ngl im fucking terrified of how the fandom will act when the asian ccs get added and they are confronted with asian customs such as honorifics, asian cultural norms, and the language itself (ie words that are common in one language that sounds like a slur in another) and i know most of the fandom will be open and welcoming but idk im probably being way too pessimistic as someone who is asian and has seen the bs that people can spew esp regarding things like stereotypes

As a mixed race person I want more angst about Spock being “a child of two worlds”

More Spock angst about him not fitting in on Vulcan or on Earth, how both cultures are so close yet so far in both directions and how even if you try to “pick one” to grow up with, you still end up with regrets of not honoring/feeling ashamed of the other.

More Spock angst about growing up not knowing anyone else like you, and even when you find a place that embraces diversity you still feel like the odd one out.

More angst about not being able to please both parents/guardians because you’re too much like one culture or the other

I know there’s an alright amount of it out there but I crave MORE

The city on the edge of forever meant so much to me as a kid because it highlighted that despite the fact that Kirk was also out of place with his clothes, Spock was THAT MUCH MORE out of place because of how his body looked (as opposed to clothes which can be changed) that he hid parts of himself to fit in more…

(It also means a lot because this episode Kirk tries to explain Spock’s ears as him being in a rice picker accident and that Spock was Chinese— which yeah is racist asf but as a kid I actually thought Spock was Asian and related to him a little bit more because of that lowk since he woulda been half Asian-half white like me (since the ears were the “Asian” portion and that’s one of Spock’s Vulcan features?? And his mom, Amanda, is white; Idk it made sense to 10 year old me)

This is kind of a pointless post, but I've been watching Asian BLs for just over nine months, now, and it's just been so nice? And it's still so nice! I don't know. I've spent at least two decades seeking out whatever queer media I could find (I'm still kinda mad at myself that I never stumbled across these shows earlier) and it's been great and there are so many wonderful films and a handful of shows I've enjoyed but I was getting burnt out on not being able to find what I was looking for or of yet another wrong person, wrong place kind of romance. Which are nice! But sometimes I just wanted more fluff. And now I've stumbled into an abundance of it, along with so much more.

It's just... the variety and the accessibility and the sheer number of happy endings!! And they're shows so I can really sink into the stories, which is lovely. It's just... So nice, you know? I'm still having the time of my life and I'm so excited for everything I still haven't seen and all the shows yet to come!! I wanted to write a longer post, but I don't really have anything to say. Guess I just wanted to let everyone know it’s been nice! 😂

I needed to write this headcanon down.

Cybertronian names are either translated, replaced with an Earth name, or their names said with an ‘Earth accent’

Sometimes names are simply translated from their language to a human language, like with Starscream.

With Megatron, that isn’t actually how you pronounce it. It simply is how you would pronounce it with an American accent, and if another culture hears the original cybertronian pronunciation, they would probably pronounce it differently.

Names like Optimus Prime is a mix of the two previous methods. Optimus is the ‘Earth pronunciation’ while Prime is a direct translation of his title, but you could also translate it differently to something as simple as ‘Leader’ or maybe even ‘King’

The last method is the cybertronian choosing an Earth name completely, like with Jazz or Bumblebee. Jazz’s true name probably was related to Cybertronian music and decided to name himself after Earth music instead.

Bumblebee kinda stumbled into his name after finding out that the first letter of his Cybertronian name looked like the letter B in the English Alphabet, then it turned into Bee to refer to the bug, and then Bumblebee.
