Hey guess WHAT it's #small brag Sunday! I have some small brags to share!

First: I grew things in my GARDEN ! The first courgette is nearly ready to be a real courgette and the chard leaves are coming in quicker than I can find things to put them in ♥♥♥

Second: my herbarium is going great! I have 80 samples collected, and 20 of those are fully pressed, dried, and arranged on boards like the plant above.

This plant is our friend pignut, or cúlarán, which as the name suggests produces a nut-like growth on its root. I haven't got to try it yet but I've been told they taste like water chestnuts.

Third: no picture for this one but I performed a poem at an open mic night on Friday and everyone applauded for me!!! and Jamie said i'm "good at words"!!! and the mother of two queer teenagers hugged me & asked me if i'd be willing to hang out with her kids some time cause she wants them to have more queer community ! 🥰🥰🥰

why did my brain this morning just spawn a rain world x majora's mask au and why is it actually kinda banger

#iterators as whole celestial bodies meant to orbit around a single planet #“local groups” consisting of all the iterators within a given solar system #the ancients for some reason decided to experiment with placing two in the same orbit and it eventually destabilized #so now looks to the moon is just flung off into the farthest reaches of space #on a course to crash into termina #so the climax of majora's mask instead becomes navigating a superstructure in 3d as its zero-gravity fails to stay engaged #link gaining the mark of communication and having to start the cycle over again with new knowledge in order to prevent the crash #part of the cutscene is like. lttm had noticed strange things happening on her diagnostics but didn't realize what it meant #not that she was crashing into a planet (the ancients never saw that happening so she was never built with a way to see out)#and definitely not that a kid with an ocarina was the reason she detected she was already on the 97th cycle of these events #idk i think it'd be a neat twist on things

One of the annoying things about being good at a physical hobby that doesn't create anything in the modern day is that if you want anyone to care about it enough to share with them, you also basically have to be a hobbyist in video editing, have a good camera, look conventionally attractive, and a location that doubles as a studio. You're a showcase for content first and a person with a hobby second.

I'm beginning to think that you people just don't understand what is being said when you read criticisms of electoral politics.

#I'm sure they're out there: but i have observed vanishingly few people who would assert that one should NOT vote #but i HAVE seen many valid criticisms of US elections that liberals treat as if that's what is being said #most US liberals just don't have the imagination to realize that they can and should engage in political action in addition to voting #because voting on the national level is demonstrably one of the least effective ways to create change in public policy #voting on local issues is more effective which is why people should do it anyway #YES I'm voting too. now get outta my fucking inbox and go help people who are organizing in your community #mine

You really are on the local gossip grapevine when you have a pup - just found out from a wee lady with two TINY pups who is the heartbeat of this estate the reason why a police van was on the street for four hours yesterday.

It’s really sad - a local guy of only around fifty seems to have dropped dead suddenly. Next door neighbours knocked his door a couple of times over the weekend and heard his wee dog barking but no answer so got the cops to take the door off yesterday afternoon.

Poor wee soul seems to have been sitting with his body since Friday 😿. Luckily the neighbours are adopting them!

Crazy to say but, when it's a right that we're still working on getting imprisoned people to have, I don't think it's a very Hot Take to say it's useless. Sorry, maybe crazy of me, but I'm one of those people who would've been lobotomized before getting my right to vote in The Olde Days and I think maybe we ought to consider whose agenda we're endorsing by discouraging The Literally Bare Minimum Of Civic Engagement for your average Joe or Jane

#maybe instead of discouraging everyone else from voting you should find an outlet in your community that allows you to affect needed change #it grows from the grassroots up in this case because the system is broken #I'm not trying to espouse that the federal government is good actually #I'm trying to espouse that there's more to voting than just Who Is “The Leader of the 'Free' World”#voting is literally the bare minimum of engaging in your own community on a civic level #and maybe i am brainwashed #but I'm the socialist leaning douchebag that has still voted in every single local election since i came of age because i was aware that #voting isn't just President #it's judges and DA and fucking City Council and Education Board #and often the environmental Protection or similar group that's affiliated with the city #you can draw a dick over both Kamala and Trump's names as far as I'm concerned or fuck nominate Dick Dixon for president #but that's so far from the only thing we're talking about when we discuss voting and elections and it's #really it's negligence bordering on malignancy to claim that Not Voting is A Good Thing #the only people to whom that might apply are people like my father who fell into QAnon Lite and never quite left it #and i can assure you he and all of his ilk Will be voting #go ahead apathetic and negligent is a hot look when you have the privilege to not care
