whatre some of ur art influences?
mm its pretty broad. some (currently practicing) artists im really obsessed with at the moment are salman toor, leo fox, jeremy sorese, amanda ba, dan huston, joanna foliveli, carly elizabeth schmidt, remy boydell, lynda barry,, and the list goes on and on and on. You can tell i have a weakness for figurative works and portraiture lol
but on a broader level im very influenced by conceptual theatre and set design, i’m very taken by time based format and process based work. a lot of my personal artistic process involves mixed media experimentation and a lot of color layering and mixing so i’m really inspired by things like how stages tend to be lit. I’m also really interested in color theory and color logic so i spend a lot of time watching and perfomring color experiments and thinking about color from a more scientific perspective. thats a very nerdy answer but i am a bit of a nerd about art and i wouldn’t enjoy studying it so much if i wasn’t deeply fascinated by color and material

Yes ofc! Your hard work really shows, I think everything blends together quite pleasantly. ahh really? What kind of cake do you like? There's so many flavors, personally I find it hard to decide. The nickname dear is cute! Please, keep using it. (≧∇≦)
Oh, thank goodness. Ahh I was worried I'd overwhelm you!
Woah, 4am wake up time? Is your commute that long? Or is it classes that force you up that early? What do you study? Henna is so pretty!! Omg I don't think I've met someone who does it before, it's cool to meet someone new !! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )
I'd be more than happy to be your hand model but I must warn you I use my hands frequently. </3 The stain would likely fade quicker, though I suppose that'd make a good excuse for me to come back. ( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ ) ahh your reasonings for your interests are endearing, having such long standing things is sweet! What kind of things do you write? What'd you draw? What has been your favorite henna design you've done?
Ahh my hobbies & interests? I enjoy baking, exploring, cleaning (if that counts?), video games, etcetc. The list is a little underwhelming, I apologize haha. I am interested in getting into pottery though that'll have to wait for now as my circumstances wont permit me to pick it up atm.
Oh that's adorable! The name I mean, ha. It's awful it passed after a couple days :( bugs life spans are always so short. A cat? Oh! What kind? I don't own any pets, sadly however the people I'm moving in with do! ( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ ) two cats! Once I live on my own I'd like to get a cat, they are my favorite. <3
Your plan sounds lovely! Would you prefer to make more money than your partner or would you want it to be equal or does it not matter? Haha we'll see about making those dreams come true.
Mm I don't have anything very grand either, truth be told! I'd like to get a decent job (or not work at all. . . but that's besides the point and also, impractical.), find a lover (or friends but, yk, a lover is ideal.), I suppose finding satisfaction as well? For as vague as that is, haha. <3 It seems like a lot of our goals overlap, how cute!
Ahh you're right, I guess you do learn a lot through surface level questions haha. Thank you for that new perspective, Kio!
My favorite color is brown! I adore most shades. Navy blue and cream are also close second and third respectively. Food, oh good question! I guess I really like sweets? Specifically things with strawberries and vanilla! (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) Though something with apples also isn't too bad, as for why? I just really like vanilla centered things! Mm I'm feeling okay! I cut my tongue though and kept spitting up blood this Moring, ew haha. Not a pretty sight, I must admit. Ahh that aside I feel fine, a tad cold though. You? How are you feeling? haha it's funny you ask, I am actually quite tired, if you're still offering I'd gladly fall asleep in your arms! I adore cuddling, I've been told I'm a touchy person IRL haha. (๑'ᵕ'๑) mm I left yan sphere because I had an unrequited obsession but also! I hated how jealousy made me feel, you know? How all consuming it becomes and how emotionally reliant I became on that persons acknowledgment. I realized I didn't care about them, I was just dealing with a rush of infatuation and I think that's what threw me off most as it was the hardest to admit. Mm honestly I think I've become more of a darling than a yandere atp, though I do still deal with obsession. </3
Thank you! My day has gone well, I went out on a walk and made coffee, Kio!! Do you like coffee? If not than what do you like? How would your ideal morning go? What's your day to day like? Favorite animal? Favorite song rn?
ahh I apologize for how long this took me, btw!! Ha I was asleep when you responded and got interrupted when writing my reply. Please get back to me when you can but again, no rush! I hope your family situation clears soon. <3
Sincerely, 🍰.
My misery has been eliminated, my dear cake is backk yayy!!
I love all types of cake, cake is cake! ^^ it really hard to decide but if I really wanted someone to gift me cake, I’d want a chocolate cake or cheesecake.. waah I’m hungry for cake now but my entire family LOVES terumatsu cake. Sometimes when I or my sister come home during breaks they buy it for us. My dear cakeee mwahh!! So glad you like your nickname 🫶 I’ll definitely keep calling you that!
No I sleep the dorms, a lot of my classes are just really early and really late, regular times are normally 6am - 8pm. Today it’s been way busier so I had to wake up earlier to finish everything. I study computer science, my sister studied it too since our parents wanted us to. Unfortunately I didn’t really have a choice..
Henna was always a dream for me. It’s my dream job but I doubt I can make a living off of it. My favourite henna design are always the ones that take days to make, for some reason I can’t do henna in one sitting, I have gaps between each time I do it. What are you doing with your hands huh? hmm..? is it loving me and stroking my hair before I sleep?
I like writing the yandere things you see me writing here, sometimes conspiracy theories, for games, movies etc. Depending on the subject making a college essay is actually fun sometimes.. I have a love for writing in all areas.
I used to draw a lot of landscapes, animals, etc. I always avoid drawing humans for some reason.. they were really hard to draw for me but I’m getting better! ^^
Ooo you have such interesting hobbies..Let’s bake together! We should have those joined sinks and wash dishes together dear! I bake here and there sometimes, I also cook for my family whenever I go home. Exploring? You remind me of my childhood where I’d make friends with random kids in weddings and go explore with them. Unfortunately making friends now is way harder.. Do you want to travel together? Explore different places? That’d be fun! What video games do you play? The only ones I mainly play now are Genshin and Roblox sometimes but I never really have time to play. I also wanted to take pottery.. I plan on getting classes for it! I also want to crochet but my situation doesn’t allow me time to practice at all. :(
Your neighbours are so lucky.. I want cats so fricken badly!! I want a ragdoll cat mainly but I’ll take any cat! Ragdolls just look so fluffy and cute.. they look so friendly too! What type of cat do you want? Maybe if we move together we could have a lot of cats..
The roles to me don’t matter, I could be a housewife or a worker. You wanna be my dear housewife/househusband with your love of cleaning and baking? I could work a job for you! I’m used to long hours and multitasking so it’d be perfectly fine to me! Nor do I care about money, we should at least be making enough money for essentials and a few luxuries, thats all.
Similar goals eh? I love giving people new views and perspectives, you never know, surface level questions could end up being more deeper questions the more you proceed with them.
Brown.. reminds me of chocolate cake and sweets, it matches your vibe! My favorite color is pink if you couldn’t tell from the entire vibe of the blog! Even your favorite foods match your person! :) I also love vanilla centered things but I hate jam centred things.. I just dislike them especially if jam falls on my clothes :( it’s a pain to get the stain out
You cut your tongue?? Are you okay? do you need me to kiss it close? I feel exhausted today.. I helped some people with their problems, assignments breakups, etc and I’m absolutely RUINED :(( I’m a very social and extrovert person so talking doesn’t make me tired at all but today it took such a big hit on me.. someone gave me a lollipop but it tasted absolutely disgusting. I love cuddling too!! It makes my heart flutter whenever I think of sleeping and cuddling in my darling’s lap and forget all my problems. It is really cold out today for me too. I went outside without a jacket cause it didn’t match my outfit, I ended up getting absolutely freezing and miserable after! ^^
Your explanation is actually very interesting.. I like your point of view on it. I don’t have much to say about it but my respect for you has definitely increased!
I LOVE coffee, I hate black coffee though, it tastes absolutely disgusting (no offense if you like it ofc! It’s just my opinion) I prefer my coffee with sugar and I’ll be happy! My ideal morning is me waking up, actually having breakfast on time, then taking care of my face by putting a face mask/treatments etc. Honestly having a full productive day is hard for me, a few parts of my day become productive but then I lost my thought process and get distracted. My day to day life isn’t too fun, it’s just wake up, classes, lunch, classes/study in the library , go back to dorms, do more homework and other thing, sleep. Sometimes fun things come up here and there but thats my normal day.
My favourite animal is cats! They’re so cutee!! I’d let them scratch me and hurt me and I’ll still love them like they’re my guardian angel.. my favorite song currently is “moon girl” by temachii, I saw it randomly on my fyp and it sounds so pretty! Whats your favourite song? Can I listen to it? Whats your favourite animal and why?
It’s okay! This took especially long to write too ahaha.. I’m used to writing long so it’s fine for me! I just take a while since I’m not the best writing in English. Thank you for being so thoughtful and not rushing me. My family situation is getting much better! Thank for your concern
I was wondering.. what are your pronouns and do you prefer me call you by feminine name (like housewife, wife etc?) or more masculine names?
Love you so!

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Review: A Journey from iPhone to Foldable InnovationThe Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is here, and as someone who has recently switched from being an iPhone devotee to a Samsung enthusiast, my perspective on this device is uniquely positioned. This review won't delve into every technical detail, as plenty of those exist already. Instead, I'll share my experience transitioning from the iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra a few months ago and now to the Z Fold 6. This journey from Apple to Samsung has been fascinating, filled with new discoveries and some nostalgia for my old iPhone. So, let's explore the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and see if it has truly won me over. The Switch from iPhone to SamsungBefore diving into the Galaxy Z Fold 6, it's essential to understand my background. I was a dedicated iPhone user, deeply embedded in the Apple ecosystem. My daily life revolved around my Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch. Transitioning to Samsung wasn't just about changing phones; it was about adjusting to a new ecosystem. The S24 Ultra was my gateway into this world, and now, with the Z Fold 6, I am fully immersed.Sponsored by Banks: Protecting Your FoldableBefore we dive into the nitty-gritty of the Z Fold 6, a quick word from our sponsor, Banks. They offer a range of cases and accessories designed to protect and enhance the Z Fold 6. I have two cases from Banks: the Aurora Armor Air Case and the Montage Armor Air Case.Aurora Armor Air Case: This case is crafted from 600D Kevlar fiber, providing a sleek, minimalist design that is 0.7 mm thin and lightweight. It feels smooth in the hand and offers raised lens protection, adding a sophisticated look to the Z Fold 6.Montage Armor Air Case: Made from a blend of 600D and 1500D Kevlar fiber, this case also protects the hinge. It's lightweight, thin, and provides a comfortable grip, ensuring your phone is safe without adding bulk.Neither case covers the front of the Z Fold 6, which is a plus. Front-covering cases often interfere with screen protectors and reduce the viewing area. Banks also offers a screen protector and lens protectors, ensuring comprehensive protection for your device.Specs and Design: How Far We've ComeThe Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 boasts impressive specs that highlight how far we've come from the Z Fold 5:Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy (customized for Samsung)RAM: 12 GBWeight: 14 grams lighter than the Z Fold 5Displays: Cover display is 1 mm wider; internal display is 2.7 mm widerBezels and Hinge: Smaller bezels and a thinner hingeBrightness: 2,600 nits (up from 1,750 nits in the Z Fold 5)Colors: Silver Shadow, Pink, Navy, Black, and White (Black and White are online exclusives)Battery: Same size as the Z Fold 5, but with two extra hours of video playbackCamera: Slightly tweaked system with a 50-megapixel main cameraThe Z Fold 6 is available in 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB versions, priced at £1,799, £1,899, and £2,099, respectively. Despite its high cost, the Z Fold 6 promises a premium experience. The Foldable Experience: Crease and FlatnessOne common concern with foldable phones is the crease. While it's still present in the Z Fold 6, it's less visible than in previous models. In normal use, without harsh lighting, the crease is barely noticeable. The Z Fold 6 also opens flatter than its predecessors, enhancing the overall user experience.Camera System: A Mixed BagThe camera system on the Z Fold 6 is good but not flagship-worthy. While the 50-megapixel main camera and wide-angle lens produce beautiful photos with vibrant colors, the lack of a 5x or 10x optical zoom is a drawback for content creators. The zoom capabilities of the Z Fold 6 are not on par with the iPhone 15 Pro Max or the S24 Ultra, which is a significant limitation for those who rely on their phones for photography and videography.Battery Life: Adequate but Not ExceptionalBattery life on the Z Fold 6 is decent, but it doesn't match the S24 Ultra or the iPhone. While it can last a day and a bit, it doesn't provide the two-day battery life that some flagship models offer.
For heavy users, this might be a concern.Display: Bright and ProductiveThe internal and cover displays on the Z Fold 6 are significantly brighter than those on the Z Fold 5, making them more usable in bright sunlight. The cover display, now 1 mm wider with smaller bezels, is more practical than I initially thought. It's great for one-handed use, especially when multitasking.Productivity PowerhouseOne of the standout features of the Z Fold 6 is its large internal display, which excels in productivity tasks. Whether it's emailing, working in Notion, managing social media, or browsing the web, the expansive screen offers a great experience. Samsung's software optimizations for the foldable display enhance usability, making multitasking a breeze.AI Features: Useful but Not EssentialSamsung has integrated Galaxy AI features from the S24 series into the Z Fold 6, leveraging the large internal display. These features include smart search, translation, and note assistance. While they are clever and occasionally useful, they don't significantly enhance the core smartphone experience. The fundamental aspects like camera quality, display brightness, and battery life remain more critical. Conclusion: Is the Z Fold 6 Worth It?If you own a Z Fold 5, upgrading to the Z Fold 6 might not be necessary. The improvements are more refinements than revolutionary changes. However, if you're new to foldable phones or looking to switch from another device, the Z Fold 6 offers a compelling experience. It combines a premium design, excellent display, and solid performance. The camera system, while good, may not satisfy those who need advanced zoom capabilities. Battery life is adequate, but not exceptional. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Z Fold 6 feels like a premium device, justifying its high price tag.Gadget Kings PRS: Your Go-To for Phone RepairsIf you own a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 or any other smartphone and need repairs, Gadget Kings PRS is your best option. INTRODUCTION The Poco F4 GT is seldom a shock feature-wise. The magnetic pop-up buttons do use gaming-specific ability and can also work as faster methods normally used. They'd maybe produce outstanding toys, also The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is great for video gaming, however, its performance doesn't discriminate - most likely the peak Android chip right now, and it fits the marketing story well. Xiaomi's give 120W adapter remains in the box. The F4 GT's video camera system is not rather roughly the very same high. It does cover the principles with a 64MP primary system and, likewise, a simple 8MP ultrawide, however, it's barely a cameraphone item. Poco F4 GT specifications at a glimpse: Body: 162.5 x76.7 x8.5 mm, 210g; Glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus), glass back, light-weight aluminum frame; Physical magnetic pop-up video gaming sets off. Display: 6.67" OLED screen, 1B colors production, 120Hz revitalize rate, HDR10+ supported, 1080x2400px resolution, 20:9 element ratio, 395ppi density. Chip: Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm); Octa-core (1x3.00 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3x2.50 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4x1.80 GHz Cortex-A510); Adreno 730. Memory: UFS 3.1 8GB RAM, 12GB RAM, 128GB & 256GB ROM OS/Software: Android 12, MIUI 13. Back Video Camera: Wide (main): 64 MP, f/1.9, 26mm, 1/1.7", 0.8 µm, PDAF; Ultra wide angle: 8 MP, f/2.2, 120 ˚; Macro: 2 MP, f/2.4. Front Cam: 20 MP. Video capture: Back electronic video camera: 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, 720p@960fps, HDR; Front camera: 1080p@30/60fps, 720p@120fps, HDR. Battery: 4700mAh; Quick billing 120W, Power Delivery 3.0, Quick Charge 3+. Misc: Fingerprint reader (side-mounted); NFC; Infrared port; Online closeness seeing. DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY Poco might have pulled out of the Pc video gaming name for the F4 GT, as they completed with the F3 GT. The Front Display is secured by coring Gorilla glass victus. There might extremely well be a benefit to that sentiment, particularly from the F4 GT's perspective - they can be prettier than useful. The locks have red dots to provide a visual sensation when the user switches are deployed, though it's more of a design say than a useful touch - after all, the switches disappear right into the frame when they're disengaged. With the locks for the shoulder buttons and the buttons themselves, the perfect side of the phone is currently quite busy with controls. Nevertheless, there's one more one here as well - the power button/fingerprint reader combination. It's similarly quick and also hassle-free to open with either figure also. There's a choice in setups to work around that issue by needing a click the button for the fingerprint acknowledgment to involve, and we would certainly opt for that. The Poco F4 GT has an outstanding vibration motor. It's a large X-axis device and likewise provides perfectly nuanced haptics. Returning to buttons, there's the amount rocker on the phone's left, just above the middle. It's notched just slightly between the typical styling element throughout the phone's design. There's a mic pinhole beside the volume rocker - a most unusual positioning, though one that makes good sense in the context of the Poco. The thinking is that you'll be waiting with both hands in landscape and likewise perhaps obstructing the different other 2 mics, while this location will stay unhampered. SIM & IP RATING Also on this side of the mobile phone is the SIM slot, high up near the top. A back-to-back double nano-SIM tray fits within. However, there's no alternative for storage space growth. There's a red gasket lining the tray, so some steps have been needed to guarantee dirt, along with water, stay out of the Poco, but there's no official IP ranking. There are speaker openings, both top and bottom, and the double slots also stick to the same design style. Mics on each end of the phone, along with the leading likewise homes an IR gun, while the bottom homes the USB-C port. There's no earphone jack, though the packed dongle is the next finest thing.
The primarily frozen glass panel is divided in two by a glossy strip in the center and two arrows intending internally also have a slightly different finish. We're getting a 'moving doors in a spaceship' atmosphere. Further in, in addition to the arrows, there are slim RGB LED strips that can brighten in different colors to reveal notifications, calls, or battery/charging status. Fantastic. Outside the camera island, there's the dual LED flash, it's intermediary formed like lightning - an additional excellent touch. POCO F4 GT SCREEN The Poco F4 GT has a Good display for providing a far more beautiful versatile refresh cost and QHD resolution. The 6.67-inch OLED has a 1080x2400px resolution in a 20:9 aspect (395ppi pixel density), renews at approximately 120Hz with a 480Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10+. What else can you request at this expense point? It does quite well regarding brightness too. It might push even more nits in HDR applications, the phone does sustain HDR, and YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video all send out HDR streams at 1080p when it comes to Netflix and Prime Video. Color entertainment is run in the conventional (excessively) feature-rich way. Xiaomi likes to utilize higher-end styles. You acquire 3 right away used pre-programmed settings (Vibrant, Saturated, Original color), with a shade wheel, noted below, for tweaking the temperature level on top of 3 production facilities presets (Default, Cozy, Trendy). Then there's an Advanced settings submenu where you have two more presets (P3, along with sRGB), RGB sliders, and sliders for tone, saturation, value, contrast, and gamma. The Customized setting, where you can select 60Hz or 120Hz. Correctly, Default and Custom-made 120Hz do the extremely same point along with dealing you 120Hz when you're engaging with the phone, which drops to 60Hz after you stop touching it for a variety of seconds. Exceptions consist of video clip playback-related applications (whether streaming or regional) which get locked at 60Hz, as do Google Maps and the electronic cam application. Games that support a high frame price are handled to 120Hz, as they must be. MIUI USER INTERFACE  The F4 GT is the very first Poco we acquired that runs MIUI 13 on top of Android 12 - both newest ones did have MIUI 13 yet were still on the previous version. As usual in the MIUI camp, it's the tailored overlay's variation that issues higher than the primary OS, but there are still a couple of new things. Super Android 12 attributes like the redesigned widgets user interface and individual privacy control panel stay absent. With the pop-up triggers, You likewise get the choice of faster ways to the triggers for things like introducing the cam or flashlight. Each trigger can be developed independently, and prolonged and double press actions can be identified. The other attribute that sets the F4 GT in addition to your ordinary phone is the RGB LED lighting inside the camera on the back. The strips can notify you of incoming telephone calls and pulse for notices. However, that's not the case - it's one shade for all information and another for a phone conversation. The rest of the interface is a typical MIUI with minor Poco twists. There's Always-on display screen efficiency, and it's the full variation. Some Pocos in the past permitted the first option. Naturally, there is a good deal of AOD you can choose from, in addition to numerous of those that can also be customized. Although the F4 GT has LEDs on the back, it still supports the Alert result. It illuminates the edges of the screen when brand-new notices are available. Yet, there's little in the modification technique aside from a couple of different shades and a 'Starlight' choice. You open the screen through the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. MIUI The viewers are extremely simple to utilize and blazing-fast, and the accuracy are outstanding. A 2D Face Unlock is used, too; however it is much less safe than the fingerprint choice.
The application drawer itself corresponds, though - by default, it immediately organizes your apps right into classifications, which you can modify or disable completely. The choice for a regular-looking job switcher with side-scrollable cards is not offered on the Poco launcher. Designs have constantly been a huge part of MIUI, and they are offered on MIUI 13, too - on the Poco construct. You can download new ones from the Themes store, and they can change wallpapers, ringtones, system icons, and even the always-on display screen style. Super Wallpapers are also offered. MIUI includes its special multimedia applications - Gallery, Music, and Mi Video. An MIUI Documents supervisor is likewise on board. And likewise, a Mi Remote application that uses the incorporated IR gun. MIUI similarly supplies a Defense app. It can scan your phone for malware, handle or restrict your information use, set up battery actions, and optimize some RAM. It can in addition, take care of the permissions of your set-up apps, define the battery practices of chosen applications, along with apply limitations just to particular applications. As well as speaking of memory, MIUI 13 uses a Memory Extension option that's active by default (you can disable it if you like). SOFTWARE & PERFORMANCE The F4 GT is geared up with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 - Qualcomm's present most powerful chipset, which is among the phone's vital marketing points and the columns of its 'Peak of power' tagline. 2 memory and likewise storage configurations are provided - the base version is 8GB/128GB, That's LPDDR5 RAM as well as UFS 3.1 storage area, so whatever is exceptional. The F4 GT still dropped to 64% of its peak efficiency in the CPU strangling test, with a short-term dip to under 60%. That's an essentially typical efficiency with front-runner chipsets and should not usually be a problem. POCO F4 GT CAMERA 3 cameras on the back, 20MP selfies. The Poco F4 GT is no webcam professional; however still has a decently-specced arrangement. The triad of electronic cameras is headlined by a 64MP primary device, joined by an 8MP ultrawide, and likewise, there's a standard 2MP macro webcam. MAIN CAMERA The primary Camera uses the IMX686 noticing unit from Sony - a 1/1.7" imager with 0.8 µm pixels and a Quad Bayer color filter range that outputs 16MP images using 4-to-1 binning. Combined with it is a lens with an f/1.9 aperture. The ultrawide camera is based upon the OmniVision OV08856 sensor - a modest 8MP gadget with 1.12 µm pixels and a 1/4" optical style. The field of view needs to cover around 120 degrees according to press products, in addition to an emphasis, which is repaired, so it can't be utilized for close-ups (well, not sharp ones, at the minimum). There's the 2MP macro shooter, though we're not anticipating a good deal. POCO F4 GT SELFIE CAMERA On the front, you're obtaining a 20MP Sony IMX596 sensor, which the web doesn't reveal much about. Our wild guess is that it's a 1/2.8" Quad Bayer style. The lens aperture is f/2.2, and the focus on this is also repaired. At the near end, you have the webcam zoom switch that runs in several numerous styles. The preliminary one is merely discussing the 3 dots that represent the ultra-wide, key, and likewise 2x electronic options. Or you can touch on the active zoom and select among several pre-programmed levels or utilize the slider for intermediate magnifications. That preset/slider combination likewise appears if you press and hold on to among the dots for the non-active zoom level. The 20MP selfies out of the Poco F4 GT are a mix of excessive resolution and also not rather enough information for that resolution, however, ultimately, they're quite strong. Circling back to detail, these would have been exceptional 10MP shots, while at 20MP, there's some gentleness and significant developing to be observed at the pore degree. This is not how selfies are best observed, undoubtedly.
VIDEO  The Poco F4 GT documents video clip as much as 4K 60 with its major camera, while the ultrawide is covered at 1080p at 30fps. You get always-on support in all settings and the alternative to using the h. 265 codec for inscribing. The 4K video from the primary cam looks a notch except excellent. That assessment may differ depending on whether you enjoy its excessively meaningful discussion of color. Likewise, comparison - we'd declare that saturation and contrast are a bit much, but if you like them this way, there's hardly anything incorrect with these clips. Info abounds if overprocessed, and there's no noise to point out. The small reduction in information in the 60fps catch compared to 30fps is of little value. SOUND  The F4 GT has a stereo audio speaker system with 4 genuine audio speakers - a 'woofer' and a tweeter at each end of the phone. The audio speakers fire out of the top and bottom of the phone and are placed in such a way as to prevent your hands from covering them when you're waiting in the landscape with the shoulder buttons ahead. POCO F4 GT BATTERY A 4,700 mAh battery powers the Poco F4 GT split right into 2 cells; each has its billing wiring. The Poco is doing an ideal task. Charging rate. It might not be the longest lasting, yet the Poco F4 GT sure is amongst the fastest to charge. Loaded with it is Xiaomi's fastest battery charger, the 120W device we have seen a few times currently - with appropriate flagships and higher-end Redis. Journalism products guarantee that a complete charge will take 17 mins - their screening treatment is with the phone off and beginning at 2%. For one, you require to enable the Boost mode in the battery settings (it's off out of the package) to get the fastest charging - without it, you would be having a look at 20-ish mins. Another footnote is that there's a difference between the 100% number in the battery indicator and the state in which the phone reports a 'complete' expense, in addition to 5 minutes with Boost enabled and 8 minutes with the attribute switched off. Typically, the ambient temperature level will also impact the charging speed. OUR OPINION Pc video gaming chops in a grown-up-friendly outfit feel like a strange crossover. However, that's the ambiance from the Poco F4 GT. The current Snapdragon register with a set of snappy-clicky shoulder activates ensures that the mobile can stand its ground versus the ROGs of the world. The user side is likewise well cared for by an outstanding screen and big-sounding speakers. Battery life might be middle of the roadway, in addition to the electronic video camera system is rarely impressive. Yet, neither is strictly unfavorable regarding being a dealbreaker, and it's not like rivals develop an especially high bar in either regard.

[MY SWEET JOURNEY III — WITH EVAN]
The late summer breeze carried some heat as the beautiful afternoon sunlight shone brightly on the land.
Standing next to the French windows of the workshop, what entered my vision were verdant mountains.
[MC]: Evan.
I turned my head. In this moment, Evan was sitting on a small couch and the coffee I brewed was already empty.
The page of a book turned again as he only hummed out an upraised “Mm” from his throat.
Thus, I quietly went up to him to sit down right against him. However, although Evan didn’t raise his eyes, his hands paused slightly, and so I sat down on his thigh instead.
[MC]: The Canterbury Tales... Do you really like this book?
E: Its structure is very interesting. You can immerse yourself in it immediately even after flipping it open once in a while.
Evan closed his book and tightened the arm he had around my waist a little.
E: Finished your business?
[MC]: Mhm, just now I altered the study’s blueprints again.
[MC]: As for the arrangements here, I suddenly have a new idea.
Evan raised his eyebrow slightly and propped his chin on his hand with interest.
E: Perfect, I also have a premature proposal.
Our eyes met and we drew in the smile of tacit understanding in each other’s eyes.
[MC]: Looks like we’ve thought of the same thing again.
E: Indeed, that seems to be the case.
Evan’s gaze drifted to the window sill and stopped on a quiet corner.
E: My guess is that you wish to place a multi-functional bookcase here, correct?
[MC]: That’s right! No matter how you think of it, having a large bookcase is a blessing.
[MC]: Moreover, according to our current frequency of buying books, our small book rack is about to be filled soon.
E: Mm, bookcases have more storage, and it’ll also be easier to find books when they’re arranged by category.
[MC]: I was thinking this too. Your novels can be placed at the very top and my design reference books can be placed at the very bottom.
Evan rubbed his chin gently against the top of my head.
E: It’s just our books being placed together, but from a certain perspective it also counts as a further step in sharing a private space.
[MC]: Yeah! You can also place the things you often use here.
[MC]: Only a table placed full of things feels like it has life.
It was just a workshop, but because of Evan’s participation it was overgrown with many notions related to a home.
So, no matter how small the project, they all seemed to have an unusual warmth.
E: What are you smiling about?
I looked up and took back the uncontrollable rise of the corners of my mouth.
[MC]: It’s nothing, I just feel that you’re a little different from usual.
[MC]: Right now you look very... domestic?
E: Domestic?
[MC]: Mhm, because whether it’s the arrangement of furniture or the use of space, you seem to be in your element.
When he heard this, Evan also smiled softly and pressed his forehead to mine, letting the strands of my hair that trailed down brush over his ears.
E: Maybe I’m not in my element.
E: It’s only because you’re here, so I’m especially invested.
Tumblr media
The custom wooden bookcase was quickly settled in the corner.
[MC]: Its size is perfect and its color also looks nice. Fortunately, you were there when I was struggling over which one to choose.
E: As long as you like it.
Evan came to my side and placed thick hardback books into the bookcase, one by one.
[MC]: I’ll help too.
[MC]: Heehee, Operation: Fill Bookcase starts now!
Even though I had prepared myself, I still underestimated the weight of the book and overestimated the height of the bookcase.
The step stool wasn’t very stable and when I rose slightly onto my toes, I suddenly lost balance and tipped over together with the book.
E: Careful—
Nearly without any time to react, a pair of large hands promptly caught my body that staggered backward.
E: Are you alright?
I unconsciously held onto Evan’s neck and released a long breath of relief before I felt lingering palpitations.
[MC]: I’m alright... Fortunately, I didn’t drop the book on the ground.
Evan burst into laughter and slowly set me down.
E: You’re that concerned about the book?
Evan supported both of his hands on the edges of the bookcase and bent down, touching the tip of his nose to mine.
E: Right now, there should be something more important than these books.
This sentence was spoken very slowly and the breath that caressed me brushed back the strands of hair that were beside my ear.
[MC]: But we haven’t organized everything yet...
Evan slipped the book out of my hand and easily placed it inside the empty shelf above my head.
His nose slid down, following the line of my cheek, and stopped above my neck where he placed a light kiss.
E: Operation: Fill Bookcase may need to pause first for now, wouldn’t you say?
Raising my head a little, I crashed into his gentle gaze.
And so I could clearly see that figure which was trapped between him and the bookcase shrink without stop until it disappeared inside a warm breath.

Badeea 🤝 Carewyn
requested by Anon
Badeea Ali wasn’t the easiest person to befriend. It wasn’t that she wasn’t amiable, of course not -- it was simply that she was so easily contented with setting up her easel and painting by herself that she really didn’t see much need to socializing and pursuing activities and environments where she’d be around other people. Her off-beat, creative personality also sometimes made Badeea a bit more cerebral and dreamier than her more down-to-earth classmates.
Fortunately for Carewyn Cromwell, she was a Slytherin and her two closest family members were Ravenclaws, so she wasn’t afraid of either thinking or dreaming.
“May I watch you work?” asked Carewyn, when she came up behind Badeea.
“Of course,” said Badeea without turning around, her lips curled up in a small smile.
She always said yes to Carewyn, whenever she asked, yet she still kept asking anyway -- out of politeness, Badeea supposed, but she found it rather endearing. Carewyn had always been so sensitive to everyone else’s feelings.
Carewyn settled herself down on the edge of the courtyard fountain and watched Badeea add some blue and violet to the black and white squares on her easel.
“It’s a chessboard, isn’t it?” the Slytherin Prefect asked, after a moment.
Badeea’s eyes brightened as she looked over her shoulder at Carewyn. “Yes! I was inspired after playing a match with Tulip, to try to look at the chessboard from a different perspective.”
“The Chess Team’s getting ready for a competition, isn’t it?” asked Carewyn. “I heard Rowan mention something about it...”
“Yes -- Beauxbatons will be participating too,” said Badeea. “McNully is dearly looking forward to competing against Celine Castillon. She’s supposed to be the best student Wizard’s Chess player in the world.”
Carewyn grinned. “Well, if anyone can win against her, it’s McNully.”
“Yes, he is quite a talented player,” said Badeea, “however much he and Tulip don’t see eye to eye. I am glad that they can play the game so differently, though, and still succeed in their own way. It makes me more certain that I can improve, knowing that McNully’s way is not the only way.”
“I’m sure you can, Badeea,” Carewyn said encouragingly. “Rowan’s said you’ve improved a lot, since you started.”
Badeea beamed.
“I’ve been trying to see my chessboard more like my easel,” she said, gesturing to her incomplete artwork, “with my chess pieces like splashes of paint I’m applying across the board. Each color I dab in only helps form the tapestry I want to create.”
“And every color your opponent adds is something you’ll have to factor into your finished design,” Carewyn presumed.
“Exactly.”
Carewyn beamed too as she regarded Badeea’s unfinished painting.
“It’s really lovely, Badeea,” she said kindly. “It looks like something out of Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland.”
“Oh, I love that book,” Badeea said eagerly. “Through the Looking Glass, even more so.”
“Oh, right,” Carewyn recalled, “that one’s an entire metaphor for a chess game.”
“Yes,” Badeea said dreamily. “I wonder if one’s whole life could be a metaphor for a chess game.”
“I hope not,” Carewyn replied. “I’d prefer to have more paths in life than just what my role dictates.”
“Then perhaps your life is more a metaphor for checkers.”
“Or Gobstones. I certainly end up dodging messes more than I would like.”
Badeea laughed as she turned back to her easel again.
“...I should reread Through the Looking Glass,” the artist said, after a moment’s thought. “I have been feeling very much like Alice lately.”
“A pawn amongst Queens and Knights?” asked Carewyn.
“Very much so,” agreed Badeea.
"Mm...I know it’s a bit intimidating, playing with people who are so much more experienced than you.” Carewyn offered her a smile. “But I’m sure you’ll become a Queen yourself sooner or later, just like Alice did, if you keep improving yourself.”
Badeea’s black eyes sparkled a bit when she smiled. “That’s sweet of you to say, Carewyn.”
She turned back to her painting, mixing the white and violet shades on her palette to create a rather pretty lavender.
“I want to evoke kind of a surreal feel,” she said, “something strange and new, with no logic at all -- but nothing sinister...more fantastical. Do you know any songs, for that?”
Carewyn beamed. “Sure.”
She leaned her hands behind her on the edge of the fountain and gave her friend some musical accompaniment.
“Picture yourself in a boat on a river With tangerine trees and marmalade skies... Somebody calls you -- you answer quite slowly -- A girl with kaleidoscope eyes...
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green Towering over your head... Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes, And she's gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds... Lucy in the sky with diamonds... Lucy in the sky with diamonds... Ah...”
Badeea smiled contentedly as she continued to paint, Carewyn’s song the perfect accompaniment for what she had in mind.

You stare at him from across the room, drunkenly admiring his lopsided smile when he laughs. He turns his head and catches your gaze, and you turn away, now looking up at the ceiling as you listen to the loud music around you.
Mingyu’s parties are typically known to be the one that everyone on campus wants to go to. However, you can only come if you’re invited. Lucky for you, you’re best friends with the thirteen heartthrobs of Seoul University. Typically you’d be hanging out with your boyfriend right now, probably watching him play beer pong or playing one of those typical party games.
But you’re lying alone on the couch as everyone around you dances, quite tipsy, borderline drunk. You broke up with your boyfriend of three months the weekend before. You realized you couldn’t stay with him when your heart belonged to someone else, it wouldn’t be fair to him. He was surprisingly alright with it though, even patting your head and telling you it’s okay when you started crying at the fact that you’re a horrible person for hurting him.
“It’s okay yn, I knew.”
He even told you to go for it, assuming a while back that the guy you loved had feelings for you as well. Yet here you are. Laying on the couch by yourself, tipsy, in love, and alone with your thoughts as you stare up at the ceiling.
“God. This is pathetic.” You mutter to yourself, watching the colorful lights dance and hearing the sound of cheers around you. A certain laugh catches your attention, and you slowly turn your head to see Minghao laughing at something the girl he brought to the party said. Now pouting, you look away from the girl when she begins to cuddle up to him.
You close your eyes, mind fuzzy as you blindly reach for the soju bottle you placed beside the couch. You frown when you grab something that’s definitely not a soju bottle, and you open your eyes to see you holding onto Jun’s leg. He gives you a smile, patting your head when you groan and cover your face with your hands.
“You wanna sleep in Mingyu’s room until Hao can take you home?” You shake your head no, and Jun lets out a small sigh. He nudges you with his knee until you finally look at him with a glare, and he motions for you to sit up. You groan, moving so that you’re no longer laying down on the couch. Jun sits down beside you, taking a sip of his Coke as he takes in your miserable appearance.
“I typically associate you with being a happy drunk, but you look really sad tonight.” You turn your head to look at your friend, and you let out a tired laugh. You look at the other side of the room, finding Minghao and the girl engaged in conversation. His fluffy blonde hair is parted down the middle, emphasizing the soft look in his eyes as he stares at her attentively. He’s wearing an oversized gray shirt, with ripped blue jeans that he designed himself on a whim.
Jun follows your gaze, letting out a sad smile when he finds who you’re staring at. He lifts up his hand and covers your view, and you slowly turn to look at him. The two of you don’t exchange any words, you just rest your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes which allows a tear to fall and drop onto his shirt.
“You know, he really lo-”
“Don’t. I don’t wanna hear anything.” You mumble, just trying to find solace in Jun’s familiar scent that’s now mixed with alcohol. “I just think you should talk to him.”
Your eyes open once you hear the girl’s laugh again, and you glance over to see her basically throwing herself into Minghao’s arms as she laughs. You glare, and before you know it, you’re standing up and stumbling over. Jun’s eyes widen and he follows after you, attempting to put a stop to whatever you’re about to do, but you slap his hand away. You only pause when you’re right in front of Minghao and his date, and he looks up at you with a small smile on his face.
“Hi yn.”
“Yn, let’s go.” Jun mutters, reaching for your hand again and you harshly pull it out of his grasp. You stumble slightly due to your lack of balance, and Minghao immediately stands up to rest his hands on your waist to steady you. You freeze at the contact, looking up into his eyes to see him staring at you already.
“I think you’ve had enough to drink, let’s take you back home.” Minghao tells you, eyes glancing over your red cheeks and glassy eyes. He lets go of your waist, turning to the girl and telling her he has to bring you home.
“Why not just have one of your friends take them? We were having a great time.” She says and you shoot her a glare. Minghao shakes his head, “Yn matters more to me than a great time. I’ll see you around.”
And with that, he grasps your wrist softly and takes you in the direction of the front door. The two of you pass your friends, and they break out into giggles at your obvious drunkenness. It’s when you and Minghao step out of the house and the cold night air hits your skin that you let out a whine.
“I don’t wanna walk.”
“We just need to walk to the mailbox to get to my car and then you won’t have to walk anymore.” Minghao responds, practically dragging you now.
“I don’t wanna.” You say once you’re closer to his car, and he chooses not to respond to you. Continuing to pull you in the direction of the mailbox. You fling your wrist out of his grip, and he turns to you with a confused expression on his face.
“What is it?”
“You’re annoyed that you have to bring me home right?” Minghao rolls his eyes, shaking his head ‘no’ before reaching for your hand again. You take a step back and cross your arms.
“Yes you are.”
“No I’m not. Yn, it’s cold and you’re not even wearing a jacket. Let’s go to my car, mm?” You shake your head, looking up at the stars. Minghao lets out a sigh, taking a few steps closer to you to just pick you up and you stumble away from him.
“Yn.”
“No.”
“Listen, I know you’ve been upset about the breakup but-” He stops when he hears your chuckles, and he raises an eyebrow at you. Your chuckles slowly turn into a laugh, until they turn into tears filling your eyes.
“I’m not upset about the breakup.” You mutter, and Minghao tilts his head to the side in confusion. You look back into his eyes, and his expression softens when he sees the tears in your eyes.
“Then what are you upset about?” You choose to stay silent, and he bites the inside of his cheek before continuing.
“If it’s not the breakup then what is it? I know you were upset about it because you called me crying after it happened, so if you’re not sad about that then what-”
“It’s because I love you.” Minghao freezes, head turning back towards you to find you staring at him with your nose turning more red by the second.
“What?”
“I’ve loved you since we were eighteen. I only dated him in an attempt to get over you, but I knew it was wrong so I ended things with him.” Minghao stares at you with an indecipherable look on his face, and you quickly try to wipe away the tears spilling from your eyes. “I was going to confess to you yesterday, but you were so excited about the date you were able to score with that girl that I couldn’t. Now I’m kinda drunk, really alone, and in a one-sided love with my best friend-”
You’re effectively cut off with a small gasp when Minghao’s hands reach up to softly cup your face. He stares into your eyes, and warmth floods your cheeks. “Say it again.”
You find yourself staring at the hopeful expression on his face, wondering if he’s been wanting this for as long as you have.
“I love you.” You whisper, and Minghao lets out a small smile before his lips crash onto yours, hands resting on both sides of your face as your hand now tightly clutches his shirt. The kiss tastes of salt from your tears with a mix of the strawberry soju you were both drinking. Your heart does a somersault in your chest, finding his kisses to be addicting.
Minghao pulls away and rests his forehead on yours, a smile breaking out onto his face when you look into his eyes. He moves back and presses a kiss to the top of your head, before bending down and throwing you over his shoulder. You let out a small squeal, laughing at your new perspective of the world.
“We’re going to the car now yn, it’s cold and you’re gonna get sick.” You smile, patting his nonexistent butt to the beat of the steps he takes. Minghao unlocks his car, gently placing you into the passenger seat and buckling your seatbelt. You nuzzle into the leather seat, closing your eyes sleepily as you’re now in the sleepy stage of being drunk. You’re half asleep when you fail to notice Minghao starting the car and pulling out of his parking spot.
“Was that kiss a dream?” You ask sleepily, and Minghao lets out a small giggle. “No it wasn’t.”
“Are dating you and I now?”
“Dating is you and I.” You smile in your half-awake state, and he reaches over to turn up the heat in the car for you.
“You’ve loved me back this entire time?” Minghao nods his head, grinning at you trying to keep your eyes open.
“For as long as I can remember.” A sleepy smile forms on your face, making him coo at you. You’re about to ask another question when Minghao shushes you.
“Go to sleep yn, we can talk about everything tomorrow, okay?” You nod your head, letting sleep take over a few minutes after. Minghao turns his head to look at you once he hits a red light, and he smiles softly at how cute you look when you’re asleep. He reaches into the back and grabs his jacket, bringing it to the front and placing it over you as a make-shift blanket.
The light turns green, and Minghao drives through the intersection. He’s still thinking of the kiss the two of you shared, and he lifts a hand up to his lips shyly. He glances over at you, and chuckles at your now open mouth.
“Can’t believe you’ve loved me back this entire time.” Minghao whispers, reminiscing the times he thought his love for you was hopeless. He pats your head softly, before turning back towards the road. Letting day6 play softly in the background.
말로 다 할 수 없어, 이 아름다운 느낌.
can’t express it with words, this beautiful feeling.

TRANSCRIPT BELOW THE CUT
Red Rabbits: The Rolling Stone Interview
Featuring Andrew Minyard, Neil Josten, and the Red Rabbits Team
By Angie Rodner
On a chilly Monday, Neil Josten and Andrew Minyard are standing side by side, looking at something on Andrew’s phone in our New York, Rolling Stone headquarters. The rest of the Red Rabbits team, consisting of Dan Wilds, Seth Gordon, Renee Walker, Robin Cross, Allison Reynolds, and pro Exy legend/honorable mention Matt Boyd, orbit around them. It's an interesting scene to take in, to say the least. No matter what they seem to be talking about, they all defer to the two hosts without any of them seeming to acknowledge it.
I was lucky enough to sit down with all eight of them, and I’m not ashamed to say I’m a fan of the podcast and I’ve followed since Season 1. The story of Andrew and Neil (formerly known as Nathaniel Wesnisnki, the son of the Nathan Wesninski or the Butcher of Baltimore), and the revelation of their connection they’d shared as kids, was better than any true crime podcast I’d ever listened to.
Now, the team takes on what they’ve dubbed ‘The Case of the Newark 9’ for their second season. It’s a case based around the hunt for a man known only as ‘Steven’, who they believe is responsible for a series of kidnappings and murders of young girls in and around the Newark area. They’re joined by Robin Cross, a victim and survivor of Steven’s, who is helping them investigate the case.
I sat down with Robin and the other women of Red Rabbits first.
What’s it been like to work on this podcast together? Was it strange to go from looking for Neil, to having him in the studio, to watching him and Andrew form the relationship they have?
Dan: It was strange, because in all honesty, it wasn’t strange. Does that make sense? None of us knew about the meeting they had as kids, but when Andrew finally told us, everything made a lot more sense. Really, they belong together. It was much weirder when they first got back and hadn’t acknowledged what was between them yet. We were all just kinda like... are y’all not seeing what we’re seeing?
Renee: They got there eventually.
How have things changed from Season 1 to Season 2? The cases are obviously different, but they still involve missing children. What’s the atmosphere like around the studio?
Dan: Tense.
Allison: I’m not even there that often and I can still feel it.
Robin: It is tense, but there’s also a sense of urgency. We know ‘Steven’ has another girl now, so it’s like every day that goes by is another day he has her... Another day we either find him, or we don’t.
Mm... I can’t imagine how difficult that is. However, with that being said, the NYPD have made it pretty clear that they aren’t buying what you guys are selling. How does that make you feel?
Robin: I don’t feel anything about the NYPD. My anger is better placed elsewhere. I am angry. But the police didn’t listen to me when I was a kid and trying to tell them important information. Why would they listen to me now?
Renee: I think we all try and take our cues from Robin. Andrew and Neil are very careful to include her and get her opinion on certain things before moving forward. We’re not letting this thing with the NYPD deter us.
Speaking of Robin then, what’s it like for you to have her on the team? As one of Steven’s victims that is, there with you in the studio?
Robin: Oh no. Say nice things about me.
Dan: Girl. [ laughs ] Honestly, she’s amazing. She’s my little sister and I’m not just saying that. I think we all kind of feel that way. I’ve never known a person as strong and determined as she is and I know - see she’s blushing! [ laughs again ]- I know she hates it when we talk about her like this, but it’s so true. She’s family now.
Renee: She is, and I think she brings a really unique perspective to the case. We have someone here who’s directly involved, who lived through it and can give us some idea of what the other girls went through. I think most people would really love to have that kind of resource during an investigation.
Allison: For sure. She’s even my muse for my fall line. Everything is going to be deep colors and fun modesty.
Seems like you’ve been properly inducted into the team, Robin.
Robin: [ smiling ] It feels amazing...
Now, last question. Are you confident you’ll find what you’re looking for?
All as one: Yes.
Speaking with the ladies was fun. They were easy and connected and you can tell that there was a real sisterhood in the studio that day. It was refreshing to see women supporting and helping each other thrive in such a competitive industry. There was a lot of laughter between them, and it was such a joy to be able to share it with them.
-
My next interviewees were Seth Gordon, ‘resident TFN sound engineer/IT guy/anything to do with technology’, as he tells it, and New York Lynxes starting backliner, Matt Boyd. When I tell you I laughed throughout this entire interview, I’m being completely sincere. There was something about the way the two bounced off each other that had me smiling and understanding why they are both so well-liked.
You guys are best friends aren’t you? I feel a bromance in this Chilli’s tonight.
Seth: Bet. Matt Boyd is my homie and BFFL. Do people still say that? Anyway, we have matching necklaces and everything.
Do you really?
Matt: No, not really, but I’d totally wear one if he gave it to me.
[ laughing ] Matt, how did you even end up here? I know you were friends with Neil, but I feel like the details on that are kind of murky.
Matt: I hit him with my truck. [ My jaw dropped ] No, really! I hit him with my truck in Midtown Manhattan when I was driving home. He refused to go to the hospital so I brought him back to my place to make sure he was okay. He didn’t leave after that.
Seth: Because you held him hostage? That’s the way I hear it.
Matt: Oh yeah, for sure. He takes up so little space, why not? [ laughs again ] No really, I did convince him to stay, but I just felt like he needed a friend. He was obviously running from something and he was scared. I just didn’t know from what or why at the time.
And when you found out?
Matt: Honestly? I just about shit myself, but it made so much sense. All the little questions I asked myself early on, finally had answers.
I saw the interview you and Dan did with Essence. You guys look amazing together.
Seth: They are amazing together. It’s gross.
Matt: Yeah, and you and Dion aren’t constantly fawning all over each other.
Is that Dion hovering nearby?
Seth: Yep, that’s my man. He’s amazing and fuckin’ fine as hell. Can I say fuck in this interview?
Sure.
Seth: He’s fuckin’ fine.
Seth, what’s it been like for you, putting together the shows? There’s been a lot of audio that’s hard for us as listeners to hear, and I’m sure there’s more we haven’t even heard.
Seth: There is.
What’s that like for you to have to go through it all?
Seth: Really hard sometimes. There was some stuff in Season 1 we didn’t air that seriously gave me nightmares. It’s worth it, though. We found Neil and I think we’ll find Steven.
Are both of you confident in that fact?
Seth: Positive.
Matt: I think if anyone can find him, it’s Andrew and Neil. They’re determined and they’ll keep looking no matter what.
I believe them.
Andrew and Neil were my last interview of the day, and a more determined pair I think I’ve ever met.
Here’s the thing readers: They’re connected. It might make me a poor journalist, but I don’t know how else to explain it. At one point during the interview, Neil reached over to squeeze Andrew’s arm. At another point, Andrew reached over to squeeze the back of Neil’s neck. They were obviously a comfort to and for each other, and it almost seemed like they borrowed strength. It was intense and being able to witness it has been one of my favorite moments in my career.
So, let’s talk about this season before we get into everything else. You’re looking for a man you believe to be responsible for the disappearances of multiple girls in the Newark area. Do you feel like you’re any closer to solving the mystery than you were at the beginning?
Neil: Absolutely. We’ve gotten some really great tips and we think we’ve narrowed some things down. We don’t want to get too deep into what we’ve got at the moment, because we’re still investigating. But we’re confident in what we have.
What’s it been like working with Robin? I was able to interview her earlier, and she’s really something.
Andrew: She’s been the best resource we have. She’s incredibly strong and unbelievably quick. She’s taken this terrible thing that happened to her and turned it into fire, and it’s been amazing to watch. Most of the information we have comes from her.
The interview you guys did with her was absolutely chilling. I cried three times listening to it. How do you handle hearing these things? I feel like it’d be really hard not to take it home with you.
Neil: Yeah. It’s hard sometimes.
Andrew, I want to touch on the interview Riko Moriyama just did with Kathy Ferdinand and your response. What was that like for you, hearing Riko wrongfully expose something like that on live television?
Andrew: It was… I was stunned, I guess. That information was supposed to be sealed. My name was redacted. So I have no idea how he even got details of the case.
You’ve talked before about being in the foster care system. It sounds like you had a pretty rocky childhood.
Andrew: Yes.
Neil, I know yours was no picnic either. Do you think that this kind of... shared trauma, I guess, is part of why you two work so well together?
Neil: Yeah, partly. When we met as kids, I think a bond was cemented. We both knew how horrible adults could be to children. But now that we’re older, I think more than a shared trauma, it’s a mutual respect for that trauma. We both have shit, you know? I told Matt this one time and I didn’t really understand how true it was until recently, but we both have baggage that we share. We take each other’s on to lighten the load for the other. But, there are times when it gets really fucking heavy, and I think recently we’ve figured out that it’s better to lean on each other when that happens, instead of trying to carry it all ourselves.
Why do you think Riko felt the need to call you two out like he did? I know he mentioned Neil possibly being manipulated into the relationship.
Neil: [laughs]
Andrew: I wish I could manipulate him into having better taste in music.
Neil: My taste in music is fine.
Andrew: It is absolutely not. And I don’t know why Riko feels the need to comment. I’d be interested to hear the reason. The things he said regarding Neil were ridiculous, and in his response, Neil has made sure to make that known. But the thing that really bothered me was his comments on mental health. He tried to basically call me unstable for seeking therapy and admitting that there came a point when I needed outside help. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people in this country who seek out therapy every year. There’s no shame in it and I’m unsure as to why Riko believes there is. Honestly, I’m shocked the Moriyamas haven’t released a statement. He’s their mouthpiece, after all.
Do you think they should apologize?
Neil: Yes.
Andrew: I think they should at least clarify. I’ve already heard people are planning to protest their new documentary and I don’t blame them. I wouldn’t want to give my money to people who think I’m less of a person because I struggle sometimes.
Speaking of struggle, let’s move back to the case. I know the NYPD has been giving you grief over your claims that the person you’re looking for is the same person that’s taken Haylie Clark. Robin, especially, seems completely certain. How does it feel to know law enforcement doesn’t have your back on this?
Andrew: Familiar. They’ve never had my back before, so why would they start now?
Neil: I’ve dealt with too many crooked cops to really take it seriously. I have no idea what their motivations are and to be clear, I’m not saying I think they’re crooked - I’m just saying that in my experience, the help doesn’t always come like it’s supposed to.
The rest of the team seems pretty confident in you two. They all said they absolutely believe you’ll be able to find him. Is it hard sometimes, not to lose faith?
Andrew: It’s hard all the time. But it doesn’t matter. We have to keep moving forward. We aren’t going to stop until he and Haylie are found.
I think that’s really commendable and I look forward to seeing that happen. Now, tell me a bit about the team. Neil, since you came in at the end of Season 1, how did you find the dynamic as an outsider?
Neil: I didn’t really understand it in the beginning. Not really. It helped having Matt at my back for months prior, but I’ve never had the opportunity to make solid connections with people. So when I came into the studio, to this group of people who had known each other since college, it was overwhelming.
Andrew: That’s funny, seeing as how they like you better than me.
Neil: It’s all the charm and charisma.
[ laughing ] And now? You all seem really tight knit.
Neil: Now, yeah. We are. These people are my family.
Andrew?
Andrew: Yes?
Neil: She wants you to say something nice about the team.
Andrew: Every single one of them knows my coffee order, and it’s truly amazing that they can do what the interns cannot. [ he looks over at Neil, who’s tilting his head and raising his brows ] Oh, don’t look at me like that. Fine. We have a really strong team. I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing without them. Seth works harder than anyone I know, Dan keeps us all in line with just a look, Renee is the only reason I agreed to do this in the first place, Reynolds has a lot of money and she’s not afraid to use it for a cause she believes in, and Robin is the most inspiring person I’ve ever met.
And Matt?
Andrew: Who?
Neil: The guy that kept me alive for months while you were hunting me.
Andrew: [ rolls his eyes and shrugs ] He’s fine.
-
My take away from the interviews was this: these people will do whatever they need, in order to find their perpetrator. They believe in their cause, they hurt for these girls, and they’ll find justice for them in the end. They’re family, that much is clear, and I can’t wait to see how this ends. I can’t wait to say that I was there when it’s over.

"and liked the stage lineup enough for the game to stand out from that bland mass of mid-tier Mega Man games" well, this is an interesting take, would you elaborate? :P
Disclaimer: since we're talking Mega Man game rankings, I should clarify that I am a massive Mega Man 6 fanboy. MM2 is great and I love it a lot, but I think 6 stands right next to it as peak Mega Man, top tier game all around. My bias will show up here.
Do you know what I think when I hear names like Mega Man 4, 5 and 10? Mid-tier. Games that do their thing fine, not exceptionally well, not bad in any major way, and end up feeling part of the same mass. Mega Man stages are colorful, challenging and the music is unique, yet that doesn't always help a game stand out from its siblings.
The only reason I used to boot up MM4 after first playing it a decade ago was because I had save states set up in the emulator for four specific moments: pre-Cossack, Cossack Stage 3, Cossack Stage 4 and the Wily Machine. Out of the entire game, only Cossack's stages and Wily Capsule are what I actively wanted to replay, and one of those stages is an autoscroll of all things, lol.
Mega Man 5? Not a single robot master stage I care for. A save state ready somewhere before going to Wily's Fortress and only because 1) I love that theme and 2) I hate myself enough to retry that one fucking spike jump.
Mega Man 10? One and done, although I'm forever in love with what they did to the first Wily Stage music-wise. Everything else? It's that mass of mid-tier, but I must admit my perspective might be influenced, not by 6, but by the big kick in the nuts (affectionate) that was 9 to me.
Heck, even Mega Man 3 gets pretty damn bland during the mid-to-late game. There's a void in my mind that takes place after I listen to that beautiful opening, pick Snake Man or Top Man as first stage and until those awful Doc Robot revisits are over and I can move on to the wonderful Wily Stages.
When I brought up that comparison to Mega Man 8, I was thinking to myself how would I rank the game personally, since it's a pretty polarizing title. I think it's more memorable than the mid-tier field, that doesn't make it any less flawed or anything, but it's enough for me to say "hey, this game might be a sleeper banger for you" :P
(Ah, and in case you were wondering, I think 7 clears the mid-tier field with some pretty cool stages - I'm a big Shade Man fan, the intro of that stage alone gets me every time <3, 11 clears it too mostly thanks to new possibilities both player-wise and level design-wise with the double gear system, 9 is almost top tier, 1 is just too rough and primitive for me to honestly enjoy, and MM&Bass... no thanks.)

Where Is the Friend's House? خانه دوست کجاست / Khane-ye doust kodjast?
Blu-ray Review A bold voice in world cinema transports audiences to Koker Reviewed by Neil Lumbard, September 9, 2019
Transporting viewers directly into the world and location inhabited by the people of Koker, Where Is the Friends House? explores the ordinary life lived by the young Ahmed (Babek Ahmed Poor) and his unique journey taken. Having taken the papers of one of his classmates on accident, Ahmed has to try to return the schoolwork to his friend and the film focuses on his attempt to bring the schoolwork back. Traveling across the barren landscape of Koker, the audience witnesses his expedition to save his close friend from expulsion from school.
Unlike a true narrative-driven feature, the film is predominately focused on being character-driven with a unique stylistic approach. The film has almost no dialogue and often feels like it's a documentary film rather than a narrative effort: Ahmed behaves like an ordinary child would and the performance feels so natural as to not feel like an example of acting at all. This was how Kiarostami viewed working with a young cast of actors as well: one had to recognize that children would often revert to being themselves that it's a unique challenge working with young actors.
Tumblr media
A compelling drama which illustrates youth in Koker
Produced by Ali Reza Zarrin (Close-Up, The Key), Where Is the Friends House? is an invigorating experience. The style of the filmmaking is so distinctive that it feels remarkably unique in the landscape of cinema. The beautiful cinematography by Farhad Saba (Homework, Through the Olive Trees) easily draws one into the world of the filmmaking and manages to feel artistically compelling throughout. The evocative score composed by Amine Allah Hessine accompanies the imagery in a intelligent and empathetic way. The costumes designed by Hassan Zahidi (And Life Goes On) feel authentic and helps the filmmaking feel more realistic.
There is something about Where Is the Friend's House? that feels uniquely compelling. Some of it is the performance by Babek Ahmed Poor and how authentic it feels in the context of the story. On another level, the feature is a prime showcase for the talents of its filmmaker: Abbas Kiarostami (Taste of Cherry, Certified Copy). The artistry is high and there are no throw-away shots. The film feels as if it is carefully constructed from start to end (which is the surest sign of a great director). There is magic to be found in movies when they can speak to audiences about something so universal as the experiences of youth while taking viewers on a journey across cultures and borders. Where Is the Friends House? pulled me in and left me mesmerized.
Tumblr media
The Criterion Collection presents Where Is the Friends House? with a 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high definition presentation in the original 1.66:1 widescreen aspect ratio. This is a brand new 2K restoration. What a wonderful joy it is to see such labor of love for film preservation. This is an altogether stunning presentation of the film which has clear detail throughout. A naturally filmic presentation with excellent color reproduction and detail that helps to bring the quiet moments of the film to life.
From Criterion: "Where Is the Friend's House? and And Life Goes On were created in 2K resolution on an ARRISCAN film scanner from the 35 mm original camera negatives at L'Image Retrouvee in Paris."
Tumblr media
Where Is the Friends House? is presented in the original Persian language with English subtitles. This is a lossless uncompressed PCM mono soundtrack. The film featured sound recording by Jahangir Mirshekari. The Criterion audio restoration came from the 35 mm soundtrack negatives. As noted in the booklet: "Clicks, thumps, hiss, hum, and crackle were manually removed using Pro Tools HD and iZotope RX." It's clear that a lot of effort was placed in preserving and restoring the audio.
Unfortunately, the film itself simply lacks a very compelling audio track from a sonic perspective. It sounds altogether harsh and uninviting. Criterion tends to be the best in the industry when it comes to preservation and I feel the harshness of the track is clearly source-related (and not a fault of the label). It's a listenable audio track (and to Criterion's credit they even used 24 bit depth for the encode) but the recording is never crystal clear at any point in the presentation. The audio simply sounds thin and it can seem a little underwhelming.
Tumblr media
Where Is the Friend's House? Blu-ray, Special Features and Extras
It's worth noting that the booklet included with the trilogy release is housed inside of the packaging for Where Is the Friends House? The contents contain information on the restoration from Criterion and a essay about the films by author Cheshire. The 32 page booklet includes photographs and production notes.
On disc supplements on the release include the following:
Homework (HD, 1 Hr. 18 min.) is a 1989 documentary feature from director Kiarostami. The feature was produced by interviewing the students attending the Martyr Masumi Grade School as located in Iran.
This is one of the best supplemental feature inclusions I have ever seen on any release from Criterion. For starters, the film is quite absorbing and engaging. It felt like the type of documentary which could have easily have been included in the collection with its own numeric spine number and place (outside of "supplemental" relegation).
This is an incredibly powerful and haunting documentary. The entire film revolves around the director asking a group of young children about their thoughts on homework: do they enjoy it, how do they approach it, and what do their parents do when they excel or under-perform? Do they prefer doing homework to watching cartoons? The film is haunting. As the film progresses, more and more children discuss how their parents beat and abuse them if they don't do their homework or if their grades are less than stellar. None of the children even have the courage to say they prefer watching cartoons to doing their homework, either. (Perhaps afraid of their punishments by their parents.)
Kiarostami also shows how parents feel they do not need to be involved in their children's homework (showing a survey found they should bear no responsibility on their children's homework or helping them, that it should all fall on teachers). The filmmaking is empathetic and eye-opening while also being clinical and subjective to the material.
Please note that the audio track included on the documentary feature is presented in mono Dolby Digital at 192kbps. This is not a showy audio track with the same degree of clarity as a lossless track (such as what is found on the main feature film). However, given that this is a documentary production, I found the audio quite satisfactory for the film presentation. I had no major complaints and don't think viewers will either.
Abbas Kiarostami (HD, 1 Hr. 8 min.) is an in-depth discussion between the filmmaker behind the Koker Trilogy and film programmer Peter Scarlet following a presentation of Where Is The Friends House? The interview was conducted on stage with translation from Massoumeh Lahidji. Recorded in 2015, the interview is an enlightening interview in which questions are fielded from the audience about the filmmaker and his approach to storytelling. There are both fun and serious questions asked. It felt as though Kiarostami put a lot of thought into his answers. Thoroughly engaging from beginning to end, it is the kind of discussion that helps deepen ones appreciation of the film.
Tumblr media
Where Is the Friend's House? Blu-ray, Overall Score and Recommendation
There is much to appreciate about Where Is the Friends House? As the first feature in Kiarostami's Koker Trilogy, it sets the tone and style of all three films beautifully. The filmmaking style is unique and inspired. The film seems to drift between feeling like a documentary (a true tribute to the talent of its director) and narrative-based storytelling seamlessly. There are distinctive images in the film which feel as if they are individual masterpieces of art which one could frame and hang on a wall. That takes talent and drive that can only be delivered by an auteur director like Kiarostami. This is awe-inspiring cinema.
Even better than the main feature is the exceptional documentary Homework. Included on the disc as a supplemental feature, Homework is so eye-opening and compelling I was surprised Criterion did not deem it as a title to receive its own slot in the collection. I was just as blown away by this documentary as the main film included on this release. A must-see for all Kiarostami fans and a supplemental feature which greatly enhanced my appreciation of the collection.

MM Fluff Week 2020 day 4
Day 4: Accomplishments  ♡  Mysme Friendships
For @mmfluffweek
This one seemed a bit clunky, but IDK, hope you like it anyway!
Yoosung straightened his yellow bowtie yet again and ran fingers through his hair. He went back and forth on whether he should wear his hair clips. In the end, he put them on, after all, Saeran liked them and that’s all that mattered. They were silver with small diamond stars on them. A gift from the twins on his last birthday. Saeran had designed them and helped Saeyoung craft them. If he was honest, they were probably his most prized possession. Taking a deep breath and one final look at himself he nodded and walked out.
This was his only suit, but it had held up well. The sleeves might be a bit small now, he must have grown some, but otherwise fit properly. It was a deep blue that Saeran liked on him, which was a big plus. He was excited and a bit nervous, but he supposed tonight was probably not much different than an RFA party where there would be some wealthy and famous guests. Of course, Yoosung never actually had to mingle with those guests. His duties were more the backstage variety.
He stepped out of his apartment building to a waiting limo. The chauffeur nodded to him as he opened the door.
“Thank you.” Yoosung said.
“My pleasure sir.” The man closed the door as Yoosung settled onto the seat. He’d been in limos before, while accompanying Jumin, but never had one all to himself. It felt silly and wasteful, but Saeran had insisted. It took about fifteen minutes to get to their next destination. The chauffeur once more opened the door, this time to let Saeran in. The man looked stunning, taking Yoosung’s breath away. His red hair was slicked back, his mint colored eyes noticeably not hiding behind the fringe. The black eyeliner was expertly applied, as always, and his studded choker was around his neck. He wore a red Tshirt under a black coat, black jeans and his biker boots. How long since he’d dressed that way? Yoosung had to resist an urge to reach over and ruffle his hair.
Yoosung scooted over to make room for the man next to him, which he took. He turned to him and grinned, green eyes gleaming, but a little terrified as well.
“You look amazing.” He said.
“So do you, I’m glad you decided for this look.” Yoosung admired his boyfriend.
“Uh, yeah…not sure how it will go over though.” Saeran swallowed. Yoosung reached for his hand, it was sweaty.
“Nervous?”
“Shit yeah!” Saeran answered honestly. Yoosung laughed and lay his head on the other man’s shoulder.
“Don’t be, it’s going to be incredible, you’ll see.”
“I…I’m just afraid I’ll let everyone down.”
“You won’t.”
“I wish I could be as confident as you.”
“You don’t have to be, all of us are cheering you on, and even if nobody else likes it, we all love it!” Yoosung turned Searan’s face towards him and kissed him lightly. This was Saeran’s night and he was going to do everything in his power to make it a great one.
Saeran smiled, the tension in his body eased and he reached for the hair clips in Yoosung’s blonde hair. “You wore them.”
“Of course! They’re my lucky charm!” he giggled.
“I’m glad. And grateful for you, being here with me. I can’t imagine having done this by myself without you by my side.”
“You just needed a little push is all.”
“I don’t know. The man I used to be…well…”
“But that wasn’t the real you, it just took you a while to realize who you really are, without all that…uh…”
“It’s OK. I know you’re right. And I know that it will probably be a lifelong journey for me. But I hope you stay by my side.”
“Always.” They exchanged several more kisses before the limo stopped once more. When the door opened, Saeran stepped out into a few lightbulb flashes. He held out his hand for Yoosung, who took it eagerly. There was some media and some onlookers who looked more confused than anything, wondering if they were celebrities of some sort. His amethyst eyes blinked at the crowd, but Saeran only had eyes for him, placing his arm around his waist and leading them inside the art gallery.
The rest of the RFA was already inside, Jaehee and MC in stunning gowns fit for the Oscars. Jumin and Zen both handsome in their tails, Jumin in black, Zen in white, making an ethereal pair. Saeyoung on the other hand, wore a white buttoned long sleeved dress shirt with his regular black and orange hoodie, his hair in it’s usual disarray. Yoosung simply shook his head.
“Little bro! Making the fashionable entrance huh?” Saeyoung hugged him, and the others followed after. Saeran looked a bit awkward and uncomfortable but he handled it well.
“Mr. Choi. I’m so pleased you have arrived, there are several people who have been asking for you. May I take you from your friends?” The woman wore a black cocktail dress, her dark hair in a high tight ponytail, her grey eyes alert and determined.
“Uh…” Saeran stuttered.
“It’s OK, I think we’ll manage.” Yoosung shooed him away. Saeran nodded and let the woman lead him away like a trapped animal.
“He seems to barely be holding on.” Zen laughed sipping from his champagne goblet.
“Give him time, he’ll grow into it. V never much cared for the personal attention either.” Jumin said.
“But V used his charm effectively, I’m not sure Saeran has that same ability.” Jaehee said.
“No, but I think this really has helped him come out of his shell a bit more with other people. Although, I think he enjoys taking photographs because it allows him hide behind the camera.” Yoosung answered.
“Yep, but now he can’t!” Saeyoung laughed. “Can you believe my little brother has his own gallery showing? Not to mention all that social media blowing up over his photos! He’s going to be bigger than V ever was!”
“And I wonder who made that happen.” MC arched her eyebrow at her husband.
“Is it wrong of me to promote my little bro?” Saeyoung asked offended.
“No, but it might be to do it by hacking.” Zen laughed.
“Is that so? Hmm, remind me again, who reblogged onto all his own social media sites?” Saeyoung said.
Zen looked away without answering.
“It was something I never thought I would see, Zen posting something that wasn’t his face or body.” Jumin smirked. Zen slapped his arm but Jumin only laughed and pulled the man close, giving him a peck on the cheek.
“He did take some photos of me as well! I was only trying to help him.” Zen pouted.
“Absolutely my love.” Jumin nodded and went silent.
Yoosung was barely paying any attention as his eyes were on Saeran. In the last few years he’d come leaps and bounds from the man he used to be. There was still that hard shell, but once inside, there was a soft gooey center that was still so very fragile and vulnerable. He cherished the man, the good and the bad, and he was overwhelmingly happy that things were looking up for him. The photos he took were stunning. You couldn’t help but feel something when you saw them. Saeyoung was right, V was incredible, but there was a different perspective to the way Saeran saw the world. The truth of it. That while there was great beauty, there was also great sorrow.
After an hour Saeran finally made his way back to Yoosung.
“Can we go now?” he whispered in desperation.
“No, you promised you’d stay at least until ten.” Yoosung answered.
“What time is it now?”
“Just after nine.”
“Ugh…”
“Come on, why don’t you take me on a tour?”
“You’ve already seen them all.”
“Yes, but, I’d love to hear your perspective on them, you know, explain it to me as if I’ve never seen it before. Besides, it will give you an excuse to stay with me and ignore all these people.” Yoosung grinned.
“True!” Saeran’s eyes lit up. “OK, let’s start over there.” He took Yoosung’s hand and headed towards the center of the gallery. Yoosung didn’t move. “What?”
“I’m so proud of you Saeran.” Yoosung said, eyes glittering with happiness.
Saeran blushed and looked away, but there was a small smile playing around his lips. “You don’t have to say that.” He mumbled.
“I know I don’t have to. I want to. And I am, so very proud. And happy to be here with you. What you’ve done in incredible Saeran. You should be proud of yourself too.”
Saeran sighed and pulled the man closer. Yoosung was sure now, he had definitely grown, he was almost eye to eye with Saeran, if he hadn’t been wearing those biker boots, he might even be taller than the red head now. They embraced and kissed. Flashes exploded around them, but they were oblivious.

State Street, Chicago (No. 1)
The Chicago Theatre, originally known as the Balaban and Katz Chicago Theatre, is a landmark theater located on North State Street in the Loop area of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Built in 1921, the Chicago Theatre was the flagship for the Balaban and Katz (B&K) group of theaters run by A. J. Balaban, his brother Barney Balaban and partner Sam Katz. Along with the other B&K theaters, from 1925 to 1945 the Chicago Theatre was a dominant movie theater enterprise.  Currently, Madison Square Garden, Inc. owns and operates the Chicago Theatre as a performing arts venue for stage plays, magic shows, comedy, speeches, sporting events and popular music concerts.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places June 6, 1979, and was listed as a Chicago Landmark January 28, 1983. The distinctive Chicago Theatre marquee, "an unofficial emblem of the city",  appears frequently in film, television, artwork, and photography.
The structure is seven stories tall and fills nearly one half of a city block. The 60-foot (18 m) wide by six-story tall triumphal arch motif of the State Street façade has been journalistically compared to the l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The central arch-headed window adapts the familiar motif of Borromini's false-perspective window reveals of the top floor of Palazzo Barberini, Rome. The coat of arms of the Balaban and Katz chain—two horses holding ribbons of 35 mm film in their mouths outlined by a border of film reels—is set inside a circular Tiffany stained glass window inside the arch.  The exterior of the building is covered in off-white architectural terracotta supplied by the Northwestern Terra Cotta Company with Neo-Baroque stucco designs by the McNulty Brothers.
At the time of the building's 1978 application for the National Register of Historic Places designation, the venue's marquee had been replaced twice. The original marquee was basic and facilitated two lines of text for announcements. The 1922–23 marquee had ornate "flashing pinwheels, swirls and garlands of colored lights". It also included "milk glass letter attraction boards, and CHICAGO in large letters on three sides". The 1949 replacement was similar to the second marquee, but its attraction boards were larger and the oversized CHICAGO lettering only appeared on the front. Until Balaban and Katz' 1969 sale to the American Broadcasting Company, their name was on the marquee. The entire marquee was replaced in 1994, but retains the look of its predecessor. In 2004, the original marquee was donated to the Smithsonian Institution. The marquee is featured in numerous movies and TV shows set in Chicago, and its neon font was used in the title of the 2002 film Chicago.

The Reliance Building is a skyscraper located at 1 W. Washington Street in the Loop community area of Chicago. The first floor and basement were designed by John Root of the Burnham and Root architectural firm in 1890, with the rest of the building completed by Charles B. Atwood in 1895. It is the first skyscraper to have large plate glass windows make up the majority of its surface area, foreshadowing a design feature that would become dominant in the 20th century
The Reliance Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970; and on January 7, 1976, it was designated a National Historic Landmark.
The Reliance Building is also part of the Loop Retail Historic District, a collection of over one hundred buildings that reflects the growth of State and Wabash Streets as the central retail district of Chicago. The building fell into disrepair starting in the 1940s, and was restored in the late 1990s. Since 1999, the building has housed the 122-room Staypineapple, An Iconic Hotel, The Loop (formerly the Hotel Burnham) and Atwood Cafe.
The addition of the remaining floors in 1894–1895 completed the building and marked the "first comprehensive achievement" of the Chicago construction method.  The building's plate-glass windows are set within the terra-cotta-tiled facade. Its steel-frame superstructure is built atop concrete caissons sunk as much as 125 feet beneath the footing.
The Reliance Building has been called "proto-Modernist" in its lack of the hierarchy found in Classical facades.  Its stacks of projecting bay windows and terra-cotta cladding create an effect of extraordinary lightness. Its steel frame construction is physically light as well, being one-third the weight of an equivalent stone structure. It was a direct precursor of the all-glass Friedrichstrasse skyscraper proposed by Mies van der Rohe in 1921.Richardson's Marshall Field Warehouse, built only eight years earlier, seems in comparison to be heavy, ponderous, and of another era.

Texture & Pattern
Tumblr media
Vincent Van Gogh
Texture Texture refers to the surface quality of an object. Texture is an important component of a successful composition because it appeals to our sense of touch. This is true even when we do not actually touch an object our memories provide the sensory reaction or sensation of what that object might fell like if touched. Texture becomes one more element for us to think about when we look at any composition.
In effect, the various light and dark patterns of different textures are visual clues for us to enjoy the textures vicariously. Of course all objects have some surface quality even if it is only unrelieved smooth flatness. The element of texture is illustrated in art when an artist purposely exploits contrast and surfaces to provide visual interest.
There are two categories of artistic texture - tactile and visual (actual and illusion).

Tactile Texture Tactile texture is texture that can actually be touched. In painting texture describes the uneven paint surface. In graphic design texture can add a sense of reality “realness”. Things that seem more real to life often result in a more emotional response from the viewer, and can in turn be more memorable.
Architecture and sculpture employ actual material and have what is called tactile texture – texture that can actually be felt. In painting the same term describes an uneven paint surface, when an artist uses the paint (a technique called impasto) so that a rough, three dimensional paint surface results.
Consider Vincent van Gogh‘s painting from the top of this lesson. Texture is not just created through the pattern of short brushstrokes, but it is also created through the ridges and phrased edges of the paint strokes that are obvious to the viewers eye. The painting is revealing what it truly is– Paint on surface– Not just an illusion. Same goes for Thiebaud’s painting below:

As we’ve been exploring through this class a traditional idea of a collage is gluing down pieces of colored and textured papers cloth and other materials. Collage moved from a folk art to A fine art in the 20th century. Collage allows us to Play with compositional arrangements more easily by cutting reshaping and altering images and moving them around before pasting them down.
Anne Ryan worked mainly in collages of cloth. Her closet show various bits of cloth and contrasting leaves and textures interspersed with some scraps of printer paper. The light and dark pattern is interesting but her attention is mostly drawn to the contrast of tactile textures. See below:

Texture can also be created through the illusion of texture. By reproducing the color and value of patterns of familiar textures, artists can encourage us to see textures where none actually exist. Visual texture carries the same visual punch as Tactile texture. Visual texture can also be created with photography, used on its own or as a filler for a shape, foreground or background.
In painting artist can create the impression of texture on a flat smooth paint surface. By reproducing the color and value patterns of familiar textures painters can encourage us to see textures where none actually exist. This is called visual texture. The impression of texture is purely visual – an illusion - it cannot be felt or enjoyed by touch. It is only suggested to her eyes. Artists use this as a way to stimulate the composition and move your eye around the surface. Various textures can convincingly be re-created. Visual texture can be an interesting design element even without subject matter or any pictorial reference.

Max Ernst, Surrealist painter
The ultimate point in portraying visual texture is called trompe l’oeil the French term meaning to for the eye. This style is commonly defined as deceptive painting. In trompe l’oeil the objects in sharp focus are delineated with meticulous care. The artist copies the exact visual color and value pattern of each surface. A deception occurs because the appearance of objects is so skillfully reproduce that we are momentarily fooled. We look closer, even though our rational brain identifies the image as a paining and not the actual object.

20th century artistic emphasis has been on abstraction, distortions, and non-objective patterns. But in much art the trompe l’oeil tradition continues And is not limited to painting. Marilyn Levine works in ceramics as seen in “Thom’s Jacket” from 1989 below.  it is incredibly realistic but again it’s made of ceramics and is an illusion.

Texture and Pattern It would be difficult to draw a straight line between texture and pattern. We immediately associate the word pattern with printed fabrics such as plaid, stripes, polkadots and floral patterns. Pattern is usually defined as a repetitive design, with the same motif appearing again and again. texture, too, often repeats, but it’s variations usually do not involve such perfect regularity. The difference in the two terms is admittedly slight. material such as burlap would be identified right readily as a tactile texture. Yet the surface design is repetitive enough that a photograph of burlap could be quite a pattern. Once a visual texture is represented within the confines of a space or shape it often may look flat to our eyes and take on the characteristics of a pattern. The essential distinction between texture and pattern seems to be whether the surface arouses our sense of touch or merely provides designs appealing to the eye. While every texture makes a sort of pattern, not every pattern could be considered a texture.

Pattern is a great way to distinguish between areas of contrast on an image and compositions.

Pattern inspiration There are many artists, designers, and architects that employ beautiful, intricate and complex patterns. I’ve compiled the “best of” collection to inspire you for your Patterns Assignment. Each image is accompanied by a short description of the artist/designer/architect/etc., and each name is hyper-linked to their website (if applicable), so you can get more details on the people that inspire you the most.

Take a close look at the figure-ground relationship in the works by M.C. Escher, who is most known for his impossible architecture and landscape drawings, showcasing his play on perspective and point of view to create structures which ultimately cannot exist. I have always been more captivated by Escher’s pattern works. His ability to create a fluid and seamless plane of repeated images fitting perfectly together is both unrivaled and inspiring.

Texture/Pattern Project 1. In your sketch book draw out at least 4-5 distinct textures or patterns. Play and experiment. Look at the textures you might have around the house. How could you translate them onto a two dimensional surface? Draw each texture or pattern in a thumbnail shape (no less than a 1″x1″ square) this that you do not have to fill an entire page.
2. Once you have created your patterns and textures you will find an image that is of interest to you from a magazine, newspaper, picture, image you print out, etc.
3. You are going to recreate this image on a piece of bristol paper (if you don’t have access to your bristol you can use a piece of computer paper). You will recreate this image using the textures and patterns you created with your thumb nails. Each texture or pattern you use must replace a color/value in your original image. You must choose your textures or patterns appropriately to convincingly recreate the value changes in the image with only a texture or pattern. Therefore you may want to tweak your original texture and pattern designs to account for apparent value changes in you image. If there is a darker area on your original image, you might want to make your pattern more condensed and smaller. If there is a lighter area on your original image, you might want to make the pattern larger and less condensed.
Also depending on your image you may need to create a few more textures or patterns. (Textures or patterns can also be specific to the image, for example: if wood is representing in your image then you may want to create a wood pattern for these areas of your image - you do not have to though.)
4. Your recreated image will be in back and white using the different patterns and textures to distinguish the areas of value. This project should be done in micron pen and sharpie. All colors and values in your image must be translated to a texture or pattern.
Project examples

Final Product In the end you should have 3 part for this project. 1. The original image in presentation format on a piece of bristol paper. 2. Thumb nail sketches. 3.The final recreated image (on bristol paper) with all values converted to textures and patterns.
*Again if you do not have access to your bristol paper you may use computer paper.
