Little thing I made for Lairde Dionysus 💜
(I use Lairde because it’s gender neutral for lord/lady and They have told me She uses any pronouns)

It feels like forever since I’ve last done a cocktail o’clock that wasn’t vodka on the rocks in a cat mug, but the pink elephant muse decided to come out to play tonight, and so I had to follow it. Tonight’s offering I’m calling the ‘Hymn to Persephone’...or Dionysus. I feel like either deity would be all right with getting this offering on their altar. It’s very rich with fruit and floral flavors, so you can see why my mind went towards them.
Initially inspired by all the talk of applejack a couple of nights ago, that liquor makes up the main part of the drink. By definition, applejack is an alcoholic beverage made from (duh) apples. It was very popular in the colonial era of the US, and is still being made today by the same company as Distillery License no. 1, Laird’s. I know there are other applejack brands out there, but Jersey pride kicks in here...also, it’s what I’ve had in the house and is well used, going by the level of that bottle there. The best way to describe the drink is basically brandy with a heavy apple flavor on top of it. Fun fact, applejack was once known colloquially as Jersey Lightning. My inner Jersey girl is proud of that.
The drink itself is primarily 3 parts applejack to 1 part St. Germain elderflower liqueur. St. Germain is syrupy and sweet, very forwardly floral, and in my opinion best used sparingly and mixed with something. Pour this into a mixing glass with ice, and add two to three dashes of bitters. You need something in there to cut the sweetness, and while the drink definitely remains sweet afterwards, there’s a little bit of an edge there that adds a hint of something else. Stir, then pour into a martini glass.
Final step is to pour 1 more part of Pama pomegranate liqueur over the top of the drink. Pama’s another sweet liqueur, but it’s also got a citrusy tang to it that this drink definitely needs. Then, drink up!
It’s not the flashiest drink, but it is pretty much pure alcohol, so it has a nice little punch to it. It’s definitely a sweet drink, but a sweetness that veers more towards a juice sweet than a candy sweet. The elderflower liqueur is a very predominant flavor in the drink, so treat that with a light hand and cut down the part if you’re not that into the floral flavor. Too much elderflower and Pama would probably make this drink taste like cough syrup, to be honest. So treat your sweeter liqueurs with care. If you want the drink even less sweet, you could probably swap out the applejack for a liquor in the whiskey family and it would work equally as well.
I’d give you a shot of me taking a sip from the drink but, well, I polished it off as I was typing up this post. So take that as my thumbs up for this concoction.
#cocktail o'clock#hooray for alcohol#aenaria babbles on#tw: alcohol#my pics#i really should start up a separate drink blog for these cocktails one of these days...

I’ve never posted art before (mostly because I don’t love the way my drawings look) but I drew this for my deities and I’m actually proud of it.
It’s (from left to right- or top to bottom I suppose) Lairde Dionysus, Lady Aphrodite, Lord Ares, Lady Artemis, Lord Apollo, Lord Asclepius, Lady Athena, Mother Gaea, Lord Hypnos, and Lairde Loki
These are all the deities I worship all together! This is just how I see them and how they look like and would stand. (Dio is a short king according to Him, and Lord Apollo says he looks like the Statue of Liberty)
