so, we've all talked a lot about the mix songs and what they mean symbolically, but I don't think we've talked enough about the instrumental score -- which we know Gunn works on just as closely with his composers, making sure that it tells a story

I was honestly really concerned about how that was going to go for Vol 3 with it being a different composer than 1/2, but I love what we got and I think it does some really smart things

Since it's my main interest at the moment, let's talk about what I hear in it re: Gamora/starmora, particularly that ending

So, this is the score for the "I bet we were fun" scene.

First of all, it's gorgeous and I definitely don't think it's tragic. It's some of the most similar music we get to Vol 1/2 in the Vol 3 score, which I think is notable since a large part of the Vol 3 score sounds almost liturgical as it's built around the High Evolutionary's themes.

But also, you can hear the main Guardians theme very gently playing through at around 55 seconds, which I think is a very clear sign that we're supposed to know Gamora is a Guardian now

It also sounds very similar to this track, which is the score for Nebula and Gamora’s reconciliation scene at the end of Vol 2 (where, you might recall, Nebula also leaves but then later becomes a Guardian)

Finally, did you know that Peter and Gamora actually have a love theme in Vol 2? It's throughout the score but you can hear it the most clearly here -- which, incidentally, is where the cut starmora kiss would have been, according to the concept art

Now, back to their Vol 3 ending scene -- You can't hear it as clearly as you can the main Guardians theme and I haven't like transcribed the notes, but I definitely think there are echoes of/references to their love theme in there as well
