Shout out to Robert Rath and Fall of Cadia for making all the space marine characters a) vainglorious idiots b) vainglorious MEGA SUPER idiots or c) so wrapped up in their own personal drama and/or codes of honor that they were functionally useless until it was too late. I think Rath should be the only author allowed to write space marines until GW remembers they are supposed to be deconstructions of fascist military ideals and not superheroes.

Rest in power, Joey. I cannot believe it’s already been three years without you. It seems like yesterday I was sobbing in the Colton’s bathroom when the news broke 🙁 I love you so much sweet angel 🖤

for a couple moments while rewatching 9 i was questioning. is 9 still my favourite ff? theres some aspects that didnt age well or felt incomplete. but when you follow the whole story, see these cute and silly characters suffer and see where certain things are heading, and then you watch the ending sequence with the heart killing combo of vivis letter, zidane and garnets reunion and memories of life, it all feels worth it. no other ff hits me with such raw real feeling as 9 does, not from the ones ive played so far anyway. sure you have the very real environmentalism and grief in 7, and the rebellion against politicized religion in 10, both very real world themes too. but death is the realest thing of it all isnt it. i know it sounds super cheesy but even im capable of being heartfelt sometimes. and that, coupled with the charm and bittersweetness this game exudes, is why 9 is my favourite ff

Thursday, July 27: Angela Martyr, "Negative Youth"
Blackgaze had a moment around the early to mid ‘10s, but although that sound ultimately coalesced around only two or three bands, the musical touchstones associated with the scene seeped into other corners of the genre, to the point where Italy’s Angela Martyr was simply called “metalgaze”. Silly as that term was, it mostly fit numbers like “Negative Youth”, which married the distortion and creamy melodies of classic Jesus & Mary Chain to doom riffing, industrial backbeats and slightly thrashy vocals. This was the sort of thing that should’ve sounded discordant and senseless, but Morgan Bellini pulled it off, as the ebb and flow of the track made intuitive sense and made for a compelling listen. Bellini essentially ran Angela Martyr as a one-man band, but the breadth of his capabilities came into full view on “Negative Youth” and positioned Angela Martyr as an intriguing new presence on the scene.

Which tragic death will you suffer?
the betrayal
you die at the hands of the person you love most. maybe there are tears in their eyes as they drive the sword into your chest, maybe there is none. there are certainly tears in yours. your mouth will open to ask 'why' only to spit blood instead. you will die never knowing if they loved you at all, wondering if you could've done something to prevent this, or if it was always going to end this way.
