I came up with more ideas- I DON’T CARE THAT IT’S CRINGE I DO WHAT I WANT!!

Someone said that Soos should be there as a chaperone. And I think it would be cute if Soos whole thing is him “parenting” the twins to get ready for when his own kid grows up. Cut to when things are getting real and Stan and Ford are kinda pressuring him to go home to be with Melody and his kid for the potentially small amount of time left until the world goes to shit.

Bruce takes him aside and is like; “Look. As a hero and I Father, I’ve been in your situation before. I’ve chosen this path long before I chosen to become a parent, so I always felt obligated to put the world first. But you will get no judgment from me if you choose to go be with your family.”

And Soos replies. “I appreciate it, Mr. Wayne. But these dudes are my family too. I can’t just leave them, I’ll never forgive myself if something happens to them.”

And Bruce just kinda pats his shoulders. “You’re a good man, Soos.” Idk I think it would be cute.

Mable is absolutely flirting with Damian. Honestly kinda a cool crackship lol. I’m thinking that Mable is 13 to Damian’s 14 so it’s not so outlandish. Damian is absolutely in love with Waddles tho, which makes him a bit warmer to Mable. So Mable sees this and is like “oh, he likes me more than anyone.” And then she tries to ask him out which he declines and Mable gets kinda awkward.

Ford, Dipper, Bruce, and Tim are working OVERTIME trying to figure out how to stop Bill from coming back. Eventually Alfred, Mable, Steph, Cass, and Wendy speak up like “Guys, you need rest.” And they’re arguing that something as small as sleep cannot possibly be beneficial. Until Wendy points to Tim’s screen and asks him to read what he wrote back to her. He can’t. It’s all gibberish. The four of them black out for 24 hours.

I was thinking that Bill would possess Joker’s body, but then it was just that they were too similar and it wouldn’t be too interesting. So I think Bill would most easily manipulate Jason.

Jason, for obvious reasons. Making him relive his trauma and reminding him how abandoned by Bruce he felt. Offer him a way to make Bruce truly see how hurt he was. How helpless he felt.

But I think he would try Duke first. Bill’s like “easy I’m just going to offer him a way to cure his parents.” Until he realizes that Duke can see past the way he presents himself. Something about Duke’s powers allow him to see into Bill’s plane of existence and who he truly is.

Something something Bill and Duke relating to each other because they see things differently than those around him something something.

Batman and Gravity Falls!!

Okay, so picture this.

The Pine Twins are on a school field trip to Gotham/Wayne Enterprises. Dipper, wanting to fill out his own journal at this point, convinces Mabel to seek away.

“What? You want to hunt down Batman?” Mabel asks.

“Not Batman. Manbats.” Dipper holds up a rough sketch of a bat human hybrid. “There’s been rumours about them. People mistaking them for the actual Batman only to get their face scratched off.” Dipper closes the journal. “Too bad we would only be able to talk to some locals. Obviously they only come out at night, but we’re already in so much trouble for bringing home Waddles.”

“Yeah, it’s too bad.” Mabel mopes. “I wish I could stay to lay my eyes open Nightwing’s Spandexed butt.”

Dipper pats her back sympathetically, “Hey, maybe we’ll get to see Signal’s spandexed butt.”

Mabel then rambles how Signal’s butt falls on her scale of vigilante butts. Pretty high up there tbh.

And then for plot reasons they stay out too late and not only see a Manbat, but also the Batman.

While Batman is figuring out a way to get them home safe, they over hear another investigation going on. Something with dimensions, portals, but most importantly triangles.

They struggle to convince the bats that they need the twin’s help. Until they mention Gravity Falls.

Gravity Falls was an anomaly to the Justice League. They’re aware something catastrophic happened but unsure what or why it went away. They have practically nothing to go off too. Townsfolk are committed to not acknowledging anything happened.

After seeing proof that the twins were there at the time of the incident, Batman decides to let them help.

“Well, uh, it’s hard to explain. My Great Uncle Ford knows the most about it, but he’s a little hard to reach right now…” Dipper fidgets, suddenly aware that BATMAN AND CO are counting on him for info.

“What about that thing that he gave us!” Mabel exclaimed. “The cellphone thing!”

“The cellphone thing?” Robin asks, skeptical of their whole story.

“It’s like this super phone that can reach our Grunkles in the arctic.” Mabel explained, searching her brother’s pocket’s

“But he said that we should only use it in case of an emergency.” Dipper swats Mabel’s hands away.

“Dipper. Bill Cipher is potentially back. How is this not an emergency!?”

Yeah, anyway I think it would be cute. Also Soos and Wendy are there. Soos because he’s sworn to always help and protect the Pines and he takes it very seriously. And Wendy because she doesn’t want to miss out on the action.

kosuke - words of affirmation they love telling their friends/students/coworkers that they care for them and that they're always willing to help out with things!! but mostly they always find the time to compliment others and encourage them to keep going (esp. if they're down) they love getting support as well, but they don't expect it back from others to the extent that they give. a quick pep talk is usually what they need to get back on their feet <:]

esra - words of affirmation he's usually embarrassed to say sappy stuff in usual circumstances, but he's definitely a guy that will cheer you on and support you. if you're feeling down, he'll definitely be there with kind words and letting you know that your feelings are valid and that you are loved when he's feeling down, he prefers a combo of both being comforted with words but also a big hug. even when he's not down, he always gets amped up when people believe in him so please give him those encouraging words!!

edwin - words of affirmation (receiving)/acts of service (giving) honestly he doesnt hear "thank you" enough and that's really all he needs to get throughout the day. he's usually very happy to help people and shows his care through that more than talking, but if you really want to get to him then just sit him down and earnestly tell him how much you appreciate him and his efforts. dude will break down and sob he tends to do things for people if he really cares for them. there's a reason why he took the caretaker role for his siblings lol

priya - words of affirmation honestly she's kind of abrasive usually, but she genuinely means all of her compliments. it's rare and few and far in between, but if you want someone who is super passionate about making sure you feel great about yourself, then priya's your girl she also loves being complimented. she's kind of egotistical and she's like "hahhh yeah i know you do/i know i am" whenever you tell her those things, but she genuinely does appreciate it!

yeongwon - words of affirmation (receiving), receiving gifts (giving) honestly this guy's a fucking mess so he really needs encouragement to keep him going!! compliment him on his art or whatever and he will Cry (not really but he will feel super embarrassed because he's not used to it/will never be used to it). he also loves to express his gratitude to people for the things they do and he always makes sure to repay them, one way or another <:D

kris - words of affirmation kris's a pretty quiet person but he really does feel great when he gets complimented. it's a very easy way to make him smile and he always puts on the best performance for people! it's one of the many reasons why he lives performing so much on stage, he gets to bask in his fan's appreciation and also be able to return the favor tenfold

andreia - physical touch she's usually pretty light with her touches but she definitely will be more affectionate around those she cares with. shes a big ol softy that likes to hold peoples hands or lightly touches their arms if they're less okay with that kind of intimacy. massages are very typical of her to offer/give when she sees her friends tense, but she's also very okay with giving hugs :) she's always really happy when kosuuke gives her a good massage. she's always unknowingly tense and kosuke usually is able to relieve the stress from her shoulders uvu b

noemia - physical touch she's very playful-aggressive with how she shows her affection, like with friendly slaps on the back or elbowing people in the shoulder. but she also loves giving a good hug! she usually has to tone down her shows of affection nowadays because she's not quite able to control her strength fully, but hugs are usually a safe option to go for her she thinks hugs are great. if she's feeling down, she'll need one. otherwise, just keep up with her slapstick and you'll be good

kade - physical touch they're a very huggy person. they get really happy and they want a hug. they get sad, more hugs. they just think that hugs are the greatest thing ever!! but also they love more gentle touches and doing affectionate things (to the point that it might look romantic), like running their hands through people's hair or slinging their arms over peoples shoulders

ryan - physical touch (giving), quality time (receiving) he's used to being a little aggressive, so he tends to roughhouse for fun just to show his affections with his friends. he's not used to expressing them otherwise, so while he does like his intimate moments (like hugs, light touches, etc.), he much prefers being rough with people he loves hanging out with his friends. genuinely he will make the most out of anything and everything, even if you didn't really have a plan in mind before you met. he enjoys doing what his friends like to do!

bonna - receiving gifts bonna's always liked receiving gifts. she doesn't usually get them now that she's older, but even the smallest things make her feel loved and remembered. it's easy to get her to basically almost squeal with happiness if you get her something bunny related! her favorite animals are bunnies :] she also likes to give people things, but it's usually in the form of money if she can't decide exactly what to get someone. as you'd expect she's REALLY good at secret santa, not like it's a competition or anything

pearl - receiving gifts she doesn't usually ask for much, but she enjoys shopping around and getting people gifts! especially when they have significance to her :] it's usually very practical things that vary from person to person she loves getting little toys and stuff, but she prefers things like pens or cute desk/novelty items to keep on her person yoongi - receiving gifts you know your girl loves frog stuff. she owns frog-themed EVERYTHING. she's super happy whenever you get her things in that vein!! as for gift giving, she tries her very best to find something that her friends would like. it takes a bit of time and contemplation, but she will go through hell and back to find The Perfect Gift

mable - receiving gifts mable's always been a bit shy, and she's found that giving gifts is the easiest way to show her appreciation to those she loves. it doesnt even need an exchange of words, but honestly she likes to write little letters because she finds it easier to put her words down there. she likes gifts for similar reasons, plus she thinks that putting the time and effort to look for something that reminds them of her is really sweet!

courtney - quality time courtney's actually a bit shy but she loves spending time with those she loves! she feels like she can really let herself go and just be herself, and being around them pretty much just relieves any worries about being judged. she also just loves hanging out and spending time out and about with them and catch up

ethan - quality time he definitely is the kind of person to just spend all day out and about. he lives for travelling and adventure, and spending time with people he cares for the most is his ideal pasttime! he and brutus (his boyfriend) would definitely spend an entire summer just travelling together still, he's no stranger to just chilling out and winding down at home. he needs a break sometimes yo

magna - quality time she was raised in a really close-knit family so it's no surprise to see her loving to spend time with people. she thinks that while gift giving is really nice, she thinks that spending time with people and making memories is something irreplaceable! she looks fondly back on her times back at home and misses spending time with them a lot

alex - acts of service he's usually very busy with something one way or another, so when he bothers to take some time out of his day to help you, you mean a lot to him. it's a very subtle thing especially considering he isn't very affectionate otherwise, but don't take it for granted! inversely, he doesn't ask much from people. he appreciates anyone who offers to help, but you'd have to get past his refusals first lol

thomas - acts of service (giving), quality time (receiving) thomas isn't the one to be outwardly affectionate, plus he's a bit abrasive when it comes to what he says and does. people don't always like it when he does it, but he shows his affections by basically doing things for other people. still, that comes very rarely since he's so self-centered. if he helps you with anything at all, he thinks of you as a very good friend/close he likes spending time with his friends and just hanging out. he's more reserved in this context, but depending on the situation he can have a lot of fun. plus, it's always nice to stretch your legs after a while, right?

monte - acts of service monte is very outright with his actions and will do everything in his power to help people. he just loves making people smile, and helping is usually the way to go! he also really likes being relied on and will always set aside time for people, friend or not. the main difference between strangers and his friends/family is that he usually considers their own preferences first-- do they WANT to be helped? he's definitely gotten in the way of them before, and reining himself in a bit makes their relationship a bit better he loves it when favors are returned, but it's not necessary. no strings attached

kho - acts of service (giving), receiving gifts (receiving) kho looks out for number one (ie herself). when she helps you and doesn't leave you for dead, she considers you an ally and someone she trusts! but don't thank her for her help, really-- she doesn't wanna hear it. she loves getting gifts. she won't ever admit it, but if you give her a gift with a note, she'll keep it somewhere safe and keep it close to her heart :]

kaito - acts of service kaito loves helping others. it's the main reason why they joined the guard after all! but it's especially obvious when they're your friend. they will bend over backwards just to help you out in your time of need and is always there in case you need something. they don't expect others to help them in return, especially since they believe they're capable, but they'll happily accept assistance and actually work alongside you to finish the job

I want to take the time to remember the late Isaac Hayes, soul music singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, score composer, actor, and of course the voice of Chef, who would have turned 82 yesterday.

Where do I even begin with this man? One of the principal songwriters, musicians, and producers for so much of Stax Records' heyday, co-writing several hits for the likes of Sam & Dave with Dave Porter as well as contributing organ, piano, saxophone, and horn arrangements to several records and becoming a critical figure in Southern soul in the process.

He would then went on to cut solo records of his own like Hot Buttered Soul, Black Moses, and the soundtracks for films like Shaft and Tough Guys, on top of headlining the iconic Wattstax Festival. In a time when soul music was largely driven by the three to four minute singles to crossover to the pop charts, Isaac crafted soul epics that demanded the listener's attention. Rather it be through originals or reinterpretations of others' songs, any song Isaac sang was instantly his. Besides pioneering progressive soul, Isaac would also foreshadow the rise of hip hop with his series of monologues known as "Ike's Rap".

Having grown up in poverty and having been friends with people such as Dr. King, Isaac always sought to not only deliver words of empowerment for black people but also make the world a better place. As the co-founder of the Black Knights, Isaac helped fight police brutality and discrimination, and would also establish food banks within Memphis and help black voters get registered. He would also establish the Isaac Hayes Foundation in 1999 to assist vulnerable populations in realizing their fullest potential in areas such as health care, economics, and environmental and human development. As an Ambassador for the World Literacy Crusade, Isaac would be crowned an honorary king of Ghana's Ada district for his work in supporting literacy. It was also in Ghana that Isaac opened a school designed to link African children with those in American inner cities through the internet.

So when two guys in Colorado were creating a show and came up with the idea of a soul singing school cafeteria chef, Isaac ended up being just what the doctor ordered. Beyond the credibility of having an actual soul singer voice the character, Isaac gave Chef so much more beyond that. Rather it be the wacky, surreal Kid's-Show-Gone-Amok or the greater emphasis on social commentary, Chef provided a strong anchor to the madness that surrounded him. He was the rock that the boys could always fall back on, the confidant when things go awry. Through Isaac, Chef had humor, joy, warmth, conviction, and ultimately, love. And that is both of their greatest legacies above all else.

🔫 — Despite his demonic origins, Seraphet very easily puts his trust in others. Perhaps because one might call the way he was raised as "sheltering". Perhaps because he knows who exactly to trust with his "sixth sense", so he had never been backstabbed. In either case, if he thinks you are worthy of becoming his friend, expect to hear his voice on your deathbed, for he shall never forget you. That comes with no betrayals as well (at least, conscious ones: you can still get in trouble, but it won't be of ill will). If given an ultimatum... Pray one of the sides doesn't include his family.

☄️ — Derres is the first person that any Spiderberry Hills visitor will meet, so it's very important that the first impressions are good for him! Many assumptions about him are correct, but a few stood out as particularly odd. Some talk of him as naïve or aloof, when it is simply not the case. Others had suspicions as to why he was the only witcher in the entire village, and they had to be dissuaded from the idea of their purposeful elimination. Overall, he is very easy to read, so if you have talked with Derres at least one time, you have a general picture of him.

🔪 — He would be terrified, to the point of freezing in place. Out of all the possible scenarios, this one applies to Keeares' pessimistic mindset the most, and yet facing the reality of it would crush him. As for who would be to blame, the Universe would be first on the list, before him. (I don't rember when I answered that before, sorrey lol)

👑 — Seven wants to be remembered as a magician that is worthy of continuing her family's legacy. That might change after seeing certain people, but hey, at least her passion is staying intact.

🎭 — Not much is different. For strangers she might lean into more mysterious side of themself, but Ies always stays as Ies, no matter the people.

🎨 — Lioo is a tattoo artist's apprentice, so of course she can draw! But on her free time, she rarely does so for herself. She's more into sightseeing. When she does have the inspiration, though, she likes to put down some sketches of more... artistic tattoos. Mainly of skulls surrounded by greenery.

🔥 — Believe it or not, Derres has none of those. You could say he pushes himself too hard to get around everywhere and help the villagers, but it's not done to an extreme and isn't often at all. By his own opinion, Derres is the best version of himself now, and he's glad he had reached that point.

PHILOSOPHICAL FOUNDATION

“At the core of Reproductive Justice is the belief that all women have

the right to have children; the right to not have children and; the right to nurture the children we have in a safe and healthy environment.”

Rooted in the ‘internationally-accepted human rights framework,” Reproductive Justice is a feminist activist framework in response to the binary debate around reproductive choices narrowly centered around access to abortion and dismissive of the cultural and socio-economic circumstances of women of color and indigenous women in their fight against gendered oppression and for reproductive freedom.

This movement was eager to broaden the scope of the debate toward reproductive justice, including the prominence of socio-economic factors to raise a child in a safe and sustainable environment. The right to decide not to have a child and ultimately regain control over bodily autonomy, decision-making, and the means to do so, which include access to contraceptive means and safe and affordable abortion. And the right to have a child in response to population control, specifically for Black and Native American individuals, and access to natural and safe birthing practices, affordable healthcare, housing, and education.

During a pro-choice conference in 1994, then-president Bill Clinton introduced his new healthcare reform plan. The proposed bill did not include a holistic approach to reproductive issues, shying away from recognizing the singular struggle of Black and Indigenous women with greater socio-economic challenges and fewer healthcare options. It also did not address the systemic discrimination of women of color to access better-paying jobs and opportunities for education, childcare, and support for motherhood. Finally, it failed to address the economic disparity that women suffer compared to men and the lack of support for low-income families to raise children across ethnicities. Twelve women organized an impromptu caucus, discussed the reframing of reproductive rights and social justice, and coined the term “Reproductive Justice.” These twelve activists are Loretta Ross, Toni M. Bond Leonard, Reverend Alma Crawford, Evelyn S. Field, Terri James, Bisola Marignay, Cassandra McConnell, Cynthia Newbille, Elizabeth Terry, “Able” Mable Thomas, Winnette P. Willis, and Kim Youngblood and formed the Women of African Descent for Reproductive Justice.

The story of Margaret "Maggie" E. Mills

This was originally part of the the third chapter in my family history on the Mills family, and published on WordPress, but has been broken up into various parts for this blog.

Maggie played an important part in the history of the Mills (and Packard) family. In 1883, Maggie married a man named Thomas Cosgrove. In February 1895 when Dora Mills died, one of her children came to live in Maggie’s household. That child was Mable Hattie Packard, who came to adopt the last name of Cosgrove as a result. While Thomas Cosgrove was alive in 1900, by 1910 he was seemingly dead, with Maggie and Mable boarding in a household, still living in Providence, Rhode Island.

While Mable would live until 1961, Maggie would live only until February 20, 1920. She was buried, like Joseph B. Mills, in the New Pottersville Cemetery. In fact, basically all of Dora and Cyrus’s children went to Dora’s siblings: some went to live with her sister Hattie, one to live with her sister Maggie as noted here, and likely others to varying other Mills family members scattered here and there.

Kool & The Gang Get Ready For Anniversary With New Album

Kool & The Gang are releasing their 34th album this year which is on the eve of their 60th anniversary as a group next year. "Let's Party" is the first sound from the new album and they recently performed the song on Good Morning America. The legendary funk and soul band is led by Robert "Kool" Bell and George "Funky" Brown these days and they are just as excited about music as they were at the beginning of their career. "Let's Party" has the same lively energy of their classic tunes like "Jungle Boogie" and "Celebration." The next album is called People Just Wanna Have Fun and it features some of the last horn work from Ronald "Khalis" Bell who passed in 2020 and Dennis "D.T." Thomas who died in 2021. The band recognizes the next album as a milestone in their career which will hit the 60-year mark in 2024. Robert Bell says,  “You’ve got the funk, you’ve got the jazzier tracks, we have a few ballads on there. Then there are songs that cross over to a pop sort of thing. We go from the ‘70s, the ‘80s, right into now. It’s old school, it’s new school — we kinda captured it all here. With all our music over the years, people have had fun. So I’d say this album just about sums it all up.”

Tonight they kick off their Kool & The Gang Rock The World Tour which is sponsored by Bell's Le Cool Champagne. People Just Wanna Have Fun comes out on July 11th.

I’ve been binging on 60’s r&b for the last 2-3 weeks and much of that digging has turned up Stax. I zipped up the finest of the 300+ records that were released during the label’s first and best era beginning with their first hit Gee Whiz and a few other early ballads before moving to some heavy grooves and early proto-funk. 

Stax history has been thoroughly documented through several books and films so instead let’s discuss the similarities between this music from 55 years ago and my other current obsession with the hard Flint rap of right now. Both eras were dominated by singles clocking in at under 3 minutes and albums being an afterthought or non-existent. Yes, YN Jay is Rufus Thomas, Enrgy beats is Al Jackson Jr, youtube and laptops are 45′s and jukeboxes. What is most different is that while currently Michigan is home to the grimiest raps, in 1964 the most refined polished soul music came from Motown and Stax in Memphis had that raw regional sound.

I love the idea of them being friends, either of the pairs! Patton and Mabel switching sweaters and bonding over their craziness. Dipper and Logan sharing facts and talking about past experiences (I also think that Logan would be  fascinated by Dipper’s birth mark but I might write that into a fic)
