Near the beginning of the first episode of The Sign is a fight scene shot in one long 2 1/2 minute take, a demonstration of fluid hand-held (?) camerawork that's remarkable mainly for its length. (There's a possible cut, c. one minute in.)
What do you think ?
Does anyone else have trouble with YouTube autoplay ?
For a couple of years now, my YT sometimes will provide episodes out of order. Today, The Sign Ep 1 was followed by Ep 3; l had to stop and find Ep 2 myself.
... and instead of Ep 4 it gives me another series altogether.
Weird ? Anybody ?

please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!
do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

„I think we traditionally conceive of access as a thing that has to do with transparency, like having to make things clear or to elucidate things in other idioms or modalities as acts of translation and clarification. I think I'm not interested in that. That might be the way that institutions relate to access but I think a lot, and it's not just me, I would say a lot of disabled folks, a lot of people in the disability arts community, are thinking about this deeply, which is: What is access? How can we recuperate it from institutional appropriation? I think one of the ways is to actually think about access in a collective way, as a way we come together and then also as a tool of fugitivity inside of institutions. So that access becomes like the work upstairs is a work that I think is perceivable by a wider audience than what is traditionally framed inside of museums. But I don't know if that means the work is any clearer if that makes sense. Something I've said in the past is that I think all museum goers, all spectators, all audiences, are entitled to the incoherence of art. Art should be incoherent for everybody including disabled people. The processes of access, the processes of translation—they don't need to be clear, they can be muddied, they can be complex.“
– Carolyn Lazard in conversation with Meg Onli about Lazard's exhibition The Long Take.

I saw this question posed on tiktok, but I think Tumblr would really enjoy it too.
If a fae creature offered to give one million dollars for a bone FROM YOUR BODY chosen at random, how many bones would you allow them to take?
Light clarifications; The fae is not the one choosing the bones. The bone is taken at random. Each bone, no matter the size or importance, is worth a full million dollars. You must also declare the exact number first, you can't go bone-by-bone. You either say 2 or you say 10, you can't work your way up to a higher number. The bones are removed instantaneously, and the money is given immediately as well. You will not get in government trouble for acquiring the money.
Tell me in the tags/replies how many bones you'd let the fae take. And as always, reblog for bigger sample size.

If you've ever told a person who's had to be bedbound for a period of time that you wish you could "just stay in bed", DO IT.
Stay in bed. For days. But don't get up if someone needs you to, or you get bored, or you get antsy. Don't do anything other than rest. Just lie in your bed, whether you need to get stuff done around the house or socialize or anything else "productive". You'll have to cancel on people, you'll disappoint them, they won't understand.
And if you're thinking, "well, i CAN'T just be in bed. There's stuff that has to be done - I have plans", maybe ask yourself why you assumed a disabled person doesn't have plans or things to do or desires.

We are well beyond canary in the coalmine warning levels with the way trans people and particularly trans women are treated on this site.
Maybe you've heard the metaphor of allowing wolves and sheep to share the same space, welcoming everyone. You end up with just wolves because allowing them in that space makes it unsafe for any sheep. Or the story about how a nazi goes into a dive bar and is refused service. The bartender then explains to someone else at the bar that if you serve them once they tell their friends and before you know it you're the nazi bar they all go to and normal customers don't feel safe.
Terfs and other bigots are seeing these targeted harassment campaigns succeed against trans women and rejoicing. They see Tumblr ban them and officially stand by those decisions as endorsement for their harassment. It's a sign to bigots across the internet that Tumblr is a good place for them.
And what's more is that a lot of us probably don't realize just how much trans women contribute to Tumblr. The women banned recently were sources of site-wide memes and posts I wasn't even aware originated from them.any years old memes and references can be traced back to trans women on this site.
How many of these folks have to be removed before this is no longer a site you want to be a part of it? Sure you cultivate your own experience, but you can't follow or interact with people who aren't here. And if I wanted to interact with the nazis and terfs I'd go to reddit.
I encourage everyone to reblog this. Trans women shouldn't have to be the only ones speaking out against the bigotry they're experiencing. They shouldn't be the only ones risking their blogs being nuked by staff. We have to stand with them.
