cal and andre getting into a physical fight.

they’re yelling at each other in the woods while taking a break from shooting, arguing about having doubts leading up to zero day, and andre throws a punch at cal. he misses, but cal knows what his intent was. cal gets in his face, so close that andre can feel cal’s chest rise up and down, and smacks him.

this time, when andre throws a punch, he doesn’t miss. he socks cal right underneath his left eye. cal feels his world spin, both due to the impact and the fact that andre just hit him. he gathers himself and knees andre right in the crotch, taking the older boy down to the ground.

cal pushes andre onto his back and straddles his legs. he punches andre until he can see blood dripping from andre’s nose. the moment he takes a break, andre flips them over. he covers cal’s throat with one of his hands and presses down. the other hand grabs for his pocket knife.

“don’t fucking play with me, cal.”

cal gasps for air but can’t find any. he doesn’t know how they got here, how a small comment about zero day led to andre holding a knife to him.

after about thirty seconds of cal squirming and andre being so angry he’s shaking, andre let’s go and stands up. cal sputters for air and coughs up a bit of blood from being hit earlier.

the truth is: cal isn’t angry. he understands. it honestly felt good for the both of them to hit each other, to let off some steam. he reaches for the gun he was shooting and fires off a couple rounds into a tree they were once using as a target.

“imagine that as someone’s head.”

andre laughs, the splintering of the wood making him smile. as soon as everything started, it was over. they just had to come up with an excuse for the blood and bruises to tell their parents.
