Julien lied by omission when he told Rhea his mother approved of the engagement to Violette. When he approached Charlene for her approval to propose, she was gave him an ultimatum. She knew he was still seeing Rhea and that he had real feelings for her. Charlene told him that if he wanted to propose to Violette, he needed to end things with Rhea. Having been in Violette’s shoes, Charlene didn’t want to trap the poor girl in a one sided marriage and offered Julien another option. Charlene gave Julien permission to propose to Rhea if that was what his heart wanted. When Julien offered to get down on one knee and ask Rhea to marry him, he has his mother’s full support. Julien would have married Rhea in a heartbeat if she had said yes. Rhea wanted to say yes, she didn’t want to lose Julien but couldn’t bind herself to someone, she was afraid of being trapped in a loveless marriage. 😞

AN: Thank you for humoring me as i procrastinate working on the next few scenes of chapter 6! I may circle back to Rhea from time to time. It’s been fun to work through the Rhea/Julien/Violette relationships and there’s a lot more to their story that I’ll probably, more like never, get to.

It's been a month (actually more like 3 months) since we last saw the Hensleys, and we're back just in time for Poppy to catch her train.

Candace: [...] And promise to call every day. I want to know what's going on with you over there, okay?

Poppy: I will, I promise.

Poppy: You know... You being a tattoo artist makes a lot of sense now.

Jack: How so?

Poppy: Well, tattoos are supposed to be permanent, right? So in your own way, you're creating something Sims will carry with them forever. It's like the bouquets at the flower shop — Sims don't give it that much thought, but they'll always be part of important moments in someone's life. That's what your art is too. Something constant. Permanent.

As they neared their destination, the cityscape gave way to sprawling fields, the hustle of daily life a distant memory.

Poppy: Ah, nature, sweet nature! Can you feel stress leaving your body already?

Jack: I can definitely feel something. Not sure if it's that, though.

Poppy: You'll see; by the end of today, you'll be so relaxed you'll be creating masterpieces left and right.

Jack: That's a lot of faith you're putting in me. And this trip.

Poppy: Well, someone has to! I'll make an outdoorsy Sim out of you yet.

Jack: Looks like Poppy over here is a great cook and forgot to tell us about it.

Poppy: Oh, I can't take all the credit. You did most of the chopping. Do you want some, Mia? There's still plenty left

Mia: I already ate on the way over. Jack, we have to get going if we want to see the movie.

Poppy: Aaaand we're done! Wow, look at that.

Jack: Guess we make a pretty good team, huh?

Poppy: We sure do. And now for the best part: we get to eat it!

Jack: Never. Besides, I think 'Spatz' is a great nickname for you. It suits you.
