Roman: I'm nothing. A nobody.

Janus: *slinking in from the shadows* What's so wrong with that?

Roman: *looks up startled before answering* No one likes a nobody.

Janus: Oh sweetheart. We both know that's not true.

Roman: What do you mean?

Janus: How many times has a show or a book have had a character with only seconds of screen time who somehow gains a devoted fan base?

Roman: Well...

Janus: Exactly. Eventually, you'll find your fan base. You will find those who will love you.

Roman: But-

Janus: Ah, ah, ah. No buts. It's the rules. If there is a character, there is someone who loves them. People are included in that rule as well. It's not just for fictional characters. Which means you are loved.

Roman: But who could love someone like me?

Janus: Me, dear. Me. And the rest of your family. You have your fans, you just have to see them. They love you. They love the person that you are.

Roman: What if I don't know who that is? What if I'm not sure what character I am?

Janus: That's the fun part. You get to decide your character. It's a choose your own adventure book. Completely customizable. And no matter what you pick, you'll still have someone who will love you.

Roman: Even if I mess it all up?

Janus: *chuckles* Sweetheart, have you seen the characters that some of these people simp for? You could be a serial killer and they'd fawn over you. So yes, even if you mess up.

Roman: I still don't know my role, though. I don't know what my character is or what part I play. I'm clearly not the hero.

Janus: *shrugs* Why can't you be the hero?

Roman: *Gestures to himself* Because I'm me. I'm no hero.

Janus: I think that's up to the author to decide.

Roman: *snorts* Who is the author? Jesus?

Janus: *rolls his eyes* You are. Obviously.

Roman: Me?

Janus: Yes. Have I not made that clear during my whole "You can create your own character" spiel?

Roman: *sighs* Yeah, yeah. Whatever. But what if I don't know what character I want to be?

Janus: Then just be Roman.

And maybe it was that simple. At least in theory. It isn't easy deconstructing the roles you forced yourself into. Nor is it easy to teach yourself to be the person you want to be instead of chasing the love and affection of others to the detriment of your identity.

Because most of us want to be someone. To matter and be loved. But what value does being someone hold other than placing us in a role to entertain?

In the end, being a nobody is much more fun. To be able to build yourself from scratch beside a fan base that cheers and loves you as they watch you grow.

Maybe someday Roman will be a somebody. Maybe one day all the nobodies will become something special. But for now, the story has just started.

Since people enjoyed my last Sides post, heres some 2-3 year old memes I made that have been rotting in my files. The designs have changed drastically but they're still pretty funny

Imagine feeling your body start to rot and decay while you are helpless to stop it. Unable to breathe or move as you watch the last bits of your sanity melt away into delightful compliance.

Wonderlust (name is up for change) is a puppet, a host for the greater will. No longer a vessel for creativity he instead is now a mimic of what The Righteous wants him to be and he loves every second of it. He’s the scout and the knight of the Light sides. Willing to do anything his family asks of him. What a wonderful protective brother he is How much Roman is left in this slowly turning to wood body is truly a mystery although his ever constant black tears are a reminder that this puppet once was a real boy.

Wonderlust is ready for ascension, ready to leave the plane his corrupted body resides in and go fourth to truly help the world be like The Righteous wishes it to be. He wants the world to be in The Righteous’s image.

Often spotted playing with brother or looking for the dark sides you’ll hear him long before you see him. The loud wooden noises and loud painful groans that accompany him whenever he is moved around is truly a musical experience to behold

I truly think Roman would be horrified filled with wonder seeing what he had become.

(That’s the lights side completed next will be Janus of Logan depending on which redesign I get inspiration for first. The details on this piece are my favourite. While he didn’t get much of a redesign he did get a lot of new details. Such as the thorns barbed wire and chains that replace his gold trim. Btw those were a pain to draw I am filled with regret.

Roman is sitting in his room, working on a project while reading comments. A shadowy figure creeps in the corner, watching and whispering insecurities, unnoticed, as it had been for a while. This time, it reveals itself.

???: Hello, Creativity.

Roman: *jumping up and turning to face the figure, sword summoned in his hand* Who are you?!

???: Oh my dear, who I am is unimportant. What matters is who you are.

Roman: What do you mean?

???: I mean that I've been... keeping an eye on you for a while now.

Roman: You've been stalking me?!

???: I guess that's one way you could refer to it, if you wish. I prefer... gathering information.

Roman: I'm pretty sure that's what stalking is.

???: The specifics are irrelevant. Much like you.

Roman: What?

???: Oh, you sweet little dear. Haven't you noticed. They don't need you, much less want you. You are worthless to them. To everyone, I'm afraid.

Roman: *sputtering* What?! No, I'm not.

???: Are you sure~

Roman: *opening and closing his mouth* I mean... surely...of course they...

???: You don't sound so sure of yourself. I think you know how little you are worth. You know the truth. Stop lying to yourself. You are nothing.

Roman: That's....That's not true!

???: Isn't it?

Roman: ...I...

???: Exactly. You are worthless. You are useless. You have no point of existing. Your existence is meaningless. You are nothing but a burden. Do them a favor, and leave.

???: *outstretches his hand* Let me take away your pain. Let me take it all away. They would be better without you anyway.

And Roman believes him. He's been telling himself the same things for a while. He was all that and more. He was a mistake.

He stretches out his arm, ready to take the mysterious figure's hand. He almost does, until a notification pops up on the screen beside him. It's a new comment that appears up at the top of the feed he was scrolling through. He gives it a brief glance before it immediately draws him in.

"This video was so well timed. I've been having a terrible week. I was really struggling. But then this video came out and I feel so much better. You always talk about serious topics in a lighthearted way that's so easy to understand and relate to. It has seriously helped me through some tough times. Thanks man, keep up the great videos. And props to Roman for the vid idea ;). Have a great day! <3"

It makes him freeze. Even though he knows the commenter meant it as a joke when they thanked him, made obvious by the winking face, it still was kinda true. It was his job to come up with video ideas. The very video ideas that helped the commenter out.

He stands and stares at the comment for a second before he pulls back his arm and tucks it at his side. He looks back at the figure.

Roman: You know, maybe you're right. Maybe I am all those things you've said. And maybe the others would be better without me. *He glances back at the screen.*

Roman: But if I can make a difference, even to one person, I think I can justify my existence.

I was going down memory lane and the urge to draw these freaks again, came. Not fully satisfied with how they look but I personally think it’s a massive improvement from how I used to draw them
