Corbin, the 'strongest candidate for the NL Rookie of the Year
Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks), who has already virtually confirmed winning the National League Rookie of the Year award, achieved the first major league record.
Arizona had a home game against the San Francisco Giants at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, USA on the 21st (Korean time).
Carroll, who started as Arizona's No. 1 right fielder on this day, was in full swing with 4 hits, 1 RBI, and 3 runs, including his 25th home run of the season and his 49th and 50th stolen bases.
Arizona defeated San Francisco 7-1 thanks to Corbin's amazing performance and starting pitcher Merrill Kelly's 6 2/3 innings of 1-run pitching.
As a result, Corbin recorded a batting average of 0.286, 25 home runs, 73 RBIs, 109 runs, 152 hits, and an on-base percentage of 0.363 and an OPS of 0.874 in 147 games of the season until today. 50 stolen bases.
After the game, mlbcom, the official website of Major League Baseball, reported that Corbin had achieved 25 home runs and 50 stolen bases, the first in history for a rookie player.
Corbin is already the player responsible for Arizona's present and future. As an outfielder, he has quick feet and slugging power. In particular, his speed is the best in the major league.
He was selected by Arizona in the first round, number 16, in the 2019 rookie draft, and entered the major league last year. Last year, he played in 32 games.
Since then, Corbin has been playing as a regular outfielder since the beginning of this season, showing excellent contact ability, power, and speed.

"I want to come back this season and throw the first pitch…"
"I will come back and pitch this season."
Japanese starting pitcher Darvish Yu of the San Diego Padres was placed on the injured list (IL) on the 15th. MLB.com, the official homepage of Major League Baseball, said, "San Diego's postseason hopes were dealt another serious blow when Darvish went to the IL on the 15th with right elbow inflammation."
'MLBcom' said, "Darvish received additional tests to determine the extent of his injury. San Diego has yet to reveal the results." However, after the St. "he said.
"I don't think this season is over. My plan is to come back and pitch this season," Darvish said. said.
Darvish signed a six-year, $108 million (approximately 142.7 billion won) contract extension with San Diego ahead of this season. However, in 24 games this season, he is 8-10, 136⅓ innings, 71 runs (69 earned), 51 walks, 141 strikeouts, an average ERA of 4.56 and a WHIP (on-base allowed per inning) of 1.30. Compared to his last season, he is performing poorly. Last season, in 30 games, 16 wins, 8 losses, 194⅔ innings, 67 runs (67 ERA), 49 walks, 197 strikeouts, an average ERA of 3.10 WHIP marked 0.95.
Darvish recorded 3 losses, 29 innings, 16 runs (15 ERA), 8 walks, 24 strikeouts, 4.66 WHIP, and 1.34 ERA in 5 games in August. In the Milwaukee Brewers expedition on the 26th, after showing a sluggish appearance with 5 runs (5 earned), 6 hits (1 home run), 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 4 innings, he came down from the mound and eventually revealed that he had a problem with his elbow.
Originally, Darvish planned to start against St. Louis on the 31st, but due to an injury, Rich Hill started as a substitute. Hill allowed 3 runs (3 earned), 5 hits (1 home run), 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 4 innings. However, for the second day in a row, the team was hit by Tommy Hyun-soo Edmon. In the bottom of the ninth inning with a 4-3 lead, Edmon hit a walk-off two-run home run off Josh Hader with two outs on second base.
San Diego, which fell into the swamp of two consecutive losses, is 4th in the National League West Division with 62 wins and 72 losses. With 28 regular league games left, the difference between the wild card advance and the wild card is 8 games. This is the moment when hope disappears. If the possibility of advancing to the postseason disappears, there seems to be no reason to urgently return Darvish.

Padres reportedly land Eric Hosmer
The ice cold MLB free agent market might be starting to thaw, with one of the winter’s biggest targets apparently landing in a new home. The San Diego Padres have reportedly agreed to terms with first baseman Eric Hosmer, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The terms haven’t yet been revealed but Hosmer will reportedly get an eight-year deal per Jon Morosi of MLBcom, including an opt-out clause after five seasons.
Hosmer hit .318/.385/.498 with 25 home runs and 31 doubles for the Kansas City Royals in 2017, and has averaged 29 doubles and 23 home runs over the last three seasons, with a 119 OPS+ during that span.
Hosmer was key to Kansas City’s back-to-back World Series teams, culminating in a championship in 2015. He turned 28 in October.
This is just the third free agent contract longer than three years this winter, along with Yu Darvish to the Cubs (6 years, $126 million) and outfielder Lorenzo Cain to the Royals (5 years, $80 million), the latter a teammate of Hosmer’s in Kansas City for seven seasons.
