just watched mutant apocalypse and i can't help but notice how the ending almost implies the turtles and mira die at the end. like the oasis is some kind of afterlife. before they arrive, there's that sign that says "the end" and the "the" almost looks like blood if you squint. plus the sky right before the 3rd episode ends actually looks like a normal sky instead of the wackass shit in the rest of the arc. and that whole group picture with splinter. and the transition into the final scene is raph waking up on that rock. like. hm.
#still think it's fucking hilarious the mutant apocalypse arc is right after lone rat and cubs#like “aww splinter's being a protective dad”#straight into “the planet is dead and everything sucks also donnie's a robot now and mikey and leo are dead probably lmao”#tmnt 2012

Day 13 Scars
the amount of effort I had to put into these and they still don’t look how I want is frustrating but alas time is not on my side
ramblings under the cut
Mikey: Gave Mikey Lichen Burns from that one time he got disintegrated and then reanimated via electricity. He died n got better and honestly it is one of the most violent injuries that I recall for him. Like he plays it off so easily cuz he has super powers and all that jazz but that’s so messed up. Also Raph yelling for him OOOFFFFF will never forget how filled w rage and hurt that dude was. He was ready to kill ❤️ Such a wild episode and I love how Mikey was so depended on in order for the plan to succeed. It was Mikey’s turn for the Self sacrificing bit and he crushed it
Leo: Get Shreddered idiot!!! The fucked up knee and throat from when he got beat up and thrown thru the window. This is def my fav event to happen which is a wild thing to say. It’s the most obvious thing to go for but I personally loved the farmhouse arc and Leo’s need for recovery. That dude is still not well and is repressing stuff but they don’t have time to heal. Their lives are too chaotic, too much is on the line, and Leo can’t afford to take the time to heal 100% none of them can tbh. I know a lot of ppl hate how 12 handled his knee injury but I loved it Bc it’s obviously not better but he’s a stubborn idiot who chooses to push everything down and out. He is the healthiest turtle for sure. I’m pretty sure in later episodes his knee gives out a few times don’t quote me tho it’s been a few years aha
Raph: His broken shell! After watching Lone Rat and Cubs and seeing where it came from, I always wondered if Splinter looks at it with loads of regret. A physical sign of his short comings that one time they almost got caught by the Kraang. A warning and a constant reminder they’ll never be safe, that splinter wont always be able to protect his babies no matter how hard he fights. I also like to HC he becomes the most hovering and overprotective of Raph while he’s still recovering Bc that shell broke so easy. Honestly seeing screen shots of close ups of Raphs shell is awesome to see both shell and plastron are broken.
Donnie: UGHHH THIS DUDEEEE !!!!! Literally had the hardest time Bc he goes thru a lot also but it’s more emotional and mental dude is fuked up in the head fr. I asked several ppl for help Bc I didn’t want to do another lichen burn thing from Karai’s trap. In the end I played around w the suggestions to see what would look most appealing to me. The scars on arm are from Slash (such a good episode thank you for the suggestion 🙌) as his arm was injured and in a sling at the end of the episode. The head scar def a big creative liberty Bc he does get injured there a lot ahah. I was thinking of Fourtrap again which lead to thinking about the time that Leo blew him up accidentally during is emo phase XD

Something I was thinking about today:
The claim that Splinter “never feeds his sons human food” and they have to discover it upon reaching the surface is a curious one.
It makes sense given common information.
Let’s use our big brains. Reason out some more info.
Info like… Splinter must have looked up information about turtles before buying four baby turtles.
However, after getting turned into a rat and ending up a father to infants on the run from aliens, he probably never got the chance to go to the library or use the Internet to look up information on how to feed a half-human half-turtle hybrid baby.
(Not that the Internet had forums for that yet. Was the internet prevalent in 2012…?)
So he just. Fed them turtle food and hoped for the best.
(The Japanese are know for eating insects. And algae is commonly used in all kinds of their recipes. For Americans, it sounds crazy. For Splinter, it was just an adaption of his own diet in the hopes of providing his mutant children with safe, normal turtle food.)
By the time they were kids, they’d probably just gotten used to a routine. We really have no proof that algae and worms is bad for the turtles. Tastes yucky? Maybe. But humans eat plants and bugs too.
Splinter was likely just working with what he knew.
But I don’t think they only ever ate algea. Don’t get me wrong-
The theory is totally understandable. I was onboard for this claim for a while myself. Then, I rewatched Lone Rat and Cubs. (Bebés 🥰🥰)
And he definitely introduces them to foods.
I’m seeing noodles, gyoza, (bamboo stick?), and he also throws down something yellow that I can’t recognize. We also see him collecting bread for them and dangling food over the little piranha children.
He continues to collect products for them. Maybe not the healthiest because he’s literally raiding trashcans but… He’s trying.
And then we have some popcorn proof that he’s still introducing them to human foods when they’re kiddos, with Mikey happily snacking on some while they’re in the dojo.
During the series, we see very little new introductions to foods. They eat romen, icecream, popcorn, and drink milk, tea, and other human things without so much as batting an eye.
Ergo, they’ve had human foods. They’ve just never had pizza.
Why do they act like such goobers when introduced to pizza?
BECAUSE THEY’RE GOOBERS, YOUR HONOR!!!
Though- they actually act similarly when introduced to pizza gyoza.
They hesitate. And then something explodes with how tasty it is.
But because this list is far to short to be a proper analysis, there’s also the point to be made for the first episode where they have an entire kitchen set-up going around them.
And I’m no New York Subway expert, but do they normally have kitchens set up within them? Probably not.
Which means that Splinter (and/or his sons) must have set this up. Why set up pantries, a fridge, and a stove if you did not intend to house foods or make foods to cook on them?
After all, the food on the plates appear fresh and raw.
They have an algae pool for harvesting in the lab. Why would they need to create an entire kitchen set-up simply to prepare them?
Also, they know how to use chopsticks for big and small foods. If they’d spent their entire lives eating small foods, it would be a teenie bit difficult to change the method of picking up a fatter breading than a tiny greenery or worm. Especially with mutant hands.
But they don’t hesitate. As if they have picked up larger foods before.
Also, also, they know what a cake is. What it’s supposed to be made out of. Hence why Leo knows what “icing” is.
I’m not normally that excited to taste something that I’ve never tried before (unless someone is hyping me up). It feel implied that they have and that’s why they’re disappointed that Mikey made one of not-cake substances and why Mikey looks like he has regrets.
Also, also, also- considering Splinter eats the algae and worms too, I don’t believe that he has the turtles on a purely algae based diet because he’d have to stick himself on one too. Man’s not a fan.
And he knows that other foods exist. So. Why would he?
In other words, my favorite analogy:
I hate Spinach salad. My mother used to make us eat Spinach salad.
Were there better things to eat than Spinach? Yeah.
Did mom even listen to that point? Nope.
But was it still technically good for me so I was forced to stomach Spinach salad until I was old enough to design my own diet?
You betcha. And I hated every minute of it 👍
So, to end this, I have to say that while algea and worms could have been (at maximum) a common meal for the turtles, I don’t think it was their only meal option. I’m not necessarily saying it was the best idea or the tastiest meal for a birthday-type celebration, but the turtles definitely had outside food exposure.
Do with this knowledge what you will.
#I always love the fanfics that are like#He incorporated algae into pancakes and other stuff#To make it taster for them#cute 🥰🥰#See what I see TMNT#tmnt 2012#tmnt 2k12#tmnt fandom#teenage mutant ninja turtles 2012#teenage mutant ninja turtles#tmnt donnie 2012#2012 donnie#donnie 2012#tmnt raph 2012#tmnt leo 2012#tmnt 2012 donnie#tmnt mikey 2012#mikey 2012#2012 mikey#tmnt 2012 raph#2012 raph#tmnt 2012 leo#splinter 2012#leo 2012#raph 2012#tmnt 2012 splinter#2012 splinter

I think an awful lot about Splinter believing in the start of the series that he'd lost his humanity.
For the sake of someone named Pete, I will go through the events in chronological order for once-
In Lone Rat and Cubs, Splinter tells the turtles about their time spent running from the Kraang before they found their forever home, and we learn that Splinter didn't easily slip into his new role. Sure, he cared for the turtles, kept them fed and sheltered them from the elements, but he still called them "creatures" and "turtles" before naming them. He didn't see this as an opportunistic situation where he miraculously became a father to a second batch of kids, but rather that he'd fallen into a pool of misfortune and would need to live with this new form while protecting himself and the turtles.
"What terrible deed did I do in a past life that such a curse has befallen me?"
As he considers the turtles' growth and the possibility of a future with them, he then begins to view himself as a potential father. He explains that he wondered if he had the discipline to be a proper father, especially after the loss of his first family, and he realizes it was something he wanted to be regardless of discipline or odd circumstances.
And so, he claims the turtles as his own, and accepts his role as their father.
Though he'd grown accustomed to being a mutant rat over the years, he still draws a line between "Hamato Yoshi" and "Splinter" without knowing it, albeit a blurry and ephemeral one drawn in ever changing sand.
We hear Splinter in the second episode of the series talking about the loss of his family, his home, and his own name. He more or less tells Leo that being mutated erased whatever connection he formally had to the name "Hamato," and the idea is further supported by a similar and more somber scene in I, Monster. Splinter fights off the Rat King's control as he again laments that his entire clan and family, even his humanity, is gone, and he has nothing but the turtles left for him in this new life. Fortunately, he retains his sense of self post mutation, and he's presented from the beginning of the series as one who's in control of himself, both to his sons and friends of theirs, as well as any enemy that comes their way.
However, that presentation of control gives us a bit of a look into his psyche and allows us to consider the idea of him still struggling to come to terms with not being human anymore.
With the introduction of the Rat King, he's taunted by a potential loss of that control for the first time and it shakes him to his core. It makes sense for him to be shaken up since all that'd be left without him is a mindless, humanoid rat who'd lost touch with the human it used to be. Which is why it's so compelling that his sons, particularly Leo, are so adamant about reinforcing the fact that his mutation doesn't erase who he is. It's incredibly noteworthy what Leo says to him when trying to break the Rat King's control over him, "Remember who you are!"
Not who he once was, or the human he used to be, but who he is.
They never viewed Splinter as a separate being from Hamato Yoshi.
The boys aren't strangers to Splinter's old life before them, and they're very much aware of everything he'd lost; the guy talks about certain things frequently enough for them to know his tragedies and recite them without skipping a letter. It's his recollections of the tribulations he suffered through that helped them understand that his life with them is undeniably disconnected from his life with Tang Shen, but not unrelated.
He's still Hamato Yoshi, and his place will always be with his family.
Having been defeated by Splinter, the Rat King runs to find another way of tormenting him, and his perfect target is fear.
Though we got a brief look into this during their first encounter with Falco's twisted appearance, it's not until Of Rats and Men that we get further insight into another layer of Splinter's concern with his rat half: the repercussions that could result from the loss of control.
Throughout all of his years of raising his sons, not once did he ever treat them with the intention to frighten them and make them wary of his every move. The Rat King can easily use that fear to his advantage and weaken Splinter's mental stability enough to figure out how to make mutants similar to him. And he truly makes use of that fear by turning Splinter into his personal puppet.
There's still a considerable amount of concern on the turtles' end that pierces through that fear though. After Splinter teleports across the room to distance himself, Leo looked ready to leap to his side, and the others, despite being threatened literal seconds earlier, remain where they are and are equally concerned.
Eventually, the Rat King strikes again and everyone begins to piece together what's going on when Splinter loses it. Mikey is absolutely terrified and staggered by what happened, and Raph and Donnie tread with caution while Leo and April are the first ones to approach Splinter.
The TV gives them extra confirmation that Falco is back, and to everyone's surprise, Splinter refuses to help them fight Falco, even when Casey is dragged down a manhole by one of the mutated rats in their first attempt to clear the streets. It's not an easy choice for Splinter to make because we see how guilty he feels for his refusal, but the gang doesn't fault him for refusing either. No matter how much they want for Splinter to join them, he's right to worry about what the Rat King, now stronger than before, could force him to do.
April speaks for everyone though when she tells him they all believe in him. They make it known that they aren't afraid of what may happen, and they especially aren't afraid of him.
Unsurprisingly, Splinter changes his mind at the last minute, and, with the help of a recently mutated cat, he chases Falco down to deal with him once and for all. Protecting his family takes priority over his doubts, and by the end of the episode, he overcomes his fear of the Rat King controlling him.
He has his humanity, and that's what makes him different from the rat Falco constantly made him out to be.
And for the first time in the series, in The Lonely Mutation of Baxter Stockman, he says out loud that he has his humanity and is thankful he's fortunate enough to still have it when others lose it post mutation.
I previously went a bit more in depth about it in this post but the boys have witnessed Splinter grappling with being a rat, particularly with the Rat King's meddling, and Donnie sincerely believed giving him retromutagen would be something he'd want. This was clearly an idea that's been weighing on Donnie's mind for a while considering that he seemingly kept quiet about his plan until he completed the retromutagen, and he's the most upset when he has to use the remaining dosage for Kirby.
But Splinter tells him and the other turtles he's content as he is and wouldn't do anything to change himself this far in. And the boys all seem content with his answer.
With the invasion of the Kraang and his defeat at the hands of the Shredder, Splinter again comes face to face with his mutated genes, and there's no Rat King stringing him along this time. He'd been swallowed by delirium with the lack of familial support to pull him out of it, and he became spiritually disconnected from his body as a result. The gang is initially caught off guard by Splinter's state, but they quickly get over it and work to subdue him.
While the boys are pulled away into battle, April uses her powers to sift through Splinter's memories and, after showing him the time he asked her to train with him, we see a memory with the turtles, Karai, and his only family portrait from before his mutation:
Seeing his family is what manages to bring him back to his senses.
We the audience, as well as Splinter, figured that was the end of his troubles with being a mutant rat, but Shredder decided to bathe in some super juice and sent Splinter careening a thousand feet into a dark cavern, the same one Splinter sent Falco down two seasons ago. Being thrown into near total darkness with a fairly debilitating injury and fever was the perfect recipe for him to begin hallucinating, and he believes the Rat King is attacking him when he's most vulnerable. But just when he feels himself slipping further away, his mind goes straight to the day his sons celebrated their 15th mutation day, and just beyond them is Tang Shen.
He regains his clarity, grasps that Falco's been dead the whole time, and is immensely relieved to see Donnie and Mikey after what he'd been through.
"Perhaps a teacher, but never my master."
Falco inadvertently taught Splinter that he's always had his humanity, and his family serves as a reminder of that fact by remaining a constant and significant pillar for him.
His family is his humanity.

The Cursed Warlords Chapter #Nine – Frozen Wind
Spirit doesn’t like to use it but she has the ability to protect and to harm without weapons.
“Are you sure you want to leave? It’s dangerous out in the wild,” The old innkeeper said as she gripped your hands tightly.
You just shook your head quietly, there was no need to stay in the village any longer. You couldn’t find any clues here, your goal was to get home to your family, the family who depended on you. Giving her hands a reassuring squeeze the elderly woman let go realizing that there was no deterring you.
“Ready to go Reader?” Spirit asked, ready to head out and get this whole ordeal over with.
“But of course,” You grinned, a feeling of excitement soon began to buzz through you, this was a whole new world that you were going to see while traveling to this woman who may or may not be able to get you home. You just hoped that there were no demons, monsters, wild animals or even people that would get in your way. If this world’s gods were to allow you to easily get home, you would be oh so grateful.
Taking a deep breath, you followed your glamoured friend out of the village. People looked over their shoulders at you, while others didn’t give you a second glance. You didn’t particularly care about their looks, while they made you uncomfortable you weren’t surprised that you were getting them. Especially with two monkey cubs sitting on your shoulders. Plum laying his head on yours with his ears healed tightly against each other. While Peaches watched everyone that passed by you with a harsh glare across his face, though you had to admit his glare was rather adorable.
“You ready for an adventure?” Spirit asked her voice dripping with sarcasm.
You laughed before giving a wide smile, everything was going to be fine. You would make the best of the situation one way or another. Reaching up to Peaches and Plums you made sure they were still their before following behind your friend. With the reassurance that they were still there, you found yourself staring at the beautiful scenery around you. Large trees surrounded you, vines hanging from several as moss grew up the sides.
“It’s beautiful,” you muttered looking around.
“You say that about everything,” Spirit chuckled, her human glamour vanishing as you both got farther from the village.
You just laughed, it was true. Everything around you was stunning and you couldn’t get enough of staring at the wide scenery around you.
You laughed before giving a wide smile, everything was going to be fine. You would make the best of the situation one way or another. Reaching up to Peaches and Plums you made sure they were still there before following behind your friend.
“An adventure? Hopefully a peaceful one, no more bandits if possible,” you replied, that was a reasonable request, wasn’t it?
Apparently no, no it was not. It was slowly getting dark, the sun setting below the horizon as the moon shinned brightly overhead. That’s when you heard it. The sound of footsteps were rushing behind you and several shouts as well. You didn’t even have time to run before someone grabbed you by the arm tightly.
“Hey! Let go!!” Spirit shouted loudly.
Whipping your head around it was none other than the bandits that had kidnapped Spirit before. How the hell did they find you two? Had you stayed in the town for too long? You must have. Fuck!
“Well, well, well look what we have here? A lone young lady and the little bitch who escaped,” the words cut deep, ‘lone,’ alone away from your family and your friends. NO SNAP OUT OF IT!
You were about to snap back at the man when suddenly he howled, your head snapped down at the sight of Peaches digging his fangs into the man’s skin. Blood quickly left the wound before he tried to throw the small monkey off.
“PEACHES!” You shouted fear covering your face at the sight.
“Look out Reader!” Spirit called just in time for you to duck below a punch just barely.
“Get off me you rat!” The man shouted as he threw his arm around in an attempt to get the golden monkey to unlatch from his arm.
'Rat!?' Wukong wanted to scream at the insult. Because he couldn’t he opted to dig his teeth further into the man’s flesh.
“Stay back!” You yelled as you went to pull out your pocketknife before remembering you traded it for that torch.
Fear covered your face as you backed away, fast and almost fearful chirping echoed through your ears. You felt sweat glisten across your forehead you couldn’t fight… four men!
‘WUKONG!’ Macaque chirped as the golden monkey was thrown harshly to the ground his body bouncing as he let out a low groan, not able to stand back up.
“Peaches!” You went to move closer.
“Your rat fucking bit me!” The man practically snarled in rage as he glared at you.
“He’s not a rat he’s a monkey!” you seethed at the insult to your small friend.
The man rolled his eyes before kicking Peaches towards you. You rushed to pick him up holding him in your arms as you backed away. Fear flooded through your body, adrenaline soon following as you felt your blood pound in your ears.
From your shoulder Plums quickly looked over Peaches and snarled at the man with a vengeful hate. Anger radiated off of the tiny monkey and for a moment you were scared that he might jump off your shoulder. Luckily he didn’t much to your gratitude.
“You dare talk back to me woman? I otta- ahhh!!” He screamed as an arrow pierced through his arm.
You whipped your head around to see Spirit standing behind you with a bow in her hand. Was that what she had been working on? You pushed your thoughts away before running to get away from the men. You got passed Spirit who shot another arrow, cutting into another man’s side. Blood dripped down his flesh as he let out a blood curdling scream. The arrow had shot straight through his armor.
”Keep your hands off my idiot,” Spirit snarled, venom pouring through every word as he eyes seemed to glow blue, the temperature decreasing rapidly around her.
“We caught you once monster! We can do it again…” The man’s words cut short as they all noticed the grass around her feet quickly wilting and freezing over, not mere frost but rather a thick layer of ice followed her every movement.
Her tail flicked back and forth angrily as her gaze darkened at their words, however despite the danger that lurked behind her eyes an eerie grin spread across her face. “An ambush while one is sleeping hardly constitutes a win. How about we have ourselves a rematch I wonder how long you’ll last against my power~”
The blood drained from the men’s faces. But even as it did the two unharmed men seemed to take her challenge willingly. Of course this was not exactly the right decision for the grown men. A feral smile covered her face and with the flick of her hand everything around her was encased in ice, aside from a single circle around you. You gasped at the sight of the white flurries that filled the air around you, it was… beautiful.
However you quickly gasped when you saw that the ice was encasing the men, slowly running up their legs and towards their chests. Spirit let out an almost warm laugh at the sight before her, holding absolutely no regret or remorse.
“Spirit. Spirit you’re going too far!” Reader quickly shouted, and the ice stopped moving.
The small demoness turned her head to look her friend in the eye, her own eyes narrowing and her lips forming a thin line. Her tail continued to flick as she contemplated what you said.
“Too far?” She repeated almost in confusion at your words.
“Yes, you’re going too far. They’ve learned there lesson. Right?” You turned to look at the men who were all nodding their heads frantically.
It didn’t make any sense to you, why would you spend so much time with Spirit running when she had the power to do this? Was there a reason she hadn’t before? Why didn’t she simply threaten them. It didn’t make any sense to you.
“Sorry, I forgot why I hadn’t done this before. You look petrified my friend,” Spirit muttered lightly, warm smile across her face while she spoke.
You froze as the word danger screamed in your mind repeatedly. She looked like she was almost enjoying the suffering of the men who were fruitlessly trying to break the ice that encased their legs. Each panicked and fearful that it would suddenly start to rise once again.
“… What?” You muttered through a breath.
“Let’s get further ahead and then I’ll release them. I wouldn’t want them to make any bad decisions now would I?” Spirit asked with a smile gracing her lips.
You could barely nod before a warmth bumped against your face, Plum hit his head against your cheek hard enough to catch you’re attention. Looking back at the men you remembered what they did and turned to quickly leave with your friend. A fear gripped at your chest as you followed behind her, they were cruel they deserved more than this but… they were still human, still living beings who deserved a second chance… right?
Once they were out of sight, Spirit let out a breath and the ice stopped forming below her feet. You couldn’t bring yourself to ask if she freed the men, she said she would and she wouldn’t lie to you. She was your friend and she was just protecting you.
“I’m sorry for scaring you. I just… I just got so mad,” She started to say but you shushed her as you looked over Peaches.
Finding yourself sitting on the forest floor you looked him over, Plums hopped down so he was beside him. The white monkey pressing his face against Peaches trying to wake him up. There was a small lump on his head and his eyes were closed. For a moment you began to panic as you pressed your fingers against his neck trying to find a pulse, it was there still beating strong. His breathing was also even and other then the swelling on his head there weren’t any other injuries.
“Is he going to be okay?” Spirit asked cautiously.
You nodded, there shouldn’t be any reason he wouldn’t be. Unless he hurt something internally, but you had no way to check that. He would be okay, he just needed warmth, rest and when he woke up he would need food. That would do, at least you hoped it would. Plum whimpered beside Peaches as he nuzzled his face still trying to wake him up.
“It’s okay, he’s going to be okay. I’ll take care of you two, I promise,” You smiled weakly as you continued to sit there on the forest floor.
The cackle of a newly born flame echoed through the tiny clearing, when had Spirit started a fire? Never-mind, it was something that was needed especially for Peaches who probably needed the warmth the most.
You turned over and looked over to Peaches first he was still sleeping with Plum curled around him worriedly. You could feel your chest tighten, poor things. You gently went to pet Plum and he snapped at you. His teeth bared as he growled harshly, he looked so… terrified.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay,” you mutter reaching to hold the palm of your hand up in front of him.
The monkey didn’t listen instead growled at you. You looked at him with a worried look, he was so worried about his little friend, it made your heart ache. Leaning down you rested your hand against Plum’s head and he swiped his little claws at you. He was in a defensive mode over his friend, you quickly pulled your hand back at his small attack.
“… I want to help you and your friend, but dear I can’t help if you keep hiding him and yourself away from me,” You try to persuade the monkey only to get a growl back.
“He’s not gonna listen to you,” Spirit said as she laid on the ground, her tail swaying lazily back and forth.
“He’ll listen, he’s just scared for his friend,” You say with a calm voice before looking back at the cub who was cuddled on top of Peaches.
You could feel the glare of the monkey on you he continued to growl at you. Even as Spirit told you that it was a bad idea, and that it wasn’t going to do any good, you couldn’t help but reach out. The monkey glared at you, his tail whipping back and forth as you reached forward to pet him again.
He once again snapped at you angrily. You took in a deep breath before leaning forward again, your hand placed on the ground palm up. He continued to growl looking down at your hand, he sniffed the air but continued to stay close to his mate. You looked at him for a moment before giving him a light smile. You weren’t going to move closer even though you really wanted to, Plum’s raised fur had relaxed somewhat. He realized you weren’t trying to hurting them.
He knew that you weren’t originally trying to hurt them, he knew that you were far too kind to intentionally hurt a harmless animal for no reason. He may have been a demonic warlord but right now he looked like a helpless monkey cub that was just trying to protect his friend.
He knew that you wouldn’t hurt him nor his mate, and yet he was still on high alert. He didn’t want his mate to get hurt, he felt like he needed to protect him from the danger that was already gone. He would probably remain that way until after Wukong woke back up… he would wake up… right? His mate was twice immortal, there was no way that something like this would actually kill him.
He felt his breathing hitch at the thought, his mate wasn’t dead he knew that, he wasn’t going to die like this. He was and is twice immortal. Even if he were to be brought to Diyu he would be able to get out like he had before… and if not… then he would go get him after he broke this damned curse. A familiar feeling filled his gut, the same feeling that he had every time that he went after his mate whenever he would run off- this wasn’t the same. His mate wasn’t trying to run away from him, he wasn’t trying to worry him. No he was cursed just as he was, they would fix this, they would fix all of this.
He looked back at you and growled lowly, he didn’t need- a chilly wind passed through his fur. It was so much colder than it was just a little while ago. He curled up around Wukong worried that he may be too cold due to his injury. You saw this and let out a sigh.
“I’m going to pick you up, it’ll be warmer next to me,” you said with a warm smile across your face.
“He doesn’t understand you,” Spirit muttered as she continued to stare at the sky.
Macaque turned to Spirit with a growl, she was really getting on his nerves. He didn’t want you to like believe he would listen to everything you said but he also did NOT appreciate his intellagence being questioned. He was one of the monkey kings he should get respect from this simple monkey demoness. Though she wasn’t very simple was she?
“He does, weather he chooses to do anything about it is up to him,” You reply calmly.
Spirit glanced at you for a moment before shrugging, she clearly didn’t believe you. She let out a yawn as she closed her eyes, all the while you looked at Plum expectantly. And finally after a moment of staring at each other he finally nudged Peaches and allowed you to scoop both of them up. You laid back down, close to the warm flames and let Plum snuggle into you and his friend.
Macaque had to admit it was warm, and soft curled up with you. You felt so warm, and your heart thumped so evenly, so calmly and so… so nicely. It wasn’t his mate’s strong stone heartbeat it was, far softer and fuck it was so much sweeter too. He curled close to you and to his mate, one night just one night he would allow this. ‘Be okay Wukong,’ he thought as he slowly drifted off into a sweet and peaceful sleep.
Looking down at the two monkeys you couldn’t help but smile. They clearly cared deeply for each other and would do so much for the other. Plum had even tried to fight you when clearly he wouldn’t be able to defeat you in a real battle. Leaning down you gave each of them a kiss on the forehead and laid on the ground.
“You’re too soft on them,” Spirit muttered half heartedly.
“You want a good night kiss too?” You asked with a smirk.
Her face immediately burned and she yelled at you. You could only laugh as you drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Spirit grumbled to herself, she wasn’t a child. She didn’t need cuddles like- like some cub to sleep. You were the one who needed to sleep so you wouldn’t pass out while traveling again. She could still feel her face burning a bright red, turning slightly she glanced over at you and saw the content monkeys on your arms.
For a split moment, just a moment she actually thought about going over to you and accepting your offer. That was before she steeled her resolve, she had sleep back on the village, she didn’t need more… not tonight.
