Aqua Teen Hunger Force #93: “A PE Christmas” | December 13, 2009 - 11:45PM | S08E01 regular series version aired March 15, 2010 @ 12:00AM

It’s the Aqua Teen Christmas episode, in which Shake and Meatwad steal Public Enemy’s identity and try to cut a rap record to sell on Christmas. It’s a pretty bad plan because they record it on Christmas eve and Shake sorta just believes the CD will appear in stores on Christmas day. The stores aren’t even open on Christmas day!! SHAKE COME ON! 

Mostly this one just consists of two scenes: one where the Aqua Teens attend Christmas mass and Shake acts childish. There’s a nice crowd scene filled with people from previous episodes, and for some reason the monsters are all sitting on the opposite side of the room. You hate to see a segregated church on Christmas. Then there’s the scene in the recording studio, with Shake and Meatwad coming up with bad ideas and recording them. The gag at the end of this, where Shake takes a big shit and it winds up on Meatwad’s track for Silent Night, is pretty low-brow, but it’s maybe the funniest thing in the episode. I don’t want to like it, I’m not about that life. 

This episode featured a bit of a twist where it turns out that Shake was filled with eels, hence his violent butthole outbursts. The original broadcast of this ended with Shake in jail, because he broke into a Better Buy store to see how his record was selling. He gets exploded to death after a bunch of eels burst out of him. When this episode aired as part of season seven, they added an ending that sorta explains that the Eels belonged to Chuck D (flagrantly misidentified as Flava Flav on the ATHF wiki). 

This one’s pretty lame, TBH. There were things in it I liked, but the best thing being a poo poo joke really should sum it all up. It also mildly perturbed me that this one airs between the live-action episode and the official season premiere “Rabbot Redux” which includes some continuity, so I numbered it according to the in-season air order. It also airs in some fucked up order on DVD! I don’t know why! I don’t know why they do that! 

Oh yeah I also liked the part where Shake rudely bangs on the glass in the recording studio. Pretty funny.

15th Annual Holiday Content Marathon (December 18, 2009)

An evening of Christmas specials. Also scheduled was “Gary’s Posse”, a promo that aired for a show that didn’t actually exist; in fact, I forgot all about this. Gary’s Posse was put on the schedule for AM this evening, but it was just a repeat of King of the Hill. Swimpedia (where I got this and nearly all of my scheduling information from) uncovered the fact that this is actually just stock footage from Julien Tromeur called "Afraid of your sexual fantasies." The promo advertising Gary’s Posse was just a gag.

Worth noting about THE VENTURE BROS S04E07 "THE BETTER MAN"... it features the use of the Dana Snyder character completely unironically going "sooo... that happened." Granted this was right before that became the exclusive domain of MCU-type dialogue, but it still hit my ear about as harshly as any Bush-era slur. Nasty!

OH YEAH! I think I made note of that but for some reason it didn't make my write-up. i couldn't tell if that was bad writing or if that was an intentional character thing, but usually characters call each other out for saying stuff like that. So, that happened.

i have such a complicated relationship to mcu hela as a character because like on one hand the way her character is actually executed in t3 makes her a shitty loki redux where the message is "scapegoating and killing the rebellious sibling really is good actually" AND she's part of a retcon which i feel is actively detrimental to the previous films - her whole arc alleges that odin actively hid his imperial past from his sons while previous films tell us that they knew the worst of it and they were taught that it was good... but on the other hand, even the worst propaganda still tends to contain lies, so maybe those ideas don't have to be completely opposed, and on top of that i genuinely LOVE what she does for odin's character and the family dynamic by being such a fundamental lie, by being a ghost haunting every interaction they have before that film, by making everything that happens in thor 1 just another iteration of a cycle that odin has already seen play out, and i also think she has tremendous potential in and of herself, as a third child of odin, raised by the same man but under such different circumstances... god. goodbad badgood movie syndrome strikes again. she is marvel, she contains multitudes.

redux of my last message. Giah is skrull in the mcu who is a foreign invader (along with many of her kind), who is trying make Earth her new home planet along with some members of species because they’ve fighting these assholes named the kree who want every planet. and so giah came to earth with her parents at young age during the captain marvel movie. & she got killed in the show. giah ended up being hated for how terrible she is. & giah gets shot & ummm… this EC stan was pissed at a giah anti saying blaming it all on the Sansa v Dany drama from 4 years ago. and i couldn’t just keep this to myself. and giah is even resurrected. so…,

Oh LOL okay so it was supposed to be nonsensical, I was like wait what is even happening and why is Wanda here. Truly even as someone who has made beaucoup de content about Dany, no one cares about Dany as much as her stans think that they do.

Marvel Worlds scrap/redux notification #1

Beast

I am a fan of the story planned for this story, but I believe it would be better used in The Wolverine: Heir. Beast and his wife would be now work as S.W.O.R.D..

The series is not officially scrapped as of yet.

Bloodstone

This series was meant to use an idea I had for the scrapped “Marvel Chronicles” universe. I’m not as interested in this character as I once was.

The series is not officially scrapped, but is very close to that.

Cyclops: Age of the Phoenix

This series is scrapped because I’d rather tell stories after the “Dark Phoenix” saga from the comics and be able to use certain characters.

Silver Sable

This series will either be scrapped or redux because Doctor Doom was meant to be the main antagonist and I feel he is too big of an enemy for this series.

Skaar

I often forget about this series and I am not that much interested in the setting or the character of Skaar.

The series is not officially scrapped yet.

Thor

This was meant to have a Thor similar to the one in the MCU film Thor: Love and Thunder. Since the film was not a success and I don’t like comic book Thor I might change the series to be about Kevin Masterson AKA Thunderstrike.

The Wasp

This series is not scrapped, but will be replanned or split in two. I have no interest in the world of fashion and will have to read more about a solo series about Janet. I am a fan of Nadia van Dyne and will tell a story about her either within The Wasp series or in her own solo series.

Witchcraft

The story was meant to focus on Jennifer Kale versus Dormammu. I am not interested in the main character and story.

I made this to use a character I really liked as a teenager but I am not as interested anymore.

MC has a couple of best friends. could make his* BF be Rhodes but I don't ship him with anyone (I mean, I've read Tony/Rhodes fics, but still). maybe I'll apply my "I wish Tony and Carol were friends in the MCU" thing and make them BFFs here. and I'm a Danbeau shipper.

I'd end up massively changing the original backstory. because in the original (spoilers? nobody here would read it anyways) the LI has some fucked up traumas involving an older sibling being terribly abusive.

it's more a "taking the premise and running with it" instead of "find and replace the names in the original work to MCU characters"

* the original story is femslash, but I'll referred to the MC with "his" because I'm talking about the Starker version.

shitty cheating AU inspired by a trilogy I'm writing

Omega Tony is married to someone – probably Steve, for, uh, reasons – and he's happy about it. Or as happy as he could be. His mate isn't the worst, he's just too busy but at least he's not pressuring Tony to have the pups Tony doesn't wanna have.

But then alpha Peter shows up and he's everything Tony actually wanted in an alpha.

Because he doesn't want to be a shitty cheater, he's an absolute jerk to the golden retriever in alpha shape for the next year or so. They're lab partners and it's hell because the young man just wants to be his friend.

Then there's an incident. And they're on lockdown. And Tony's urges can't be contained.

Peter's pretty into it.

Tony is, despite his efforts, a shitty cheater.

“ ... Not for you I don’t, Big Guy.” Thera reached up to give his shoulder a squeeze - her hand seemed small in comparison, but firm all the same. “Unless,” Her eyebrow rose as she stepped back to let him properly into the apartment, “you’ve given up on the ‘no drinking’ rule?”

Thor was notorious for not giving up anything if he could help it, much less a personal pledge, and that only gave depth to the worry line growing between her brows as she closed the door behind him. “I can do you some coffee instead, or hot chocolate?”

And as for the ‘not talking about it’ ... well, if she knew him at all, once he was settled on the couch with a warm drink in his hand he’d burst out with whatever the problem was regardless.

bucky doesn’t know when he started pretending, started lying. well, sure he knew when he started pretending—to like girls, to care about current events, to not care deeply about the state of his curls— but rather when he started pretending he isn’t desperately in love with steve.

the day after sarah died, bucky came to the rogers apartment and made himself a permanent fixture there. he didn’t intend to move in, only to keep steve from starving to death or drowning in his grief. he wasn’t pretending then, he didn’t need to be. when he laid in bed with steve and held him then, it wasn’t the act of a lover, necessarily. it was just the comfort steve needed. those days, those weeks, were not muted by the haze of a constant lie, but they blur together in bucky’s memory nonetheless.

when bucky came home one day to find steve simply stood in the middle of the small apartment, looking around as if he’d never seen the place before, bucky still wasn’t pretending.

“what’s the matter, bo?” bucky asked, shucking off his shoes, then his coat, and avoiding stepping on The Cat as she wound around his legs.

“i’m trying to figure out,” steve said, “when you moved in here.”

it wasn’t much, really, but it was enough to make bucky look around with the same dumbfounded look steve had had when he came home. when he came home. yes, it was steve’s childhood blanket thrown haphazardly across a half-made bed, but it was bucky’s that was draped across the back of the armchair he and steve had lugged up just two months prior.

and bucky simply couldn’t recall the last time he’d gone back to his parents’ house for clothes. he didn’t even know what would be left there if he did. maybe a nice suit for special occasions, maybe the black one he’s worn to sarah’s funeral. maybe nothing at all.

something squeezed in bucky’s chest then, wrapping itself around his heart and his lungs. surely… surely this was where steve would tell him it’s all too much and that bucky needed to move out. when their eyes met, however, steve said,

“you’re paying half the rent going forward” and bucky said,

“sure. sounds good to me.” and that was that.

maybe bucky had always been lying, just a little bit, because every night after the lights went out and after he and steve climbed into the only bed in the apartment, bucky would wrap himself around steve, and steve would burrow into bucky’s embrace. it’s just so cold bucky would tell himself, even in the height of summertime heat.

maybe bucky can pinpoint the exact moment he started actively lying to himself. not the date, but the event. something had woken him in the middle of the night. a loud neighbor, perhaps, or maybe just fitful sleep. steve was curled against bucky’s chest, his breath tickling against the skin of his chest where it was exposed. bucky’s hand, surely in his sleep, had found its way up the back of steve’s shirt. The Cat, when bucky had the courage to glance, was loafing on steve’s hip. bucky could feel the weight of steve’s leg shoved unconsciously between his, could feel his body expand with deep, sleepy breath, could feel silent, sobless tears beginning to streak sideways across his face.

this, he thought to himself in that moment as he hid his sorrow in steve’s hair. this is not romantic.

that became his mantra. every time steve would welcome him home, or would offer to cook dinner, or would—with poorly feigned reluctance— let The Cat into the apartment, bucky would remind himself: This Is Not Romantic.

maybe bucky was lying from the start, when he thought staying friends with steve was okay. then again, losing him would be so much worse.

so, bucky continues to remind himself, day after day, touch after touch, that This Is Not Romantic. after all, bucky barnes is Not in love with steve rogers.

It had been a while since Wanda had left and joined the Avengers.  Something that she tried so hard to get him to do, but it didn’t just feel right.  And he was proven right after the accords and what transpired in Germany.  If he had known what was going to happen, he would have been there.  He could have made sure Wanda was safe.  That she didn’t end up at the Raft.

He was probably lucky Steve had gotten there before Pietro could, it wouldn’t have been pretty.  But now he had no idea where they were, how to get in contact with Wanda or to just see if she was alright.

So he just continued to do what he thought was right.  Stopping crime all around world, masked like that weird Spider-Guy in New York.  Only Pietro obviously did it better.

And that was what he was doing when a certain ‘super’ person showed up in front of him.  He dropped the bloodied man to the ground as he turned to look at Kara, “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?  Your dad sent you to come throw me in his stupid prison too?”
