Yang Ge (1988) Chinese.
Ni Ni (1988) Chinese.
Poppy Liu (1992) Chinese - is non-binary (they/she).

sagittarius & 5H for the astrology ask game <3
Aww, dear, hello, and thank you for asking me this!
I actually jotted these down in my notebook for some self-reflection even before you asked, so I'll just grab those answers and share them here.
♐️ sagittarius ⇢ what places would you like to travel in the future?
northern ireland: well, it's because there's THAT PUB I'd like to visit and have a drink there. *winks*
Tumblr media
ireland: the brennans, the clannad band and leo's tavern are the answer.
Tumblr media
england: well, kinda wanna visit margaret beaufort's tomb a bit and see michelle performing in a stage play with my own eyes.
hong kong: guess, i still have soft spot left for old hong kong tv dramas especially for sheren tang's rosy business 1 and 2 (recommended).
taiwan and japan: for food tasting.
5️⃣ 5H ⇢ do you have a hobby? which one(s)?
same as i've always been: watching tv shows, stanning actors and otps (ned x cat still with me, but it's mostly roslin x adama to me now), reading fanfic and some books, and, if you count, taking online courses to upskill myself, collecting certificates like pokemons, thanks to capitalism and the exploitation of workers 😭😭

巾幗梟雄
Actually there are a lot of really smart characters here... Master Tseung has the brains and power but lack a wider perspective to look at matters. Po Kei is also smart and is able to look at things from a different perspective but lacks the power to do things. Chai Kau is also smart and is able to creatively innovate and come up with ideas but he is unable to convey his ideas in a way where people can respect him. He always like to speak bluntly and before he is able to finish his sentence, the listener already feels like strangling him to death because of how blunt he can be... 😂
Tseung Pit-Man is seriously a pain in the ass... I cannot believe how many times I want to strangle him for all the shit that he has done. But this shows how good the actor (Ngo Ka Nin) is. Like the way he delivered the annoying spoiled son really gets me on the nerves just simply listening to his voice. Oh and that shampoo hair commercial ending at the end of ep 21 really made me crack up. But all in all, Ngo Ka Nin was superb and did an amazing job here portraying that unfilial and annoying son.
Can we just admire how much of brotherhood Chai Kau is to his men and especially to Po Kei..? Even though he was angered once by Po Kei’s action but readily forgave her by remembering how she brought him up to the power he has today. And it was amazing to see how Chai Kau matured, rose to power and became a person who now thinks way beyond his actions and to also think for others.
Another special mention I think deserves is Susan Tse portraying Fung Yee (1st wife of Kiu). Her usual portrayal of villainous roles made me see how great she can be here. Her death stare and the moment she went bonkers at the end was impressive. I was amazed how she can remember so many of her lines! Like she went on and on about how Po Kei messed up the family and she delivered it amazingly! Thumbs up!
Lastly, now I see why Rosy Business did amazing and stood out with that number of awards that year. It really was exciting watching how different sides of the family pit against each other and how scheming one can get. And also, I feel that the drama shows that it is important to listen to your people, put yourself in their shoes and look at the big picture in order to be a successful leader. It isn’t easy to achieve that and with that you need to possess a lot of qualities such as being as charismatic, decisive, selfless etc etc in order to win the hearts of people. Just like how Po Kei did, she was able to have the entire Wuxi back her up anytime and anywhere. In conclusion, amazing drama, enjoyed watching it and amazed by the cast who delivered great!

Possibly about setting up her character’s motivations, possibly about testing set lighting.

Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre Ramble
In 2021, I started a crusade to watch every version of Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre in existence. It was supposed to be every drama version in order, and that part at least I've stuck to, but I couldn't help watching the 1993 version with Jet Li (just don't.). So just to clarify, so far I've watched:
1978 HK TVB drama with Adam Cheng (with the horrible English dub, I'll watch it in the original Cantonese someday...)
1984 Taiwanese drama with Liu De Kai
1986 HK drama with Tony Leung
1993 HK movie with Jet Li
And now starting the 1994 Taiwanese version. It's... well, I'll get used to it...
List of best portrayals so far:
Zhao Min: Liza Wang (1978)
Zhou Zhiruo: Sheren Tang (1986)
Fan Yao: Michael Tao (1986)
Yang Xiao: Newton Lai (1986)
Flower Granny: Sih Ming (1978)
Other thoughts so far:
I don't have a favorite Zhang Wuji yet, but I'm damn sure it's not Jet Li lmfao
Is Yang Xiao a rapist? Absolutely. I heard he isn't in the 2019 version, and the 1978 English dub (which cut a good bit from the original) showed like only one scene between him and Ji Xiaofu.
Andy Liu's Zhang Cuishan (1984) can call me. Also Simon Yam's Zhang Cuishan (1986)... and Chen Xing's Xie Xun (1984)... don't @ me
Every Priest Miejue is badass but the 1978 version was the most practical and the 1986 version Gave the Most. I'm not vibing with the 1994 version. Or any character from that version tbh
What is Golden Girl's purpose why does she just fly in to say "I'm just here for the show~ ❤️"
1978 version is your SparkNotes HSDS
1984 version spends too much time in Wuji's head when there's clearly nothing in it
Every opening song is catchy so far (yes, even the 1984 version...)
The extra plots in the 1984 and 1986 versions interested me but the extra plot in the 1994 is grating on my brain
