kaz really loves the sound those springy doorstoppers make and always checks behind doors to see if there's one there, and if there is, he'll tap it with his foot and laugh as it goes boioioioioioioioioioioioioioioing (he's very easily amused)

chase was probably too busy with missions and stuff to join a school club in canon but i bet he would've KILLED IT on the high school debate team

Bionic Soldier ranting

I want to talk to you guys (Lab Rats and Mighty Med fandoms) about what aggravated me when I was younger, which is: the Bionic Soldiers. Not the way you’re probably thinking, but the way, that is a little difficult to explain? Let’s get to the point, I wanted to see them be evil more than it was shown. I feel that the storyline for them to become bionic students felt too rushed in my opinion. I feel like we should have a gradual shift to Taylor and her brothers/sisters as it did with Douglas.

In addition, I wanted to see a scene in which S-3/Sebastian had a fight with Chase or Leo, or something like that...but yeah, I’m almost done yapping here, it felt really rushed to be four seasons. I mean, there could have been a fifth season and I wouldn’t have seen anything wrong in it, like a possible fourth season of Mighty Med. The creators who decided to have Mighty Med destroyed off camera…count your days, but that’s another deep dive for another day.

I’m planning to make a collection of fanfics in a canon divergence au where it takes time to creep into the whereabouts of the soldiers and everything else too. I could do that for Mighty Med too!

It was Kaz's idea to place bets on which superhero could perform the most rescues. You knew firsthand how competitive Tecton was, and when you were placed on different teams, you knew the teenager's betting would turn ugly. Soon, hero turned on hero, and you refused to be a part of the mayhem unfolding. After failing to try and stop Tecton from focusing on placing the bets against the importance of saving Normos, you grew frustrated with your husband's competitive streak that was clouding his judgment.

After failing to reach his reasonable side, you decided to fight fire with fire and stole every rescue you could, raising the stakes. It made you smirk when you saw how frustrated he was becoming when you used your telekinetic powers to toss him aside, to steal his rescues.

You were in Mighty Med when you saw the news coverage of the bridge, setting down the weights when you saw Kaz and Skylar tied to the bridge. You took in as much detail as you could, recognizing the Franklin Bridge before making a swift exit from the hospital.

Using your powers, you exited the portal you created and rested your hands on your hips as it closed behind you. "You both okay?"

"Yeah," Skylar replied.

"Define okay," Kaz responded.

You looked at Sonic Shriek, "We can end this peacefully."

"I have a better idea." He blasted you with his powers and you covered your ears, groaning due to the ringing in your ears. You tried to blast him backward but felt yourself getting weaker and crumbled to the ground.

"What is happening?"

"Her powers stem from her mind. He's blocking them with the pressure!" Kaz explained. "She can't fight back!"

You turned onto your stomach when Sonic Shriek walked toward you, relieved he had ended your torment, feeling as if your head was going to explode. Kaz looked at you worriedly when you were tied up beside them, your movements sluggish, and he looked at Skylar when she began to yell about Tecton, knowing how protective your husband was of you, Kaz joined in.

"Oh, you are so gonna pay, pal!"

You looked at the two teenagers, "While I do appreciate your admiration for my husband, can you turn it down a notch? My head is killing me."

You closed your eyes tightly before looking at the supervillain, "What are your plans? To destroy a bridge, for what purpose?"

"My own amusement and relief knowing there is one less bridge out there."

"He really hates inventors," Kaz told you.

You expected the two had endured the full monologue of his evil plans and decided once was enough. "You won't get away with this. If you destroy the bridge, you will take us with it, and you will never know peace again. You will be chased relentlessly."

"By who? Tecton." He laughed, "Oooh, I am so frightened of that towering blond -"

Tecton landed in a crouched position, his fist on the ground. He rose to his full height as he narrowed his eyes at Sonic Shriek.

"Tecton!" Kaz grinned with relief.

Tecton stepped forward, stomping, shaking the ground, and causing your capture to be blown back a few feet. He looked at you with a question in his eyes.

"He blocked my powers." You explained.

Tecton frowned deeply before turning to Sonic Shriek.

"When I heard you three were in danger, I came as soon as I could."

"Finally! A hero who is not obsessed with stats or rankings." Skylar exclaimed.

"Actually, I need the Normo rescue because that stupid runaway Ferris wheel was empty." Your husband of two years complained. When you raised an eyebrow at his answer, he quickly added, "And to save you, of course."

"You poor baby!" You replied sarcastically. "Now that you're all cried out, do you think you can get us out of here?"

Tecton sent you a look, his lips pursed to hide his amusement. "You are so adorable when you're annoyed."

After knocking the supervillain unconscious, Tecton came to your side, untying you, and then helped Kaz. You swayed on your feet when you stood up and Tecton caught you before you stumbled. Kaz freed Skylar while the blond superhero fretted over you.

"My head is killing me." You whispered, placing your hands on his chest.

Tecton swept you into his arms and looked at you worriedly when you rested your head against his chest.

Tecton looked over his shoulder at Sonic Shriek before looking at you, "Come on," He handed Kaz his cell phone and told him who to call as he tied Sonic Shriek to the bridge, trapped with bent iron bars until backup arrived.

"I'll stay here," Skylar assured him.

"Yeah, me too." Kaz nodded.

Tecton sent the two a nod before crouching slightly, the ground shaking as he shot into the sky.

When you opened your eyes a short while later, Tecton was sitting next to you reading a newspaper that was tossed aside when he noticed you were awake.

"Hi," You smiled softly.

Tecton took your hand, flashing you a smile before kissing your forehead, lingering for a moment. "How are you feeling?"

"A little tired. But the pain's gone. Sonic Shriek?"

"Enjoying his cell downstairs."

"Who won?" You asked.

Tecton grinned, "Sorry,"

You rolled your eyes, "No you're not."

"Maybe a little." He placed a hand on your cheek, "I'll find Horace."

You watched him walk away and smiled fondly. You knew how you would react if your husband was weakened considerably, losing consciousness, and understood how he was feeling.

Passing the minutes, you sat up in the bed as you read the newspaper which detailed the imprisonment of Sonic Shriek, as you waited for Tecton to return. You noticed Kaz and Oliver following Horace and Tecton and sent the two Normos a smile.

"Hey, you're awake!" Kaz grinned.

"Am I right in assuming, I have you to thank for that?" You looked at Oliver who nodded, explaining how they were able to relieve the pressure in your brain with Absolute Zero's help.

Tecton grabbed Kaz by his shirt, throwing him aside and you reacted quickly, raising your hands, stopping the teen from colliding with the wall. You sent your smiling husband a stern glance as you lowered Kaz to the ground.

"That was awesome!"

You shook your head at his excitement, looking at Horace when he explained you could go home, his only recommendation being to rest for a few days.

"Don't worry -" Tecton interrupted before you could argue about how much rest you required, "She will."

You playfully rolled your eyes and sent him flying in the air with a wave of your hand. Tecton raised an eyebrow as he landed gracefully.

"Cute."

this was originally going to be another one sentence joke post but fuck it, full rant time

it is unbelievably shitty that Leo barely got to be the hero

he shone in some smaller moments (immediately figuring out that Marcus is evil comes to mind) but when it come to heavy, high stakes episodes (Taken, Lab Rats vs Mighty Med, the Vanishing, most two-parters tbh) his contributions are basically nonexistent to the point that if he was written out of the episode, the plot would still function the same. which isn't great considering Leo is the main fucking character

and then even when he does get to do something important (breaking into Douglas' lair with the exo-suit in Bionic Showdown, getting Douglas to help fix Bree's chip), it's typically only a catalyst so another character can save the day (Adam's blast-wave is what destroys the lair, Douglas is the one that actually fixes Bree's chip)

letting him have little moments of glory in more laid-back episodes and then immediately throwing him to the side in favor of Adam, Bree, and Chase when a serious, recurring villain shows up just feels cheap, bad writing

World Building Pt 2: Timeline

So I've done some calculations based on characters B-days and the shows dates and this is the timeline for the fic I've come up with. The years represent when these things take place in the world as I believe each season takes up roughly a year. Reminder I accept any feedback and ideas offered <3.

We are gonna start off with the first of the series which is: Lab Rats S1. The first season takes place in 2012, and it is quickly followed by LR S2 and The Thundermans S1 in 2013.

Mighty Med S1, Thundermans S2, Henry Danger S1 and LR S3 take place in 2014. This is also when Bionics are revealed to the world(if you read World Building pt1 you'll remember that Bionics are completely different than superpowers, but the general populations reaction to the Bionics sets up for the Supers reveal).

2015 is when shit starts heating up. Not only do we have Lab Rats S4 and Mighty Med S2(Mighty Med vs Lab Rats), but we also have Thundermans S3 and Henry Danger S2(Danger vs Thunder). 2015 is also when Supers are revealed to the world(chaos ensues).

In 2016 we deal with the fallout of the reveal with MM S3, Thundermans S4 and Henry Danger S3(theres a lot less drama for them because I firmly believe that the citizens of Swellview are kinda funky and already knew. It was kinda an open secret for them). I have some ideas on MM S3 but more suggestions are welcome. My current ideas are:

Kaz and Oliver discover their powers and try to adapt to them

The world panics over the existence of Supers and the Supers PR team was NOT prepped for this

Rodissius, got heavily injured during a battle and was evacuated to the Mighty Med Hospital. Oliver and Kaz managed to keep him alive, but they had to extract his powers, making him powerless. 

Bridget/Mr. Terror gets imprisoned and her empire dismantled

Mighty Med Hospital gets destroyed :(

2017 is HD S4 and Lab Rats: Elite Force S1(don't worry I will fix it)

2018 brings us HD S5 and LR:EF S2. My current ideas for this are(not in any order):

Citywide war between Bionics/Supers and Shifters. This also includes outside conflict with the EF team and the rest of the Super community

Rodissius and his children eventually get defeated and imprisoned

Power Vacuum and Crimewave ensue due to the citywide war

The Island Crew(Adam, Leo, Marcus(yes he's alive and got a redemption arc), and Daniel) show up every now and again as the training has slowed down. 

In 2019 we have Elite Force S3(I don't have solid plans for this yet I just know I want it to happen), Henry Danger S6(Team Danger adapting to life in Dystopia), and The Thundermans Return(yes its the movie but better).

2020-2024 is mostly the New Gen of Supers with Danger Force and Villains of Valley View taking center stage. We will obviously still be getting cameos and content on what the rest are up to but the Kiddos need their time to shine.

i hate the sparks fly episode of mighty med

i truly do (there is a very lengthy rant under the cut, you have been warned)

1. i despise oliver's relationship advice: "you have to become friends first and then gradually transition into something more" like babes let's not promote going into friendships solely to date someone

2. spark is so toxic. kaz answered a call from his mother and she flipped out and it's mentioned in passing that she threatened kaz so he wouldn't break up with her.

i know that it's a kids show and that they don't want me to take it so seriously but young kids shouldn't grow up with abusive relationships being written like this in media (specifically if, like in mm, the abuser is treated as the true victim) or else they'll think that it's okay to be treated/treat others this way. kids are impressionable and they follow what they see (mm was more of a tween show but young kids could obviously still find a way to watch it)

3. and now on to the biggest problem i have with the episode, the entire episode treats kaz as the villain and spark as the victim. (villain could be a reach but the episode definitely doesn't treat kaz like he's in the right)

as i mentioned before, spark was a toxic girlfriend (she also was low-key a love bomber but i'll move on) and kaz was visibly terrified of her. he had to get out of the relationship and because he thought she would kill him if he broke up with her, he faked his death (WHAT ELSE WAS HE SUPPOSED TO DO). spark finds out that he's not actually dead and powers up, kaz assumes that she's gonna kill him cause ya'know that's what she said she'd do, instead she starts crying and runs out of mighty med. now everyone is mad at kaz for lying to her and making her cry.

let's over-simplify the entire situation:

boy asks girl out

girl accepts and takes the boy on a date

girl shows intense jealousy, attempting to destroy the boy's property in the process

boy starts to regret his decision to ask out the girl

boy later mentions the girl threatening to kill him if he attempts to break up with her

boy's friend minimizes the situation

boy decides to take drastic measures to escape the girl

boy's friend tries to guilt him into feeling bad about taking drastic measures and initially refuses to help his friend get out of an abusive relationship

boy has to blackmail his friend into helping

the drastic measure ends up not working and the girl gets angry at the boy

boy fears for his life and prepares to be hurt

girl then cries and spins the story around to make him seem like the problem

boy's friend tries to make the boy feel bad for making the girl cry

girl is heartbroken by the breakup and cannot function properly

boy's friend makes the boy rekindle the girl's broken heart so she can function again

boy ends up blaming himself for her heartbreak to no avail

boy's friend makes the girl feel better, dissing the boy in the process

girl can function again

girl disses the boy multiple times before leaving him and boy's friend

now that you've read all that...WHAT THE HELL???

kaz was so not in the wrong for faking his death, i'm sorry, he just wasn't

even if spark's threat was empty, kaz surely believed it and feared for his life. and oliver, who's supposed to be kaz's best friend, was just gonna let him stay in an abusive relationship because spark's feelings could be hurt and it would be rude to lie to her.

if i were kaz, i would drop oliver right then and there and never talk to him again (them being terrible best friends is a rant for a different day) but i digress

also kaz having to take the blame for spark's heartbreak and apologize for hurting her feelings so she could fight nightstrike would be like if an abuser couldn't do their job as a police officer and the ex-partner had to publicly apologize for breaking up with them so they could capture some robbers

basically my final thoughts are:

i hate spark

i'm mad at oliver

and i stand with kaz

alright uh,,, lab rats elite force headcanons in 2023? ... you bet jesus fucking christ

(before i continue, i should just say, a lot of these are very surface level, it's been years since i've seen a single episode of lref, lab rats, or mighty med, and though i've been wanting to rewrite lref since 2016 (i mean jeez, how much i want to rewrite it is in my gd ao3 profile), i've almost certainly forgot important and not so important beats of the story, so i apologize in advance, ty)

okay, number one, starting off very strong, they are all el gee bee tee

chase is gay. and probably trans, but idk. anyways, this feels obvious lol. he/they pronouns bree is a trans lesbian ✌️ she transitioned when she was younger and either genuinely thought she was bisexual until she realized she just wasn't into men OR had some serious comphet, likely enforced by the fact most portrayals that she saw of trans women were still attracted to men so... yeah. either way, she realized she's a lesbian before the show starts. she/her pronouns oliver is bisexual and nonbinary <3 he/him pronouns, but he's definitely warming up to using they/them too kaz is trans and bisexual. completely gone for chase, def had a thing for oliver during mighty med, probably had a brief thing for bree before realizing she's a lesbian, and has never had a thing for skylar, but he would marry her for the joke. he/him pronouns skylar is demiromantic, demisexual, bisexual, and nonbinary. i have very strong feelings on all of these and will not elaborate. she/they pronouns

kaz and chase have a very obvious thing for each other. everyone knows but them type beat. except they do know. they're just too big of idiots to actually do anything about it

bree pretty much swore off relationships after everything that happened at bionic island

bree and skylar have hooked up despite this

oliver and skylar do enter a relationship at a point (later in the series/timeline), but are very quiet about. no one except kaz has caught on yet. kaz simply knows them too well and figured it out like the day after they officially got together

definitely a bit of a sub-point to the last hc, but oliver is not creepy! he does not harass the girl he likes, is not stalkerish towards her! they simply acknowledge he has feelings for her and don't let it interfere with their friendship. when she gets together with him, it's bc she genuinely likes him and wants to be in a relationship with him !!

(i'm very sorry for that whole spiel on skoliver, but they are the first real couple i shipped in anything except for maybe like,,, phinabella, so i am attached to them and because i can shape canon how i want to, i will put them in a happy, healthy, quiet relationship :))

on a similar note, that i'm pretty sure was established in the last point, but i want to drive the point home, oliver is closer to what he was in mighty med then in lref. he has a feelings journal :) he's just a silly guy who's completely gone for a pretty girl person alien :) who can't relate to that?

they all have trauma :) every single one of them :)

bree and chase have pretty much accepted that no matter how close they get to the trio, they'll really never have any sort of relationship like the three have with each other, and they've sort of figured that may be a good thing

saw someone say on this very website that leo sends very detailed emails/texts about what he and adam are up to every week, and bree texts like two sentence recaps of a month, and i couldn't agree more however, it must be said, bree and chase miss their brothers and video call with them every chance they get

I have soooo many EF AU thoughts but the most prominent ones on my mind right now are:

- Alan and Horace were in Mighty Med when it collapsed. Horace used his powers to buy Alan enough time to escape, dying in the process.

- Alan continues his uncle's legacy and becomes the great Healer of Heroes, Asclepius (the Greek god of healing; his staff was very similar to the Caduceus).

- He later gains the Caduceus power, which can only be held by one member of the Diaz family at a time and must be earned (so basically, Alan had to prove he was worthy of it, like Thor's hammer).

- Bridget & Nelson teamed up to find the people who destroyed Mighty Med. They have a lot of serious talks about parenting styles (I think it'd be funny if they dated, because it means Alan would get the same stepmom twice).

Prologue (Not necessary, but it's there)

Elevators usually made Leo antsy— ever since being stuck in one, after all— but it might’ve been worse when you were in one for nearly a minute already. Especially when you’re not sure what exactly it’s leading to, and the guy who could tell you, is standing right next to you and just choosing not to tell you. 

“Do you know where we are?” Leo asked, leaning into Chase’s space.

“Davenport Tower,” Chase said, “According to my GPS. As to why? Couldn’t tell ya.” Leo nodded once and stood back upright as the elevator doors began to open. 

“You are on the 110th floor of Davenport Tower, the most technologically advanced skyscraper in the world,” Donald said, leading them out of the elevator. Leo and Chase exchanged looks, having already known most of that information. 

Donald opened the door with a keycard.

“And this is your new home.”

“Wait, huh?” Leo spouted. Chase put his hand on Leo’s shoulder, leading him into the apartment.

“Woah! Check out that view!” Chase exclaimed, dashing away from Leo. 

“Okay,” Leo said. “This is acceptable.” 

“Just acceptable?” He asked, annoyed. Leo shrugged. “This penthouse is where I spent my years as a bachelor. Boy, if these walls could talk. Actually they can talk.” He practically dives for his desk, activating a tablet. “Walls off! Walls off!”

“Good,” Leo said. “I do not need Eddie pestering me here too. Three years was long enough with him, and one year was not long enough without him.”

“And I’m glad I don’t have to learn whether that was actually Eddie or something even more annoying or disturbing!” Chase agreed with a smile.

“You know what? Let's go out onto the terrace. I wanna show you something,” Donald said, basically ignoring their statements. 

Regardless, Leo and Chase followed Donald out onto the balcony, where there was a floating logo. 

“This holographic emblem represents your new team, or as I like to call it, an elite force,” Donald said. 

“Cool! When do we get to meet the others?” Chase prompted.

“Right now.” Donald swiped his hand at the ‘emblem’ and it spun into non-existence, revealing 3 familiar folks. ”I used a 3-D hologram wall! Kaz, Skylar and Oliver have been standing there the entire time!”

“Five hours to be exact,” The one who must’ve been Oliver said. 

In all honesty, Leo only really remembered Kaz— as did Chase— and he doubted that guy was Skylar. 

That and the fact that this Skylar resembled Skylar Storm, which meant there was a huge likelihood that this was the real Skylar Storm. 

“Let's not forget the two hours we spent rehearsing how to stand,” The Skylar Storm said. 

“Obviously we need three hours, because you're still not doing it right.” Leo cringed as he watched his step-father reposition the Skylar Storm’s position. As if the real-life superhero would know less about how to look like a hero than this civ. 

“It's great to see you guys!” Chase exclaimed, then immediately leaned into Donald’s space. “What are they doing here?”

“Mighty Med hospital was destroyed,” Skylar said, earning the bionics’ attention.

“What?” Leo yawped. 

“This is all that's left of it,” Kaz said, pulling his phone from his pocket and showing them the screen. 

“What nutcase did that?” Leo asked, examining the rubble.

“We have our theories,” Kaz said, glaring at an ashamed Oliver. “But we don’t technically know. Personally, I’m sure they’re connected to Mr Terror.”

It was weird for Leo to see Kaz so serious when before he was making sandwiches over his brother’s near-corpse. 

“They wanted to use my technology to track the criminals, but I had a better idea: to create an all-powerful team combining bionic heroes and superheroes.” Despite the situation, Leo nodded with a smile.

“Alright! When do we get to meet the superheroes?” He asked excitedly.

“You're looking at them,” Oliver said. Okay, mildly disappointing, but… still cool. Chase gave them an inquisitive look.

“Oh, yeah. Oliver and I have superpowers now,” Kaz said, motioning to the pair. Oliver nodded, while Skylar looked primarily irritated. Chase huffed a laugh.

“Yeah? You fall into a vat of radioactive waste? Wait, no, don't tell me… bitten by a supernatural spider!” Chase mimicked spiderman, which Leo didn’t think was fair. 

“Don't be ridiculous!” Oliver exclaimed. “We made indirect contact with a cosmic rock called the Arcturian while trying to stop my mom from becoming the most powerful supervillain in existence,” He said casually, almost like it was obvious.

“Yep, spoiler alert. It did not work,” Kaz said. There was a little more of that whimsy. 

“Oh, a magic space rock! And was that delivered by a bunch of little green men?” Leo pressed his lips into a thin line. He tapped Chase’s shoulder.

“Chase?”

“What?” 

“Skylar’s not from earth.” 

Chase looked at Skylar, stunned, before morphing into a weak smile.

“I mean…” 

“Just stop talking,” Skylar said, shaking her head. Chase nodded once, stepping back to put space between him and the supers. 

“Ignore Chase,” Leo said, a bit nervously. “I tried to get him interested in the whole superhero thing after we met the first time, but he just pointed out the ‘plot holes,’ and ‘unrealistic’ stuff. I don’t think it’s really processed that superheroes really exist.” He laughed, still laced with tension. “I mean, I can hardly wrap my mind around it and I’ve been reading comics since before I could read!” 

“Well, excuse me Leo, if I can’t believe that these two have superpowers,” Chase said. “For us, it’s—”

Kaz made Chase stop talking with the ignition of his arm, launching a stream of fire into the house and at the fireplace. Leo scrunched his face slightly trying to withhold his laughter upon Chase’s reaction.

“But that–” He pointed to the fireplace in bewilderment. “But the human body can't–” He stepped close enough to Kaz that Leo wondered if he was gonna head-butt him. “I'm watching you FireBoy,” He said, in a voice that frankly reminded him of Spike a tad bit.

“Okay, Kaz has fire stuff. What about you, Oliver?” 

“The Arcturian must’ve wanted us to be inverses, because my powers are all water and ice. Although, we both can do this,” He said with a nearly-mischievous smile.

He dashed over to the fence of the terrace… and jumped off. Leo nodded as Chase ran to watch him fall. 

“Well, it was a good team while it lasted,” Chase said, patting Donald on the back. 

“So you guys can fly?” Leo asked, earning a nod from Kaz toward the city. As if on cue, Oliver flew up, screaming. 

“What the!” Chase exclaimed, stepping back next to Kaz to see Oliver flying in the sky.

“Hey, he’s not bad!” 

“Wait for it,” Skylar uttered, and Leo noticed Kaz deliberately walking away from where Chase was standing.

Which, made sense when Oliver crashed onto the balcony, taking Chase down with him.

“Sorry. Still working on the landings,” Oliver grunted. 

“Okay, I’ve been standing in these god forsaken heels for two hours, can we please go back inside?” Skylar prompted, glaring at Donald. 

“Why’d you wear heels then?” Chase asked.

“Because our wardrobe had to be approved by your dad and wouldn’t sign off on most of my clothes.” 

“Guess Alan and Horace had a point all those times,” Kaz muttered. Skylar backhanded his shoulder. 

“Let’s just go inside, please,” Skylar said.

“Yeah, I need to get your living quarters set up anyway,” Donald said, leading them back inside. He dashed up the stairs as quickly as someone of his size and age could.

“So, how did you three manage to escape before Mighty Med was destroyed?” Chase asked.

“Looking for my mom,” Oliver said. Chase narrowed his eyes. 

“Mr Terror,” Kaz said. “Ironically, if we were there, we probably would’ve found her.” His voice was weak again, lacking any joy or whimsy.  

“If we were there, all that would’ve happened is that we wouldn’t be here to hunt her down,” Skylar said from the couch. She’d taken off her shoes already. “I know we lost a lot of people, but we’d be lost too. And then she’d really be unstoppable.”

The melancholy mood was interrupted when Donald scampered down the stairs. 

“Okay, sleeping quarters are all set. Guys on the right, Skylar on the left, and the guy who made it all possible will be in the giant room at the end of the hall. Stay out of my pool.” 

Leo chuckled silently and exchanged looks with Kaz. 

“Yeah, we’ll see Big D,” Leo said. Donald sighed. 

“Hey, Mr Davenport,” Kaz said, stepping closer to him. “We gotta start searching for those guys who destroyed our friends. Where's all that technology you promised us?” His voice was dull, opposing the impish look he’d just shared with Leo. 

“I'm so glad you asked,” Donald said with his usual over-proud voice and smile. “Hyper-Lift open!” The sudden change in volume without warning made Chase flinch, but Leo was probably the only one he noticed. He pat Chase’s back empathetically. “It's a voice activated secret passage!” He exclaimed. 

“That is so awesome!” Kaz exclaimed. “And it seems like such a fire hazard!” There was the Kaz that Leo had met. 

“I used my Hydroloop technology to create an elevator that will take you from the penthouse to below the Earth's surface instantly. Step inside and let me show you,” He said. Everyone moved to enter the hydroloop, but Donald shouted. 

“Oh, oh wait... me first.” Donald raced to the elevator, Leo following quickly to be second, and everyone else followed.

“Oh, FYI, I tend to get sick on any ride that has a big–” Oliver’s final word, “drop,” was stretched by the drop of the hyperlift.

Oliver looked dizzy when they land. 

“Welcome to Mission Command,” Donald said. 

“Yeah, I’m not calling it that,” Leo said, shaking his head. “The Lab is just so much easier to say.” Chase nodded.

“I agree.”

“Catchier too,” Kaz agreed. Donald gave them his barely-not-neutral glare, but continued talking. Kaz and Leo joined either side of him. 

“This is your teams central Nervous system. This is where you'll train, plan missions…” Leo and Kaz reached out to touch the now glowing table. “… learn how things work before you touch them,” Donald added with gritted teeth, slapping both their hands away. His phone began to buzz. “Excuse me, I have a very important DavenCall to take.” He walked back to the hyperlift.

“You can't you just take it down here?” Oliver asked.

“Well, I could, but then I wouldn't get to ride the Hyper-Lift again.” He whooped as the hyperlift whisked him upstairs. 

“Okay, I'm just gonna say it,” Skylar said, “I'm very uncomfortable with that guy heading up this operation.” 

“Yeah,” Leo said. “If the past has proven anything, he won’t be. It’ll mostly be me, and Chase, and… Mostly Chase, really.”

“All right, let's head out and start searching for Mr Terror. We have some leads already, but—”

“Kaz, we don’t actually know if it was her who initiated it. She’s a priority, of course, but that doesn’t mean she did this. It could’ve been a rival villain trying to send a message to her, that she’s not the only powerful villain.” Kaz sighed.

“Oliver, I get that she’s your mom, but she’s still a villain. We can’t cross her off the list. And either way, we have to look somewhere. We'll go city by city starting here.” He pointed to Leo and Chase “You guys take Uptown, we'll take Downtown.”

“What?” Chase asked bluntly. He shook his head. “We don't just go randomly looking for people. We have to devise a plan first.” Kaz scrunched his face.

“I just did. Uptown, Downtown… and I don't really know any other parts of town so… plan commenced!” He began walking off, but Chase caught him by his arm, making him freeze near immediately. 

“There’s a smarter way of doing things,” Chase said, stepping toward the cyberdesk.

“He’s right, Kaz,” Oliver said. “You’re the action guy for a reason. Not the idea guy.”

“Chase isn’t the idea guy either,” Kaz grumbled.

“First of all, there’s five of us now,” Oliver started, “So we can have more than one idea guy, so long as we have action guys like you.” He pat Kaz’s shoulder. “Second of all, I wouldn’t call him an idea guy either. More of a plan-guy.” Kaz rolled his eyes.

“You’re only saying that because you like being the only idea guy.”’

“Well, you like being the only action-guy, so—”

“No, I just don’t like when my best friend is suddenly me!”

“Okay!” Chase exclaimed, getting the pair to shut up. “The CyberDesk is compiling a database of all the superheroes at the hospital someone might have had a grudge against, including Mr Terror.” He stepped closer to the supers. ��In the meantime, I still need to know more about you guys.” Kaz smiled, almost excited or bashful.

“Well I'm 5'10", I'm a hearty mix of Irish and German, and I've been known to lie about my height,” He said with a nod. Chase blinked for a moment in confusion.

“I meant, what other magical powers do you have?” He said, his voice almost tense with… annoyance? Confusion? Something else? Who could tell. Not Leo. 

“Oh, uh, I have super strength,” Oliver said, raising his hand subtly. Chase scrunched his eyes.

“You?” He asked.

“Yes, me. Why does everyone act so surprised when I say that?”

“Because we can see your rib cage through your shirt,” Skylar said with a smile. Oliver crossed his arms. The intercom clicked on.

“Guys get up here. There's something strange going on.”

Everyone exchanged looks before heading to the hyperlift. 

“Woah, that is strange!” Skylar remarked, motioning to the painting of Donald leaning on the fireplace. Leo shook his head.

“Unfortunately… it’s not,” Leo said.

“I’m talking about outside! Something flew by the window.”

“Hm, maybe throwing this out the window will draw it closer,” Kaz said, stepping toward the painting. Chase bit back his laughter.

“No, I'm serious. There is something out there!”

When Chase looks away from Kaz and out the window, he realises that Donald is right. 

“Get down!”

Leo dashed back to the hyperlift, having stayed close, as did Donald. Unfortunately for everyone else, however, they were much closer to the shattering window. Chase and Kaz jumped to the seating side of the couch, only narrowly missing the coffee table. Skylar dashed behind the counter, and Oliver did the same with the couch.

“Is everybody okay?” Donald asked, stepping out of the hyperlift. Leo stayed for a second, worried more would happen.

“Yeah,” Skylar breathed. Leo stepped out, seeing Kaz brush broken glass from his hair with his bare hand. “Look, there's something on the floor.”

“Yeah, about 36 thousand dollars worth of glass,” Donald grimaced.

“No…” Oliver said. “It’s some sort of gift box.” He picked it up off the floor and started to open it. 

“Stop!” Kaz prevented. “Dude,” He said, taking the box from him. “What are you doing? You gotta open the card first!” He said it as if it were obvious. Chase snatched the box out of Kaz’s hands, looking at the other teen incredulously. 

“No!” He said sternly. “Don't open anything. It could be rigged to blow this place apart. I'll use my bionic eye to scan it.” Chase puts his hand to his temple, looking at the box. “It's a flash drive. I can download its contents onto my internal hard drive and play it back for everyone in The Lab.” 

“They broke our windows just to send us a box?” Leo asked. “Who’s never heard of express mail?” 

“That's why you gotta open the card first!” Kaz exclaimed. He reached for the card and Chase slapped his hand away. 

Everyone filed into the hyperlift again, Donald texting someone on his phone as they dropped back down to Mission Command. 

“Okay, a cleaner will be by in ten to clean up the glass,” Donald said, tucking his phone away. Chase tapped around on the desk as he spoke, pulling up a black screen with a play button. “It's a video message.”

Chase swiped his arm and the video appeared on the TV. On the screen was two masked figures. 

“Destroying your little hospital was just the beginning. We're on the hunt for every superhero that remains, and soon they will all be extinct.”

“And once you've watched us eliminate them, we're coming for you, Oliver, Kaz and Skylar, and anyone else dumb enough to protect you.”

“Two people!” Oliver exclaimed. “I-It was two people, it couldn’t have been mom. Er, Mr Terror.” He paused, looking confused. “Wait, then who was that? And don't say check the card first.”

“Whoever it was, it's obvious they've been watching us. I'm gonna go activate the penthouse security perimeter and talk to a company to get those windows replaced.” He left again. 

“See!” Kaz exclaimed, sounding broken up again. Leo couldn’t imagine having such quick and dramatic mood-swings. “This is exactly why I wanted to go out and find them first!”

“As soon as we finalise a plan–”

“Okay, forget your plan! If we don't stop them, they're gonna take out every last superhero including us!” Kaz interrupted. 

“Well they're gonna take us out a lot faster if we go into this thing unprepared!” Chase asserted. “Look, I wanna find them too. But, we have to be smart about this. We have no idea what we're up against.”

“As much as it pains me to say,” Leo spoke up. “He has a point. Work smarter, not harder and all that..”

“Skylar,” Kaz tried. “Back me up on this.” Skylar hesitated.

“We'll get them, it’s just gonna take some time.” Kaz turned to Oliver.

“Oliver?” His voice cracked. Oliver just shook his head slightly, looking down at the floor afterward. “Oh come on. Not you too, dude we have to do this. For Mighty Med!”

“I know. I just… I think we should play it safe,” Oliver said. Kaz laughed incredulously, almost like he was going crazy.

“Safe? None of us are safe with those two on the loose! You know, I never thought being part of an Elite Force would mean sitting around doing nothing!” Kaz marched off into the hyperlift, giving them all a dirty look before ascending. 

Chase sighed. “I hate that we can’t act sooner.” 

“It’s better this way,” Skylar reassured. “Like Leo said, smarter not harder.” Chase sighed again.

Donald was escorting the cleaners when Oliver rushed in, out of breath already.

“Mr Davenport,” He started, “I can't find Kaz. I thought he was in his bed snoring, but it turned out to be Skylar down the hall.”

“Shoot,” Donald grumbled. “Oliver, go wake Chase, Leo, Skylar. Now.

As Oliver ran to their room to do as he was asked, Donald began poking around his tablet to see if he could track Kaz’s phone from his number, before realising he didn’t actually know Kaz’s phone number. 

“He left on his own?” Chase yelled, running down the stairs. “I should’ve known!”

“No, I should’ve known,” Oliver dismissed. “I’m his best friend, I should’ve known he’d do this.” 

“Okay best friend, where do you think he would be then?” Chase asked, suddenly annoyed. Which, Leo could understand. 

“I dunno,” Oliver admitted. 

“There’s a hundred places he’d think to go first, but who knows what the real one would be,” Skylar agreed.

“Hm,” Leo said. “If only one of us had thought to plant a GPS device on him,” He said, pulling out his phone. Chase snatched it away from him, though too stressed to be relieved.

“Wait, does that mean you planted a tracker on me and Oliver too?” Skylar asked. 

“Of course,” Leo said with a shrug. “Equality and all that.”

“Okay, I got it. It’s not too far, if we hurry we can get there before he moves,” Chase said, tucking Leo’s phone away in his own pocket.

“Wait, that…” He stopped talking as Chase left urgently. “Eh, later.”

“Okay, if I can find the costume shop that sold those guys their masks, maybe I can track them down.”

In all honesty, it made sense that Oliver was the idea guy, when Kaz’s were mostly like this. 

“86 costume shops in one city! What are you people trying to hide?”

The two figures seemed to just appear in front of Kaz as he looked up, startling him.

“Ah!” He exclaimed. He stiffened. “Uh, I mean ah-ha, I found you.”

Kaz wasn’t able to be surprised by the fact that they removed their masks, preoccupied with being surprised as to who was behind them.

“Wait, I know you guys. You're Roman and Riker. Your dad is the superhero, Rodissius.”

“Was a superhero. Until you got your hands on him at Mighty Med,” The one Kaz thought was Roman said. But he could’ve been wrong for all he knew; he could barely tell his own siblings apart. 

“What are you talking about? We saved his life,” Kaz said, confused. 

“You took away his powers!” The other, which according to Kaz’s logic would be Riker. 

“We had no choice,” Kaz started, “Sacrificing his powers was the only way to keep him alive,” He explained.

“You took away the only thing that made him special and forced him to live his life as a mortal! That's a punishment far worse than death.” They must’ve been taking turns, because it was apparently Roman’s turn again.

“That's a warped way of looking at that, but all right!” Kaz exclaimed, more confused than he had been in a while.

“Our father may not have the power to take revenge,” Roman said (not taking turns then) “But we do.”

“Okay, well, I have the power to take revenge too. For all my friends.” Roman and Riker grabbed at each other wrists and whirled into a smoke monster. “Uh-oh,” He said, his usual nervous laughter showing through.

Luckily— or maybe unluckily, Kaz couldn’t be sure yet in all honesty— the rest of the team ran up behind him.

“Oh, perfect, right on time,” Kaz said, still with nervous laughter.

“What is that?” Chase asked, looking up at the cloud.

“Meet the guys who destroyed Mighty Med” Kaz said, nodding toward them. “‘They're shape-shifters.”

“Oh, okay.” Chase nodded. “What the heck are shape-shifters?!”

“Seriously? And you call yourself the smartest man alive. They can turn into anything. It’s in the name.”

“Get down!” Skylar exclaimed.

The shifters shot toward the team, all of them ducking just in time. They shot back up and Kaz ran forward and attacked it with his Pyrokinesis before stepping back again into line.

“Chase would be a great time for one of your plans!” Kaz exclaimed

“Oh, now you want a plan?” Chase snapped. “If you had followed my plan in the first place we wouldn't even be in this mess!”

“I didn't ask you guys to show up!” Kaz exclaimed, though he was very thankful for it.

“I didn't want to show up!” Chase exclaimed. Leo rolled his eyes. Fucking liar. He was the most worried out of all of them.

“I was sleeping!” Skylar exclaimed, annoyed.

“We know!” The rest, barring Kaz, exclaimed.

Kaz, Skylar, Chase and Oliver started yelling at each other, which Leo quite frankly shouldn’t have been used to already. Though, he figured it was more because he was used to Adam, Bree and Chase (and Donald) arguing for almost no reason, especially in dire situations.

“Hey!” Leo exclaimed, worried. “Where'd they go?” He asked warily. 

“I can still hear them,” Skylar said. Chase traced around his ear and looked up.

“Uh… guys?” 

The shape-shifters shot down on them before they could even realise what was happening, giving them no time to dodge, and in no time, everything

Who knows how long they were out, though it was still dark when they woke up. 

“Is everybody okay?” Chase groaned.

“I think so,” Kaz answered. “Did we win?” Probably not okay then. Maybe a concussion. Leo scanned the area to see if the shapeshifters were still there. They weren’t but neither was…

“Wait, where's Skylar?” 

“Skylar!” Oliver exclaimed, scrambling up alongside the rest of the boys. 

“They took her.”

“I can't believe you let them take Skylar! All because you couldn't work together as a team!” Chase looked up in the way that meant he wanted to groan, but didn’t want to be rude.

“It's not my fault!” Chase exclaimed. He pointed at Kaz. “He's the one who took off on his own!”

“It doesn't matter! You're a leader it's your responsibility to look out for them!” Donald accused. Kaz shook his head.

“No, no, Chase is right,” Kaz said, drawing his attention. “I let my emotions get the best of me. From now on we work together instead of against each other.” He put his fist out toward Chase, who hesitated before bumping the peace offering.

“Good. Now, Leo. Tracker please.” Leo put his hands up.

“I don’t have it!” He exclaimed. He looked at Chase.

“Oh,” Chase said, “Right.” He pulled out Leo’s phone. 

“Tracker?” Kaz asked. Oliver nodded.

“Leo planted tracking devices on us.”

“Where?” Kaz asked immediately. “On or in us?” Oliver just shrugged.

“Must’ve been on you,” Chase said. “Her tracker’s the same place we passed out. They must’ve found it and removed it. Or it broke on impact and locked in the place it was.” Chase shook his head. “It doesn’t matter, the point is we have no way of knowing where she is.”

Everyone gathered around the cyberdesk. 

“Normally when I'm looking for her, I just follow her sweet flowery scent,” Oliver said, earning strange looks from everyone. “That's probably not gonna work today,” He said. 

“There’s no way that’s true anyway,” Kaz said. 

“We have to hurry, she still doesn’t have her powers,” Leo said. “Let’s check the video and look for clues,” He said, pulling up his needed information. Chase shook his head.

“Don't bother. I scoured every frame of that video. There's nothing there that can help us.” Oliver pointed to the screen.

“Not even this faded number on the sign behind them?” Chase huffed.

“Oh, come on! What do you have some mystical superpower that allows you to see that?” He griped. 

“Yeah,” Oliver said. “It's called eye-sight.”

“Part of it’s covered by dirt though,” Kaz said, nodding toward it.

“Wow, Chase, you’re off your game today. You should’ve been the first to notice that, Chase,” Leo said. “I mean, you have super eye-sight, you’d think you could see a street sign.” Chase sighed, but otherwise ignored Leo.

“If I do a spectral isolation scan, I can contrast the elements to see what’s under the dirt.” He put his hand to his temple, activating his bionic eye. “It's the subway station at 128th street.”

“There is no subway station at 128th street,” Donald scoffed. “I mean there was one 40 years ago when I was… 10 years from being born. But the city abandoned it after a really bad flood.” Kaz stepped closer to Chase, looking at the screen.

“Wait, shape-shifters naturally dwell in dark cavernous spaces. That must be where they're keeping Skylar.” Chase smiled subtly enough that the new team members (and probably Donald) likely didn’t even notice. 

“Let's go,” Chase said. He pat Kaz’s arm before leading everyone out of the room.

“I'll send the directions to your chip,” Donald said. “You can still get there through an old underground tunnel. I used to play there 40 years ago when I was… You know what I'll send you the directions.”

Oliver was the first one to get there, though not by a ton.

“Get away from her!” He yelled as soon as he saw them.

“Hey, look who it is!” Roman rumbled.

“You just made the biggest mistake of your lives,” Riker added.

“Let's do this,” Roman said to Riker. 

“Leo, use your strength to free Skylar,” Chase assigned as they began fighting. 

Leo nodded and did as he was told, with one simple tug of his right arm. Skylar looked surprised at him.

“Now I know how Oliver feels,” He mumbled, tossing the bars onto the floor.

Roman and Riker clapped together again, swarming into black wind.

“Oh great, they're doing their dust bunny thing again,” Kaz uttered. Chase huffed a laugh but his face stayed serious. 

The swarm began, fittingly, swarming around them. 

“They're creating a Ring of Centrifugal Force around us!” Chase exclaimed upon realisation. 

“Okay, so we’re gonna be crushed by air! Who knew that was possible!” Leo exclaimed in frustration. Chase seemed to come to a realisation. 

“Wait! If shape-shifters change their form by manipulating their molecular structures–”

“Then there has to be a way to freeze the molecules and stop the swarm!” Kaz completed, “That's it! Oliver has ice powers! Oliver, use your CyroBlast!” 

“Right!”

Oliver shot (sprayed?) at the swarm with his CryoBlast, the circular motion spreading the attack to their whole body. 

“It’s actually working!” Leo exclaimed. 

Soon enough, the ice ring fell to the ground.

“It worked! It's frozen solid!”

“Guess they should’ve shape-shifted into a hula-hoop,” Leo laughed. He was largely ignored by his target audience, of his brother and his old, brief friend. 

“Dude, that was a great idea to mess with their molecular structures,” Kaz praised.

“Hey, it was your idea to freeze the molecules,” Chase returned, earning a suspicious look from Leo.

“Yeah, but I mean you're the one who gave me the idea, I would’ve never thought of it otherwise.”

“Kaz, don’t,” Leo said. “Chase doesn’t need any more ego.” Kaz laughed slightly, shifting to stand next to Oliver.

“Hey, commemorative fake photo?” 

“Oh, yeah!” Oliver exclaimed. Leo and Chase looked at them with confusion as they posed to pretend to take a picture.

“Why don’t you just…” Chase started. “Take a real picture.”

“Storage,” Oliver and Kaz said at the same time. 

“Then we’ll use my phone,” Chase said, finding a place next to Kaz again. 

Leo and Skylar leaned neatly into frame as they took a few photos, just to be sure everyone’s eyes were opened and such.

Unfortunately, not open enough, as they didn’t notice the swarm slip out of the ice-ring.

“They got away?!” Donald exclaimed.

“Yes, but this time it was because we were too good of a team!” Chase said with a nervous laugh. Kaz smiled at Donald as a way of showing his support. 

“And thanks to these two dumb-dumbs, we got a picture of them getting away,” Skylar said, pointing to the supers. Chase nodded and handed over his phone. 

“Oh, hey, that’s a good one. You can't even see my ribs!” 

“If it was Kaz and Oliver’s fault, why is it on your phone?” Donald asked Chase. 

“We've gotta warn the rest of the superheroes and let them know they're being hunted,” Kaz chimed, interrupting.

“The good news is Roman and Riker don't even know where they are so we should be able to alert them first,” Skylar said, relieved that their plan of abducting her for information didn’t work. 

“Good,” Chase said.  “but it's still gonna take some time. We got a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get some sleep.”

While Kaz and Oliver shared a room, Leo and Chase bunked together. 

“So, Kaz,” Leo started. “What do you think of him?” He asked. 

“Just Kaz?” Chase asked. “They all have a lot of learning to do, but they have potential.”

“Great,” Leo said. “Now tell me why you complimented him instead of just accepting his praise.” Chase laughed weakly, nervously.

“What?” He asked, airy and stretched. 

“C’mon Chase. What’s the deal?”

“Kaz had a good idea, he deserved to know that.” Leo shifted his gaze. Chase sighed. “When I had Kaz’s intelligence, I felt… so dumb. But there was stuff in there that I would’ve never known or thought of otherwise. I’ve forgotten most of it, but. I know Kaz feels stupid too. He doesn’t deserve that, he’s smarter than people give him credit for— than I gave him credit for.” Leo nodded.

“Okay,” He said. “That’s an acceptable explanation. For now.” He pointed his finger at Chase. “But I got my eye on you two.” Chase looked down at Leo’s arm.

“That looks a lot less intimidating with your capsule cast on.”

“It’s not supposed to be intimidating,” Leo said. “I’m just letting you know that I’m gonna be there for you when you want to talk about your… ‘friendship’ with Kaz.” Chase sighed, but smiled softly.

“Thanks Leo,” He said. “I appreciate it.”

i had a dream last night that lref season 2 came out but it was really mighty med season 3 with the main villain being mr terror but a bunch of mm people kept showing up to help and chase had a poster board labeled “died when mighty med was destroyed” and “did not die when mighty med was destroyed” and by the end of the show all of the names had been moved into did not die. also perry and horace had a fling but perry ended up with boris which was a cause for constant petty drama.
