Okay I can't be the only one who gets so much joy out of him unconsciously doing cat things in the cat suit - like okay I know it's a cat power-up but technically it's just supposed to give him cat reflexes and abilities, not behaviors. When he dodges DK's swing, his cat ears flip down and back, when DK is running at him or moving in an unpredictable way he arches his back, when he was taking in the praise from the crowd he started kneading little biscuits on DK's back. I just love these cute little details they make me so happy

You don't know if there's a time of day when the Palace gardens don't look beautiful. There's always the scent of seasonal flowers blooming, the soft grass against your ankles, the hushed snickering in the maze bushes - wait -

"Friend!"

"Fau - augh - !"

You don't get to say much more, partly due to your surprise at the solid warm hand whisking you into the greenery, and partly because the other one is hovering over your mouth in a 'be quiet' gesture. Asra's laughing purple eyes gleam at you with mischief as they slowly let you go, raising one finger to their lips as you settle into the little nook. You whisper into the tiny space between you as you try to recover your breath.

"What's going on?"

"What does it look like? We're hiding."

"Okay but - why are we hiding?"

He muffles a snort of laughter into his sleeve, dimples flashing before he composes himself enough to whisper back.

"You know the palace guards, Ludovico and Bludmilla?"

"Yes?"

"I might have left them a little surprise in their guard's booth."

You watch them swallow another giggle, and then latch onto your arm and chortle in delight when you hear a faint screech from the direction of the Palace gates.

"What kind of surprise?!"

"Nothing harmful, just startling."

"Why?"

His expression tinges with sadness, briefly dropping into something more complex. "Back when Muriel and I lived under the docks ... well, they were there too. They weren't very interested in letting us live in peace."

You open your mouth to say something comforting, but snap it shut again as footsteps rapidly approach through the grass. Asra's expression bounces back into gleeful mischief as they wave their hands at you to stay quiet. Outside the bushes, you can hear their latest victims grumbling angrily through the garden.

"I swear, when I get my hands on that brat I'm gonna -"

"Easy now, you don't know if the big one's still involved."

"They can't have gone far. They're probably hiding around here somewhere, those shameless, sneaky, slimy -"

The growls and curses continue as the guards come closer to the maze. You can hear one of them shaking every bush they pass. Asra takes you gently by the shoulders and shuffles you closer, turning to wedge you in the deepest part of the nook so you'll be hidden behind him if your spot is discovered. There's very, very little space between the two of you now, and he takes full advantage of it by leaning in a little further to whisper into your ear, your nose filling with his smoky, spicy scent.

"Don't worry about getting caught. I'll distract them while you run. I'm sure Nadia will understand."

"What about you?"

They don't reply, taking your hands to slip a mysterious crystal into them instead, and then freezing with your fingers intertwined when a new voice cuts into the chaos outside.

"Guards!"

"C-Countess!"

"I expect a detailed and satisfying explanation for your current state. Not only has the gate been left unmanned, I have been informed that the stairs to the Palace have been covered in ... 'slimy goo' ... and are obstructing our guests' arrival, on your watch."

You know what I keep thinking of? The "Harpy Hare" song (By Yaelokre) I keep hearing. Now of course I have to connect this to the character I'm fixating on, aka Alabaster + the mistreatment of unnamed TA demigods.

I know this song is tied to a different storyline and fandom, but I can't help but think of how the lyrics could fit and I love the concept.

Children burying children (Unless the bodies were never found, or the child was not honored, thus why the remaining would ask where they have been "buried"). Or I want to take it in a less literal sense, as in how the minor AND major gods have "buried" their children in the Hermes cabin, because of never being claimed or never having cabins. I also like to think about how most of the children in the titan army were mostly killed off after the war, and then never honored.

And still, a lot might've not even known their godly parent. "You can't keep them all caged" In reference to how they feel the need to rebel because of the need of recognition. "They will fight and run away" run away meaning how after they die, they leave no trace and most likely go to the fields of asphodel to be forgotten. And again if we swap it to a literal sense of how most of them were runaways/rouges

Most of Hecates children had died, and he most likely felt guilt for not being able to keep them safe and dying. Only a handful lived, and then Alabaster was exiled. And then in the Son of Magic when Alabaster is being hunted by Lamia, the reason why Hecate couldn't let Lamia kill Al or Lamia die is because most of her children had already died at the hands of the Olympians, then again taking the "She can't keep them all safe".

I don't exactly know about what happened to a lot of the demigods after the war, this is what I've assumed and just been hyperfixating on so tell me if something is incorrect. anyways you get a cookie if you actually read til the end of this
