I definitely pray to dionysus a lot for my mental health, stuff like letting myself go about the day with a better mindset. he's usually the first one I go to when I'm having a really hard time

I pray to hermes for good luck with school and better communication! i also tend to turn to him for good luck with discounts too

i pray to aphrodite whenever i'm trying to focus on self love and accepting myself (and others) for who i/they are! she helps me give people more grace and patience, if im being honest

i pray to nemesis whenever someone is wronged, she's helped me be stricter about my own morals! i haven't worshipped her for as long as the others but she's definitely helping me with my (for lack of a better word) darker side

Manifestations: Dionysus typically manifests in the form of a man, lion, bull, or goat. He is the horned Green Man, crowned with snakes. He is sometimes described as androgynous or effeminate with long, beautiful, dark, wavy or curly hair. Dionysus is wine: by drinking wine, one shares the sacrament of Dionysus’ body.

Iconography: He is sometimes venerated in the form of a huge phallus.

Attributes: His primary attribute was the thyrsus: a wand (originally a fennel stalk) topped with a pinecone; also cymbals, frame drums, and other percussion instruments.

Sacred animals: Leopards and panthers, snakes, mules, donkeys, goats, and lions

Mount: Dionysus rides a chariot drawn by griffins.

Plants: Grapevines, ivy, walnut trees, fig trees

Colors: Purple, wine

Spirit allies: Dionysus only wants to be alone when he’s hungover. He is a gregarious, friendly spirit usually surrounded by aretinue including devotees, sacred animals, and other deities. His allies include:

• Apollo

• Demeter and Persephone

• Hekate

• Kybele

• Pan

• Satyrs

• Semele

• Silenus

Sacred site: Dionysus eventually became Apollo’s altar-equal at Delphi, taking over the shrine in winter. He was considered Apollo’s opposite, representing hot ecstatic energy rather than Apollo’s cold rationalism. The coasts of southern Italy are allegedly among Dionysus’ favorite places.

Sacred days: Devotion to Dionysus once dominated Greek winters. In Athens, he was honored by four festivals:

• Dionysia (end of November/beginning of December)

• Lenea (approximately one month later)

• Anthesteria (end of January)

• Great Dionysia (end of February)

Idk, I think revelry can include play, which means having spontaneous fun can be a devotional act to Dionysus. Go ahead, jump in that pile of leaves. Throw that Thing into the body of water to make a Splash. Jump up on curbs and tables and benches and pretend the floor is lava.

The Women of Amphissa

12 Dionysus Priestesses confused and exhausted from performing a devotional ritual for Lord Dionysus wandered the streets of Amphissa (Amphissa was at war at the time, so extremely unsafe) before they passed out on the square. When the Priestesses came to, they had been surrounded by the Women of Amphissa who had been standing over them protectively and caring for them while the Priestesses slept.

does Zeus offer umbrellas to people who lost theirs? does he like to visit public trials from time to time? is he that random old man who just starts talking about how much he loves his wife while waiting for the bus? is he that teenage girl who is obsessed with politics and loves watching the news?

is Hestia that unknown neighbour that bakes extremely good and you can smell everything they cook? is Hestia that old lady that lives alone and tells you how happy she is with her tiny dog and her old TV? is she that single dad that's trying so hard to find the right food combo to get his picky eater daughter to eat out of the 3 meals she chose to eat for the rest of her life? was she the fires that made primitive families cook their meals together?

is Hera that little girl who got those glow in the dark stickers on her wall and completely fell in love with the stars? is she that confused man looking for the perfect ring for (he hopes) his future husband? is she in every discussion a woman has with her husband, trying to calm her down? does she enjoy watching those wedding dress programmes from time to time?

is Stolas in that girl who is OBSESSED with knowledge and museums but she gets weird looks about it? was he there when the first humans discovered obsidian and made knives with it? is he that little boy who cannot stop going to the museum to see the amazing dinosaurs?

is Dionysus going to those fancy wine tastings? is he there with that girl in her first party, trying alcohol for the first time? is he there during the third drunk fight a young man has this month? is he getting stoned with college students?
