i was planning to post a fully rendered version on valentines day but i like the sketch a lot and im impatient so here

My best (worst) tma headcanon is that in mag 200 when Jon struts up to Jonah/Elias in the Panopticon and he tells the Eye to "release him," the Eye doesn't just release Jonah from it's grasp, it also releases Elias from Jonah.

So then we get a very confused, very disoriented Elias, sort of Separating away from Jonah over the next few minutes.

It starts with a very confused Elias, not really understanding where he is or what's happening

Then it flips back to Jonah, attempting to maintain control and Villain Monologue as is his prerogative as a melodramatic asshole

Then it's back to Elias, realizing he's about to die and not understanding why or what's happening, only that Jon is about to kill him and that he's Scared.

And finally, once again Elias, dying but in his final moments wishing Jon luck with whatever it is he's doing, not fully understanding the scope of things, but understanding what Jonah was and what he had done, and understanding that they had to die for it all.

Love that the vast majority of people listening to the Magnus Protocol right now are coming already from the Magnus Archives and so we’re rocking up like it’s the hunger games or something like-

if i nickel for every time a frail (,queer,) thirtyish year old man with way too much curiosity for his own good and a dead female assistant with round glasses nearly died in an explosion and came back as something not quite human because of the nature of the forces he was messing with and later on became a lowkey jesus figure with his new powers...

edit: and then was killed by his partner for the perceived greater good, fulfilling a promise they had made earlier

EDIT: AND HAD A "WHERE YOU GO I GO" TYPE SITUATION WITH THEIR PARTNER IN A TOWER WHERE THEY BOTH AMBIGUOUSLY KIND OF DIED TOGETHER TO SAVE THE WORLD

There is some so insanely heartbreaking to me about Jonathan Sims and the way the statements were recorded. They were all originally handwritten which is such a very human thing, using your own flesh and blood write something down, just the amount of effort and emotion that goes into that. And then Jon had to digitize them using a tape recorder, definitely a lot less human as it’s now batteries and tape but still human enough since it’s using his voice. And now he’s fully inhuman, robotic, stuck in a computer, where there used to be blood and skin and bone there is now plastic and wires and a screen.

I’m currently studying funeral services and in my embalming textbook it talks about how one woman phrased it like “a dead body is an object, but it is an object unlike any other object, cannot be like any other object, because this object used to be alive” and I really like that, it feels comforting, it feels human. Jon doesn’t get this though, he was terrified of being inhuman and he doesn’t even get to be human in this “somewhere else” he doesn’t get to be an object that used to be alive, he is just an object, like a pencil that wrote down the original statements, or the tape recorder that used to record them, and now the computer.
