This morning's very welcome and very delicious coffee.
I enjoyed this over a breakfast meeting at 'Grind' in Liverpool Street. Definitely put a skip in my step. And possibly a shake in my hands... it was rather strong. And my third coffee of the morning.

OJT EATS | Ye Ye Noodle & Dumpling
Tumblr media
Looking for a quick simple after work dinner around Liverpool Street, there are quite a few different options. One place that we'd seen on social media a couple of times was Ye Ye Noodle and Dumpling, a tiny little dumpling shop just down a side street off Bishopsgate. We were lucky enough to get down there and get squeezed onto a table straight away.
Tumblr media
As a side, we ordered the lotus root boxes. We didn't know what they were when we ordered them but turned out to be essentially tiny lotus root sandwiches with a pork mince filling, all battered and deep fried. They were a little on the greasy side and pretty heavy but actually quite tasty.

Given the name of this place, we figured we had to try some noodles and some dumplings. First up was the noodles which were the 2 pork combo soup noodles that came with a pork meatball and pork ribs. The meatball was delicious with really deep flavour and the ribs were incredibly tender. The soup was also really flavourful; the only slightly disappointing bit of the whole thing were the noodles themselves. They were nice and thick but just not quite firm enough for me; otherwise this would've been an even more impressive bowl of noodles that it was.

Then onto the other half of the name; the dumplings. On the menu, these are called Grilled Juicy Pork Dumplings and they do live up to their name; they were very juicy. They came with a super crispy grilled bottom and as long as you were careful not to burn yourself on the soup, these were great! They are apparently limited in number per day and you can't get them to take away but I can see why the place itself recommends them. They reminded me a little of the dumplings from Dumpling Shack but actually, a little better!
The place is a bit tiny and I can imagine there'll often be a bit of a wait but if you're looking for a light meal or a snack, we'd definitely recommend you pop down for some dumplings (and maybe a few of the smaller dishes). We may be judging too much over just one bowl but I'd maybe stay away from the noodles.
Ye Ye Noodle & Dumpling, 14 Artillery Passage, London E1 7LJ
Cheers, JL
