I don't know which I find more interesting, an episode in which something terrible happens to the person telling it, or one in which they watch someone else tumble into the depths of darkness. Both are fascinating. There's something to say about others being unknowable.
The perspective of, if I recall that correctly, her roommate's boyfriend (?) adds distance to what happens to her, so we can only guess.
But what shines through is very tragic: The woman used to have faith, which presumably had her feel close to (the) light (of God), and following a big personal loss, descended wholly into darkness, literally. And no one around her seems to be able to help her, and when they try harder, it's too late.
I said in another post that I can deal with uncertainty, and yet the thing I'm going to quote (I looked up the transcripts for that) was really ominous:
“No, but you're a natural for Them. You're worshipping as we speak.”
What a thing to be told, that you are, right in this moment, worshipping something that turned your friend into someone you're scared of, and scared for. Damn. I'm intrigued.

MAG 37 “Burnt Offering” review: man, this is heavy…..
We start off with Sims grilling Martin about the movers, but lost importantly there’s a soft moment between him and Martin when Martin tells him he needs to sleep. But onto the statement:
This one was not as scary as others, but it definitely had good creepy vibes. There’s something menacing about how he didn’t describe what fire-related incident happened to his wife which makes the whole thing worse as you have to imagine what happened yourself. Most importantly, the photo in the glass jars surrounding the clearing are of Gertrude, Sim’s predecessor.
The same Gertrude who died at the same time of an incident in an earlier,m statement, though for the life of me I can’t remember which. I’d have to look through the transcripts and I can’t bring myself to muster up enough energy to read through them. Typing out that sentence made me feel like I want to do it out of spite so I’ll be back.
Okay, after combing through some transcripts I found that in MAG 25 “Growing Dark”, Gertrude Robinson died May 15th, 2015, the same day that police were called out to investigate the weird chapel that the vampire cult lived in, on account of neighbors hearing screams. I don’t think this has any connection to today’s Statement but I like to keep things connected. Gertrude…..what was your damage? Overall, this episode has a 6/10 for me, could’ve been scarier, will burn down a random man’s life again.
Statement ends.

I was listening to MAG 25 Growing Dark.
And while the whole cult bit sounds creepy and all I just can't get trough the fact that the monster of the Dark is called Mr. Pitch.
Like make something scary and then strip it away by giving a silly name to it.
Also it's not an official name, that's just what Natalie said

You know how the dark also symbolizes ignorance? (No that’s not the stranger shut up-)
Nathalie saying “why, but you’re worshipping them as we speak!” Is just her calling Cathy a dumb bitch

The weirdest thing Jonathan Sims and Arthur Lester have in common is that they both made a guy explode by asking too many questions 🥰🥰🥰

MAG 25 “Growing Dark” review:
oooooohhhh second vampire(?) episode!!! I loved the guys from the first vampire set, but these guys seem different. Vampire-worshippers maybe? This was just a really cool episode. The church moment gave me Emesis Blue vibes funny enough.
Key moment of the episode: a month after the statement, neighbors of the church hear screaming after 11. The same day, may 15 2015, the predecessor of Sims “passed away”. Also, the town the vampire cult moved to was in Norway—isn’t there something to do with the evil library with awful books in Norway? There might be something there. I give this episode 8/10.
Statement ends.

Round One Part Seven - Match 56
Look, I think about The Show Must Go On a lot. I'm a Stranger fan, I can't help it. Just unscrewing your light bulbs a little is an incredibly funny avatar move, though.
