#Madame Web movie 2024

We did some movie pick ups recently one of these might be a bit controversial that one being Madame Web on 4K. Now I did not think it was as bad as people made it out to be and I do have my own opinion on it but I did pick it up to be fair. I also picked up the newest DC Animated movie Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two as we always so with the DC animated and we have one more to go to the end I am excited for this and can't wait to watch them all back to back. Also I picked up My Adventures with Superman Season 1 which is only on DVD which I thought was strange it wasn't put on Blu-ray and finally we picked up Jason Statham action movie The Beekeeper on 4K which I had a bit of a problem trying to get. You can easily get it on Blu-ray or DVD no problem but trying to get it on 4K it took me a while which included one failed attempt but I finally got it so I was happy.

So we went to see the somewhat beleaguered Madame Web. I'm very familiar with the character and she has been an important supporting character at times in the Spider-Man Mythos. Now I thought it was strange to be giving her a solo movie being I felt it would be like giving J. Jonah Jameson or Betty Brant a movie of their own. I do believe that a live action Madame Web would be interesting and should appear as a supporting character in a live action Spider-Man movie being we are now in the Multiverse Saga that would make more sense to me then her getting her own movie.

Now after watching it do I think it is as bad as people are saying it is? I didn't think it is. When we went to see it this week I was expecting to just see a handful of people there but the theater they were showing it in must have been about 45-50% full of people there to see this which I thought was great because I always say to go and see things for yourself and make up your own mind, don't listen to negative reviews or scores.

Now of course being that this is a movie her origin is changed to fit into this cinematic universe and that is what this movie is it is a somewhat origin story so gone is the familiar older woman in red and we have her at a much younger age I felt it was an interesting way to introduce this character, would it be the way I have done it? not it wouldn't have but like I said it was an interesting way to do it.

Now not only is this a origin story for the character of Madame Web but it also serves as a somewhat prequel to the Spider-Man story, where you meet a young Ben Parker (played by Adam Scott) who is a co-worker and friend of Dakota Johnson's Cassandra "Cass" Webb so that would tie her into the Spider-Man story in this universe.

another thing is I heard people say that the movie is "clunky" and disjointed I think that was due to how they displayed Dakota Johnson's character's powers its like this weird choppy/jerkily/Juddering type of visual effect which makes the scene look a bit disjointed when it happens I feel its a stylistic choice to show a displacement in time as she looks into the future

I did like seeing the Spider Women in their costumes you only get to see them in the costumes a few times in the movie and it is due to like quick glimpse of the future which kinda sucks because from what you see looks really cool I liked how they did Anya Corazon (played by Isabela Merced) aka Spider-Girl Mattie Franklin (played by Celeste O'Connor) Spider-Woman and especially the Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman (played by Sydney Sweeney) or Julia Cornwall as they refer to her in the movie which I thought was weird. One problem I did have was with the introduction of Ezekiel at first I thought it was going to be cool and it would kinda open up the doors to a larger thing that involved Silk, Morlun and The Inheritors but he is just straight up the movies main villain. I just feel that the character was a bit wasted in this even though I did like Tahar Rahim as the character I felt they could have had some other bad guy and could have saved Ezekiel for something bigger.

Now of course I did like all the references that came with this one and especially what I could only assume was the live action version of The Web of Life and Destiny which I thought was really cool and you get to see it a few times in the movie and you get to see her use it around the end of the movie which was cool as well.

I know people complained about the acting but I didn't feel that that acting was bad and there was some good action moments I didn't find it overly actiony like I don't think I would call it an action movie but when they did do some fights and stunts and stuff like that it was pretty good.

but in the end like I said I don't think it was as bad as people are saying it is like I also said it was in interesting way to introduce this character but I probably would have done it that way if I was going to introduce a character such as Madame Web. So I can't say it was great and I can't say it was bad. Now if you are curious about the movie I would say give it a watch and see what you think yourself if you don't want to watch it then don't, but I don't believe it is as bad as people are making it out to be.

My 15 Most Anticipated Films of 2024!!

These are far from definitive, and quickly thrown together just right now. I'm missing a bunch that I'm legitimately excited over as opposed to some of these that I'm just kinda looking forward to, but I'm blanking on them, right now, so y'all get these, instead. Enjoy!

Madame Web (S.J. Clarkson, 2024) – 2.14.24 Meh... kinda looks garbage, but Sydney Sweeney as Spider-Woman, so... yeah.

Dune: Part Two (Denis Villeneuve, 2024) – 3.1.24 Part One felt too incomplete to not be excited for this. Hopefully the pacing is better.

Mickey 17 (Bong Joon Ho, 2024) – 3.29.24 Thoroughly enjoyed the book and I love Bong Joon Ho.

Civil War (Alex Garland, 2024) – 4.26.24 The scope of the trailer sold me.

Challengers (Luca Guadagnino, 2024) – 4.26.24 Zendaya + Guadagnino has me sold.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (George Miller, 2024) – 5.24.24 Haaave you seen Fury Road?!?

Ballerina (Len Wiseman, 2024) – 6.7.24 Ana de Armas in a John Wick spinoff... yes, please.

Inside Out 2 (Kelsey Mann, 2024) – 6.14.24 The first was so emotionally rich. I want Pixar to make me cry again.

The Bikeriders (Jeff Nichols, 2024) – 6.21.24 Love Nichols' previous films. Excited to see what he delivers with this cast.

Deadpool 3 (Shawn Levy, 2024) – 7.26.24 Wade + Logan Forever.

Alien: Romulus (Fede Alvarez, 2024) – 8.16.24 Huge fan of the franchise, won't ever not be excited for an Alien movie.

Beetlejuice 2 (Tim Burton, 2024) – 9.6.24 God, the first is just perfection, skeptical but excited to see what Burton has up his sleeves for this one.

Joker: Folie à Deux (Todd Phillips, 2024) – 10.4.24 First was meg, overall, but Phoenix was fantastic, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Lady Gaga does with Harley Quinn.

Gladiator 2 (Ridley Scott, 2024) – 11.22.24 Meh... this is here because of Ridley and Denzel.

Nosferatu (Robert Eggers, 2024) – 12.25.24 My actual most anticipated film of 2024. Hate that Anya isn't attached, but the promotional stills have killed any doubts I might've had.

It may be the other half of the Coen duo flexing his solo muscle, but it's his lead, Margaret Qualley, who owns the movie. Rating: 3 outta 5

I am pleased that this movie now exists to honor this unique individual, his beliefs and talent, but I felt like an outsider watching this movie and never fully connected. Rating 3.5 outta 5

PROBLEMISTA| A24 | Writer/Director Julio Torres -I had so much fun watching this movie! It’s totally my sense of absurdist humor. So recognized his plight of having to work for and placate an erratic person - Been there. Done That. Rating: 4 outta 5

Kinda pisses me off that people are judging this film so harshly, which is most certainly due to sexism. I will admit that this film was not the best I have ever watched, indeed the villain was mediocre, some of the dialogue was clunky, and the special effects were lacking, but that film was the first marvel film I’ve seen in a good FUCKING while that was ACTUALLY GOOD!!!

ALSO MOST OTHER MARVEL FILMS OF THE PAST FIVE YEARS HAVE HAD BAD SPECIAL EFFECTS?? SO ITS NOT DIFFERENT FROM LIKE- DOCTOR STRANGE OR SOME SHIT.

like I don’t enjoy marvel on a FUNDAMENTAL level but sweet jesus the response for this film is really telling of the shit in our society. The venom films SUCKED but I don’t see anyone talking about that..

like was it goofy af (at times unintentionally)? Yes, but it was fun! Like it was so funny to be in a theater of people laughing and going like omg.

I've not watched Borderlands yet but I could almost say its an okay movie based on the other movies that were THE WORST THING TO HAPPEN TO X or whatever

Perhaps I just find enjoyment in almost any movie idk
