 21, 1,105 Palestinians fled their homes and villages in 2022 and 2023. The report stated that settler violence is at a record high since the U.N. began documenting the trend in 2006.
This report includes the villages of Ein-Samia, Al-Qabun, al-Baqa and Ras al-Tin. All of these villages were located near Ein Rashash, and like Ein Rashash, the communities all relied on shepherding for their livelihood. Settler attacks in the Palestinian towns of Huwara and Turmus Aya, frequently described as pogroms, have received attention within Israel and internationally.
Ein Rashash has faced similar settler violence and harassment. Shortly upon entering the village, one can see where settlers shattered the windows of homes and destroyed an outhouse in an attack in June. The community is considering leaving their land just like the community of Ein-Samia and many others have done.
In response to this violence, a group of activists, most notably Rabbi Arik Ascherman, is spending long periods of time in Ein Rashash — located north of the ruins of Ein-Samia — to use our privilege as a de-escalating presence. When non-Palestinian activists are around, settler violence is less likely. Ein Rashash and the nearby villages are all located in Area C, the portion of the West Bank under full Israeli control as per the Oslo Accords. The Palestinian residents do not have Israeli citizenship, and they are subject to military law as opposed to the civil courts through which Israeli settlers are tried. “Protective Presence” activism is utilized in other communities in Area C that face regular threats of settler violence and home evictions, such as Masafer Yatta. I have done several shifts already, and I volunteered for the Yom Kippur shift.
I was accompanied by five other activists. The first thing we did was assign roles in case settlers came. Who would call the police or other activists? Who would film? Who would stand in front of a settler’s car if he tried to enter the village or drive through a flock of sheep? These are normal conversations in this line of work.
There is no break during Protective Presence activism. Either there’s an immediate incident, or you’re waiting for the next one. Every unfamiliar car or person in the distance can be a settler coming to attack or harass or bringing soldiers to force Palestinians off their land. A drone from the nearby outpost hovered overhead for around 30 seconds, and I was on edge for the next hour. You sleep with one eye open. Jewish holidays often bring with them right-wing violence in Israel and the West Bank. Hate crimes were carried out in Bat Yam this year and last year, and in 2021 there was a settler pogrom in the Palestinian village of Mufagara.
This is exhausting and emotionally draining. Unlike many other Protective Presence shifts I have participated in, Yom Kippur ended without incident.
After 25 hours, I had the privilege of going home to Jerusalem. Palestinians do not have this option. This is their life.
According to Torah, on Yom Kippur the Israelites are told to “afflict themselves.” The rabbis concluded that self-affliction must refer to fasting, reasoning that “affliction” refers to something that, when taken to a certain extent, can lead to death.
Life under occupation can, and does, lead to death. One look at the statistics makes that all too clear. Since 2000, 10,667 Palestinians in the occupied territories have been killed by Israeli soldiers or civilians.
Protective Presence is my self-affliction. And yet, in homage to Yom Kippur’s imagery of being sealed in the Book of Life, life goes on. Activists laughed with and got to know each other and our Palestinian hosts. We read and we ate delicious homemade food. We didn’t embrace misery as a form of repentance. We embraced the full spectrum of life.
I believe fasting is mentally, physically and spiritually unhealthy. The only self-affliction I find meaningful is in sharing the pain — and the joy — of my fellow human beings, particularly in a way that lightens their pain and suffering. The people of Ein Rashash have told us that our presence is making their lives easier and helping them stay on their land. The children are laughing and playing in a way that they were not when we first started these shifts. This has been the most meaningful Yom Kippur I’ve ever had.
In Mishnah Yoma 8:9, we learn that repentance on Yom Kippur only allows us to atone for the sins between ourselves and God. For a sin against another person, one must “satisfy their fellow.” We don’t need to ask God for forgiveness. We must stand with the Palestinians suffering under Israeli rule, until they’re satisfied.
I know that it’s not a matter of if the settlers will be back, but when. For as long as that’s the case, I will continue to pray with my body and sometimes “self-afflict” in the name of justice and equality. The Talmud states self-affliction does not absolve one from their sins towards other people, only those towards God. And yet, our sins towards other people are the ones for which we direly need to repent.

"You bitch!" Maverick barely managed to keep from sighing at the sound of Rose's voice, filled with fury. Great, someone else was pissed with her. She didn't even know what she'd done this time.
"I'm gonna need you to be more specific," Maverick drawled, turning on her heel to face the furious princess. There was sadness and pain in Rose's eyes, which did make her feel kind of bad for both whatever she had done and for being sarcastic, but the hatred made it easier to lock that remorse away and put up her normal front. "I do a lot of "you bitch" worthy things. I can think of like, twelve I've done in the last six hours alone."
"You killed Rook!" Rose snapped. So she was upset that Maverick had killed the person human trafficking her sibling? Sure, that made sense. Not. "I had dibs on killing him!"
Ah.
Maverick softened. "I apologize. I had no idea you'd called it, but that's no excuse. I'm sorry."
There was a long pause as Rose struggled to stay angry, but the sincerety in Maverick's voice had that anger and hate melting away to reveal the pain underneath. She sounded more sad than anything when she finally spoke. "Why did you kill him? You never get involved like that."
"Like that" meant Maverick walking into the Salazan's Grum courtyard, kicking the ass of half of the Queen's guard and killing a good portion, grabbing Rook, and teleporting back to the Mile. The part Rose didn't know was that the two weeks between him being captured and him winding up dead, mutilated and strung up on a noose hanging at the entrance to the courtyard, hadn't been captivity until she got around to dealing with him. No, those two weeks had been her undivided attention, until she'd grown bored of torturing him and had killed him, slowly. For good reason. "I know what he's done to Ace, but a few things recently came to my attention. Ace wasn't the only one." Her lip curled in distaste. Some people really went out of their ways to be evil and Rook was one of those people. "You know of Malachi Mim?" Rose nodded. The look on her face told Maverick that Rose, like most of the Isle, knew what Mim had been putting him through before his "death." "He was Malachi's handler, the one who pimped him out in public because Madre knew I'd kill her ass if she set foot outside doing it. Bought him far too many times to count, too. It's not like he saves up being a monster for three weeks just to take it out on Ace for one, he's a monster every day, he just knew he couldn't get away with constantly abusing your sibling. And then, as if that wasn't enough, he also moonlights in Maleficent's facilities. Gods help any of the poor kids he happened across. And then Constantine Westergaard- gods. What happened to Malachi made me look into Rook and what I found made me sick. Literally. So I killed him. Made it long and slow, drew it out, made it as painful as I possibly could." Her lips curled into a cruel smile at the memories. "If it makes you feel any better, he suffered. But I'm sorry I took your revenge from you. I'll be more careful in the future."
She let Rose process what she'd just heard, hatred returning, though now directed at a new source. When Rose finally relaxed, she knew they had come to an understanding. "Fine, I get why you did it. But for the record, I have dibs on killing our parents and you'd better not take that one or else I'll kill you as compensation."
Well, at least she had been planning on letting the twins have those cunts, anyway. "They're yours."

Four Criteria the Messiah Must Fulfill
by Jews for Jesus | July 01 2000
Tumblr media
So what’s the deal with the Messiah? For many, the Messiah figure seems like an ancient Jewish version of Superman—a childhood hero on whom most of us have long since given up. But according to the Talmud and the Jewish Scriptures the Messiah is not only real, but should have arrived a long time ago.
Maybe a Messiah who never comes is not such a big deal, but a God Who breaks His promises is a very big deal. The detailed messianic timetable in Daniel 9 allows us to explore solutions to these questions. Not only is there much more to be known about the Messiah, but we can know exactly when to expect him!
Fact One: The Messiah would arrive in a certain time frame.
The details of when Messiah will arrive are written in the book of Daniel. This prophet lived during the time of our exile in Babylon and received a vision that the Messiah would come 483 years after the command to restore Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple:
From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until an Anointed One [ad mashiach], the ruler [nagid], will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be rebuilt with a plaza and a moat, but in difficult times. (Daniel 9:25, CBS)
The “clock” on these 69 “weeks” (units of seven years) began ticking when Artaxerxes issued a decree to Nehemiah to rebuild the Temple and restore Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:1-8). While other decrees went out, this was the only one that involved both the Temple and Jerusalem. History records this took place in Nisan (March/April) of 444 B.C.E. That would mean the Messiah would appear by 33 C.E. History does not record anyone, other than Yeshua (Jesus), who was from that time period and claimed to be the Messiah.
Fact Two: The Messiah would come before the destruction of the Second Temple.
Daniel predicted that after the appearance of Messiah, “…the people of a prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary” (Daniel 9:26, JPS). We know that occurred when Titus’ Roman legions marched on Jerusalem in 70 C.E., destroying both the city and the Temple. The Talmud teaches that at that time people believed that the time of Messiah had already come, but because of the sins of the nation the messianic kingdom was withheld at the time it should have arrived.
The school of Eliyahu taught: Six thousand years is the duration of the world. Two thousand of the six thousand years are characterized by chaos; two thousand years are characterized by Torah, from the era of the Patriarchs until the end of the mishnaic period; and two thousand years are the period of the coming of the Messiah. That is the course that history was to take, but due to our sins that time frame increased. The Messiah did not come after four thousand years passed, and furthermore, the years that elapsed since then, which were to have been the messianic era, have elapsed. (Sanhedrin 97a and b [emphasis added])
Other passages support the understanding that the Messiah would come while the Temple was still standing. The psalm is one of the Hallel Psalms which praises God for His deliverance of Israel and of Israel’s leader, the king. Israel was rejected by its enemies, as was its king.
Hoshienu—Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord [emphasis added]. (vv. 25,26)
The only way that they could bless the Messiah from the house of the Lord was if the Temple was still standing! Ironically, these are the same words the Jewish people used to greet Yeshua when he rode into Jerusalem the week before Passover (Matthew 21:9–12).
Haggai, who was in Jerusalem as the Second Temple was being built, made the messianic prediction that the “glory of this last temple is to be greater than that of the first” (2:9).1 And Malachi confirmed it: “Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his Temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come” (3:1). Twelfth century Jewish scholar, Rabbi David Kimchi (also known as Radak), equated Malachi’s messenger of the covenant with the Messiah.2
According to Daniel, the Temple would not only be standing at Messiah’s appearance, but it would be destroyed soon after. That Temple, which was originally built by Ezra and beautified by Herod, was where Yeshua did most of his teaching and claimed to be the Messiah. The New Testament records the painful words of Yeshua to those who spoke of how beautiful the Temple looked after its refurbishing under Herod: “These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left here upon another that shall not be thrown down.”3 Yeshua was pointing to Daniel’s prophecy being fulfilled. Less than 40 years later the destruction of the Temple was so thorough that, to this day, the exact location of the sanctuary is unknown.
Fact Three: The Messiah’s lineage could only be identifiable while the Temple stood.
The coming of the Messiah had another time constraint: it was connected to his descent from the tribe of Judah.
The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; [emphasis mine] and to Him shall be the obedience of the people. (Genesis 49:10)
This well-recognized messianic prophecy indicated that Judah was to retain its identity until Shiloh (one of the names for the Messiah according to rabbinical literature) was to come.
Apropos the Messiah, the Gemara asks: What is his name? The school of Rabbi Sheila says: Shiloh is his name, as it is stated: “Until when Shiloh shall come.” (Sanhedrin 98b)
According to the book of Ezra (1:5-8), Judah’s position was maintained throughout the 70 years of captivity in Babylon. It was also intact back in the Land, until the Romans made the kingdom of Judah a Roman province. While there was a provincial government in place, about 50 years later (in 70 c.e.) that too ended.
Not only was the Messiah to be from the lineage of Judah, but more specifically from the house of David: “I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to My servant David: ‘Your seed I will establish forever, And build up your throne to all generations’” (Psalm 89:3-4 NKJV). This messianic prophecy clearly refers to a descendant of David. Proof of such lineage was destroyed when the Temple was destroyed.
And while we do not have the Temple records, we do have the record of Yeshua’s family tree in the accounts of his life by both Luke and Matthew. They both identify that he is from the house of David. We don’t know anyone else who lived at that time and claimed to be the Messiah, who is descended from the tribe of Judah and the house of David, apart from Yeshua.
Fact Four: The Messiah would be cut off.
The Daniel prophecy (9:26) says that after the seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, the Messiah would be cut off, but not for himself. This phrase “cut off” meant to be killed or destroyed, often used in the Tanakh to describe how a sacrificial animal was ritually slaughtered (Gen. 15:18; Jer. 34:18).
The idea that the Messiah would die was not new to Judaism. Isaiah wrote of one who would suffer and die for the sins of the people: “…For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.”4 Psalm 22 graphically portrays death by crucifixion, a method of execution not known to the author writing one thousand years before Yeshua was crucified.
Could it have happened just as Daniel so carefully predicted? Counting 483 years after Artaxerxes’ decree would bring us to 33 c.e. The Temple was destroyed in 70 c.e. That leaves a window of 37 years in which the Messiah from the tribe of Judah and the house of David could come. Not only that, but he was to die a violent death at that time.
Has Messiah Already Come?
God promised our people a Messiah, and He gave us a way of computing the time he’d be coming. Think about it. If Daniel is right and the Messiah came before the destruction of the Second Temple, that means we have to admit that the Messiah has already come. And if he’s already come, then who is he?
He had to arrive before 33 C.E, while the Temple was still standing, needed to be an identifiable descendant of David, and would be killed before the Temple was destroyed. The details of these facts together present some of the strongest evidence that he has in fact already come. The only person who fits that description is Yeshua from Nazareth.
Yes, for a Jewish person to consider the idea that Jesus might be the Messiah seems extreme. But every single one of us has been there and we’ve all come to believe that Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be.
If you’re unsure, why not ask God? The same God who communicated to us about when the Messiah would come and who he would be wants to reveal the truth to you, but it requires an open heart. He says, “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known” (Jeremiah 33:3). Do you have the courage to call out to Him?
