it  began  as  a  hobby. suki  had  been  thirteen,  on  the  cusp  of  puberty  and  her  main  enemy  (  besides  her  crippling  anxiety  and  body  dysmorphia  )  had  been  her  father.  lee  fook  yee  was  the  very  image  of  the  american  dream  ─  an  immigrant  from  singapore,  he  had  started  up  his  practice  in  the  late  80s  and  achieved  unprecedent  success  in  their  little  borough  in  new  york.  there  had  been  struggles,  of  course,  but  none  that  he  wished  to  share  with  his  impressionable  young  daughter.  perhaps,  if  he  had,  suki  would  have  been  able  to  sympathize  with  him  more,  but  as  it  stood,  their  father  was  a  drill  sergeant  in  their  eyes  and  anything  that  unsettled  him  only  served  to  entice  them.   auto  body  work  was  not  the  purpose  of  high  school  shop,  but  as  long  as  she  cleaned  up  after  herself,  no  one  really  cared  what  she  did  after  school  hours  and  her  talent  for  painting  (  cars  and  other  things,  as  the  local  police  force  would  report,  grabbing  her  from  where  she  had  just  spray  painted  another  wall  )  caught  the  eye  of  the  resident  autobody  shop,  who  offered  her  a  part - time  gig  working  for  them.  their  father  had  been  against  it,  wanting  them  to  focus  on  school,  which  was  probably  why  suki  (  who  had  long  since  shed  their  given  name  of  sook  yee  for  something  more  american  )  had  accepted  it  in  the  first  place. whatever  concerns  he  had  proved  to  be  correct,  however,  as  she  dropped  out  of  school  just  a  few  weeks  before  graduation  to  run  a  six - car  gig  for  the  shop  to  texas.  he  had  left  them  a  voice  message  on  the  morning  of  their  graduation,  telling  them  never  to  come  back  and  suki,  taking  it  as  a  challenge,  left  brooklyn  for  good.  at  first,  her  jobs  were  mostly  innocent  and  legitimate,  but  being  alone  at  eighteen  was  more  difficult  than  the  movies  made  it  out  to  be,  and  it  wasn't  long  before  she  was  running  somewhat  illegal  transportation  deals  for  the  boss,  racing  souped  up  cars  on  the  side  for  a  handful  of  dollars  that  barely  kept  her  fed  on  most  months. they  were  twenty  one  when  they  stole  their  first  car  ─  it  was  a  pretty  thing,  foreign  with  an  engine  that  purred  like  a  contented  cat  with  just  a  flick  of  the  wrist.  suki  learned  that  real  money  was  made  with  flipped  vehicles  sold  to  flashy  up - and - comers  across  the  border  and  demanded  in  on  the  job,  running  parts  across  north  america  for  the  next  six  years  until  a  slip  up  saw  her  nearly  caught  by  the  authorities.  iced  out  and  sent  to  canada  to  cool  off  until  the  heat  died  down,  suki  threw  a  dart  at  the  map  and  went  to  the  place  it  landed  on  ─  cloyne,  ontario,  unaware  that  her  arrival  would  soon  be  followed  by  two  murders  and  a  town  that  now  looks  at  her  with  increasing  suspicion.

fc yee is a man (not a criticism of his work) and mo xiang tong xiu writes bl web novels (that’s a criticism of her entire existence)

reading diverse authors is a noble pursuit, but some people aren’t ready yet. you *have* to learn to think critically and in a historical context first or you’ll wind up reading homophobic porn and calling it diverse.

and this is true of a lot of authors. if you read liu cixin, you have to keep in mind his misogyny. if you read octavia butler you have to keep in mind some of her anti indigenous sentiments. one of the things in the comments of this post had to do with something nk jemison did, and people were getting pretty mad that someone was trying to “tear a Black woman down”.

being Black doesn’t magically free a person from bias and to pretend otherwise is dehumanizing to Black people

that goes for all marginalized people and if you don’t understand that, reading more diverse scifi isn’t going to do anything for you.

Ah, general perspective I see!!

Well to start things off, my version of Jeff is one of the ones that look kinda like two-face because that just always made the most sense to me on how he got his scars and such.

It was either that or make him bald. I don't need walter white jeff on my hands right now.

So basically how he got his nasty is kinda yee old standard Jeff goes to a party that Randy is also at, they get into a bit of a scuffle BUT Randy's friends aren't there so it's just the two of them now, they take it to the backyard, Randy gets a jug of gasoline and dumps it on the ground, Jeff slips on the gasoline and falls all over it then Randy gets a match and lights the mother fucker up 🔥🔥🍗🍗

The burns didn't completely cover his body persay but it definitely got most of it. The entire left side of his head, making Jeff completely blind on that side while on the other hand, Liu is actually completely blind in his right eye due to the fact that Jeff kinda went nutzo bonzo and attacked him and the rest of the family.

Liu's facial scars look like a messy knife slash over his right eye and some shitty smile scars,, courtesy of Jeff. Liu also has some other scars but they're mainly on his torso. Something interesting about Liu's scars is they weren't as deep and fatal as their parents were (though their mother had the most...brutal results.) So maybe Jeff didn't want to actually kill Liu 👀??

Now, I don't think Liu hates Jeff persay (Though Sully 100% does.) , but the two brothers definitely don't see each other now a days. They have occasionally tried but it always just ends in a huge fight between Liu and Jeff.

For me, Sully is a bit peculiar because I know nothing about having multiple personalities so I don't wanna make any accidental insensitive headcanons, ykw I mean? Though I definitely to see Sully as being a bit stubborn and occasionally aggressive, mainly towards Jeff and others who generally threatened his and Liu's existence. If I'm honest, Sully think Liu is too soft when it comes to Jeff just because Liu doesn't want to obliterate his baby brother 💀 Like Sully will be like "THAT MOTHER FUCKER KILLED YOUR PARENTS." and Liu is just like "But he baby :("

Since Liu was a kid, he's always been the quieter and kinder brother compared to loud and chaotic Jeff. The brothers certainly have changed over the years but I feel like in a lot of ways, things have stayed the same. Liu still worried about Jeff being to reckless (for good reasons, let's be honest 💀) whenever Jeff goes out killing and Jeff... still likes to annoy and antagonize Liu.

How do I close these off??? Idk how to end these so imagine I say something cool,, smart, funny, and sexy-
