Gwen Stacy: Spider-Woman (Vol. 1) Issue #5
Below New York City, a young man with a flashlight roamed fresh caverns. Three small scorpion-like robots followed him. He had been bored and performing mundane tasks for the past week. Every day, he had to check these caverns and remain undetected by the Moloids. He spent most of his time at the underground base camp and recorded his findings through audio logs.
“Day six. This is Alchemax engineer Alistaire Alphonso Smythe reporting from the Subterranea research base. I am not enjoying the solitude. I don’t know why I am down here or what I’m looking for.”
Nearing evening, he was preparing dinner in his high-tech tent provided by the company. Outside, he heard something stirring. No one would be there this deep underneath New York City. The only living things that could make any sounds were the Moloids, but it had been days since he had any near encounters. He cautiously exited with a frying pan but was met with the point of a sword to his Adam’s apple.
In front of him was Spider-Woman, Spider-Wasp, and Adam Destine. Adam gestured with his scimitar for Alistaire to stand. Gwen looked at the engineer with aversion.
“Ugh,” she remarked. “Alistaire.”
Although frightened, the engineer raised an eyebrow. “Do you know me?”
“No. You have a nametag.”
“Are you in league with the Spider Queen, lad?” Adam asked.
“Who?”
“So we’re in that timeline.” He sheathed his sword. “Why are you down here?”
“I- I believe that’s classified. You shouldn’t be here, I think. This is a quarantined area.”
“Then why are you here?” Steph asked.
“I don’t… that’s classified too.”
Adam looked around. There were many paths ahead of them. He foresaw all the possible paths and where they would lead. Once he determined the route that led to the preferred future, he pointed down a dark and deep passageway.
“That is the way.”
Alistaire’s eyes widened. “What? That leads directly into Moloid territory. You can’t go down there.”
“If she is down there, I doubt the Moloids would stay.”
Adam was the first to venture deep into the darkness, followed by Steph. Alistaire remained and watched with trembling legs. Gwen aggressively swiped his sword from him and followed the others into the dark void.
Not long afterward, Alistaire heard a sound from his radio in the tent. He had been given it to keep in contact with his Alchemax superiors, but it had not been silent for days. The voice was a woman he had never heard before.
“Follow them, Mister Smythe.”
“B-But it’s dangerous.”
“You have the slayer exterminator bots Doctor Robles gave you. Head down there was collect DNA samples from the queen or else you will be blacklisted forever.”
Alistaire gulped. Looking down into the darkness, he feared his future and followed the heroes into danger. He felt like he would certainly die.
For the three heroes, it was a long, eerie descent into Subterranea. Adam was ready for anything to come and attack it. Steph was calm and fearless in the face of the unknown. On the other hand, Gwen fears finally meeting the Spider Queen.
“How do you know that guy?” Steph asked.
“What?”
“You know that guy? Alistaire, was it?”
“Why do you care?”
“I don’t. You need to talk. Spill it.”
“We dated. He left me for dead on the George Washington Bridge. I’m still not over it.”
“Coward.”
“Big time.”
“Silence comrades,” Adam announced. “We are here.”
Before them was a deep cliff illuminated by a massive web. The strands were approximately two feet in diameter. Large, pulsating, bioluminescent green egg sacs illuminated the darkness. Spiders the size of cows crawled through the web.
The group was ready for a fight—that is until they noticed Gwen had dropped the flashlight. They looked back at her and grew concerned by how tense she became and how her body shook. Suddenly, her body relaxed, but it was not Gwen.
“Spider?” Steph asked.
Gwen slowly lifted her head and replied, “She is mine now.”
Adam readied his sword. “Wretched fēond! Release her and do us battle this day!”
“I approach, but this vessel allows you to hear my words. With her so close, my control is indomitable.”
Steph extended one of her wrist-mounted blades. She was prepared to eliminate Gwen in this situation. However, Adam stopped her. She was confused but quickly gathered that this was not the path that would lead to their success. From within the vast shadows in front of them, they heard the echoes of loud thuds approach from afar.
“What is that?” Steph asked.
The Spider Queen through Gwen replied, “I am coming for you.”
Adam reading his scimitar. “I have slain many beasts in my time. This will not be a challenge.”
“I am no beast. I was once human, but I was experimented on by my old kind. They put something in me that made me change and grow. I became something more primal and vengeful. This world will be mine. Carl King spreads my cure for humanity and Infestation mutated him into my drones that are reproduced and carry venom that transforms the people into my drones. This will be a world of spiders.”
Steph had enough exposition. “No. You won’t get the chance.”
When she threw a punch, Gwen caught her wrist. The same result happened when she threw another. Her strength cracked the gauntlets, broke her blades, and shattered the welded-on web-shooters. This struggle was ended when Steph kicked her in the stomach. It was enough distraction for her to snatch Gwen’s web-shooters and push her into the pit below.
“Did I doom us?” She asked Adam.

Gwen Stacy: Spider-Woman (Vol. 1) Issue #4
Tumblr media
At Sims Labs, scientists examined the goop Spider-Woman brought in from the spider she crushed. The unconscious Anya Corazón lay on an examination table with a heart monitor while her blood was studied. She looked so sick.
“What’s going on?” Gwen asked worriedly. “Please tell me she’s not dying.”
“No,” Ezekiel Sims responded coldly, “she’s changing.”
“Changing?”
“Her DNA is being overwritten by new invasive DNA from the spider you crushed.”
“So, she’s gonna have spider powers?”
“Worse. I’ve heard of a similar occurrence. Years ago, Spider-Man’s DNA started to undergo drastic mutation from the method he gained his superhuman abilities. It began with the sudden growth of four extra arms. This is something different and more powerful. The new DNA will take over in a week. To make matters worse, several others have fallen to this plague but the spiders escaped or died.”
“What do we do?”
“Find the source, collect the venom, and bring it back for a cure.”
“And I might know who can find it.”
With the aid of Ezekiel Sims, Gwen obtained a recording of Spider-Wasp, the woman who attacked their lab. Next, she snuck into her father’s police precinct to track her down. She found a match belonging to Stephanie Shanahan. She was frequently seen near the abandoned Neponsit Beach Hospital in Queens and hurriedly traveled there quickly.
Stephanie, or “Steph,” as the others called her, entered the abandoned hospital. “Abandoned” may not be the correct term. The hospital was filled with members of the Sisterhood of the Wasp. They had knocked down walls and even ceilings to provide adequate space for training. Steph was highly regarded among them. The members would get on one knee and bow before her.
She approached a makeshift cell of rusty pipes holding a man in ragged clothing. There were plates of untouched and spoiled food. Even though he had not eaten in days, he did not look weak or famished. His shackles were chained to a nearby wall. His gaze was fixed on the sunlight through a barred broken window.
“How soon before the spiders take over?” She asked him.
“It will be soon and your sisterhood will fall,” the prisoner spoke with a unique British-like accent. Under his breath, he whispered, “Mægon þa gēatas ǣnig þas sāwle mid opene earmum onfēon.”
“How do we prevent it.”
“The Sisterhood’s fall is inevitable. The fall of humanity has one chance. I must go free and work with you and two others. The beast is strong and none of us can stop it alone.”
“Who are the others?”
The prisoner looked up. “She is the first.”
Steph looked up as well. An old air duct gave way and Spider-Woman fell to the ground. Adam smirked but Steph was enraged. She grabbed Gwen by the collar and held her up.
“You dare come here?!”
“Uh… miss me?” Gwen asked jokingly. “Why do you have someone caged in here?”
Screams and a commotion from the main training area broke up the moment. Trouble was brewing. Steph sneered and dropped Gwen.
“The queen can sense you. You led her minions here!”
“The Sisterhood will fall,” said the prisoner.
Steph remained angry but silent. She calmly walked away. Gwen was surprised that she was curious about why she was not going to help her compatriots, but she decided to do it herself. The prisoner was left alone once more.
“Where are you going?”
Steph looked back. “This is a battle. I’ll need armor.”
The Sisterhood of the Wasp was under attack by a swarm of large mutated insects. These creatures were the size of cats, fast, and bloodthirsty. The sisterhood members were fast, but they were overwhelmed by their numbers. The villain here was a pale-skinned woman with black hair and completely black eyes holding a jar of bugs. She seemed to take pleasure in the chaos. Gwen kicked open the door and joined the chaos.
“Time to squash some bugs.”
The villainess. “Macrothrax’s conqueror. I am much more than my brother, for I am Infestation.”
“Why are you both obsessed with exposition?”
The villainess smirked and three millipedes at Gwen. They mutated midair into carnivorous beasts as long as boa constrictors. She knocked one out of the way, but others wrapped around her arms and pulled. Infestation walked up.
“You will follow our queen, or die here with…”
The bug-loving baddie was suddenly grabbed and thrown through the weakened ceiling. This person wore honey-and-black-colored with round dark red lenses. She extended narrow, chainsaw-like blades from her wrists. She slashed through the millipedes with ease.
“I owe you,” Gwen graciously said.
“Thank me by fighting!”
“Steph?”
“It’s Spider-Wasp.”
“Where did you get that?”
“Stolen from Pym Technologies with some improvement from other stolen companies. Wanna arrest me? I’ll kick your ass.”
“Okay. Okay. You can keep it.”
“I also took some tech from Sims.”
Infestation got up and looked down through the hole she made. Steph shot webbing out of built-in web-shooters on her armor and pulled the ceiling down. The villainess fell over but kept her jar in hand. Gwen and Steph lunged at her, but she threw mutated beetles at them.
“Kill them Abner and Joaquim!”
Gwen and Steph fought the cow-sided beetle. Gwen was fending it off with her fists, but Steph had more weaponry. She charged her gauntlets with electricity and zapped the bug dead. She then aided Gwen by stabbing it with her blade.
“Have you ever beaten a villain?”
“I’m having a bad week! Okay?”
Before Infestation could mutate more bugs, Steph web-yanked her jar out of her hands. Gwen kicked her in the head, knocking her out. Steph looked around and saw no surviving members.
“I-I’m sorry,” Gwen said sincerely. “I wasn’t fast enough.”
“The truth is that you led them here,” Steph replied, shocking Gwen. “Don’t blame yourself. I don’t. I doubt you have much experience with telepaths. This was foretold, but they joined anyway. The only way we will avenge them is by stopping the queen.”
“... okay. Can we free your prisoner now?”
“I suppose there is no need.”
The two headed back to the cell, but the prisoner was gone. His shackles were unlocked, and the cell was open. There was no trace of him. Steph was shocked.
“How…?”
“A trick Houdini taught me,” he answered.
They saw the prisoner emerge from the shadows. He wore blue and gold medieval knight armor roughed up by time. A sheathed scimitar hung from his hip, and a rough bronze shield was on his left arm.
“Whoa! Who are you?”
“My name is Adam Destine of Clan Destine, milady. Now, let us slay this beast.”

The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) Issue #1
Tumblr media
In New York City, crime was thwarted by the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. He faced foes like the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and the Kingpin. He loved and lost. Now he seemed happy. He finally married the love of his life and Norman Osborn, who secretly operated as the Green Goblin, was incarcerated. There were even other heroes with spider powers, so the workload was not all on him. He served a mentor role to them for the most part.
In Queens, they moved into a house close to his Aunt May. He helped carry boxes in while his wife was on a call with her boss at the Van Dyne Design Studio. The heavy boxes were easy for someone with his super strength. He set the boxes in the correct locations. Soon this would be their home.
“Peter, can you come downstairs?” MJ called.
Once downstairs, he asked, “something wrong?”
“May called. She said it looks like someone broke in.”
“I’ll check it out.”
Peter left his house and headed for Aunt May’s house. On the way, he could not shake the feeling someone was watching him. His spider-sense was not triggered, so he shrugged it off.
Aunt May’s house had seen better days. The door had been ripped open. Aunt May was on the front lawn talking to the police. Peter was glad she was unharmed.
“What happened?” he asked when she was available.
“I came home with groceries and found someone broke into the house.”
“It’s very odd,” the officer chimed in. “The perp didn’t take any money or valuables, just tore through your old bedroom and smashed all the photographs of you. Do you have any enemies, Mister Parker?”
That was a list longer than Peter could admit. Ever since he was fifteen, he had collected a large rogues gallery. Being a few years from turning thirty, he is glad that he has taken the steps towards retiring.
“I used to take pictures of Spider-Man years ago, so there might be a few.”
“I’d take some precautions in case this sicko visits your house.”
“Thanks, officer…”
“Carter. Stanley Carter,” he turned to Aunt May. “I’d also advise you to find a place to stay for now.”
“You can stay with me and MJ.”
“That’s very sweet Peter, but I think it would be better to stay with Anna.”
This was serious. Someone was looking for him, and they were dangerously close. None of his enemies has gotten this close—except Norman Osborn. However, Norman was in prison, and he knew it for sure. So, who could want to hurt Peter Parker?
Later that evening, Peter was up late looking for a late-night snack, while Mary Jane worked late at the design studio. As he looked through the fridge, he felt the same eerie feeling as before, but stronger. It was not quite his spider-sense, but rather human instinct. He turned around and saw it. Across the room, there was a man dressed in a black version of his costume with blood-red lenses. They stared at each other in silence for a few minutes.
“Who are you?”  This was spoken, but not by Peter but oddly by this intruder.
“I should be asking you that.”
The intruder rushed Peter, grabbed him by the collar, and pinned him to the refrigerator, then screamed “WHO ARE YOU!?”
Peter shoved this imposter off of him and punched him hard in the face. He ran for the front door to get some distance so he could put on his costume, but his feet were pulled out from underneath him. This masked intruder had webs too. As he was slowly pulled back toward this foe, Peter knocked a vase off a table to throw it into the face of this imposter. It was a successful distraction, allowing him to get to the front door.
He was about to leave when his foe kicked him hard in the back. He swerved over the lawn and landed in the street. It hurt, but he had suffered worse. He flipped on his back and stared at the imposter slowly approaching him. He started to scoot back on his elbows.
“One more chance,” said the imposter, “WHO!? ARE!? YOU!?”
Long spikes extended from his wrists.
“Spider-Man can’t do that.”
The imposter yelled out in rage and charged at Peter to kill him. However, he took two steps into the road and Mary Jane hit him with her car. He tumbled and seemed to fall unconscious. She swung the car door open and checked on Peter.
“My hero,” he joked.
“Are you okay?
“Yeah. You… well, you did see the other guy.”
The imposter got up and popped his arm back into its socket. He was about to attack Peter, maybe even Mary Jane, but something like an implant sent a shock into his nervous system. He retreated and ran back towards the city.
“Who was that?”
Peter watched the imposter run away. “I don’t know. I’m not sure if he was after me or Spider-Man.”

Gwen Stacy: Spider-Woman (Vol. 1) Issue #3
Tumblr media
A young man stood alone in a Manhattan bank. His hands trembled in his pockets, and nervous sweat ran down his face. This man’s name was Adam Webber, and he was there to rob the bank.
It was not a well-planned crime, but a desperate one. He needed the money for his family and was out of options. Due to a previous incarceration, he could not find work. No one trusted him. He did not want to rob the bank, but he was trying to work up the courage.
The situation took a turn when the main doors were blown off their hinges. Everyone now looked at a costumed criminal with a high-tech blaster. His costume was mostly black but also white, and he had yellow eyes. On his belt were several buttons that had some function.
“The name is Clash,” this villain announced, “and I am here for all your money. No one is a hero.”
Security guards rushed in and ordered him to surrender. Instead, Clash pressed a button on his belt. Loud audio feedback played through the speakers. Everyone, including Adam and the security guards, collapsed in pain and covered their ears. Clash was unaffected and walked towards the vault.
Unlike Adam, Clash had planned this crime well. He had planned a way to break into the vault. With a press of another button, he set off a hidden sonic weapon within. It was far more powerful than his sonic blaster, making the vault door burst outward with great force. It tumbled end-over-end. It was stopped with a lot of webbing. No one was harmed.
Clash was in the vault collecting as much money as he could carry. All of it was put in a sack slung over his shoulder, a cliche to be sure. When he turned around, there was Spider-Woman with headphones to block out the deafening sound. She used her webbing to yank the sack out of his hands. With both of them unable to hear, she did not give him a quip, but rather just flipped him off.
He pointed his sonic blaster at her, but she web-yanked it out of his hand, then swung it back to hit him in the face. She webbed him to the wall, but he activated a sonic pulse from his suit that freed him and required Gwen to retreat. He picked up his blaster and followed her into the main lobby.
Gwen stuck to the top of a high wall and waited for Clash to see her, then flipped him off with both hands. He shot at her, but she swung to safety. As she passed a speaker, she webbed it up. This sequence continued until all the speakers were blocked and the feedback was silenced. The security guards were able to recover and surround Clash. Gwen landed in front of him.
“It’s over, knock-off Shocker,” Gwen quipped.
“I still have more tricks up my sleeve.”
Gwen’s spider-sense went off and she lept high. Clash activated a powerful sonic burst from his costume to knock down security. He made a break outside, where Captain George Stacy and the police were waiting. Rather than surrendering, the villain turned up the power on his blaster and fired a blast strong enough to flip a cop car. It almost landed on Captain Stacy, but Gwen caught it. She set it down safely.
“He is going to pay for that,” she said to herself before giving chase.
Back in the bank, Adam opened his eyes, but his ears were still ringing. When he lifted his head, he noticed his gun had fallen on the ground. He grabbed it, but then a relatively large spider crawled on his hand. It bit him and caused him pain like two bullet holes. He shook the spider off and ran off with his gun in his pocket.
In the meantime, Clash ran into an alley. Gwen followed, but then Adriana paralyzed her once again. Oddly, it was starting to feel pleasant. When his visage manifested and stroked her chin, she felt bliss but fought against it.
“The time is nearly here,” her queen said softly in her ear. “Join me and-”
Adriana expressed a feeling of great pain then vanished a second before Clash’s sonic weapon hit Gwen. He escaped into the sewers. When Gwen followed, it was too dark and quiet to track him. She sighed and left.
Not long after, Gwen returned to her civilian clothes and headed to her apartment. She could not shake the thoughts about her current situation. What was the plan of her self-titled queen? She needed to find a way to break from her control.
Gwen opened the door and was shocked to find Anya Corazón unconscious on the floor with a large spider biting her neck. It jumped at her, but she crushed it into a turquoise gooey mess in her hand. She knelt next to her friend.
“Anya!?”
In the sewers, Clash was lost and wandered around with only the light emitted from her yellow lenses. Soon he spotted a large spider, then a second. He set his gaze higher and saw a human figure in the distance and thousands upon thousands of spiders heading his way. He screamed at took shots at them, but there were too many. He ran away from them as fast as he could while the shadowy figure grinned brightly.

Gwen Stacy: Spider-Woman (Vol. 1) Issue #2
Tumblr media
Gwen Stacy and her roommate Anya Corazón had the same day off. They decided to play the online game Timely Rivals. The last few years, they were good friends and tried to spend time together when scheduling permitted.
“Why are we playing this again?” Gwen asked.
“Because you like John Steele.”
As they played, Gwen’s phone buzzed. She paused and flipped it over. The caller was Ezekiel Sims. She was visibly confused.
“Who’s that?” Anya asked.
“An old friend. I have to take this.” She takes the phone into her bedroom and answers. “Mister Sims?”
“Miss Stacy,” he replied. “I need you to come to the lab.”
“Really? Is this an emergency?”
“You were requested by our unusual guest.”
She sighed. “What?”
“Just come and come dressed in your suit.”
“Fine.”
Gwen felt bad leaving like this, as she had not had much time for her friends lately, but she knew Ezekiel Sims, and he would not ask her to come unless it was necessary. She packed her costume, told Anya she had to go see her dad, and headed to see Ezekiel Sims.
They had met years ago when she was twenty years old. In a taxi with her then-boyfriend crossing the George Washington Bridge, the villainous Green Goblin appeared and started blowing up cars. Her boyfriend left her alone. She got to see Spider-Man battle the green menace, but a stray bomb blew up and flipped the car off the bridge. When it hit the ground, everything went dark.
Hours later, Gwen awoke from a coma in intensive care. It seemed impossible that she had survived. Ezekiel Sims visited her and informed her that he found her during the battle and used an experimental serum to save her life. This serum helped her heal faster, but also gave her powers like Spider-Man. Ezekiel trained her but left her alone once she had mastered her abilities. While he checked in on her occasionally to make sure there were no unfortunate side effects, they would go months without talking.
In the present, she arrives at Sims Labs in her Spider-Woman persona. Security gives her directions. She must take an elevator to the underground levels, where there is more secure containment. Whatever Ezekiel is doing has to be dangerous.
The lab was remarkably ordinary, a real letdown for Gwen. Ezekiel stood behind a scientist on a computer. She walked to them. Their focus was on a large spider in transparent containment in the center of the room.
“Did you bring me here to see the world’s most dangerous spider?” She asked sarcastically.
“In a way, yes,” Ezekiel responded. “Meet the last lingering fragment of Carl King, better known as The Thousand.”
“That teenage bully that turned into a colony of spiders that ate people?”
“The very same.”
“I thought he died?”
“Most of him did, but this part remained.”
“How did you one villainous spider in New York City?”
“The internet is full of crazy stories, but one of a spider writing words in a web at a hospital caught my eye.”
“And I’m assuming he’s the one who asked for me?”
“You’d be correct.”
“So… can he speak or is someone here a spider whisperer?”
“A colleague, Doctor Donald Josten, modified the designs of Henry Pym’s EMP communication device so that he could talk to spiders. I’m using it to converse with Mister King.”
“What does he want to say to me?”
“Take a look.”
She stood next to Ezekiel behind the computer screen. The spider turned towards them and she could feel its eyes staring at her. Text appeared on the screen that read, “Have you felt it?”
“What is it talking about?” asked Ezekiel.
“I don’t know exactly.”
More text appeared. “She has been calling for us. Some lady with a sexy voice. She wants us. Let me out.”
“After all the things you did? No.”
“She is coming. I can feel it. And you know it.”
Deep down, Gwen could feel something. It was a pull and it scared her.
Meanwhile, three black SUVs pulled up to the building. Strange women in black tactical clothing and black and yellow face paint headed inside. Security tried to stop them, but they knew martial arts and easily knocked them out. They cut the alarm and held hostages.
“I will kill the carrier,” the leader informed her followers. “Remain here until I have finished our mission.”
“Yes, Sister Spider-Wasp.”
The leader opened the elevator doors and dropped down the shaft. Next, she cut a hole in the top of the elevator. She was on the same floor as Spider-Woman and Ezekiel Sims. Soon, she found the lab.
“Um, Mister Sims, who is that?” Gwen asked pointing to the face-painted woman approaching the Carl King spider with a look of intent.
“Now I will finish our mission,” Spider-Wasp said to herself.
Short blades extended from her wrist gauntlets and pierced through the spider’s clear containment like it was made of butter. The creature moved out of the way. She ripped the top off and was about to smash the arachnid, but had to use the container instead to block Gwen’s webbing.
“I don’t know what your beef is, but we use our words here.”
“Another insolent spider.”
Gwen ran at the adversary. Each punch she threw was dodged, but Spider-Wasp’s blows were faster. She tried to block, but this new enemy found a way to weaken her guard. Her strength was almost on par with Gwen’s. How could this be?
While this scuffle was going on, the Carl King spider was attempting an escape. It crawled toward a sink. A lab technician tried to grab it, but they were bitten and injected with its paralyzing venom. Another tried to trap it under a beaker, but it jumped and bit them too. It was close now.
“Spider-Woman!” Ezekiel shouted. “Get the spider!”
Gwen tried to grab him, but when she got close she felt her muscles stiffen. She was paralyzed like a statue. All she could do was watch as the spider crawled down the drain. The vision of Adriana Soria sat on a nearby desk.
“You fight the inevitable, my spider,” she said seductively. She delicately stroked Gwen’s chin, and the spider-themed vigilante could feel it. “You cannot change what is to come  and you be my champion in the new world.”
Ezekiel grabbed Gwen’s shoulder and she fell to her knees. Adriana was gone. She took deep breaths.
“What happened?” He asked.
“Someone was in my mind.” She got help from Ezekiel to stand. “Where is that Assassin’s Creed cosplayer?”
“She left after Mister King escaped. I have something to show you.”
He took her to the computer screen used to translate for Carl King. It had recorded everything Adriana had said to Gwen. Her eyes widened and she looked at Ezekiel.
“What is going on?”
In the sewers, the Carl King spider crawled out of a pipe. A gray hand reached down with the palm up. When it crawled into her hands, she lifted it to her face and smiled. Her eyes were pitch black.
“We have plans for you.”

Gwen Stacy: Spider- Woman (Vol. 1) Issue #1
Tumblr media
In an undisclosed location, a woman in a prison jumpsuit was strapped to a table in a dimly lit lab. She was experiencing high levels of distress and terror. She looked around and saw a pair of glowing pink circles staring at her from the shadows.
“I wouldn’t struggle, Miss Soria” the stranger spoke in a deadpan tone. “You do not want me to increase the level of restraints. I’d rather have you intact for the procedure.”
The prisoner managed to grab a hold of a scalpel and secretly started cutting at her leather restraints.
“What are you…”
“You will help progress my research. You might become a goddess among men.”
“Might?”
“If it fails, then death will be your mercy.”
Soria’s cutting quickened. Her efforts were not as discrete as she had wished. A flat, metallic tentacle shot out from the darkness and grabbed her wrist with two prong fingers, startling her enough to drop the scalpel. Another tentacle slowly approached and needles extended from the tips of the prongs. They clamped down on her neck, injecting her with something. The tentacles then returned to the shadows.
The mysterious stranger pulled a tape recorder and spoke into it, “Genus Formula experiment fifteen of the second variant. I await to see what spectacular mutagenic effect will unfold. I hope to replicate the powers of New York’s Spider-Man.”
Soria felt sick and dizzy. She was going in and out of consciousness. What followed were seizure-like convulsions that the stranger only quietly observed. Her bones were cracking while her skin grayed, hardened, and stretched. She was going through a monstrous mutation.
“Spectacular indeed,” escaped the scientist’s lips.
Soria’s restraints broke and something big struck the scientist into a wall. Guards rushed with automatic rifles. Whatever Soria had been turned into, it tore a hole through the ceiling. The scientist was attended to.
“Tell Stone that we have an outbreak.”
In Manhattan, Gwen Stacy was working at Harris-Webster Records. While arranging the vinyl records, she listened to the song "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden on her headphones, which were wrapped in duct tape and painted neon colors. Her appearance showed a passion for Metal and Punk culture as well as graffiti art, with pink and turquoise dyed streaks in her hair and a Motörhead tank top under her unbuttoned white flannel shirt.
Someone entered the store without her noticing. He was a young man about her age wearing a hand-me-down shirt for the Headsmen band. He saw her was quietly walked up to her while she was rocking out to her music. When the time was right, he pulled on one of the headphone ears and joked, “This isn’t workplace behavior.” Gwen looked at him and her eyes lit up.
“Jimmy!”
Gwen cupped his face and kissed him, an expression of affection that he returned. This was Jimmy Germaine, her boyfriend. They shared a love for music and met at a concert. There were no secrets between them, not even about her activities as the vigilante Spider-Woman.
“I know what today is, so I got you this,” Jimmy held up a record.
Gwen gasped. “The Last in Line by Dio!? Now I know you love me.”
“I do my best,” he smirks.
A black-haired young woman came in from the back room. She rolled her eyes and stood behind the counter. She was a fan of Punk fashion.
“Get a room you two.”
Gwen smirked. “As if you and Jordan don’t do this, Andi.”
“Heh. Touché.”
They were interrupted by police cars speeding down the street. Both Gwen and Jimmy knew what this meant. She sighed and returned the record to her boyfriend.
“Slid this under my door. Thanks again. Andi, can you cover my shift?”
“Emergency?”
“Yeah.”
“Sure. Why not?” Andi started to listen to music on her Roxxpod.
Jimmy held her hand and gave her a worried look. “Are you sure Silk or one of the Spider-Men can’t handle this?”
“I can’t take the chance that they don’t know. Don’t worry, I’ll be safe.” She gave him a quick kiss and then ran out the door.
Several blocks down the street, citizens fled from a swarm of insects. The cause was an armored villain with a one-eyed helmet. He proudly proclaimed “I am Mactrothrax, master of all insects! We shall make this city into a bug-topia!”
Tumblr media
Any police officer who tried to arrest him was overwhelmed by the swarms. One woman was surrounded and climbed on a hot dog car. Before they got to her, Gwen, in her vigilante persona as Spider-Woman, rescued her. Her white and black outfit included a hood and a customized white leather jacket. With her webbing, she swung her out of danger.
“Don’t worry. He won’t bug you now.”
“Thank you so much.” She kissed her cheek.
Under her white mask, Gwen was blushing. “Y-y-y-your wel-welcome.” She swung back towards the villain. “Why’d she have to be hot?”
Macrothrax saw her and shouted, “Spider-Woman! Have you come to join our cause? We are both bugs of the same hive and we must serve the same queen.”
Gwen landed on the hood of a police car. “First, spiders are not bugs. Second, I don’t follow any queen, Mac. Who is this queen?”
“Have you not heard her call? She speaks through our minds and asks for our help. We are her servants.”
“That’s great. Really. Why don’t you save it for the orderlies.”
Macrothrax extended his arms and swarms of insects flew out of his armor at Gwen. She lept into the air and swung away, but they followed her every move like a heat-seeking missile. With her webs, she tossed a manhole cover at it, but it did nothing but knock a few out of the air.
“Where is Electro when you need him? I could use a bug zapper.”
She ran into a building and webbed the door shut so the bugs could not follow her. Next, she ran to the back of the building. Macrothrax was now outside, still monologuing.
“You cannot run from the siren song of our queen. She calls for us. We must heed-”
He was cut off when Gwen swung around the block and kicked him in the side of the head.
“You have serious issues, Mac.”
“You cannot silence the truth! She is coming and she will bring glorious-”
He was finally knocked out with a hard punch to the face.
“You seem pretty silent to me.”
The police were able to arrest him and strip him of his armor. He was identified as William Vuong, a mutant who could control and communicate with insects. As he was placed in the back of a police cruiser, he looked at her and said, “She sees you now.” Something about that sent chills down her spine.
Gwen went to her apartment. It seemed like Jimmy had followed her advice and slid the Dio album under her door. In her living room, she had a vintage record player. Once it started playing, she laid on her and looked at her phone messages. There were some from Jimmy, Miles Morales, and her father George. After the first track, someone knocked on the door.
“Jimmy?”
Gwen answered the door and it was her father. She could tell he had been concerned, but that was soon replaced by happiness and possibly a hint of grief. Both of them could hear the music.
“Hi marshmallow,” he greeted her.
“Hey, dad.”
He looked at the record player. “That was her favorite.”
“Yeah. Jimmy found it.”
“I was more of a country fan, but we got along well.”
“Yeah.”
His eyes drop. “I miss her.”
“Me too.”
George embraced her daughter and she hugged back. They let tears run down their faces. This day was the birthday of Helen Stacy, Gwen’s mother. She sadly died from pancreatic cancer when Gwen was twelve. Every year they would visit her grave to spend time with her.
“Just let me get something from my room before we go,” she wiped her eyes and went to her room. She looked inside her desk drawer and found a photograph of her family. It included herself, her parents, and an older brother.
“You all seemed so happy,” someone said.
Gwen was surprised and saw the beautiful Adriana Soria in a black silk dress standing by her window. Her first instinct was to ball up her fists and prepare for a fight, but something came over her. It was like a calming bliss that relaxed her muscles. The photo fell on the ground.
Tumblr media
“Who are you?”
“Macrothrax told you. I am your queen.”
“My… queen?”
“That’s right. I am new to this power, but it compels me to build a colony starting with this city.”
“You want to take over the city?”
“I need to. I am not as I was. I am driven by instinct.”
Gwen wanted to move but was so relaxed and unable to move a muscle. “I won’t let you.”
“You will help me, whether you mean to or not. You will be my warrior. I just need my carrier first.”
“What?”
Adriana pushed Gwen against the door. Her legs gave way and she fell to the floor. She looked up and the woman was gone as if she was never there. It was a mystery she knew would need to unravel.
“Gwen,” her dad called, “are you alright?”
“Yeah. Yeah. I’m fine.” She was now able to move. She grabbed her photo and stood up. “I just had to do a thorough search.”
Gwen left her room to accompany her father to the cemetery. She had many questions, but she knew they would be answered soon. The queen would return.

A Marvel Worlds one-shot: Hawk to Dove
In Omega Hangar of the Peak space station, the once infamous space pirate Corsair was heading to his spaceship The Leppard with a little girl in his arms. It was his four-year-old granddaughter Rachel. His son Scott and daughter-in-law Jean let her stay for the weekend and he couldn’t be happier.
Rachel loved her Grandpa Corsair and Grandma Hepzibah. They let her do things her parents wouldn’t, such as eating pizza from the cafeteria or candy. Corsair tried to be sneaky about it since her mother was an Omega-level telepath. Nevertheless, he always tried to make their visits fun.
Onboard the Leppard, he had her brush her teeth, waited for her to get into her Little Wizards pajamas, and then tucked her into bed. She smiled sweetly at him, which he returned with a smile over his own. Her eyes moved to a hanging picture of the original Starjammers. “Pappy, who are they?”
Corsair looked. “Oh, that’s my old crew.” “Where are they?” “Well, we used to be pirates, like in that movie your dad likes. We used to steal from the bad guys and give to the poor, like that cartoon movie I showed you with the fox. When I heard you were born, your grandma and I left to be closer.” “Do you miss them?”
“Of course, but I stay in contact. They are still out there, keeping up the good fight.” “Do you miss that too?”
“No. I have more important things in my life. Now, go to sleep.”
“I love you, pappy.” “I love you too, best pal.” With those final words, he turned off the bedroom lights and left her alone to sleep.

Name Needed
I am planning a tech genius street-level OC who has a light-hearted Spider-Man personality but with Batman-ish gadgets. He had a name once but it isn’t good anymore. I’m looking for a better one. All I got so far is Cypher. Is that okay or are there better ones?

The Seithyr profiles: M.A.D.-013/Maddie
Tumblr media
Background
A military action drone found outside New Malmer City. She was upgraded with programming that granted her a higher level of artificial intelligence, able to think and feel emotions. After her new friends leave her for dead in ruins, she finds a magic gem that she substitutes for her own energy source. It grants her magical abilities, making her a robot sorceress.
Personality
Originally cold and emotionless, she was upgraded with a sophisticated random emotion chip after being brought to Malmer City. She became very positive and optimistic. Unfortunately her openly trusting personality lead her to be left for dead by Davis. Now she is reserved and quiet, but retains a heart of gold.
Abilities
Maddie’s body is made for combat. She is very durable, strong, and equipped with hidden weapons. Her eyes were designed with telescopic vision for distant targets. Following her arrival in Malmer City, she was enhanced to be faster and more agile.
The magic gem inside her grants her great power. She can make objects out of hard light, including shields, ropes, weapons, and bolts of energy. These objects are weak to any object that absorbs magic.
Notes
Colleen O'Shaughnessey is the headcannon voice for her.
She is based on Marvel Comics’ Doctor Strange.

The Seithyr
The Seithyr is a sci-fi fantasy shared universe I’m developing as a side project to Wicked World. It is like a mix of Dungeons & Dragons and a futuristic world. There are robot magic users and high tech knights.
History of the Universe
The Seithyr is a world full of magic and fantasy creatures. In another universe, humans in a high tech future were looking for resources. Their scientists constructed a gateway to the Seithyr to mine and harvest whatever they wanted. It worked too well and the universe’s converged into one and most of humanity vanished. Many years later, the people have learned to wield their new access to technology. Meanwhile the United Human Forces fight to conquer their new home.
Stories planned so far
Kingdom of Dragons: A series following the mysterious Metyre, his wife, and the drakons.
Knights of Dyr: A series following the beastial knights of the Dyr Kingdom.
Technomancy: A reprogrammed, human-built combat robot MAD-013 or “Maddie ends up with a magical power source that makes her the mystical protector of her new home. She faces demonic AIs and dark magic users.
Untitled human story

Revisiting Creature Commandos
With the ending of Creature Commandos, I thought I’d take another look at the fan fic. As I looked over my roster I thought “should I put Cheetah on the Creature Commandos?”
